Going in Reverse of Graphics Escalation

When one thinks of the cutting edge in gaming, graphics are what comes to mind. How well does this game render characters and the environment? How real does it look? Video games continue to push the boundaries of what modern computers could do. What was once science fiction is now a household name.

As spectacular as these games are to behold, they represent only one part of the gaming market. Not all popular games embrace the hyper-detailed graphics of AAA studio games. Other gamers embrace simpler, less tech-intensive art styles. Many of these games are as popular with the general public for a plethora of reasons. They’ve since carved a niche for themselves in a world where hyperrealism is king.

The Road to Realism

Today’s hyper-real graphics reflect developments that fueled gaming since the early days. Then as now, graphical sophistication was a major selling. Consoles duked it out to see which could render games with better graphics. Each new console and game promised better art than the last. Meanwhile, PC gamers, with their customized rigs, could push graphics even further.

Amazing graphics can immerse players into the worlds they play. Many of the big names in gaming today boast of immersive, hyper-realistic environments. Today’s visual spectacles like Assassin’s Creed and Final Fantasy rival theatrical animated films in detail. The best of these games bring historical and fantasy environments to life at home.

The Limits of Hyperrealism

But as amazing as these visuals would look on screen, it comes at a heavy price. In a very literal sense, playing these games is not easy on the pocket. Many titles from AAA studios are quite demanding from technology. Both consoles and an excellent gaming PC come with a hefty price tag. This proves to be a great barrier to entry for gamers on a budget.

Meanwhile, PC gamers must also contend with the complexity of customization. It takes awhile to learn the ropes of the visual settings. The average player must be patient when tweaking them to one’s liking. Even dialing down the graphics is confusing for the novice.

Games that aim for too much realism stand the risk of evoking the uncanny valley. This term was first coined by roboticist Masahiro Mori in the 1970s to describe unsettling robots. Its impact on realistic graphics, however, mustn’t be understated. Even small breaks in realism will be off putting for audiences. Avoiding this is a taxing endeavor. One either attempts to amp up realism (which is costly) or embrace a more stylized depiction. The best 2D and 3D games, fortunately, avoid the worst of this.

Finally, the aesthetic that comes with games takes a toll on development teams. Game development studios have come under fire for crunch culture that overworks and underpays their developers. Often, this has roots in the near-impossible deadlines brought on by game hype. And better 3D graphics don’t always lead to a better product. The buggy messy Cyberpunk 2077 fiasco alone proves that.

A Different Direction

The big names in gaming embraced more elaborate, graphics-intensive art styles. Others, meanwhile, chose a different path. Many indie developers embraced stylized 3D or more isometric or side-scrolling art styles. Mostly, this was a budgetary choice. Advancements in technology have made developing 2D games cheaper and faster.

In the heyday of Flash, developers could build a simple vector graphics game within days or weeks. It allowed indie developer communities to flourish. Soon, sites like Kongregate and Newgrounds had massive archives of 2D games. Even today, older games once made in Flash could be found in archival sites like Plays.org.

Today, developer teams can create complex games using either 2D engines or a hybrid of 2D and 3D graphics. By eschewing the complexities of hyperreal graphic engines, they can focus on refining other aspects of gameplay. Choosing less graphics-intensive visuals also lets them experiment with other genres. Many small titles embrace 2D graphics without sacrificing storytelling. A cartoony point-and-click, Broken Age toys with two different yet unified narratives.

A Flourishing Market

There are a host of reasons why people gravitate toward games with cartoonish art styles. Lower-tier 3D games won’t tax computer hardware as much. Meanwhile, all but the slowest low-end computers can play 2D Flash or HTML games without a hitch.

Devs can even port these games into social media. There was a reason why elderly gamers flocked to Farmville in its heyday, after all. Mobile gaming also fueled the development of less graphic-intensive games. Side-scrollers and isometric games play smoother in smartphones. By using cartoonier and flatter visuals, these games don’t sap the phone’s batteries. Players on mobile can sink hours into these games. This is a lucrative outcome for mobile game developers.

This level of accessibility and portability can prove to be a winning ticket. InnerSloth’s game Among Us, follows the same cel-shaded 2D style of its previous releases. This simple spot-the-impostor social game became a pop culture phenomenon in 2020.

More Than a Throwback

The appeal of 2D gaming lingered even after the rise of 3D graphics. The most popular games in the 1990s still had dedicated communities well into 2010. Some older games, like Age of Empires, enjoyed incredible appeal through gameplay alone. First released in 1999, Age of Empires II continued to have a fan following well into the 2010s. This led to the development of not one but two remasters of the game. It was also followed by several new expansions introducing a mix of new playable cultures.

Throwbacks to retro-style gameplay became a selling point by the 2010s. The wildly successful game Cuphead combined 1980s-style gameplay with 2D 1930s-style cartoons to great effect. This and other games like it capitalized on a niche that 3D platformers couldn’t fill. They also introduced a new generation of gamers to the joys of 2D platform gaming.

Nostalgia didn’t play as big a role in the staying power of these games as one would think. Many developers created side-scrollers to experiment with unique gameplay concepts. Braid played around with time control, creating tactical challenges for the player. These simple games also play around with many game conventions. The popular Undertale subverts the idea that video game characters should slaughtering their enemies. Here, you have the option to negotiate. Different actions create varying outcomes for the player… all in glorious pixelated 2D.  Through its plot twist, Braid makes a statement on how you see its player character.

A Niche of Their Own

There’s room in the larger gaming community for both 2D and 3D games in various levels of realism. Each level of graphics have their own appeal and cater to different types of players. Not every game needs realistic lighting to suspend a gamer’s disbelief.

Graphics-intensive 3D games grew with the idea that video games should be immersive. They are at once a technical and artistic achievement. The best of them are a spectacle that can captivate gamers from all walks of life. Games on the lower end of the graphic scale, however, are no slouches in that department. Some stand out as interactive artistic expressions. They can be an exciting challenge to play and ponder. Others offer a fun and enthralling experience that keeps players on their toes.

Less graphic intensive games add more variety to the gaming market. The lower graphic requirements let developers introduce new gameplay and story concepts. The lower barrier to entry also helps make these games more accessible to a larger audience. Ever wanted a good game that won’t overwork your computer? There’s going to be a 2D or low-end 3D game somewhere.

Starting A Car That Has Been Sitting For Months

Whether you’re going on vacation for a while or temporarily relocating to another location for work, you may need to leave your vehicle for an extended period of time without using it.

If you are in this situation, it’s important to know how not driving your car for a month or more will affect its performance, including its ability to safely start.

What Happens If You Don’t Start Your Car For A Month?

Cars are designed to be driven, not to sit idle for months. When left unused, engine fluids start to break down and parts that aren’t getting lubricated begin to corrode. Even worse–animals may move in, chewing on anything they can reach. Rodents often chew through wiring harnesses or other car parts that are made out of organic materials, which can cause substantial damage.

Tires are also affected by inactivity. When a car is not being used, the air will slowly start to leak out of its tires, especially in the cold weather. The weight of the vehicle will press down onto the deflating tires, which can cause flat spots. Filling the tires with air often solves this problem, but sometimes flat spots become permanent.

Moisture can also start to accumulate in the gas tank if the car is left unused for a long period of time. Over time, this can lead to corrosion.

How long can a car be left unused? In general, the longer a car sits, the worse these problems can become. But, it’s not all bad news.

Leaving A Car Unused For 3 Months? Here’s What to Do Before Starting It

If you plan on leaving your vehicle unused, it’s important to know how to start a car that has been sitting for two weeks, two months, or even two years.

Even after a few months, most modern cars can still be safely started. That is, providing the battery still holds a charge. However, there are a few simple checks you should make first. This will help you quickly identify problems while making sure your car is safe to start.

Here’s what to do:

Check The Engine Oil

Check the oil level using your vehicle’s dipstick. If you’re not sure where the dipstick is located, refer to your owner’s manual for a diagram. The correct oil level should be between the two indicator marks on the dipstick.

Be sure the engine is cooled off for at least ten minutes before you check the oil. When you go to check the oil not only should you take notice of the level, but also you should observe the color and consistency. If this oil is thick and gritty and the color is dark, then it’s likely time for an oil change. Be aware that if your oil level is low, you should not drive your vehicle until you have topped it off to the recommended level with the recommended oil.

Check All Exterior Lights

Check that your headlights, fog lights, high-beam lights, brake lights, reverse lights, and indicators are all working before you head out on the road. The easiest way to do this is to grab a friend or family member, so one person can activate the various lights and the other can check if they’re working.

Check For Signs Of Leaks

Before you check the engine oil and coolant levels, take a look at the floor under the car to see if there are any signs that something has been leaking. As a general rule, you can typically narrow down the issue by observing the color of leak, though it’s always best to have a professional inspect and diagnose the leak before driving:

  • Black or light brown usually indicates an engine oil leak
  • Red or brown usually indicates a transmission leak
  • Clear, red or brown usually indicates a power steering leak
  • Transparent yellow or brown usually indicates a brake system leak

Driving your car while it’s leaking fluid can cause serious (and expensive) damage. It’s important to avoid driving if there are any signs of a leak. Check for any leaks underneath your car before taking your car for a drive for the first time in months.

Check The Brake Fluid

To check your vehicle’s brake fluid level, you need to identify the brake master cylinder reservoir. It is typically mounted at the rear of the engine, in line with the position of the brake pedal. Your owner’s manual should be able to show you exactly where it’s located.

You’re simply performing a visual check of the fluid level against the markings on the translucent brake fluid reservoir. Remove the cap of the reservoir and note if the fluid looks healthy or dirty. If your brake fluid is low, it could indicate a problem with your brakes that will need repair as soon as possible. Dirty brake fluid can indicate water contamination has occurred, in which the vehicle’s brake system will need to be flushed.

Inspect The Battery

The first issue you may encounter if your car is left idle for an extended period of time is car battery problems. Batteries slowly lose voltage over time when left idle. If you haven’t had your car hooked up to a trickle charger or any other type of voltage maintainer, the voltage will have likely dropped below the amount necessary to start the car. Jump starting your vehicle may solve the problem. After the jump start, let your vehicle run for 5 – 10 minutes to recharge the battery. Then, switch it off and attempt to restart it. If your car won’t restart, there could be a problem with the battery or your vehicle’s electrical system. This issue can leave you stranded if it’s not remedied.

Before you attempt to jump-start your vehicle, remove the battery cables and check that the battery terminals are clean and clear of debris and corrosion.

Ideally, the battery should have a full charge before the vehicle goes into storage. Further, the battery should be disconnected from the engine to prevent discharging. The charge should be checked every three months. The battery should be recharged if it drops under around 12.4 volts.

Check The Gas

It only takes one month for the gas in your tank to start breaking down. As the lighter components of gas evaporate and oxidate, gas loses its combustibility and becomes less effective. As it degrades, it forms a gummy residue that gets released into the fuel system– increasing the likelihood of a blockage occurring. Old fuel can cause an engine to misfire and stall.

Obviously, we don’t recommend sniffing gasoline, but gas that has started to break down will have a distinct sour smell that resembles the smell of varnish. One option is to siphon a small amount out of your fuel tank and check the color. Old gas will be darker than fresh gasoline, and you may even be able to see the gumminess that have started to form.

If your car has been sitting for three months or longer, it is recommended to drain the tank and fill it with fresh fuel. For a car that has been sitting for a month or two, it is recommended to top up the fuel tank with fresh gas and dilute the old gas before it passes through your vehicle’s fuel system.

Finally, if you find you just aren’t driving your car much and it’s likely to sit idle for 30 days or more, a fuel stabilizer should be added to the gas. This will prevent degradation for up to 12 months. It is the easiest way to avoid damage to your cars fuel system.

Inspect The Tires

A visual check of the tires should be performed to make sure they are in good condition, before attempting to drive the vehicle. Air pressure should be checked and adjusted to the manufacturer’s recommended psi. This can be found on a sticker that is usually located on the driver’s door jamb. You could also find the recommended psi for your tires in your owner’s manual.

Upon inspection, your tires may look normal. But, when you get behind the wheel to take your car for its first spin in months, instead of the familiar smooth ride you may feel a vibration through the steering wheel and hear an unfamiliar noise. This is caused by a flat spot in the tire– a problem for any car that sits idle for extended periods of time.

This occurs when a stationary tire has to bear the load of a vehicle for an extended period. As the weight of the vehicle presses down, the bottom of the tire spreads out on the ground. As time goes on, the rubber gets stiffer, leaving flat spots on the tire.

Generally speaking, as you drive the car and the tires get warm and regain flexibility, the flat spots will disappear. This usually takes around 15 minutes. In extreme winter temperatures, these flat spots can become permanent if a vehicle hasn’t moved for several months.

Tires can develop flat spots if your car sits for an extended amount of time. Check your tire pressure before starting your car again to make sure it is at the recommended psi.

Check For Rodents

When the weather cools off, rats and mice look for warmer shelter and can be disastrous for car owners as their engine bay doubles as this season’s hottest rodent hotel. After mice have made a car their new home, their sharp teeth can cause serious damage to engine hoses, plastic panels, and wiring.

Signs that your car may have a mouse problem include:

  • Droppings and an associated bad smell
  • Unfamiliar noises when you switch on the fan or heater, indicating the presence of a nest
  • Food scraps in unusual places
  • Check engine light on your dash, indicating wiring damage
  • Bite marks on hoses and wires

Getting mice out of your car can be a time-consuming job. Not only will you have to find and remove their nest, but you’ll also have to clean and disinfect the area around the nest, and more than likely repair any damage they caused. There are many methods to prevent mice from moving back in such as spraying peppermint oil or putting out moth balls. Forget the ultrasonic sound repellants though–they won’t do anything besides put a hole in your wallet.

How Often Should You Start Your Car

Leaving a car unused for three months—or even three weeks—is not ideal. If possible, start your vehicle a couple of times per month when it is not being used. It’s best to not only start the vehicle, but to also drive it for about ten miles before putting it back in storage.

Starting the vehicle without taking it out for a quick spin will warm up the engine, but nothing else. It could also drain the vehicle’s battery, which will make it harder to start next time.

On the other hand, starting the car and driving it for 10 miles will fully warm up other parts of the vehicle, including the transmission, brakes, and suspension. Driving this short distance will also give your vehicle’s battery a chance to recharge, so it’s easier to start in the future.

Consider asking a close friend or relative to help.  Maybe they can take your car out once in a while when they go out to dinner or to run chores.

How to Prepare For Not Driving Your Car For A Month

If you plan on leaving a car unused for 3 months, there are certain steps you can take to keep it in good condition during this period of inactivity. Here’s what to do:

  • Use a car cover. You should always cover a vehicle that is not being used—even if you are storing it indoors. A car cover can protect your vehicle from long-term storage hazards, such as bad weather and animals.
  • Wash it. Be sure to thoroughly wash your vehicle before putting it in storage. Leaving water stains or other debris on your vehicle for a long period of time can lead to paint damage.
  • Get an oil change. An oil change will remove the dirty oil, which contains contaminants that could damage your engine while the vehicle isn’t being used.
  • Fill your gas tank. If the gas tank is empty or even half full, moisture will start to accumulate if the vehicle is not being used. To prevent this problem, fill the gas tank prior to putting your vehicle in storage.
  • Place the vehicle on jack stands. If you plan on not driving your car for a month or more, it’s best to take the wheels off and prop the vehicle up on jack stands. This requires additional work, but it will prevent flat spots and other forms of tire damage.
  • Don’t use the parking brake. Rust can form in the braking system if the vehicle is left in storage for a long period of time. If the parking brake is applied, this rust can cause the brake pads to fuse together with the rotor. That’s why it’s best not to use the parking brake before leaving your vehicle for a month or longer.

Following these tips can help preserve the life of your vehicle while it’s not being used.

What to Do If Your Car Takes A Long Time to Start After Sitting

Found a potential problem? Is your car taking a long time to start? Or unsure about any of these steps? The next step is to get a professional to inspect your vehicle and advise you of your options. Car repairs can be expensive, but giving your vehicle a thorough check-over before hitting the road will save you money in the long run.

Car Sharing Has Benefits Related to Sustainability

The individuals who focus on using car-sharing services sometimes do so because it’s a sustainable choice. While many people focus on the personal benefits associated with ride and car sharing, plenty of other customers care just as much about the broader social benefits of these services.

Reduced Driving

People who need car sharing services in cities like Phoenix should be able to call ahead and successfully get a ride whenever it’s necessary. Plenty of modern customers do use a ride and car-sharing services frequently. However, the people who have private vehicles at home will still probably drive more frequently than the customers who primarily use car-sharing services.

Driving can be a leisurely experience to get off of the house. Some might not have a specific destination in mind. Driving has been a recreational activity for a while by this point. When experts consider the environmental impact of automobiles, they often discuss the more practical reasons why people tend to drive cars.

However, there have still been people all throughout the twentieth century who tended to drive just because they liked to do so. Those individuals usually didn’t consider the environmental consequences of recreational driving. Even if public transportation had been easily accessible and available to them, they wouldn’t have chosen it instead, because the act of driving itself was the point.

Car sharing customers usually won’t decide to get rides just for their own sake. They might enjoy these rides, but they wouldn’t pay for the rides if they weren’t trying to reach a particular location.

While it’s possible to help the environment in many ways, the people who drive less frequently will promote environmental sustainability particularly successfully. Some people truly can’t take fewer rides, but many other individuals can make that lifestyle change.

It will be genuinely difficult to reach some sustainability goals if modern people continue to drive the way car owners did throughout the twentieth century. The widespread use of car-sharing services is helping a lot of people find a viable alternative all at once.

Cultural Changes

In many ways, car-sharing teaches people to focus on the wider impacts of each individual car ride. Many car owners have a very casual approach to driving and operating vehicles. They drive regardless of whether it’s strictly necessary, and they drive because they feel like spending time outside. Some of these people might not mind spending more money on gasoline, even as gasoline prices increase.

It’s easy for people to avoid thinking of the implications of these kinds of actions. For a long time, it’s been normal for people to approach driving in a very individualistic way. However, many people are now trying to modify their normal habits to make society more sustainable. It’s particularly important for all people to use less fuel and energy, especially regarding driving.

Drivers might also feel that unless they use a car consistently and frequently enough, they’ll have wasted money by purchasing the machine in the first place. Those people will be able to hold onto the cars that they do have for longer periods of time if they start using car sharing services, of course. They might be able to avoid buying new cars again for a while, potentially saving a little money.

People certainly don’t need to stop driving altogether to adopt more sustainable lifestyles. It’s common for some individuals to drive for several hours every day. When millions of people have habits like this, it can have negative environmental effects. If millions of people are riding in cars sparingly as they use car-sharing services, all society will quickly use less fuel.

What are the benefits of CoD Cold War boosting?

If you’re a player of Call of Duty: Cold War, you know that there is an intricate ranking system involved there and that climbing it is no easy task. Competing against other players from all over the world can be quite a challenge that takes up a lot of your time.

If you want to reach a higher rank, or if you have your eyes set on a particular reward, hiring someone to boost you is often the fastest way to achieve your goal. But apart from that, you may be surprised to know that this kind of boosting can have a few other benefits for you. Read on and learn all about them!

You can get better

Depending on what kind of Cold War boosting you’re going for, there is a variety of elements you can fine-tune to fit your schedule and desires. For example, you can arrange a streaming session through which you will then actually watch your account being boosted through games. In some cases, you can even play and chat with your booster and get right in the middle of the action.

What these two examples achieve is the following: you can see for yourself that there is no cheating involved, just pure grind, plus you can actually learn by watching the booster play and pick up a trick or two. That’s a much better way to learn than losing while in the lower ranks, right?

Customizable orders

The boosting you order can be fully customized to your preferences, so if there are some challenges you would like to try and fulfil on your own, you should be able to arrange with the booster to leave that to you. Thinks like ladder points, KD and level boosts, camo boosts, calling cards or seasonal challenges can all be the focus of this service.

Everything is done with your account’s security in mind, so a reliable boosting service will use SSL encryption and VPN services to make sure no problems ever arise. And if they happen to be playing with your friends, a real professional will not contact them so as not to compromise anything.

The cherry on top is the fact that some boosters even offer to return your money if you are not happy with how things go. Therefore, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. This kind of service can help you enjoy your game so much more.

A few final words

Getting a CoD: Cold War boost doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t participate in the process. You can be in contact with the booster and set everything up so that it fits your schedule perfectly.

At all times you and your account will be perfectly protected, so why not go ahead and pick this up, especially if you’re getting a money-back guarantee with it? After all, if you can play with your booster, imagine how good that’s going to feel.

Good Vibe Gliders, 360 magazine

SPRINKLES

With one of their first-ever gifted e-bikes, Vaughn Lowery envisioned an intuitive tribe of sustainability, fabricating an internal micromobility system. Instead of throwing away the previous unit, we partnered with Good Vibe Gliders to design a bespoke version which has travelled all over North America as a symbol of ecology. It reminds us all to maintain carbon neutrality.

  1. What is your main source of passion that led to creating custom-designed artistic scooters?

I’ve always had a creative spirit that most likely stems from my mom, who was an event and party decorator. In my late teens, I worked for the costume shop at the Gaslight Theatre in Tucson, AZ. Around that same time, my dad gifted me with his 1977 El Camino Classic. I loved TV shows like Overhaulin’ and Pimp My Ride. Naturally, I started spending time customizing my El Camino with my Dad, creating custom upholstery at the costume shop. I rocked blue-tinted glasses all the time and wore my hair all funky. It was cool that I had parents who let me figure myself out in that way. I never felt impeded. But then I went to college and life changed from muscle cars to academia. While in college, my design eye flourished. My frat room was a pretty ridiculous sight to see. The room and loft resembled all the colors featured on a Buzz Lightyear. My room was Star Command, complete with black and white checkered tile, cosmic blue walls, bright orange curtains, red trimming, clouds on the roof, and of course, glow-in-the-dark stars. It was just cool.

I was always out there with the things I wanted to do, and it was cool that I found a way to do them.

  1. What motivated you to focus on scooter products rather than another form of transportation?

The reason for the electric scooter is a direct result of my experience at camping festivals. At the first-ever Good Vibe Getdown (the company name is a forever homage to this festival), I set up my camp way too far from everybody else. Although it was the most beautiful spot onsite (right on the banks of Apache Lake) it took FOREVER to walk back and forth. A bicycle wouldn’t work because you still have to exert energy and I was not about that life. So, I thought of the most effective form of transportation at a camping festival: an electric scooter. I bought an e-scooter and decorated it entirely in jewels. When we got to Good Vibe 2 that next year, I didn’t even get to ride it. It was a smashing success. I remember seeing grown men fight over the chance to ride it next. That’s when I realized, “Wow, people are loving this. No one has ever really seen anything like this before.” My Gliders are fun, exaggerated, over-the-top, extra in every way, shape, & form, and instantaneously make you the center of attention. That’s crazy. You honestly can’t help but be the center of attention when a scooter looks like that. Put a Good Vibe Glider next to a regular scooter, and the answer is simple.

Lastly, there’s an element of luck to which I give credit. It turned out to be perfect timing to start decorating scooters because no more than a year later, rideshare scooters started popping up all over my city. I didn’t start GVG because of the scooter trend. I started GVG because it helped direct my creative energy in a positive way, and soon I had a fleet and started helping my friends run their festivals more efficiently.

  1. What was the first festival where you chose to implement the gliders and why did you choose that specific one?

Good Vibe 2 is where I had my ah-ha moment, but Good Vibe 3 was full-on intentional. I designed and created one Glider for the festival coordinator and made two more Gliders for the festival attendees to glide around on. I even built a charging station in the middle of the desert so that when the batteries got low, riders would pull up and plug in their scooters. It was very cool to see my vision come to life: homies helping homies hold it down, faster, stronger, and more efficiently.

  1. How did your past design experience help you succeed in producing these Good Vibe Gliders?

As you know, I’ve always had it in me. My early work at the Gaslight Costume Shop, helping produce costumes and props was pivotal. I had great direction and instruction from two of the best designers in the business, MaryAnne and Renee. Most of my designer confidence came out of working with them.

  1. How have Festival Event staff and Coordinators reacted to their use of gliders?

Simple: they lose their freakin‘ minds. They can’t get enough of it. If they didn’t understand it before they definitely understood it after. It’s cool being the guy with the electric scooters because there are so many instances at a festival where you need to get somewhere quickly. So many situations – medical assistance, needing to find somebody or lost equipment. Other times, equipment needs to be transported long distances without access to a truck. I’ve been able to directly help those folks just by having a scooter present. There was this one stagehand at Juniper Jam who said, “Seriously, I don’t ever want to do another festival without one of these things. Can you go talk with my boss please?”

  1. Do you have any plans to expand your market for these scooters? And if so, how will you do so?

If you’d asked me this about five months ago, my answer would have been much more different. Because of the virus, the hospitality industry took a huge hit and people are definitely not riding electric scooters like they used to. These days GVG has naturally expanded into accessories. Not long after I made my first Glider did people start asking me to bedazzle and theme other stuff, as well. By no means are we leaving the bedazzled PEV market, that’s our bread and butter. However, I also consider us lucky to have an alternative direction to pivot. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how well-received my Good Vibe Shine Goggles have been. Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Winner George Clinton even rocks a pair.

  1. Do you work with or have any plans to work with any non-profit, community service, or charity organizations?

More than ever, we are willing to work with community and charity organizations to help make an impact on the lives of others. Last month, we sponsored a 24-hour Virtual Festival fundraiser featuring 24 DJs, 8 live artists, and 4 workshops. Our fundraiser achieved over $1,500.00.

Earlier this year, Sprinkles (the 360 Glider made by Good Vibe Gliders) lent a helping hand at the AIDS Walk Arizona 2020. My neighbor Nancy is one of the event coordinators and was amazed by Sprinkles! Right before the event, Nancy sprained her knee and was scheduled to undergo surgery the following week. She was depressed about the situation and bummed to think she wouldn’t be of much use at the event. However, once we offered her the Glider, her frown turned upside down and she killed it. She still thanks me to this day.

  1. What would you say is the greater purpose of selling these glider products?

Generating pure happiness. What’s most amazing to me is that we have a product that genuinely creates happiness in the minds of the rider. It’s something I see every time, whether the scooter belongs to you or not. The first time you sit on a Glider, the next 15 seconds of your life is bliss. You forget about absolutely everything. The rider smiles uncontrollably, scootin’ and zippin’ around, like, “oh my gosh, I totally forgot how awesome scooters are!” They are childlike once again, if only for a few moments, and that’s unbelievable to me. In every project, our goal is to produce something the customer won’t just like, but something they will love.

  1. How did you assemble your team of glider creators together?

Most of my co-creators stem from the amazing group of artists I met during the Good Vibe Getdown years. These guys & gals are creative juggernauts, powerhouses at their trade, and a driving force that can’t be stopped. I quickly realized the more I worked with other artists, the better my final product would be. Soon, other artists started taking interest. I would bring a Glider with me almost everywhere I went. Artists saw what I was doing and often would say, “Oh – you’re weird and unique; Here’s what I do, I bet we can collaborate together.” And just like that, I create friends. My products are generating work for local artists with tangible, green-in-their-pocket work. So as sales began to pick up and people started trusting the GVG brand, I could keep my artists happy based on the rate I charge my clients. Collaboration is now baked right into our business model. More so, I really like showcasing other artists. I want to show people what they can do – and if you like their work, you can work with them specifically to design yourself a custom Glider.

  1. Are these scooters just meant for festivals or are any other parties interested in buying them?

Our Gliders are made for any reason at all. We cater to large events because of our festival roots, but your Glider can be absolutely anything you want it to be. We love getting wild, so go wild! Scooters are no longer fringe transportation; people use them all the time so it’s much easier to pitch a decorated scooter to just about any industry and event. Gliders are perfect for expos, conventions, street fairs, tailgates, food trucks, personal use, business marketing, festivals & production, sports & teams, schools & clubs, weddings & gifts, restaurant & service industry, festivals & production, fairgrounds, business retreats, birthdays, schools & church, parties, etc.

On a personal note, back in November, I was married to my best friend, Addie. Our wedding was three days long, hosted at the base of the Bulldog Buttes at Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch. That place is gorgeous, and sprawling. Hands down, the most incredible weekend of my life! But I can tell you this: without a doubt, if we didn’t have the Gliders there, many things would not have worked out. The unexpected need to get from one side of the property to the other was anticipated, but little did I know these Gliders would play such a major role in getting us out of some tight situations.
