Ronnie Wood Shares Two New Singles

RONNIE WOOD SHARES TRACKS SHAME, SHAME, SHAME + ROLL AND RHUMBA

FROM THE RONNIE WOOD BAND MR LUCK, A TRIBUTE TO JIMMY REED: LIVE AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL SEPTEMBER 17TH 2021

PRE-ORDER THE ALBUM HERE

The Ronnie Wood Band today released two more tracks from the second installment of the live album trilogy – Mr. Luck – A Tribute to Jimmy Reed: Live at the Royal Albert Hall.

Ronnie and friends cover Jimmy Reed’s track Shame, Shame, Shame, originally released in 1963. Keeping true to Reed’s sound in their interpretation, the listener can sense their adoration for the late musician. The Rolling Stones previously included this song in their early setlists, along with others by one of their key influences Jimmy Reed. The B-Side of the Stones February 1964 UK hit single Not Fade Away is thought to have been a pastiche of Shame, Shame, Shame. Paul Weller features on the track, an incredible musician who shot to fame with The Jam and is colloquially known as The Modfather for his influence on the 80s Mod Revival. With its relatable lyrics and lively rhythm, this song has easy listening energy and has been covered many times before by a plethora of musicians.

The Ronnie Wood band also offers their high-energy interpretation of Reed’s instrumental song Roll and Rhumba, a perfect one for any true blues fan. Without the distraction of lyrics, the instruments take center stage and Wood’s incredible musicality comes to the fore.

Released by BMG on 17th September 2021, Mr. Luck – A Tribute to Jimmy Reed: Live at the Royal Albert Hall’ is the 18-track album featuring The Ronnie Wood Band including Mick Taylor with incredible special guests, Bobby Womack, Mick Hucknall, and Paul Weller and pays tribute to one of Ronnie’s musical heroes and major influences, the Mississippi electric blues pioneer Jimmy Reed.

The album is recorded live on a memorable night at the Royal Albert Hall on November 1, 2013. With unique album artwork specially created by Ronnie, Mr. Luck will be available digitally, on CD, as a vinyl release, and as a beautiful limited-edition dual-tone smoky blue vinyl.

A ‘Tayle’ of Two Sidemen

When self-taught guitarist Eddie Taylor imparted his skills onto his friend Jimmy Reed, he surely couldn’t have imagined the effect this was to have on the Chicago blues scene. Backing up such luminaries as John Lee Hooker, he is best remembered for his work with his former student.

Sweet coincidence, then, that in 1974 another Taylor, Mick, would make way for Ronnie Wood in the Rolling Stones, paving the way for these two friends and celebrated guitarists to work on projects ever since. The culmination of this to date is Taylor’s place in The Ronnie Wood Band at the Royal Albert Hall for 2013’s Bluesfest, where they played the now-legendary set that would come to birth to this recording.

In regard to Mr. Luck, Ronnie comments: Jimmy Reed was one of the premier influences on the Rolling Stones and all the bands that love American blues from that era until the present day. It is my honor to have the opportunity to celebrate his life and legacy with this tribute.

This album marks the second iteration in a trilogy of special and personal albums by Wood and the band, celebrating Ronnie’s musical heroes. The first album, Mad Lad explored the work of Chuck Berry as an emotional commemoration after Berry’s passing just over two years ago. Ronnie toured with Berry and was a lifelong fan.

Merci – China Tiger

Merci Release New Single China Tiger

D.C. alternative quintet Merci release their new single China Tiger via Rise Records: LISTEN HERE and watch the video HERE.

Lyrically, the new single is vulnerable, expressive, and near and dear to the band members’ hearts. Fittingly, they directed and filmed the accompanying visual themselves. Describing the song as a powerful and honest expression of the pressure the members were feeling when creating it, lead singer Seth Coggeshall shares:

In August 2019, a lot was changing. We had just signed to Rise Records and were getting ready to take our first trip as a band to LA. However, parallel to the excitement, pressure and opportunity that was surrounding us were the somber realities that Jack’s mom was dying of cancer, while Colby was in rehab. When I heard about how sick Jack’s mom had become, my heart broke for him. I was struck by the painful irony of our achievements coinciding with Colby’s struggle and Jack’s coming loss.

When I sat down to write the beginnings of ‘China Tiger’, my mind was very much on Jack and his mother. I thought about things like the inevitability of life, responsibility to friends, and defiance in the face of tragedy. I imagined us all as a China tiger, the fragile embodiment of something powerful and beautiful. I imagined us withstanding the trial that was his mother’s passing, coalescing as brothers, and healing through the adventures we would have together.

China Tiger arrives on the heels of the band’s recently released EP, Subtle Fiction I, which they first teased in 2020 with their debut single Foolish Me. Earlier this year, they released the next single Haunt Me, along with its accompanying cinematic visual inspired by the Eggers Brothers’ film The Lighthouse. Check out the video for Never Coming Back HERE.

So talented – Justin Bieber

Rising singer-songwriter Sam Tompkins, who has been championed by Elton John, Bastille and Justin Bieber, releases brand new single (w)hole today.

Produced by Laconic, the emotionally charged (w)hole not only showcases Tompkins’ powerful vocals but also his ability to intimately convey his own relatable experiences through candid, heartfelt lyrics. We all, at times, need to find that human connection to bring us out of an ocean sized hole.

I think ‘(w)hole’ is sort of a realisation of knowing that not every problem in the world can be fixed by one person, says Sam. If there is meaning or purpose to this life, it has to come from being and working alongside one another.

The accompanying music video for (w)hole is directed by award winning TV/Film director Josef Bates and set inside an elevator. A metaphorical deep dive into Sam’s mindscape, it charts his journey from a state of disconnect from hope and the positive side of life, back to happiness but by the end once he finds an escape.

(w)hole is the first official release from Sam Tompkins in 2021, and the first cut to be taken from his upcoming third EP release. It follows his 2020 released quarantine EP Isolation Diaries and singles Charlie and Kings.

22-year-old, Sam Tompkins started out busking on the streets of his local town, Brighton, and was signed to Island Records in 2019 after he caught their attention with his independently released debut EP Coloured Emotions which garnered over half a million streams.

Sam has performed live or recorded alongside Krept and Konan, Jason Derulo, Jaykae and MNEK, and welcomed support from the likes of Elton John and Bastille through to Channing Tatum and Justin Bieber, who, in a recent IG live chat with Sam told him You’re so talented… You’re already making an impact… You’re speaking to people’s heart with your music and its pretty awesome.

Alongside writing in lockdown last year, Sam posted a string of covers on his socials including ones of Bruno Mars’ Talking To The Moon and Beyonce’s Halo, which have notched up over 10 million views on Instagram and 3 million views on TikTok. With over 450,000 followers on Instagram and 430,000 on Tik Tok, Sam is garnering an ever growing, super engaged fanbase through his socials.

In addition to releasing new music this Autumn, Sam is set to embark on a sold-out Headline Tour in UK and Europe. Kicking off in Manchester on the 8th of October at Gorilla and wrapping up in Berlin on the 27th of October at Burg Schnabel, the tour will also see Sam play in London, Birmingham, Dublin, Nottingham, Brighton and Paris (see below for full list of dates). Tickets for the tour are available to purchase HERE.

HD4President shared the official video for his breakthrough hit, Touch Down 2 Cause Hell (Bow Bow Bow). View HERE.

To date, there have been over 1.2 million TikTok creations, including clips by Lizzo, Coi Leray, City Girls, Latto, Niecy Nash, Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba, and over 1.5 billion views on the platform. He’s All That (Music from the Netflix Film)

HE’S ALL THAT (MUSIC FROM THE NETFLIX FILM) SET FOR AUGUST 27 RELEASE VIA ASTRALWERKS

Listen To Cyn’s Cover Of Sixpence None The Richer’s Kiss Me HERE

Film Released Globally On Netflix On August 27

Astralwerks will release He’s All That (Music From The Netflix Film) on August 27, the day of the film’s global release on Netflix. The 16-track compilation features Cyn’s cover of Sixpence None the Richer’s global hit Kiss Me, which is heard in the trailer. Check out Cyn’s sparkling version of Kiss Me HERE. View the trailer, which debuted on TikTok earlier today, HERE.

In this remake of the 1999 teen classic She’s All That, an influencer specializing in makeovers bets she can transform an unpopular classmate into prom king. Sixpence None the Richer’s original version of Kiss Me was heard in She’s All That. The song received a GRAMMY nomination and placed in the top 10 of the Billboard 100 for the year.

Of course, there are many songs that have influenced my career, but of all the songs in the universe, ‘Kiss Me’ has to be one of my absolute favorites, says Cyn. I have many fond memories of discovering my voice to ‘Kiss Me’ while riding in the backseat of my mom’s car. When I was approached with the opportunity to sing this song, I was ecstatic and so grateful. I am thrilled with how it turned out and can’t wait to see it in He’s All That.

Cyn released her debut EP, Mood Swings, in 2019 via Katy Perry’s Unsub Records. Her songs have been widely licensed, including placements in soundtracks for Netflix’s To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You and the Oscar-winning film Promising Young Woman.

He’s All That (Music From The Netflix Film) also includes new songs from Blu de Tiger (Go Bad), Valentino Khan ft. ALMA (Stop Talkin’) and Kaz Gamble and Doug Ray (Mean Streets of Pali).

Carried Away, the sweeping hit ballad from Surf Mesa with Madison Beer, features prominently in the film. Both the original song and the Tchami remix of Carried Away are found on the soundtrack along with recent hits from Katy Perry, Topic, Bebe Rexha, ATB, A7S, Fisher, Troye Sivan, Kacey Musgraves, Mark Ronson, Emilee, Tesher, TCTS, Glowie and WizTheMC. See below for track listing. Fans who pre-order/pre-save He’s All That (Music From The Netflix Film) HERE will instantly receive Kiss Me plus Kiss Me (Remix).

In this reimagining of 1999’s She’s All That, Padgett (TikTok star Addison Rae) has mastered her perfect high school life: She’s a popular beauty influencer with a huge following, and her hot pop star boyfriend makes her the envy of everyone on her feed. But after she catches him cheating while livestreaming, she goes viral for all the wrong reasons. To repair her reputation, Padgett makes a risky bet that she can turn her scruffy anti-social classmate Cameron (Cobra Kai’s Tanner Buchanan) into prom king material. Things get complicated when she finds herself falling for him IRL, and learning no one is quite who they seem on social media, least of all herself.

2022 Interstate Music Award Nominations

Nominations For 2022 Interstate Music Awards Now Open

U.S. solo artists, garage bands, songwriters, and musicians can submit a music performance in six award categories thru Nov. 30, 2021. Educators and small music venues can be nominated for a recognition award.

Interstate Music announced today that nominations for the annual Interstate Music Awards (IMA) are now being accepted. In its second year, the online event features up-and-coming musicians, singers, songwriters, and artists from around the country.

The IMAs are way more than just selecting the best. These music awards are about giving everyday artists and industry influencers a chance to showcase their talent, inspire others, and prove that anything is possible, said Jeff Peterson, CEO at Interstate Music. We are ready to help these musicians, educators, and venues get noticed. Could it be you?

All genres, artists, musical talents, and influencers such as educators and small U.S. music venues are encouraged to submit nominations at Interstate Music Awards’ website now thru Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021. Public voting will begin on Jan. 3, 2022, and end on Jan. 31, 2022. Online votes will then be tallied to choose the top contender in each category.

Nominees can self-submit in one or more of the six categories and be considered for multiple Interstate Music Awards.

Best Cover Song, Best Original Song, Best Band or Group, Best Male Artist, Best Female Artist, Artist of the Year

New this year is the inclusion of two recognition award categories to support music educators and music venues, Music Educator of the Year and Best Small Music Venue

Educators should be nominated for their impact on students, the industry, or through music innovation. In addition, nominations to honor small U.S. music venues that have positively shaped the music community, entertainment, and support music artists will also be welcomed.

2021 awardees included Card Reader (Long Island, New York), The Stephen Hull Experience (Racine, Wisconsin), and Billie Jo (Grand Saline, Texas).

Winning the IMAs last year was a massive accomplishment for Card Reader. The experience has opened new doors and puts our goals as musicians within reach – two things we don’t take for granted, said Card Reader band leader Tom Petito. We are ready to be on the road, playing at festivals and concerts, and living out our dreams. When that happens, we’ll be proud to say it all started when we entered the Interstate Music Awards.

The 2022 Interstate Music Award Show is scheduled for Thursday, March 3, 2022, and will be live-streamed at their website. The event will include live performances by music influencers and interviews with nominees and awardees, with support from more than 20 sponsorship partners.

With only four songs on streaming platforms—all released in 2020—Fayetteville, North Carolina rapper Morray has already proven he’s a hitmaker. His debut single ‘Quicksand’ is undeniable, anchored by the type of hook you get from a Roddy Ricch or Rod Wave song and infused with storytelling and charisma to paint a picture even if you’re unfamiliar with the newcomer. – Pigeons & Planes

Fresh Off His First-Ever Performance at Rolling Loud, the 2021 XXL Freshman Recruits a Kindred Spirit to Add a Verse to a Street Sermons Highlight

Morray’s emotional singing and empathetic lyrics make him an ideal avatar for those struggling in the streets, and an excellent role model for those looking to make it out. His song Trenches is an ode to people who think they are out of options, urging them to stay positive through the pain. Today, the Fayetteville, NC native shares Trenches (Remix), which adds a verse from Polo G, another street storyteller whose lyrics speak for the less fortunate. The new remix juxtaposes Morray’s gospel-influenced passion with Polo’s plaintive and conversational melodies, the younger rapper spinning a succinct 16 about his rise from tragedy to triumph: Member I was f*cked up, now my foreign in the hood parked/You can beat the system if you street and booksmart, intones Polo G.

Directed by Justice Silvera, the video follows the story of a man who works hard every day to put food on his family’s plates, resisting the clarion call of street life so he can be present for his wife and young daughter. Morray and Polo G provide the perspective of those who’ve escaped their past hardship, but their lyrics prove that men like the video’s protagonist deserve just as much respect as any rap star. Trenches (Remix) is the latest in a long line of quality videos from Morray, most recently the video for Mistakes, a highlight from his debut album Street Sermons.

Debuting at  #41 on the Billboard 200 and propelling Morray to #1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart, Street Sermons taps into the spiritual uplift and church-trained singing that makes Morray’s brand of hip-hop so unique, taking unflinching looks at the Fayetteville native’s youthful struggles and indiscretions and examining his motivations to succeed. Home to his breakout single Quicksand, which recently earned a GOLD certification from the RIAA and surpassed the 100 million view milestone on YouTube, the project contains universal truths about the tragedies and triumphs of growing up in the hood, filtered through Morray’s experience as a neighborhood kid made good. Complex ranked Street Sermons at #10 on their list of Best Albums of 2021 So Far.

Earlier this summer, Morray earned a position on the coveted XXL Freshman list for 2021. The honor is the latest in a long line of accolades, including one to watch designations from Complex, Billboard, SPIN, Pigeons & Planes, and many more. An engaging live performer, as evidenced by his recent appearance on JImmy Kimmel Live, Morray was highlighted by Rolling Stone as the Best Debut performer at last weekend’s Rolling Loud Festival in Miami.

With Street Sermons and his newfound position as a XXL Freshman, Morray culminates his meteoric rise and proves that he’s ready to build an artistic legacy and a nest egg for his wife and kids. For an artist with Morray’s talent, the sky’s the limit.
