ALESSIA CARA PERFORMS AT THE EMA’s

Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Alessia Cara has once again donned the symbolic, oversized suit she wore in the “Growing Pains” video, the “Trust My Lonely” video, as well as recent appearances on FallonColbert, and the Today Show for her performances at Austin City Limits and the MTV EMA Awards – where she took home the award for Best World Stage. Alessia told the Today crew: “It’s an artistic way of symbolizing the idea of growing up. Sometimes you kind of feel like you’re drowning and you feel like you’re not ready for the roles life throws at you so this was my way of symbolizing it in an artistic way.” Alessia took to her Twitter account to defend her choices for wearing the oversized suit after some online criticism and received support from Kehlani and Ariana Grande.

CASIO G-SHOCK PARTNERS WITH THE HUNDREDS ON NEW 35TH ANNIVERSARY COLLABORATION TIMEPIECE

First Available Exclusively at ComplexCon, Custom Design Elements Nod to Both Brands’ Anniversaries

Today, Casio G-SHOCK announces their second collaboration model in partnership with international streetwear brand The Hundreds – available first exclusively at ComplexCon this weekend. In celebration of G-SHOCK’s 35th anniversary, as well as The Hundred’s 15th anniversary, the men’s timepiece features an updated DW5600 case in a matte-black colorway. With The Hundreds’ signature red, yellow and black colorway dynamically positioned on the face, the new model also features their brand ethos of “Blood Sweat & Years” on the watch strap.

Following a previous collaboration between the two fashion entities in 2012, the DW5600HDR-1 model nods to G-SHOCK’s original timepiece with a classic square face and compellingly simple yet distinctive design, as well as The Hundreds’ two signature logos on the strap and on the case back.

“Since we aspire to have a timeless brand, in handpicking our collaborators we seek out partners with classic legacies,” said Bobby Hundreds, founder of The Hundreds. “Casio G-SHOCK is a heritage player, having maintained relevance through design and quality over generations. When The Hundreds works with G-SHOCK, we’re not just making a watch, we are bridging our histories: A timepiece that stands the test of time.”

The Hundreds, a streetwear brand founded in Los Angeles in 2003, was inspired by California’s punk, hip-hop, skateboarding and surfing culture. Its products are now sold worldwide and have expanded to include eyewear.

A video was created to showcase the new timepiece. Take a look: http://bit.ly/gshxhrd

The DW5600HDR-1 will first be showcased at ComplexCon, a one-of-a-kind street culture festival in LA that is bringing together the top brands across pop culture, music, art, food, style, sports, innovation, activism, and education. The festival is taking place on November 3 and 4 in Long Beach, California.

THE BEATLES × APPLE MUSIC

THE BEATLES RELEASE NEW “GLASS ONION” MUSIC VIDEO EXCLUSIVELY ON APPLE MUSIC
Premiere Includes Rare Beatles Performance Footage and Photos Ahead of the Upcoming Release of
The BEATLES (‘White Album’)

Enjoy a Sneak Peek HERE
As the world readies itself for the comprehensive new edition of The Beatles’ 1968 studio album, The BEATLES (‘White Album’), the group today launches a brand new music video for the album’s “Glass Onion,” available now exclusively on Apple Music. Beatlemania hit Apple Music back in December of 2015 and has continued to grow with streaming audiences ever since, more than 40% in the last year alone.

Here’s a special sneak peek of The Beatles’ new “Glass Onion” video:

Full of delightful surprises and featuring rare photos and footage from The Beatles’ vault, the “Glass Onion” music video takes fans on a journey into the creation of the pull-out poster from the ‘White Album.’ Working closely with Apple Corps Ltd., the video is produced by Richard Barnett and Layla Atkinson of Trunk Animation, and directed by Trunk’s director team Alasdair+Jock, who painstakingly reconstructed and vividly animated the original poster’s montage. The poster, created by ‘White Album’ art director Richard Hamilton along with Paul McCartney, was built on an easel at Hamilton’s north London studio, using images supplied by each of the individual Beatles.

The video presents treats along the way for fans to discover: clever animation, photo styling, and well-matched footage add movement and depth to the poster’s original imagery; a little yellow submarine is revealed in Paul’s bubble bath photo; Jeremy Hillary Boob, Ph.D. pops up from the Sea of Holes; an American flag pencil moves in eraser-first, representing U.S. censorship of the poster’s nude John and Yoko drawing; and much more.

For 50 years, The BEATLES (‘White Album’) has invited its listeners to venture forth and explore the breadth and ambition of its music, delighting and inspiring each new generation in turn. On November 9, The Beatles will release a suite of lavishly presented ‘White Album’ packages (Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/UMe). The album’s 30 tracks are newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and mix engineer Sam Okell in stereo and 5.1 surround audio, joined by 27 early acoustic demos and 50 session takes, most of which are previously unreleased in any form

Sabrina Carpenter Album “Singular: Act I”

Two weeks ahead of its release, singer/songwriter and actress Sabrina Carpenter has revealed additional details surrounding her third studio album Singular: Act I, due out November 9 on Hollywood Records, including the record’s artwork and track listing. Singular: Act I is available now for digital pre-order and pre-save (HERE) and will include an instant download of the song “Paris.” The album will be available on CD exclusively at Target.

Carpenter first revealed the album’s release date during a dramatic performance of the record’s lead single “Almost Love” on The Late Late Show with James Corden earlier this month. The theatrical performance began as a stark affair, with Carpenter clad in all-white among Roman columns and statues. By the end of the song, the set was splattered with neon paint from disembodied hands – its final mark provided by Carpenter herself as she scrawled “November 9” on the walls.

To celebrate the release of Singular: Act I, Sabrina will perform the album’s second single, “Sue Me” on Live with Kelly and Ryan and the TODAY Show on November 9.

Carpenter is on the edge of a new beginning with this album, which has been more than two years in the making for the rising pop powerhouse. This marks her third record in a three-year span since her debut album, and she has grown considerably as an artist and writer between each release – something that especially shines through on Singular: Act I.

“I’m beginning in a different place than I was before,” says Carpenter of the record. Carpenter approached Singular: Act I a little bit older and a little bit wiser than she was when she began writing songs for her first album. She opted to push herself out of her comfort zone in order to be heard, flaunting the confidence of someone who has entered young adulthood and found their own voice. That sense of empowerment is weaved throughout Singular: Act I – a set of eight sonic epiphanies (all of which she co-wrote) blending Carpenter’s R&B-style vocals with the pop sensibility she helmed on her sophomore record EVOLution.

Singular: Act I Track Listing:

1. Almost Love

2. Paris

3. Hold Tight (feat. Uhmeer)

4. Sue Me

5. prfct

6. Bad Time

7. Mona Lisa

8. Diamonds Are Forever

BLONDIE’s Chris Stein’s Photo Book

Blondie’s Chris Stein has released POINT OF VIEW: ME, NEW YORK CITY, AND THE PUNK SCENE, his latest photo book – out now. Following in the footsteps of the successful Negative: Me, Blondie, and the Advent of Punk, this newest book is a highly personal and visually arresting collection of Stein’s photographs which captures an important, but fading chapter in Manhattan’s history – complete with candid photographs of pop-culture icons – through his insider lens. PRESS HERE to purchase.

For the duration of the 1970s-from his days as a student at the School of Visual Arts to founding member of the era-defining band Blondie and the architect of its success with lead singer Debbie Harry, to his subsequent reign at the epicenter of punk’s golden age-Chris Stein kept an unrivaled photographic record of the downtown New York City scene. Focusing mainly on a single decade in Stein‘s own world, the images presented here take us from self-portraits in his run-down East-Village apartment to evocative streetscape shots in all their most longed-for romance and dereliction.

An eclectic cast of cultural characters-from William Burroughs and Lydia Lunch to Debbie Harry and Andy Warhol to Basquiat and Shepard Fairey-is captured during this moment in time, juxtaposed with children sitting on stoops, torn-down blocks, the graffiti-ridden subway, and the burgeoning club scene of the Bowery.

At once a chronicle of one music icon’s life among his punk and New-Wave heroes and peers, and a love letter to the city that was the backdrop and inspiration for those scenes, POINT OF VIEW captures the cultural and social ethos of the 1970s. While Stein is credited with helping to shape the sound and the look of pop culture for more than four decades, POINT OF VIEW is a thrilling reminder of Stein’s brilliance as a photographer and documentarian of the New York City music scene and beyond.

About the Author: Chris Stein is the co-founder, songwriter and guitarist of the iconic punk band Blondie. The band’s 11th studio album, Pollinator, was named one of Rolling Stone‘s 20 Best Pop Albums of 2017. Chris’ photographic work has been featured in galleries and press around the world, and published in the successful book Negative: Me, Blondie, and the Advent of Punk (Rizzoli). Beyond his era-defining music with Blondie, he has collaborated with a host of artists over the years, including Andy Warhol, Basquiat, William Burroughs, Devo, Glenn O’Brien, and Shepard Fairey.
