LaunchPAD – Process as Destination

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, is proud to announce LaunchPAD “Process as Destination.” Over a period of two years, the pandemic recovery initiative will support artists through their creative process by knitting together a region-wide network of sequenced and made-to-measure fully funded residencies and public showings.

Recognizing that performing artists continue to face vulnerabilities including unstable income, lack of access to rehearsal space, and limited opportunities for prolonged collaborations outside of requisite productions and finished premieres, Works & Process fosters a new model for collaboration with LaunchPAD. The program weaves together a constellation of at least eight residency partners throughout the Hudson Valley and Long Island that will collectively and cohesively support New York performing artists. Works & Process will provide collaborators with living wages, transportation, and healthcare insurance, while residency partners will provide studio and theater space and housing. As a result, each LaunchPAD project will receive prolonged support through a series of sequenced and fully funded residencies across different geographic regions and residency spaces that respond to artists needs in a made-to-measure way. When ready, select LaunchPAD projects will premiere at Works & Process at the Guggenheim as well as with partnering presenters.

LaunchPAD underscores the Works & Process core mission to support artists and illuminate the creative process. LaunchPAD will serve as an incubator encouraging artists and audiences to embrace artistic process as a destination, with an understanding that how work is created is as important as the final product. Woven into each LaunchPAD residency will be classes, open rehearsals, and in-process show-and-tell sessions that will encourage appreciation for the complexities of the artistic process and build future audiences for its performing artists. LaunchPAD will support today’s leading performing artists and nurture a vast array of performing arts disciplines and historically marginalized artists.

Continuing our pandemic response, LaunchPAD demonstrates how performing arts organizations can collectively and more cohesively support the artistic process. A two-year pilot, LaunchPAD will annually support at least ten process-driven, new work development opportunities for over one hundred artists, with 40 weeks of artist residency each year. LaunchPAD is a direct extension of Works & Process’ successful and pioneering bubble residency program, which produced 25 socially distanced residencies in the Hudson Valley for 247 artists at the height of the pandemic from August 2020 to June 2021.

Billy Porter – Children music video

GRAMMY®, EMMY®, and Tony® Award-winning actor, singer, director, composer, playwright, and author Billy Porter reveals his official music video for “Children” exclusively on Facebook HERE

“The song is about choosing yourself” Billy Porter says, “that choosing one’s personal authenticity is the only way to live – and then using the power of that choice to help others make the same choice.”

Billy continues, “This is my first video with my new team at Island/Republic. I was so happy to bring my good friend and longtime colleague AC Ciulla into the mix to choreograph the big dance moment. I was also excited that we were able to cast our beautiful array of extras with help from the Ali Forney Center, a place that is very special to me and that does such great work.”

“The song has a universal message, but I really wanted the vibe of the visual to be about celebrating our community.” Billy comments on the music video, “This visual moment is about empowerment, about all of us coming together and empowering everybody that’s under the sound of my voice. That was the energy I wanted in this moment. Doing this together. We are all the children. It’s about hope. It’s hopeful. And I know there’s not a lot to be hopeful about so we’re counteracting that on purpose. That’s what this is about.”

“Children” is a high-energy dance floor anthem co-written with GRAMMY® Award-nominated songwriter MNEK [H.E.R., Dua Lipa] and Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall.

Just in time for the holiday season, Billy Porter has also released his version of the holiday classic “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” produced by Justin Tranter (Britney Spears, Camilla Cabello, Justin Bieber etc.)

Billy Porter performed his rendition of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” at this year’s National Christmas Tree Lighting in Washington, DC.  Just announced, Billy will also perform a holiday classic at the In Performance at the White House: Spirit of the Season to air on Tuesday, December 21 at 8 p.m. ET on PBS stations nationwide.

Don’t miss Billy Porter co-host “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2022” from New Orleans to shepherd in the Central time Zone countdown beginning at 8/7c on ABC.

Stay tuned for new music arriving early 2022.

About Billy Porter

Billy Porter is a Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award winner. Porter began his music career in 1997 with the release of his self-titled (aka Untitled) debut album which spawned the Top 10 “Bubbling Under” single, “Show Me,” and the monster ballad, “Love Is On The Way,” which also appeared at the pivotal moment in the film, “First Wives Club.” He went on to release “At the Corner of Broadway + Soul” (2005), “Billy’s Back on Broadway” (2014), and “The Soul of Richard Rodgers” (2017) featuring Pentatonix, India.Arie, Leslie Odom Jr. and Cynthia Erivo, among others. Porter scored his first #1 with “Love Yourself” in 2019 on the US Dance Club Songs Chart. He followed that up with his 2020 reimagining of the legendary Buffalo Springfield anthem, “For What It’s Worth,” and a fierce collab with The Shapeshifters on “Finally Ready.” 2021 saw Porter covering Juliet Roberts club classic “Caught in The Middle” for Red Hot + Free, which supports underserved communities afflicted with HIV/AIDS. He was also enlisted by multi-platinum international superstar Jessie J for “I Want Love.” And he delivered a magical turn on Earth, Wind, and Fire’s iconic “Shining Star” as Fab G, the Fairy Godmuva, in the 2021 remake of “Cinderella.” Porter is a veteran of the theater (Miss Saigon, Angels in America, Grease). He won a Tony® in the category of “Best Leading Actor in a Musical” for Kinky Boots in 2013, and a GRAMMY® for its Official Soundtrack in the category of “Best Musical Theater Album” in 2014. Porter took home the EMMY® Award for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series” in 2019 for his work as Pray Tell on Pose, making history as being the first openly gay man to do so. Time Magazine named him one of the “100 Most Influential People” of 2020. Billy released his highly anticipated memoir, “Unprotected,” in October 2021. His directorial film debut, “What If,” is set to drop in 2022.

Billy kicks off his next chapter in music, his first love, with a new album coming soon.

A Year in Review : SEVENTEEN

2021 saw SEVENTEEN take the global music scene by storm. They kicked the year off with their U.S. TV debut performance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, released two EPs Your Choice (lead single “Ready to love“) and Attacca (lead single “Rock with you“) as well as their first-ever all English song “2 MINUS 1,” received nominations at multiple U.S. award shows including the Billboard Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards, and were just named MTV’s Global PUSH artist for the month of December, marking the first time a K-pop group has ever received this honor.

2022 will see SEVENTEEN return with new music and more surprises throughout the course of the year.

SEVENTEEN‘s EPs, Your Choice and Attacca, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. They are the first group to have two No. 1s on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart in 2021. Your Choice and Attacca landed at No. 15 and No. 13 on the Billboard 200, respectively. Both sold more than 1 million copies worldwide, earning SEVENTEEN the “quintuple million sellers” title as several other of their albums also sold over 1 million copies each.

They have received critical praise. The Rolling Stone stated, “SEVENTEEN are quickly conquering the U.S. market”. Esquire stated, “SEVENTEEN has emerged as one of the top groups of the pop culture phenomenon and for good reason. Their incredible talent and charm, specialized sub-groups, and active role in all aspects of production all combine to produce K-pop magic”

Peerless Whisky via Peerless Whiskies for use by 360 Magazine

Peerless Named Top Twenty Whiskys

“Double Oak was born of a happy accident, when a leaky barrel forced the distilling team to transfer its liquid to a new charred oak barrel. Exposure to that second barrel gave the whiskey amped-up flavors and lots more complexity. This is a bourbon that has gone into overdrive, and it handles the road just fine. Its syrupy sweet texture is checked by the oak influence, and the palate opens to flavors aplenty—dried peaches, warm apple pie, Christmas spice, gingerbread, raisin cake, chocolate, and pumpkin purée. Perfect as a holiday warmer or a backyard barbecue sipper, this is a whiskey for all seasons,” says David Fleming, Whisky Advocate.

To celebrate, the first 50 bottles of Double Oak Bourbon sold will be signed by Master Distiller Caleb Kilburn. Pre-orders start on Monday, December 13th. Exposing Peerless Bourbon to two separate casks allows for two full barrel extractions resulting in supercharged notes and supreme complexity and mouthfeel. The dedicated Peerless tasting team strategically selects barrels with prominent grain, fruit, and herbaceous notes that are complemented well by the extra barrel character. This population of barrels are packed with flavor yet balanced enough to uphold the Peerless name.

Find out more HERE or visit the distillery at 120 N. 10th Street in downtown Louisville. The distillery is open for tours and tastings by reservation Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All under one roof in Louisville’s Bourbon District, the select grains are milled, cooked, fermented, double-distilled and barreled as bourbon and rye.

Known for his innovative and exciting scores, Pemberton recently won a Critics Choice Award for Best Original Score for The Rescue and was named Film Composer of the Year in 2021 by both the World Soundtrack Awards and the international film music critics association IFMCA. Pemberton, who has composed music for some of today’s top film luminaries including Ridley Scott, Aaron Sorkin, and Danny Boyle, reteamed with Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky for Welcome to Earth, and had this to say about the project:

“In the same way that in Welcome to Earth Will Smith explored some of the most unexpected parts of our planet, I wanted the music to explore some of the most unexpected worlds of sound. The soundtrack had to feel different and unexpected so, like the series itself, you could experience the world in a way you have never seen or heard before. I tried to fuse a vast range for different sounds from all over the globe together-from pulsing electronics to sampled recordings of water, ancient flutes to unusual vocals, the sounds of wildlife with the rhythms of nature-to create a unique sonic palette as rich, visceral and absorbing as the environments Will Smith encounters. I hope that, without even leaving the house, this album can take the listener on their own adventure to some of the most amazing places on this planet. After One Strange Rock it’s been fantastic to re-team with Darren Aronofsky and the team at Nutopia to go on another adventure together with Welcome to Earth,” said Daniel Pemberton
