Surf Mesa × Gus Dapperton

20-year-old electronic producer Surf Mesa follows his smash hit “ily (i love you baby)” ft. Emilee with a new single, “Somewhere” ft. Gus Dapperton, released today.

“The bittersweet track melds elements of electronic, alt-indie and left-of-center pop, offering a wistful look back at an ill-fated relationship,” a press release reads. The video captures Surf’s trademark summer vibes as it follows him on a day trip to the Southern California desert with members of LA girl skateboard crew GRLSWIRL and Loaded Skateboards in tow. Mara Whitehead (DeathbyRomy, Bright Eyes) directed the video and Ben Del Guercio (Bodysnatch) produced.

Surf Mesa’s breakthrough hit, “ily (i love you baby)” ft. Emilee, is now certified gold in the U.S. and only continues to reach new heights with global streams now surpassing 400 million. He also recently released his remix of Marshmello and Halsey’s smash hit “Be Kind”; which flips that power-ballad pulse into a tumble through side-chained synths and broken beats. Listen HERE.

Gus Dapperton has exceeded 100 million streams and sold 17,000 copies of his debut album, Where Polly People Go To Road. On top of that, he joined BENEE in “Supalonely,” garnering 50 milion streans in the U.F. alone.

Bastille's What You Gonna Do??? illustration done by Mina Tocalini of 360 MAGAZINE.

Bastille – What You Gonna Do???

Bastille’s electrifying new song might feel like a bit of a surprise release, not least to the band themselves, but as frontman Dan Smith says, “We finished the song, and it felt urgent. We didn’t want to sit on it.”

A thunderous, furious, short sharp shock, WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” feat. Graham Coxon comes after the dust settled on the band’s acclaimed third album Doom Days—the final instalment in a trilogy that’s spanned eight years and brought Bastille multi-platinum sales, global success and a position as one of the world’s most-streamed bands. Fans may have grown accustomed to albums arriving with fully formed, meticulously executed, creative ecosystems, but this time it’s all change.

WATCH THE OFFICIAL VIDEO HERE!

This next phase feels like a new beginning. It’s about completely tearing up our process, being spontaneous and starting again,” Dan states. “We’re just really excited by the new songs. I think we’re making some of the best music we’ve ever made. We want to put it out now and not wait for the whole album to be done before anyone starts to hear it. This is about where we are now and hearing us in real-time.”

Produced by Dan and Mark Crew, it’ll surprise anyone who thought they knew what to expect from the band—the song features Graham Coxon on guitar and vocals.

The tongue-in-cheek chorus of “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” explores a frustration with the attention economy in which our ears and eyes are fiercely fought over, yet so few use it for anything worthwhile. “Whether we’re outside or online, we’re perpetually hit by so many people vying for our attention,” Dan adds, “but we’re just left rolling our eyes at how rarely it’s for anything that decent or funny.” The track was written before 2020 turned on its head, but it’s hard to ignore the poignancy of a song that questions the squandered attention of billions of captive eyeballs.

The track’s extraordinary video sees Bastille collaborating with Rezza, a British/Iranian, London-based animator who brings a seismic visual shift for Bastille: the video is a mash up of mixed media using illustration, photography and live action, which results in a unique and innovative style that is winningly berserk.

Sonically “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” is either the first clue to a brand new chapter for Bastille or a complete red herring. Either way, it marks the beginning of an exciting and surprising new era for the band.

Hailed by Rolling Stone as “Britpop’s new crown princes,” Bastille was introduced internationally with the single “Pompeii,” which is now 6x Platinum in the U.S. “Pompeii” and subsequent hits, “Good Grief” (2016) and “Quarter Past Midnight” (2018), each topped the Mediabase Alternative chart in the States. The GRAMMY®-nominated band – comprising Dan Smith, keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist/guitarist Will Farquarson, and drummer Chris Wood – has global consumption exceeding 6 billion cumulative streams across all platforms, including 48 million adjusted singles and 7 million adjusted albums worldwide. Bastille’s hit single with Marshmello “Happier” topped charts around the world, with cumulative streams approaching 7 billion. Certified 6x Platinum in the U.S., “Happier” held the No. 1 position for 3 consecutive weeks on the Top 40 Radio Airplay chart. 2019 brought Bastille’s acclaimed third album, Doom Days, which charted in the top 5 in the U.S, making Bastille the only UK band to have achieved this chart landmark alongside The Beatles and Queen, and received massive critical acclaim, as NME called it “their most inventive boundary-hoping album yet.” Following a 2 month-long sold-out U.S. and U.K. tour last year, 2020 sees the band return with the ferocious “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???,” which sonically is either the first clue to a brand new era for Bastille or a complete red herring. Either way, it marks the beginning of an exciting and surprising new era for the band.

Kem × Toni Braxton

On the heels of KEM’s smash hit Lie to Me which has maintained the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart for six weeks in a row, the R&B superstar releases his new single, Live Out Your Love featuring the iconic Toni Braxton. KEM’s signature silky vocals give way to Braxton’s rich, sultry sound on the track, which is from his upcoming album, LOVE ALWAYS WINS (Motown), set for release on August 28. The two artists co-wrote the song and KEM produced it with Derek “DOA” Allen.

The collaboration was sparked last year when Braxton extended an invitation for KEM to perform at her Valentine’s Day concert in Detroit. My wife and I went to Toni’s show at the Fox Theatre, recalls KEM. She called me up onstage to sing with her and it was an incredible moment.

While working on his new album, KEM began to envision Live Out Your Love as a duet and asked Braxton to join him. Due to COVID-19, they couldn’t record in the same room. When Braxton sent her vocal to KEM, he was blown away. I loved the way she recorded, the texture of her voice, he says. The pairing of our voices was just amazing.

KEM co-wrote Lie to Me with Anthony Hamilton, Salam Remi, and James Poyser and produced it with Derek “DOA” Allen.

LOVE ALWAYS WINS is the follow-up to KEM’s 2014 album, PROMISE TO LOVE, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 3, becoming his third consecutive top five album on the tally. PROMISE TO LOVE contained the hit singles Nobody and It’s You, which each spent multiple weeks atop the Urban Adult Contemporary radio charts. Nobody earned KEM his third GRAMMY nomination.

The internationally renowned R&B singer/songwriter has to his credit: one Platinum album (KEM: ALBUM II), two Gold albums (KEMISTRY and INTIMACY), three GRAMMY nominations and six No. 1 singles. In addition, KEM has been nominated for six NAACP Image Awards, two Soul Train Awards and a BET Centric Award. In 2012, KEM founded Mack & Third, Inc., a Michigan domestic non-profit organization that provides funding to humanitarian aid organizations related to: homelessness; hunger; substance abuse; domestic violence; natural disasters; education, etc.

Logic – Dad Bod Music Video

Logic drops the official music video for “Dad Bod” from his latest album “No Pressure”. “Logic’s contribution to hip-hop is deep-rooted in inclusivity and compassion, and ‘No Pressure’ continues the trend even as he bids farewell to the art form that raised him and gave him a platform to speak his truth.”

“The 15 tracks that comprise No Pressure is a reminder of the Maryland native’s pure skill and dedication to the craft. His passion and talent are evident in all the sonic aspects of the album, from his double-timed flows to his melodic offerings and engaging lyricism.”

“…Logic at his finest, raging with righteous indignation and heightened melodic skills.”

“Logic’s No Pressure does what all retirement albums should aspire to accomplish: conclude a rapper’s career on a high note. The music is on par, lyrically, with the best material Logic has released throughout the past six years, and the Maryland rapper is keenly aware this is it.”

Multi-platinum, Grammy Nominated artist Logic (aka Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, aka Bobby Hall) – among the top streaming artists in the world with billions of streams to date – burst onto the music scene through a series of mixtapes that led to a significant, rabid underground fan base. Those tapes – Young, Broke, and Infamous (2010); Young Sinatra (2011); Young Sinatra: Undeniable (2012); and Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever (2013) – garnered millions of downloads and streams. They jump started a worldwide tour that led up to his record deal with Def Jam Recordings in 2014, and the release of his debut album Under Pressure that year.  Logic kept up the pace with his second album, The Incredible True Story (2015, with the RIAA gold “Fade Away”), followed by Everybody (2017), containing the landmark 5x-platinum “1-800-273-8255” (National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid.

Overlapping Logic’s albums were new mixtapes Bobby Tarantino (2016, with the RIAA gold single “Flexicution”), and Bobby Tarantino II (2018, with the RIAA platinum “44 More” and “Everyday”). YSIV (September 2018), the fourth chapter of his Young Sinatra saga, contained “One Day” which Logic performed with Ryan Tedder and over 200 immigrant children, their siblings and parents at the MTV VMAs. 2019 kicked off with the publication in March of Supermarket (Simon & Schuster), the debut novel written by Bobby Hall, which entered the New York Times Paperback Fiction bestseller list at #1 – first-ever for a hip-hop artist. It was accompanied by the Supermarket “soundtrack” album, which debuted inside the Top 10 on the Billboard Alternative Album chart, an ‘Alt’ chart first for Logic. The prolific artist dropped his fifth studio album in May 2019, Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind.  It was preceded by the title tune single and video, “Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind,” and RIAA platinum “Homicide” featuring Eminem.

Global superstar, producer and DJ, Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll – a.k.a Kygo, teams up with the incomparable, brilliant, and legendary Grammy Award winning superstar Tina Turner to unveil a remake of “What’s Love Got To Do With It” – Turner’s iconic #1 song that was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and is included in Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.” “What’s Love Got To Do With It” – out now via Sony Music International/Ultra Records/RCA Records, comes alongside a brand new video directed by Sarah Bahbah and stars Laura Harrier (Hollywood, Blackkklansman) and Charles Michael Davis (The Originals, The Vampire Diaries).

Says Kygo, “I couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with Tina Turner, who is an icon that I grew up listening to. ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ is one of my all-time favorite songs so to have a chance to rework it has been a very special moment in my career. I love working around timeless vocals and although it’s challenging to preserve elements of the original track and adding my own touch, I’m extremely happy with how it turned out!” It’s been a big summer for Kygo who back in May released his critically acclaimed third full-length album Golden Hour  which features his hit single  “Lose Somebody” with OneRepublic as well as “Higher Love” with Whitney Houston, the latter of which has more than 651 million audio and video streams combined and charted at Top 40 radio. Kygo kicked off his album release day with performances of “Lose Somebody” with OneRepublic and “The Truth” with Valerie Broussard on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series and will be performing on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon with OneRepublic on July 22nd.

Whether behind the piano in his studio or headlining a sold-out festival, Kygo quietly reaffirms his status as a prodigious talent, forward-thinking producer, dynamic DJ, and influential global superstar. The Norwegian musician born Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll first introduced himself in 2013 and quietly became one of the most ubiquitous hitmakers in the world. Amassing 15 billion cumulative global audio and video streams and 3.3 billion YouTube views by 2020, he has broken numerous streaming records. He emerged as Spotify’s “Breakout Artist of 2015” powered by “Firestone” [feat Conrad Sewell] and “Stole the Show” [feat. Parson James]—certified gold or platinum in sixteen countries. These smashes cemented him as “the fastest artist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify.” Kygo earned one of his biggest hits with the multiplatinum “It Ain’t Me” [feat. Selena Gomez], going Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and clocking nearly 1 billion Spotify streams.

He maintained his momentum on the Stargazing EP and second album, Kids In Love. The ensuing Kids In Love Tour canvased four continents and sold out arenas. He ignited “Remind Me To Forget” [feat. Miguel] with 812 million total combined streams and views. Other collaborations include mega-hits with U2, Imagine Dragons, The Chainsmokers, Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, and Chelsea Cutler. In 2019, Kygo unleashed “Higher Love” with Whitney Houston and generated another 1 billion combined streams and views in addition to leaving his imprint on a classic. He heralded his 2020 third full-length album Golden Hour [Sony Music International/Ultra Records/RCA Records] with the anthems “Like It Is” [with Zara Larsson & Tyga] and “I’ll Wait” [with Sasha Sloan]. Now, Golden Hour signals Kygo’s brightest moment yet.

Tina Turner is revered around the world, inspiring millions through her own personal story, her singing, her dancing and beyond. Her music legacy is a collection of some of the best-known songs of all time, just utter the phrase “You’re simply the best” you’d be hard-pressed to find a person who doesn’t know the next line! Turner rose to prominence in 1958, aged 19, as a duo with her then-husband Ike Turner, initially as a featured singer with Ike Turner’s Kings of Rhythm, recording under the name “Little Ann” on the track ‘Boxtop’.

Her introduction to the public as Tina Turner began in 1960 as a member of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue with the hit single ‘A Fool In Love’ in 1960. Success followed with a string of notable hits, including ‘It’s Gonna Work Out Fine’ (1961), ‘River Deep – Mountain High’ (1966), ‘Proud Mary’ (1971), and ‘Nutbush City Limits’ (1973). In 1976, following a string of personal altercations, Tina left the musical duo and filed for divorce. A solo career ensued…In 1977, she went back on stage touring rigorously, then in November 1983, she released a cover of Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together’ which became a hit. In June 1984 she released the ‘Private Dancer’ album and it’s second single ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It’ became a global smash as did the album.

From there, Tina became, and continues to be, one of the most loved artists in the world and this incredible career continues to build. In March 2018, ‘Tina’ – The Tina Turner Musical, opened at London’s Aldwych Theatre to amass acclaim with Radio 4’s Front Row calling it “One of the most impressive musicals I’ve ever seen” and The Times saying it is a “… raw musical triumph”. The smash hit ‘Tina’ – The Tina Turner Musical opened at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre with ABC News raving, “Mind blowing and life changing. A story that needs to be shared, especially today,” and Billboard saying, “The powerhouse voice, jackhammer legs, and above all, the heart.

Not to be missed.” Her memoirs, ‘Tina Turner: My Love Story’, released in October 2018, was also met with a similar adulation, “Turner comes across as courageous, optimistic, big-hearted and generous” (Sunday Times), “Astonishing, soul-baring – the must-read memoir by rock’s greatest survivor” (Daily Mail) it also made the Mail On Sunday’s Books Of The Year list for 2018. In 2019, to celebrate Tina’s 80th birthday, her husband Erwin published “That´s My Life”, a Limited Edition photo book accompanied by letters from friends such as Mick Jagger, Bryan Adams and Beyonce.

Tainy × J Balvin – Agua

Boundary-pushing producer and artist, Tainy, and globally renowned artist J Balvin release “Agua,” the first single off of the official soundtrack from the upcoming animated film The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge On The Run. The song is out on NEON16/Interscope Records and available on all streaming platforms today.

The multiple Latin GRAMMY winning producer collaborated with J Balvin to create a song that captures the true essence of the beloved animated children show’s new feature film. The video which is set to release in the coming weeks, was directed by 36 Grados and filmed using the same cutting-edge animation seen in the film to help further bring to life the infectious beat created by Tainy that perfectly pairs with J Balvin’s signature silky smooth flow. The song further showcases Tainy’s incredibly skillful ability and talent as a producer and artist as he uses SpongeBob’s signature flute sound as the base for the beat of the track. Tainy then adds his unique style of sound to the track, cementing it as a certified summer anthem.

In the lyric video that is accompanying the song release today, we get a glimpse of SpongeBob and his best friend Patrick Star embarking on a journey to the Lost City of Atlantic City as J Balvin’s lyrics take us through the deep sea celebration.

Both Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon partnered with Tainy and Lex Borrero of NEON16 and Interscope Records to help them create a soundtrack that was innovative, bubbly and lively much like the title character of the animated film. The album is executive produced by the award-winning producing duo and was especially curated to help bring the film to life. The soundtrack will feature a strong collection of global artists from across different genres like Tyga, Swae Lee, Lil Mosey, Weezer, Snoop Dogg, The Flaming Lips, Kenny G., Cyndi Lauper and more.
