About Wizkid:

Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (aka Wizkid) began his career in music when he was just 11 years old in Lagos, Nigeria. His first record, Lil Prinz, was recorded in 2001 in collaboration with Glorious Five, a group consisting of Balogun and his friends from church. In 2006, he started pursuing music full-time, at first collaborating with various Nigerian pop acts including OJB JezreelNaeto C, and Banky W. By 2011, he was ready to record his debut studio album as a solo artist: Superstar was released via Empire Mates Entertainment to great critical and public acclaim across Africa, propelling him to stardom in his home country. After multiple delays and label disagreements, Balogun released his sophomore album titled Ayo in 2014. This second studio album had a multitude of guest appearances, including a spot from Femi Kuti. It also featured Balogun’s global breakthrough track “Ojuelegba.” Not only did the single cement his status as one of Nigeria’s biggest pop acts, it was also picked up and remixed by Drake and Skepta, thrusting Wizkid into the international spotlight. In return, Wizkid appeared on Drake‘s 2016 smash single “One Dance.”

In March 2017, it was announced that Wizkid had signed a major deal with RCA and Sony International, which released his third LP, Sounds From the Other Side, later that year. A handful of singles appeared in advance of the album, including “Daddy Yo”, “Sweet Love” and “Come Closer”, and were successful; the latter is certified Gold in the USA and the UK .

Following his impressive international campaign, Wizkid refocused energy on his Starboy imprint in Africa. From releasing viral records like “Soco” with his affiliate acts to securing partnerships with brands such as Puma, Wizkid has solidified himself as a millennial pioneer for African entertainment. As an ode to his hometown, Wizkid released his fourth full-length project titled Made in Lagos in 2020 with guest appearances from Burna BoySkeptaDamian MarleyH.E.R, Ella Mai, and more. The album is the highest charting Nigerian album on the Billboard 200 of all time, the longest charting Nigerian album of the century on Billboard World Albums chart, and the first and only African album to be RIAA certified Gold in the US with half a million in sale units. Hit single “Essence” became the first Nigerian song to feature on the Billboard Hot 100 and peak #1 on US urban radio. Made in Lagos, along with his Grammy award winning feature with Beyonce and five sellout shows at the o2 Arena, prove Wizkid’s movement to be one of lasting global impact.

BECKY HILL × MCDONALD’S – “ONLY YOU”

BECKY HILL RELEASES “ONLY YOU”

FROM THE MCDONALDS CHRISTMAS ADVERT 2022

Today, Brit Award winning, chart-topping singer songwriter Becky Hill releases “Only You” (From The McDonald’s Christmas Advert 2022).

BECKY HILL’S “ONLY YOU” (FROM THE MCDONALD’S CHRISTMAS ADVERT) IS AVAILABLE TO STREAM/DOWNLOAD NOW

beckyhill.lnk.to/OnlyYou_

Originally released by Yazoo in 1982, Becky Hill has made the iconic track “Only You” her own with a stripped back acoustic version for The McDonald’s Christmas Advert 2022.

Created by Tom Hooper, the Oscar winning director of The Kings Speech , the 60 second advert serves as a stark reminder that Christmas isn’t for the big, expensive, or flashy – it’s the little moments of togetherness which really help you to get into the spirit of Christmas.

Set to Becky Hill’s atmospheric rendition of “Only You”, the magical film follows the story of a young boy and his loving mum, who both get swept up in the anticipation of Christmas in different ways. He’s busy getting carried away with the innocent excitement of an ever-growing Christmas list, and she’s busy trying to make sure all the preparations are ticked off her mental list. This all culminates on Christmas Eve, when an unexpected visit to McDonald’s reminds them both that at Christmas – it’s the little things that mean the most.

The McDonald’s Christmas Advert 2022 is set to premiere during ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here on Sunday 13th November.

10 pence from every download of Becky Hill’s “Only You” (From The McDonald’s Christmas Advert 2022 in the UK from now until Spring 2023 will be donated to BBC Children in Need(registered charity 802052 in England and Wales and SC039557 in Scotland).

“I am so pleased to be working with McDonald’s once again for this year’s Christmas campaign. This year in particular so many families and young people are struggling with the cost of living and I’m so glad that 10p from every download is donated directly to BBC Children in Need – it’s humbling to see the work that this fantastic charity does and I’m proud to play my part in supporting the young people it helps.” – Becky Hill

This is the second time Becky Hill has partnered with McDonald’s for the Xmas season. She made Alphaville’s tear-jerking Forever Young her own with a stripped back version for The McDonald’s Christmas Advert 2020. The track went on to become Becky’s 10th Top 40 record and has accumulated over 9.9 million streams to date.

With an irrefutable aptitude for writing chart smashing pop songs, Brit Award winning Becky Hill is one of Britain’s most in-demand musical exports of the moment. Described by David Guetta as “one of the very rare queens of dance of music ”, Becky has written and performed on 18x UK Top 40 singles, including six Top 10 singles and one UK #1, and amassed over 22.6 million followers and 4 billion streams on Spotify alone. Becky’s BPI certifications total 13x Platinum, 6x Gold and 4x Silver records, and she was the third most streamed British female solo artist on Spotify in 2021, behind only Dua Lipa and Adele. Her gold-selling debut studio album, Only Honest On The Weekend , released in August 2021 and peaked at #7 on the UK Albums Chart, spawning Platinum- selling UK #3 single “Remember”, which also ended the year as one of the most streamed and best-selling songs of 2021 with over 1 million UK sales.

HELLINGS – KILL ME TO KEEP LOVING YOU

HELLINGS FEATURING SUPERGROUP BAND DROPS DEBUT SINGLE TODAY TITLED “KILL ME TO KEEP LOVING YOU”

ALICE COOPER PLAYS A HAND IN BRETT HELLINGS’ ALL-STAR BAND THAT INCLUDES TOMMY HENRIKSEN (ALICE COOPER, HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES, LADY GAGA, MEAT LOAF); RICHARD FORTUS (GUNS N’ ROSES); BUCK JOHNSON (AEROSMITH, HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES); BILLY SHEEHAN (DAVID LEE ROTH, MR. BIG, STEVE VAI); AND KENNY ARONOFF (JOHN MELLENCAMP, JOHN FOGERTY, SMASHING PUMPKINS)

Hellingswith lead singer Brett Hellings on vocals and an all-star supergroup including Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses), Tommy Henriksen (Alice Cooper, Hollywood Vampires, Warlock, Lady Gaga, Meat Loaf)Buck Johnson (Aerosmith, Hollywood Vampires)Billy Sheehan (David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, Steve Vai), and Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, John Fogerty, Smashing Pumpkins) drops their debut single today titled “Kill Me To Keep Loving You,” just in time for Halloween.

Check out the music video for “Kill Me To Keep Loving You” HERE.  Get the song HERE

“Kill Me To Keep Loving You” was recorded with Brett Hellings on lead vocals, Fortus on lead guitar, Henriksen on guitars and backing vocals; Johnson on keyboards, organ and backing vocals; Sheehan on bass and backing vocals; and Aronoff on drums and percussion.

The track was mixed by Tim Palmer, who has worked his sonic magic for Pearl Jam, U2, Robert Plant and David Bowie, among others; and mastered by Grammy award winning Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Prince, Jeff Buckley, Muse).

An endorsement from Alice Cooper on his radio show, Nights with Alice Cooper,” ultimately led Brett Hellings, a well-traveled singer-songwriter to record with a powerhouse ensemble of the industry’s top session and touring musicians.  It was just a 45 second mention on a syndicated radio show, but for veteran indie rocker Hellings, who has toughed it out over the years and made his mark in NYC, L.A., Nashville and Philly, it felt like a life-changing anointing from a revered rock god.

David Davidian, tour manager for Cooper and The Hollywood Vampires, heard the show, and loved the music so much that he passed it on to some of his musician friends. Free from other commitments due to the pandemic, the new band members embraced the opportunity to work with a dynamic, still emerging frontman.

Though Brett is a prolific songwriter who has been recording his own material since his debut solo 2005 album, Restless, he was happy to make an exception when he heard the original demo for “Kill Me To Keep Loving You” – a tune written by Buck Johnson and Erik Halbig in Nashville as a potential cut for Steven Tyler’s 2016 country-flavored solo debut, We’re All Somebody From Somewhere. “Buck had given me several songs he’d written in the past, and during pre-production, he gave me the song in its raw form,” says Hellings. “The demo was intended to have a very poppy-country vibe, but I could hear its potential as a rock ballad.”

He continues, “I was just getting out of a long, toxic relationship, so the lyrics of the song about someone you love being the worst thing for you hit me hard. It’s got a bigness and is very relatable, whether it connects to a personal experience like I had or anything else in your life that’s killing you — to keep loving it.”

Other songs that Hellings will release in the future – including singles and a potential full album down the road – were written by Hellings, Johnson, Henriksen and Fortus.

Says Henriksen about Brett, “This kid’s a rockstar man, and rockstars are few and far. He’s got something and I can’t wait for people to hear it and I can’t wait for him to get on stage and sing these songs.”

Arnoff continues, “When I first met Brett, he came to my studio and I immediately liked him because he looks you right in the eye, he connects with you, he’s very transparent, he’s right there and he has an incredible loving heart. I just knew it was going to be amazing.”

Adds Johnson, “Surpassed all of my expectations.”

Says Brett, “The coolest thing about working on the Hellings project with these consummate musicians was realizing just how easy and comfortable it can be, and how much I could learn, working in the studio with truly creative people who pour everything they’ve got into making a song perfect.”  He continues, “Everyone was all about getting the best of what we could bring to the art form. So many of my previous band experiences were full of drama and obstacles, but this was all about the music and camaraderie. A lot of great friendships and relationships were forged in the studio, and I’m excited to see where the journey takes us from here.”

Director: François Truffaut
Country: French; Running Time: 116 min
Day for Night chronicles the production of Je Vous Présente Paméla (Meet Pamela, or literally I introduce you to Pamela), a clichéd melodrama starring aging screen icon Alexandre (Jean-Pierre Aumont), former diva Séverine (Valentina Cortese), young heartthrob Alphonse (Jean-Pierre Léaud) and a British actress, Julie Baker (Jacqueline Bisset), who is recovering from both a nervous breakdown and the controversy over her marriage to her much older doctor.

Anxious Nation
Directors: Vanessa Roth, Laura Morton
Country: United States; Running Time: 100 min
Anxious Nation takes a deep look into the crisis of anxiety and mental health in America, especially its crippling impact on kids and families.  Over the past three decades, the biggest public health threats to teenagers in the United States came from binge drinking, drunken driving, teenage pregnancy and smoking. Today, these have been replaced by soaring rates of mental health disorders—especially anxiety. In a rare public advisory in early 2022, the U.S. surgeon general warned of a devastating mental health crisis among adolescents, creating a national emergency. Like pouring gasoline on an already out of control inferno, anxiety and its impact were intensely exacerbated by the pandemic.

WunderLocke Penthouse Suites

WunderLocke unveils design-led Rooftop and Penthouse Suites

Located in Sendling, Munich, newly opened aparthotel WunderLocke by pioneering lifestyle brand Locke, has unveiled its seventh floor rooftop suites and impressive Penthouse Suites. The 360-apartment destination is ideally located in the up-and-coming neighbourhood of Sendling and brings a hospitality concept like no other to the Bavarian capital. WunderLocke provides suites for leisure and business travellers alike, offering eleven one-bedroom open plan suites, three two-bedroom penthouse suites, and the WunderLocke Penthouse Suite.

The design of the seventh-floor suites was overseen by renowned interior architects Holloway Li who took advantage of the striking views of the alps. The impressive 126sqm WunderLocke Penthouse Suite boasts an expansive stand-alone bathtub, offering guests the ultimate relaxation. The colour scheme throughout is anchored by natural earth tones and rich botanical greens, with biophilic insertions and natural materials creating a feeling of serenity. Munich-based multidisciplinary artist Monika Morito was also commissioned to paint a small mural in sunset tones which features in the space. In addition, the WunderLocke Penthouse Suite features its own private terrace complete with a jacuzzi configured to maximise and amplify its unique setting, while the 100sqm Two Bedroom Penthouse Suite features spectacular city views. Both penthouse suites also feature separate living quarters, an eight-person dining table, and two king-size beds in two separate bedrooms. In signature Locke style, both penthouse suites include a fully-equipped kitchen complete with a microwave oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer and cooking gear.

This was our first opportunity to design Penthouse suites for Locke and we were spoiled by the panoramic views the building afforded. Our design scheme for the penthouses chimed with the overall concept for WunderLocke, both paying homage to the heritage of the host building by retaining the exposed concrete shell and using natural materials as well as a thoughtful colour palette and greenery to provide a fitting counterpoint to the machine-age setting of the space. We hope the spaces provide both a sense of renewal as well as a connection to the wonderful surrounding city.”- Alex Holloway, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Holloway Li.

For the seventh-floor suites, Holloway Li mirrored the landscape of the alps in the distance to the lateral flow of the apartments. The 31m² Rooftop One Bedroom Open Plan Suites are complete with rooftop terraces, living spaces and fully equipped kitchens complete with dining tables and more.

For The WunderLocke Penthouse Suite and the Rooftop One Bedroom Open Plan Suites  featuring splendid terraces, Holloway Li worked with artist Claire de Quénetain to create bespoke fabrics for each of the external terrace loungers; her painterly illustrations take inspiration from natural settings and provide the perfect counterpoint to the building’s industrial past.

All seventh floor suites along with the WunderLocke Penthouse Suite feature Locke’s signature perks, including air conditioning, a power shower with Kinsey Apothecary toiletries, blackout curtains, private, superfast Wi-Fi, a Smart HDTV with Chromecast, a separate living area and a fully-equipped kitchen, microwave oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer. The urban roof garden, opening in Spring 2023, will also be accessible from the seventh floor.

WunderLocke’s size and location allowed us to really expand on our suite offerings, providing a private sanctuary for our guests where they can enjoy an elevated experience in our spectacular suites with unrivalled views of the alps and city.” Eric Jafari, Chief Development Officer & Creative Director, edyn.

Lifestyle aparthotel brand Locke opened WunderLocke in July 2022, continuing its European expansion. The property includes 360 spacious design-led apartments, a large co-working area, meeting and event spaces as well as an outdoor heated swimming pool, sauna and workout studio and a food and drink concept unparalleled in Germany in the form of ‘Mural Farmhouse’: five food and drink destinations spread across seven floors conceived by the founders of revered local Michelin-starred restaurant, Mural.

The Two Bedroom Penthouse Suite starts from €450, the WunderLocke Penthouse Suite starts from €520, the Two Bedroom Suites starts from €275 and the Rooftop One Bedroom Open Plan Suites starts from €150.

"Big Ben" by Jack Inglis via 360 MAGAZINE

Rare sculpture of Big Ben on auction

FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS

Rare sculpture of Big Ben heads to auction

A rare scale model of ‘Big Ben‘ commissioned by the British Travel and Holidays Association in 1965 to promote Britain in America, is to be offered at auction. The world-recognised clock tower at the Palace of Westminster was chosen as the iconic symbol of the country abroad and

The model was to be used for promotional purposes. While the tower is known colloquially as ‘Big Ben’, the name actually applies to the ‘Great Bell’ contained within the tower but is usually extended to include the tower itself. The official name of the tower in which ‘Big Ben’ is located was called the ‘Clock Tower’, until 2012 when it was renamed the ‘Elizabeth Tower’ to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The 99.5cm high model was produced by stage designer-turned model-maker Jack Inglis in his London ‘Toltec Studio’ and came complete with a working clock, light and its own bespoke travelling case. The model took six weeks to make and was entirely crafted by hand from wood and paper, with hand painted finishing.

Correspondence between the Association and the sculptor details the requested specifications, such as: “I would like it accurately to scale” and “coloured as the original”, with an “operative parliamentary light and clock”. A Daily Express article from 1972 features the sculptor with his handcrafted model, alongside the real-life ‘Big Ben’ on Westminster Bridge, where he’s introduced as creating ‘masterpieces of realism from balsa and card.’ The article goes on to say that perhaps the most flattering testimonial to his talents came from the keeper of Tower Bridge, who when shown a photograph of the model adamantly refused to believe it wasn’t the real thing.

Senior Valuer, British and European Sculpture at Dreweatts, Silas Currie Leigh-Wood says: “We are delighted to offer such a fine example of model making craftmanship, depicting one of London’s most iconic buildings”. The model was given to the current owner directly by the sculptor for his birthday 17 years ago and has remained in its’ box all of this time.

It will be offered for auction at Dreweatts in a sale titled Property from the Phillip Lucas Collection, Spitalfields House and other Properties including Garden Furniture and Statuary on December 1, 2022 and carries an estimate of £800-£1,200 (lot 655).

LHCA × Textile Exchange: Definition of “Leather”

U.S. Leather Industry Applauds Adoption of ‘Leather’ Definition by Textile Exchange

The Leather and Hide Council of America (LHCA), the trade body representing the U.S. hide, skin, and leather industry, applauds fashion industry standards and certification organization Textile Exchange for its recent adoption of an official definition of “leather” as a material created from the hide or skin of an animal. LHCA encourages other organizations and companies in the fashion and footwear sectors to follow suit in order to encourage increased transparency in materials labeling.

According to a statement issued to its membership on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022, Textile Exchange adopted widespread legal terminology for the definition of ‘leather,’ noting that it is aligning  with the EU directive 94/11/EC, ISO 15115, and EN 15987:2015, which state that “leather” is defined as “a hide or skin with its original fibrous structure more or less intact and tanned so it does not rot.”

“This is a significant step forward in market transparency and consumer labeling,” said Stephen Sothmann, President of the Leather and Hide Council of America. “For too long, fashion and footwear brands have hidden the true materials profile of their products from consumers by using ambiguous and misleading terms such as ‘vegan leather.’ We thank Textile Exchange for taking such an important step to promote truth in labeling and hope the organization’s member brands will embrace increased transparency in consumer marketing.”

Textile Exchange’s notice further stated “Materials that do not meet the definition above will not be described by Textile Exchange as leather, regardless of any past designation or common usage of the term.” This decision impacts the labeling of products on the market typically described a “vegan leather,” “mushroom leather,” “fruit leather,” and other derivatives made primarily of plastics, plants, fungi, and a wide range other materials that are often not disclosed to consumers.

A July 2022 consumer survey conducted in the United Kingdom found that 54% of consumers were confused by marketing terminology such as “vegan leather” and could not properly identify the material’s composition.
