OTR + WYNNE “Stay”

Today, Astralwerks released “Stay,” the evocative new single from OTR + WYNNE. Filled with yearning, the cinematic “Stay” cuts to the quick of a relationship at a turning point. For OTR, the song became entwined with his memories of a friend, creating an “emotional timestamp.”

OTR says, “I first heard these vocals after WYNNE DM’d me on Instagram about working together. Unfortunately, that same day, my friend passed away from a car accident and I wasn’t in any state to write. When Igot home from his funeral, I wrote the music for the song, which felt like my final goodbye to him.”

WYNNE made his debut as an artist in 2017 with his acclaimed single “Distraction” and a feature on ODESZA’s GRAMMY®-nominated “Line Of Sight,” which he co-wrote. Rory Andrew – the mastermind behind WYNNE – has also written and produced songs for such artists asTwo Door Cinema Club, Parson James and Jordan Fisher. He composed an original piece for Guillermo Del Toro’s The Shape of Water, a 2017 film that won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Original Score.

Ryan, the 26-year old aerospace engineer-turned-producer behind OTR, uncovered his passion for music in 2012, when he began tinkering on a dusty, run-down piano in his college dorm lobby to break up the routine of classes and studying. Shortly thereafter, he picked up a guitar and began experimenting with Logic on his MacBook Pro. Taking an internship in Japan in 2014, he found himself living in the small town of in Kurashiki, with no friends and a major language barrier. To combat the isolation, he purchased a keyboard and a train pass and spent all his free time making music and traveling to bigger cities. When he returned to the States, Ryan moved into a neighborhood on the outskirts of downtown Cincinnati known as “Over-the-Rhine” or OTR. The once-neglected area had undergone a renaissance that mirrored his own journey of discovery as music went from hobby to career goal, so it became the ideal name for his project.

The Avett Brothers “High Steppin’” # 1 on the Americana Radio Airplay Chart

This week Grammy Award®-nominated collective THE AVETT BROTHERS have reached the top Americana Radio Airplay Chart with “High Steppin’” coming in at #1. “High Steppin’” is the first single from The Avett Brothers’ anticipated album Closer Than Together [American/Republic Records], out Friday, October 4, 2019.

In addition, the band recently release a behind-the-scenes video of “High Steppin’”. Premiering on The Boot yesterday,  the video goes behind-the-scenes of the choreography created by the Purple Charlotte Steppers Club and talks about how The Avett Brothers asked the group to join them for their video.

Beyond buzzing 20-year-old pop singer-songwriter Conan Gray has released the official music video for his infectious single “Checkmate” today!

On the video Conan Gray said: “In the “Checkmate” music video, I finally get revenge for all the times I got played with in a relationship. If you wanna treat love like a game, I’m gonna win it. If you wanna cheat on me with my best friend, I’m gonna trick you into thinking I don’t know, then kidnap you both and send you to starve on a deserted island so you can spend the rest of you short lives alone together (just like you wanted). Cheers!”
 
On writing the song he also mentioned: “‘Checkmate’ is a song that spewed out of me while alone in my bedroom. It took me about four minutes, and I just ugly cried out a whole song about this person I liked who was always playing games with my heart. They’d call me super drunk in the middle of the night telling me they loved me, then they’d spend the next week cold and ignoring me. “Checkmate” was my last draw; my way of saying “I’m done with these games. If you wanna play this game, I’m gonna win.’”
 
This fall he returns to the road for his next North American headline, “The Comfort Crowd” Tour. Jamie N Commons Release “Heartbreak”

 British singer/songwriter Jamie N Commons releases a new song today.  “Heartbreak” was written by Commons and produced by Sam de Jong and is

available now at all digital retailers. 

“Heartbreak” will be featured on Common’s upcoming Fever Dreams EP which is set for release August 9 on KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records. Listen to the song here.

Commons has released a steady stream of music this year including “Start Again” and “Won’t Let Go” leading up to his EP release next month.   “Start Again,” and “Won’t Let Go” follows the release of “Paper Dreams” which came out last November. All three songs will be included on Fever Dreams EP.  This new music showcases a new direction for the musician that is heavily influenced by 80s pop.  Still evident is Commons’ bluesy-rock sensibility,  as showcased in his previous  releases “Rumble And Sway” and “Lead Me Home”, with a hint of what’s to come.  

Born in Bristol in the late 80s and following that with a stint in Chicago, Commons returned to England set on a music career studying at Goldsmiths in London, notorious for its host of luminary alumni.  Commons released The Baron EP in 2011 followed by his KIDinaKORNER/Interscope debut Rumble And Sway EP in 2013 showcasing his whiskey-laced growl.  Commons’ workmanlike approach has been fed further by the work he’s doing for others. Among his successes, he co-wrote the hit “Jungle” for X Ambassadorswith Alex Da Kid and Sam Harris, and toured with the band. He also had a Beats by Dre ad, and was featured on Eminem’s ‘MMLP2’ album. Commons won Music Week’s Sync Artist Of The Year in 2016. This past year Commons composed the music for the summer blockbuster “Skyscraper” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. These experiences opened his ears to a spectrum of genres, making him more interested in the path pop music is taking.

Vérité Unveils New Single “Youth”

Singer, songwriter Verite unveils new single Youth. The track was written by the artist in collaboration with Andrew Maury (Lewis Del Mar, Shawn Mendes, RAC) and Zach Nicita (Anne-Marie, Louis The Child, MS MR), who also produced. Click HERE to listen!

Vérité said about the meaning behind the track, Youth is a rare look back. When I was younger I was tangled in a relationship with an older, manipulative, shitty human. Such a par for the course, all too common cliche it actually annoys me. It amazes me how much I thought I needed this person and how small I made myself to accommodate him. How he was someone I’ve had to process, recover from, and become healthy in spite of and I am someone he never thought of again. Youth is about how someone can be so all encompassing to one person while the other views them as such a small blip on a screen that they’d never look back or remember.

Vérité recently debuted Gone her first single in two years, via NYLON. Co-written and produced by singer-songwriter Madi Diaz and Konrad Snyder, the song reintroduced the musician, capturing the devastating effects of something ending. Carried by haunting crescendos and Vérité’s powerhouse vocals, the track sees the singer pleading for time to stand still for a little while longer before her world turns upside down.
