Her life revolves around acting as interpreter for her parents (Marlee Matlin, Troy Kotsur) and working on the family’s struggling fishing boat every day before school with her father and older brother (Daniel Durant). But when Ruby joins her high school’s choir club, she discovers a gift for singing and soon finds herself drawn to her duet partner Miles (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo). Encouraged by her enthusiastic, tough-love choirmaster (Eugenio Derbez) to apply to a prestigious music school, Ruby finds herself torn between the obligations she feels to her family and the pursuit of her own dreams.

Oompa – LEBRON

Oompa Slam Dunks On the Naysayers in New Track LEBRON

Listen to the premiere via AudioFemme HERE

WATCH LEBRON HERE

One of Boston’s most successful rappers – NPR

Oompa has emerged from her apocalyptic meditation looking ‘fly as hell but highly dangerous’ – Vanyaland

Oompa’s doing something big – Out Front Magazine

Visionary – Performer Mag

Acclaimed Boston rapper Oompa has released her hard-hitting new single and video LEBRON on all streaming platforms. Stream the single HERE.

LEBRON is a powerful track about doing what one wants, while others do what they can. With a nod to legendary basketballer LeBron James, Oompa plays with linguistics by repurposing the word into a verb in honor of James’ resilience despite the odds. ‘LEBRON’ is about feelin’ yourself, defying the naysayers, and the battles no one knows about. Wielding her signature low and breathy rapping style over the hardest beat since she’s dropped since Cleo N Nem, Oompa channels old-school hip-hop sentiment, seamlessly riding the beat and changing up her flow in a style akin to Kendrick Lamar or Vince Staples. LEBRON embodies Oompa’s statement-making approach to lyricism, rooted in early beginnings as a spoken word poet.

To me, it’s not about the everyday victory; it’s the commitment to the long haul. To the joy of giving your craft everything you have for as long as you can. It is finding victory in going above your own limitations so that you can get what you want. That’s what I mean when I say, I Lebron, shares Oompa.

Part of a series of ten thematic visuals shared from her forthcoming album UNBOTHERED, LEBRON taps into a similar aesthetic and playful vibe as seen in her most recent release GO, including the return of her oh-so-cool retro Ford Mustang. In the video, we find Oompa and crew tearing it up on the basketball court, with Oompa naturally slaying the game, (in a Celtics jersey, of course) whilst her confused opponents look on. With an unmistakable sense of swagger, Oompa leaves her mark as the GOAT, before hitting the gas on the Mustang, love interest in tow, continuing on their carefree adventure.

Whether or not you’re on the court, in the court, or just trying to get out of bed when life is hard, this is an anthem for beating your personal best each time you do anything, and bragging to your SELF on your SELF when you do.

LEBRON is the second single from forthcoming album UNBOTHERED and follows the release of GO (ft. Dan DeCristofaro) which garnered attention from Def Jam’s Here Comes The Break, Vanyaland, and The Hype Magazine. Since arriving on the music scene in 2016, Oompa’s poetic prowess has seen her winning the 2017 Women of the World Poetry Slam, as well as sharing stages with the likes of Charli XCX, 24KGoldn, Tinashe, UMI, and Rico Nasty. With her penchant for making a positive impact on the world and undeniable skills as a rapper, Oompa is an artist that should be on every rap fan’s radar.

Stay tuned for more from Oompa very soon.

About OOMPA

OOMPA is a nationally acclaimed, Boston-born, poet, rapper, and educator, who is forever representing the queer, black, orphaned, hood kids n’ them. She was named one of NPR’s 2020 Slingshot Artists to Watch and her engaging, interactive performing style won her the Boston Music Award for Live Act of the Year in 2019, following her 2018 Unsigned Artist of the Year victory among an unprecedented 12 total nominations. In a 2019 feature, WBUR’s the Artery describes the lyric-focused rapper as having a natural tenderness with language and calls her verses funny…incisive and memorable. Oompa showed this poetic prowess as the winner of the 2017 Women of the World Poetry Slam and a finalist in the 2016 National Poetry Slam. With the release of her newest album, Cleo, Oompa has sold out the Sinclair and a number of other Boston venues.

In November 2020, Oompa dropped her most recent single entitled Closer along with a striking visual component. The song showcases a new sonic direction for her music and the lyrics convey a refusal to falter or be reactionary in the face of multiple global crises; the pandemic and an intense awakening about what it means to be Black in the world. This song isn’t a promise to be a cure to the world’s ills, but something that aims to counter the effects of the poison. Her next project, Unbothered is set to release in Fall 2021.

Billy Ray Cyrus × Firerose – New Day

BILLY RAY CYRUS AND FIREROSE PERFORM NEW DAY ON LIVE WITH KELLY AND RYAN

WATCH PERFORMANCE HERE

Lauded by Rolling Stone as a rippy, atmospheric ballad and American Songwriter as an uplifting anthem promising the dawning of a better age, Billy Ray Cyrus and FIREROSE performed their new hit, New Day, on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan today. Click HERE to watch and click HERE to watch their interview.

This Friday, August 13, Cyrus and FIREROSE will perform New Day on the Grand Ole Opry. The performance will be FIREROSE’s debut in the world-famous sacred Circle.

Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and so many more graced this iconic stage before me, so it’s a real honor to have the opportunity to stand in that Circle with Cyrus and perform the song we wrote together that means so much at this time, where we’re all praying for a New Day,’  FIREROSE shared.

Reviewers across genres are praising New Day:

Billy Ray Cyrus never met a collaboration he didn’t like. This time, he pairs up with Australian singer FIREROSE for this trippy, atmospheric ballad about revitalization and rebirth….lending more evidence that BRC is an ever-changing musical chameleon. – Rolling Stone / Joseph Hudak & Jon Freeman

The new song is an uplifting anthem promising the dawning of a better age… combines elements of indie pop and country, creating a unique sound of two very different performers. Billy Ray Cyrus…added his ever-special country flair. – American Songwriter / Audrey Gibbs

An intriguing collaboration. With a shimmering indie pop sound, crisp beats and an uneasy vocal blend, the song is a pulsating slow jam — and its abstract video matches the vibe. Written by the country star and emerging artist over Zoom, the track features a distinctly conflicted energy, mixing light and dark at the start of a fresh cultural chapter. – Sounds Like Nashville / Lauren Laffer

It’s a hypnotic, swirling, dreamy confection, underpinned by echoey synths and slow, thumpy beats. I can hear this becoming a big pop hit. After all, he’s done it before. – Music Row / Robert K Oermann

FIREROSE’s vocals on ‘New Day’ are crystalline and crisp, and they blend well with Cyrus’ rich vocals. This collaboration is a match made in musical heaven. – Digital Journal / Markos Papadatos

Thrice – Robot Soft Exorcism

THRICE RELEASE NEW SINGLE ROBOT SOFT EXORCISM

LISTEN NOW

NEW ALBUM HORIZONS/EAST OUT SEPTEMBER 17 VIA EPITAPH RECORDS

PRE-ORDER NOW

California rock band Thrice have shared their newest single Robot Soft Exorcism off their upcoming album, Horizons/East. The song grows and lures listeners in with a unique robotic beat that almost seems to be breathing, creating a living rhythm. The track’s title may sound familiar to those who are aware of David Dark. The American author and teacher coined the term in a twitter thread, exploring a metaphor in an attempt to help us distinguish between harmful and destructive systems and those that inhabit and benefit from them. Thrice’s singer and lyricist Dustin Kensrue picks up the image and breathes life into it throughout the newly released track. Months back Kensrue and Dark spoke at length on the subject, as well as other topics, on Kensrue’s podcast. Fans can listen to Robot Soft Exorcism now at their website.

Horizons/East is available for pre-order now and will be released September 17 digitally and October 8 physically via Epitaph Records. The album exemplifies art as a work of recognition, the human task of perceiving oneself amid details, disasters, and blessings as a relentlessly relational phenomenon among others. In this, Horizons/East is the rare rock album on which interrelatedness is a theme, painting an adventurous and lush landscape mixed by Scott Evans that the band self-produced and recorded at their own New Grass Studio.

The album’s lead single, Scavengers and its accompanying music video are available to watch now. Over a dark and intricate braiding of guitar and drum grooves, the video transports viewers to a world of mystery and disguises that leaves viewers unsure of whom to trust and where to turn.

With the new album, the band addresses, with candor and courage, the fragile and awkward arrangements that pass for civilization, while inviting us to dwell more knowingly within our own lives. Without surrendering any of the energy and hard edge of their previous albums, they’ve given us a profoundly meditative work, which serves as a musical summons to everyday attentiveness.

Horizons/East conveys a palpable sense of danger, determination, and possibility.

Formed in 1998, the Orange County-based four-piece is widely regarded as one of the most innovative rock bands of their generation. Featuring frontman Dustin Kensrue, guitarist Teppei Teranishi, bassist Eddie Breckenridge, and drummer Riley Breckenridge.

Thrice will be touring this fall with special guests Touch, Amor, Jim Ward appearing at select dates only), and Self Defense Family. Tickets and tour information available here.

For updates on Thrice please visit Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Spotify.

About The Game

The Game is everywhere. From the streets of Compton to the top of the charts and the forefront of the culture, he’s the rare rapper who can collaborate with Ed Sheeran and Travis Barker, pop out on Kevin Hart’s Instagram, and appear in All Star Weekend directed by Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx all within the same news cycle. From breaking records, piling up billions of streams, setting social media on fire with every post, and holding down the place he calls home, it’s become nearly impossible to escape the influence of the two-time GRAMMY Award-nominated multiplatinum rapper, songwriter, producer, actor, and entrepreneur born Jayceon Terrell Taylor. At the same time, his rapping may very well be sharper than ever.

During 2019, The Game reached rarified air with Born 2 Rap, registering a career-high score of 82% on Metacritic. NME raved, Born 2 Rap isn’t just a library of classic records blended together; it’s a lesson in storytelling, and Forbes assured, Both he and his fans have something that they can be proud of for years to come. Thus far, he has earned a staggering eight #1 debuts on the Billboard Top Rap Albums Chart, eight #1 debuts on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, and three #1 debuts on the Billboard Top 200. His introductory opus, The Documentary, marked his first #1 on the Top 200, went double-platinum, and received two GRAMMY Award nominations.

In 2005, he put the West Coast on his back and never stopped running. Now, he sets the pace yet again on another music project, heralded by the sizzling single Worldwide Summer Vacation.

In the newly formed partnership, TyY is featured prominently in the brand’s campaign imagery as well as providing the soundtrack for the official campaign video with 100 Rounds. Watch HERE.

As a longtime fan of KSUBI and a regular at their Greene Street store in NYC, the partnership was a natural fit for A$AP TyY. Working alongside Ksubi Creative Director, Brad Triffitt, the campaign visual depicts TyY in a high-octane heist of the new Ksubi Gold line, where he flexes his passion and skill for quad biking as he flees the scene through the streets of Harlem and New York City. 100 Rounds provides the perfect backing soundtrack for this thrilling chase, given its gritty sound and rebellious energy. The release of 100 Rounds follows TyY’s return to music earlier this summer with his emotive track 1990. About A$AP TyY

A$AP TyY tells a different kind of Harlem story. His story has all of the hustling, heart, and triumph over adversity you might have come to expect from the borough, but thereߣs much more to it. He quietly grew into a diverse and dynamic presence just as proficient on an ATV as he is on the mic. In 2015, he fueled a pair of bangers O Well and Chamber Lock with the late A$AP Yams. Locking into a groove, he unleashed the 2016 Best Kept Secret mixtape followed by the 2018 Troubles of the World mixtape.
