Kevin Garrett Announces North American Tour

Pittsburgh-born and GRAMMY® Award-nominated artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Kevin Garrett announces an 18 city headlining North American tour. The run will kick off on April 30th in Philadelphia, PA at The Foundry and wrap on May 31st in Atlanta, GA at Vinyl ATL. Full tour routing below and tickets are on-sale today HERE!

BUY/ STREAM “RUNNING FROM”

Kevin said about the song, “My friend Sean made the initial track with which I wrote this song. Running From at face value is about being taken advantage of, but it’s more an inward reflection on why we back off from time to time and how we hold back with walls we don’t even know we’re building.

Kevin introduced HOAX with the stark and simmering 2018 release of his single In Case I Don’t Feel. Backed by delicately plucked acoustic guitar and plaintive piano, he relays an unfiltered message. He has also recently unveiled tracks “Faith You Might” and “Don’t Rush.”

Shy FX Releases “Bad After We”

Legend, soundman, DJ and all-round UK pioneer Shy FX has released new track Bad After We featuring Ghetts and Kojey Radical.

Premiered simultaneously last night by Annie Mac on Radio 1 as her ‘Hottest Record In The World’ and DJ Target on Radio 1Xtra, Bad After We ft. Ghetts & Kojey Radical is lifted from Shy’s forthcoming long player project, Raggamuffin SoundTape. It follows the release of Rudeboy Lovesong ft. Sweetie Irie & Cara Delevingne and Roll The Dice ft. Stamina MC & Lily Allen.

Featuring a broad spectrum of both established and upcoming artists – including Cara Delevingne, Chronixx, Gappy Ranks, Ghetts, Kojey Radical, Lily Allen, Maverick Sabre and Sinead Harnett (to name but a few) – Raggamuffin SoundTape flawlessly switches through Hip Hop, R ‘n’ B, Dancehall, Breakbeat and Jungle to form an eclectic soundscape that melds together seamlessly into a satisfying whole.

Raggamuffin SoundTape, released 15th March and available to pre-order now, is the first long player Shy FX has made that he feels truly represents him as an artist:

“Everything fits together – its tight, it feels like one piece. The 15-year-old me would be overly gassed by this record – I wouldn’t have been able to imagine making all these genres, all these styles… And now I’m able to put it under the same name and it makes sense to people.” – Shy FX

To celebrate the release of Raggamuffin Soundtape, Shy FX will be hosting a one off culture night at Night Tales (London) on 15th March. Tickets available to purchase here: http://dice.fm/artist/shy-fx

NOAH KAHAN UNVEILS VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “MESS”

TOURING WITH JAMES BAY IN NORTH AMERICA THROUGH MARCH AND WITH DEAN LEWIS IN EUROPE AND THE U.K. IN APRIL

WATCH HERE

Today, Noah Kahan releases the video for his new single, “Mess.” Watch it HERE! Produced by Kahan’s frequent collaborator Joel Little (Lorde, Khalid), the song has already received praise from Billboard, NYLON, Idolator, EARMILK, Baeble, Ones To Watch and more.

Of the inspiration behind the video, Noah says, “I initially called ‘Mess’ ‘Feed the Dogs’ because my pups were a huge part of the inspiration for the tune. When I was in Vermont after high school, they were my only company during what was a lonesome time. With that in mind, I knew I had to make the music video be centered around dogs. Despite my dogs’ jealousy, we got 11 trained professional dogs (who were way more famous than me) for the shoot in LA and shot a video I really loved. Hope you guys like it too!”

“Mess” follows the global success of Kahan’s breakout singles, “Hurt Somebody” and “False Confidence.” With over 200 million global streams to date, “Hurt Somebody” is triple platinum in Australia and gold in Canada, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland and New Zealand; and it peaked at #1 on the Top 40 radio charts in Australia for three weeks, making it the third most played song on the Australian airwaves in all of 2018 where Noah has become one of the most buzzworthy new acts. “False Confidence” continues to grow with over 16 million streams to date and peaked in the top 5 at Triple A radio in the U.S.

Noah Kahan is currently on the road with James Bay this month on his North American tour. He will also be joining Dean Lewis on his headline tour in Europe and the U.K. in April. See the full list of upcoming dates below. Tickets are available here

In two short years, music quite literally carried 22-year-old singer, songwriter and artist Noah Kahan around the world—a long way from his native Strafford, VT (pop. 1,045) and the 133-acre tree farm where he resides. On the trip, the alternative troubadour notched an international hit in the form of “Hurt Somebody” [feat. Julia Michaels], while his singles “Young Blood” and “False Confidence” also racked up millions of streams and he sold out headline tours in North America, Europe, and the UK and hit the road with artists like George Ezra and Leon Bridges. Not to mention, he has garnered critical acclaim from Billboard, Stereogum, Clash, Idolator, and more. In the midst of this whirlwind, he assembled his upcoming full-length debut album. The first single “Mess” illuminates his marked growth as a songwriter and storyteller by way of its biting lyrics and undeniable sing-a-long, underscoring a heartwarming and often hilarious portrait of hometown longing.

FROM THE PRODUCER OF LA LA LAND AND WRITER/DIRECTOR MAX MINGHELLA, TEEN SPIRIT WILL BE IN THEATRES THIS APRIL

On April 5, Interscope Records will release Teen Spirit Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. In the film – which screened last night at the 2019 SXSW Film Festival and opens in April – Elle Fanning plays Violet, a shy teenager who dreams of escaping her small town and pursuing her passion to sing. With the help of an unlikely mentor, she enters a local singing competition that will test her integrity, talent and ambition. Making his directorial debut, Max Minghella creates a modern fairytale, scored to a lush pop soundtrack.

Elle Fanning’s soaring rendition of the iconic Robyn song “Dancing On My Own,” was released today along with the first official clip. Listen HERE and view the video HERE. Individuals can pre-order the album commencing today.

The 14-track collection also includes Fanning’s covers of songs by such preeminent female artists as Ellie Goulding (“Lights”), Annie Lennox (“Little Bird”), Tegan and Sara (“I Was A Fool”) and Sigrid (“Don’t Kill My Vibe”) plus “Wildflowers,” a new song written by Carly Rae Jepsen and Jack Antonoff. Fanning is joined by cast members on “Good Time,” which was a 2x Platinum hit for Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen. Clara Rugaard, who plays a fellow contestant, covers “Tattooed Heart,” a song from Ariana Grande’s 2013 album, Yours Truly. The original versions of No Doubt’s “Just A Girl,” Grimes’ “Genesis” and Major Lazer’s “Lean On” feat. MØ & DJ Snake also appear on the soundtrack.

Fanning put months of work into preparing for the role, working closely with executive music producer Marius de Vries and performing all the singing live. In addition to de Vries, the team assembled by Berger included music supervisor Steven Gizicki and music co-producer Eldad Guetta, who had also worked with the Berger on La La Land. (The La La Land soundtrack, released by Interscope Records in 2016, won a GRAMMY® Award.)

Teen Spirit stars Elle Fanning (The Beguiled, 20th Century Women), Zlatko Buric (Pusher, 2012) and Rebecca Hall (Christine, The Gift). Refinery29’s Style Out There

WATCH NOW: SEASON 3 PREMIERE OF REFINERY29’s SERIES

Style Out There

Refinery29 returns with season 3 of the award-winning video series, Style Out There. With over 23 million views over the last two seasons, host and journalist Connie Wang digs back into the way clothing has given women a way to speak out, look within, and identify the forces that limit their potential. Through these stories, Wang discovers the powerful way fashion illuminates social and political issues, ranging from the connection between sexy clothing and sexual assault to instances when cultural appropriation can actually be both useful and productive.

Episode One of Style Out There is Now Available

In episode one, Connie Wang explores the cultural phenomenon of Disneybounding. Despite Disney’s strict rules prohibiting adults from wearing costumes inside its theme parks, die-hard fans have found a creative way to nerd out with their clothing.

Episode One Highlights:

On What Draws Disneybounders to Disney’s Films and Theme Parks:

“I didn’t grow up speaking English, they would take me outside of class to teach me how to speak English and I felt like that was pretty much Ariel. She was not feeling really part of the Mer-world but not too much part of the human world. Her story to me was very like I get it, I’m in that in between space, I’m neither here nor there and that’s okay and I can be part of both worlds.” – Evette, Disneybounder

“Disney to me is selling a feeling of happiness and joy and magic and nostalgia. No matter how uncertain the world seems, Disney kinda stays constant and consistent.” – Chelsea, Disneybounder

“In a land of synthetic monuments, Disneybounders have found real reasons to share hope, friendships and fanny packs. If the world looks better through rose colored glasses, maybe I’ll grab a pair? Hey, those could go great with a piglet disneybound.” – Connie, Host

On Disney’s Growing Diversity:

“We’re going to see a queer prince one day. We’re going to see a Vietnamese, a Japanese, different parts of Asia we’re going to see a Latina princess from Puerto Rico, from Cuba, from South America. I feel like slowly we’re going to get there one day.” – Evette, Disneybounder

Style Out There will premiere new episodes every week on Refinery29’s YouTube channel, exploring Japanese Cholas subculture in Nagoya, the rise of Afrofuturism across the globe, the American Escaramuzas, and Jamaica’s dancehall queens.
