TYLER JACOB

East coast born and bred, Tyler Jacob is a singer/songwriter who got his start in the industry after being discovered singing on the trains of NYC.

At the age of 5 years old, Tyler Jacob started singing and performing in school plays. Tyler says that “I’ve always wanted to sing. It was a natural thing for me.” His family recalls little Tyler putting on shows in the family living room.

“I don’t come from a family of singers. I’m the only one.”

But it wasn’t until his freshmen year in high school did he realize others thought he had a gift, when he was accidentally placed in a choir class. “The choir teacher asked me to sing, so she could classify my voice.” The rest is history. After the choir teacher heard Tyler’s voice, she had him transferred to Creative Arts High School (CAHS) in Camden, New Jersey.

Tyler’s passion to sing, write and perform his own music, in English and Spanish, pushed him after he graduated from CAHS to move to the big Apple to pursue his singing career. Since then he has gone on to win numerous talent shows , performed on many stages across the US, opened up for Grammy Award winner, Brandy Norwood, and logged studio time with Carvin & Ivan (Chris Brown, Musiq Soulchild, Mario), and Andrea Martin (Leona Lewis, Monica, Mary J. Blige).

Tyler credits artists like Brandy, Eryka Badu, Lauryn Hill, Aaliyah, Jon B, Marc Anthony, Tank, Maxwell, as some of his influences.

Beats By Dr. Dre – “Above The Noise” with DJ Snake

Beats by Dr. Dre has released the latest chapter of “Above the Noise” campaign promoting the Beats Studio3 Wireless headphone. The latest release captures Geffen Records artist DJ Snake’s performance on Paris’ legendary Arc de Triomphe as well as a look at the journey that took him there.

DJ Snake was the first performer ever to play atop the roof of the iconic French landmark on Sept 6th.

Directed by Colin Tilley, this film maps his incredible journey where he talks for the first time about how he rose from the streets of Paris to be one of the world’s biggest performers and producers, and his love for the country he came from.

Talking about the film, DJ Snake says, “Playing the roof of the Arc de Triomphe was a moment I wanted to keep forever so when Beats asked me if they could make a short film about that night, and my journey to that point… it was easy to say yes.”

Q × A

How do you feel to be considered a fashion icon?

  • The reality is that I conquered every single thing by hard work. There is no better feeling than being recognized, seen, and heard. It means that my message is getting out there louder and louder. Fashion to me is a way to wrap your soul. I love that women and men can look at me to be inspired by who I am, inside and out. I believe this is what makes you a fashion icon.

When you were younger, was there a pivitol moment where you knew fashion would be your life calling?

    • When I was 16 and was told that I had the body of a model I remember having butterflies in my stomach. I looked at myself in the mirror and said: “One day you will be a top model”. That was my childhood dream. A pure dream that simply means to strive to be the best of the best. Being recognized today as such gives me the strength to keep on working. The beautiful part is that I get inspired everyday by my mentor, Daisaku Ikeda, knowing for a fact that there is no limit to going beyond yourself. I am looking forward to see myself in 5 years. The “no” are there, many times they are stronger than the yes. When they hit me however I know I need to surpass them.

Lastly, who or what influences your current style now? And who are your current favorite brands?

      • Instagram is my beyond imagination source of inspiration. We dictate trends. Things that we wore months before make it onto the catwalks the following season. This happens all the time with many amazing influencers. Brands are watching us now to pick up inspiration: this is the concrete signal that social media has changed an industry. I am an Italian soul and body, I adore Gucci and Fendi. I take joy in discovering new international brands and selecting the best out of them such as Malika Rajani, Femme Sans Peur, Michelle Nicole. A big shout out to stylist Ninorta Malke for making me discover Dreams On Air, a New York City showroom with amazing innovative labels. As a fashion Influencer discovering the new, seeing their vision, mission, and love gives me so much motivation. Keep on being YOU.

Les Twins “Dress to be Free”

This Halloween, Bacardí challenges partygoers to DRESS TO BE FREE with a new campaign aimed at liberating our truest selves in honor of the holiday that celebrates self-expression. BACARDÍ is honing in on the spirit of Halloween as the intersection of a world of people who dress up to be themselves every day and those who liberate themselves through creative expression. This year, BACARDÍ celebrates these individuals, and are excited to share exclusive content with the Parisian dance duo – Les Twins – brothers who at their core represent what Dress to Be Free is all about: authenticity, truth, and celebration.

Identical twin brothers, choreographers and models, Laurent and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois, are recognized internationally for their talents in new style hip-hop dancing, and have been featured with various music artists including Beyoncé, Meghan Trainor, and Missy Elliott.  Just as BACARDÍ challenges convention and champions liberation, Les Twins are transforming dance culture using movement and their style to transcend the expected, redefine and disrupt a category.  They are moving past the notions of what constitutes “real hip-hop,” integrating the happenings of everyday life to celebrate their true selves.

BACARDÍ, Les Twins, and Cardi B will be attending a #DRESSTOBEFREE Halloween Bash on October 30th at House of Yes in New York City.
