Singer, songwriter, and producer blackbear releases the video for a remix of his current single, “do re mi” featuring Gucci Mane, today via Beartrap/Alamo/Interscope Records. Watch it here.
The video — which features kids, cats, puppets, and Gucci Mane — was shot at a mansion in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades by director Megan Park, who also directed Mansionz’s “Rich White Girls” video. (blackbear makes up one-half of Mansionz, along with his frequent collaborator, singer-songwriter Mike Posner.)
Released in March, the original version of “do re mi” has racked up more than 77 million global streams on Spotify and was the first blackbear track to crack the Billboard Hot 100. It has climbed to No. 61 on the US Spotify chart and No. 165 on Spotify’s Global Top 200 chart.
“do re mi” is the first single to be released from blackbear’s first album for Beartrap/Alamo/Interscope Records, Digital Druglord, which debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard Top 200 chart in April. blackbear (born Matthew Musto) has released two previous independent albums, Deadroses and Help, along with a self-titled Mansionz album. He also co-wrote Justin Bieber’s hit single “Boyfriend” and has collaborated with such artists as Gnash, G-Eazy, James Blake, Machine Gun Kelly, and Linkin Park, among others.
blackbear recently wrapped his sold-out Digital Drugtour, which visited both The Wiltern in Los Angeles and Irving Plaza in New York City. He will appear at the Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival on August 19th in Wantagh, NY, and will be direct support on Fall Out Boy’s fall tour, which kicks off October 20th in Cleveland.
