Michael Vincent Waller × Valee × Lex Luger – 4Fit

COMPOSER MICHAEL VINCENT WALLER RELEASES NEW SINGLE: 4FIT FEATURING VALEE, CO-PRODUCED BY LEX LUGER

LISTEN HERE

A sui generis collaboration [MVW and Lex Luger] have unlocked a bridge between their two worlds – NYS Music

one of the more unique cuts…heard in awhile – Elevator

a unique blend of styles – HotNewHipHop

Contemporary composer Michael Vincent Waller (MVW) teams up with trap producer extraordinaire Lex Luger and Chicago’s Valee on 4Fit, a new song that blends minimalist classical compositions and ominous strings with the hypnotic hard-hitting textures of trap to create a fresh new sound. Chicago rapper Valee lends his signature laid-back vocals with luxurious raps about foreign cars and expensive fashion. 4Fit is the third single from upcoming Classic$ releasing this Fall.

MVW explains, My core intention on Classic$ is to get classical music into hip-hop without dissolving either. It’s about allowing the production and samples to breathe organically.

4Fit follows Classic$ second single Still Do described as one of the more unique cuts heard in awhile by Elevator while HotNewHipHop confirmed that it is a unique blend of styles. Still Do gained airplay on SiriusXM’s Shade 45 program The Drive and 4Fit was selected for the Play dat Back section of the show. Lead single from the project Survey Says is an energetic track that celebrates the pride and joy of unity and self-love featuring vocals from Shanique Marie of Jamaican collective Equiknoxx. MVW was recruited by Shanique to produce, arrange and layer strings on her song Ballad from her latest album Gigi’s House. Wire Magazine said the stand-out track had hard beats with beautifully creamy arrangements and is a sublime highlight from the project.

LISTEN STILL DO

LISTEN SURVEY SAYS

Classic$ is the first hip-hop release from Michael Vincent Waller after three classical albums distributed by classical labels Unseen Worlds, Recital and XI Records. His 2019 album Moments was revered as absolutely sparkling (Exclaim!). Meanwhile Pitchfork raves that every note and gesture on ‘Moments’ seems to be deeply felt and philosophically weighed before a hand touches a piano key or lifts a mallet.

Michael’s music has filled venues including Carnegie Hall, ISSUE Project Room, Roulette, Palais de Tokyo Museum, and SXSW brought to life by soloists and ensembles a la R. Andrew Lee, Stephanie Ginsburg, Dante Boon, the S.E.M. Ensemble, and Ensemble Dedalus. He collaborates with musicians and producers across multiple genres including critically-acclaimed electronic musician Jlin. In 2020 he was named New Artist Of The Month by Musical America Worldwide.

About MVW

Michael Vincent Waller uncovers the nexus of classical music and hip-hop on Classic$ [AWAL], his 2021 debut EP as MVW. Like a string quartet beaming chamber music out of the trap, the project integrates elite beat-craft, bulletproof bars, and classical composition into an inimitable and irresistible hybrid.

We’re not simply trying to add orchestral heavy strings, explains MVW. Instead, we’re relying on dark and episodic chamberal moments, which fit naturally. I hope people are like, ‘I didn’t know classical music could be so funky. I can’t believe trap is so sensuous and beautiful.’

A composer from New York City, his classical music has been described as lyrical and introspective, drawing inspiration from impressionism, post-minimalism and world music. In 2015, he unveiled his debut album The South Shore on XI Records, the label founded by composer Phill Niblock. 2017’s Trajectories gained traction on streaming services as Lines eclipsed 348K Spotify streams. Two years later, Moments garnered widespread tastemaker praise from the likes of WIRE Magazine and Pitchfork. The albums have generated nearly 1 million total streams across his solo catalog.

On Classic$, he recruited multi-platinum producer Lex Luger [Waka Flocka Flame, Kanye West, Rick Ross]. Luger was drawn to Michael’s classical music and the two unlocked immediate creative chemistry. They’ve produced multiple songs for the project and have built a foundation for unparalleled innovation. I want to take the same attention to detail associated with classical and chamber music and apply it to one of the most viable, listenable, and casual genres, i.e. trap, explains MVW. It’s got freshness and energy, but there are a whole bunch of nuances and details you don’t typically hear in modern rap. I’m trying to take the best of both worlds.

In addition, the song has been added to some of the platform’s biggest playlists such as Pop Sauce and Summer Breakouts. Today, it debuted at #34 on Billboard’s Hot Rock/Alternative chart.

Listen to I Used To Care here

In a video that has recently gone viral, Louyah’s friends secretly plotted to have the song played on one of their local stations while they were driving around town one day. His sincere and genuine heartwarming reaction to his friend’s efforts helped the video amass almost 6 million views and put I Used To Care on the radars of listeners, helping it to jump hundreds of thousands of streams and adding 300,000 new followers to Louyah’s Instagram account.

While the video has brought mainstream attention, Louyah has been an up and coming artist for some time. Raised in south New Jersey, 25-year-old Louyah entered the music scene as a vocalist and guitarist of metal bands Premonition and Idle Minds. After six years as a band member, he pursued a solo career.

In 2020 he released his debut EP titled Smile For Me, followed by his EP titled, VIRGO, within the same year through independent record label, Loud Era Records. Rather than specifying on one genre, Louyah’s music incorporates an eclectic mix of sounds fusing pop, rock, rap, and R&B elements.

This Friday, July 23, Louyah will headline a SOLD-OUT show at House Of Independent’s in Asbury Park, NJ.

More new music from Louyah is coming very soon.

Hope Tala × Young Franco – Mad Remix

HOPE TALA DROPS YOUNG FRANCO REMIX OF LATEST SINGLE MAD, LISTEN HERE

West London-based genre hybrid Hope Tala teams up with Australian DJ and producer Young Franco for a remix of her latest single MAD—listen HERE.

MAD is Hope Tala’s first piece of new music since the release of her hotly-received 2020 EP, Girl Eats Sun. Produced by the multi-Grammy award winning Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence and the Machine), MAD was released last month alongside a stunning video directed by Millicent Hailes—listen HERE and watch HERE. The song sees Hope build on the bossa nova-inspired R&B that has cemented her as one of 2021’s artists to watch. It has received praise from HYPEBEAST, SPIN, Consequence, NME, Clash, Wonderland, DIY, Dork, FLOOD Magazine, TMRW Magazine, Ones To Watch, and more.

At this point in her career, Hope has already earned the endorsement of Barack Obama, fronted the Apple x Gay Times Elevate campaign, been spotlighted as a 2021 Vevo DSCVR Artist, and has had her music streamed over 30 million times, all while garnering acclaim from Billboard, Clash, Dork, GQ, MTV, Notion, Refinery29, The Line Of Best Fit, Vogue, Wonderland, and plenty more.

Music has surrounded Hope for as long as she can remember. Every Saturday growing up, she attended music school, learning the clarinet and performing in orchestras and wind bands. As part of an audio class, she learned Logic, and at 14-years-old, she taught herself guitar. Upon gaining proficiency with recording, she uploaded Peace Freestyle to Soundcloud in 2016. Following a post by Instagram creative platform Art Hoe Collective, Illegal Civilization founder Mikey Alfred discovered the track and spun it on Pharrell’s Apple Music Beats 1 radio show. This recognition made Hope realize she could pursue music as more than just a hobby. 2018 saw the release of her Starry Ache EP, and she released her Sensitive Soul EP a year later. Jealous, Anywhere, and D.T.M. each gained traction on DSPs, as Lovestained eclipsed 18.2 million streams. Rolling Stone placed the latter at #8 on its 50 Best Songs of 2019. Everything paved the way for Girl Eats Sun, released in 2020.

Arriving in 2021 as one of the UK’s brightest lights, Hope Tala looks set to establish herself as a vital new global artist with her upcoming body of work. Look out for more very soon.

Ski Mask The Slump God – Dr. Suess Video

SKI MASK THE SLUMP GOD DROPS NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR DR. SUESS

SIN CITY THE MIXTAPE OUT NOW

Coming out with a bang, critically acclaimed multiplatinum Florida spitter Ski Mask The Slump God drops the blockbuster music video for his new single Dr. Suess. It’s available on his tastemaker-approved, chart-busting 2021 project, Sin City The Mixtape [Victor Victor Worldwide/Republic Records]. Listen to Sin City The Mixtape—HERE.

Watch the Music Video for Dr. Suess HERE

The highly stylized cinematic clip nods directly to the 2005 big screen epic Sin City. In the visual directed by ROCK and EGG, Ski Mask The Slump God dons a suit with pure hitman swagger and exacts revenge on a list of enemies, crossing them out one at a time with each successive kill gorier than the last. It stands out as his biggest and boldest video to date.

Right out of the gate, Sin City The Mixtape bowed in the Top 40 of the Billboard Top 200. Plus, it vaulted into the Top 20 of the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, marking his second Top 20 debut on the respective chart. Not to mention, it soared to #3 on the Spotify Charts Top 10 USA Album Debuts.

Additionally, it garnered widespread acclaim. Pitchfork hailed him as a rapper’s rapper, with a dense chopper flow, and promised, If you look hard enough, you can hear his sincerity, struggle, and pain. HYPEBEAST celebrated the project as filled with the same kind of wild and menacing energy that Robert Rodriguez’s adaptation is comprised of, and HotNewHipHop raved, his familiar aggressive delivery is on full display. UPROXX urged, with such a tight concept and sharp execution, it’s not one to be overlooked, but XXL put it best, It’s comeback season for Ski Mask The Slump God

Sin City The Mixtape notably marks his first body of work since 2018’s chart-topping gold-certified Stokeley. Living up to its namesake, he rips through these nine tracks with all the frenetic energy, ominous unpredictability, and epic scope of the Robert Rodriguez adaptation of Frank Miller’s classic graphic novel Sin City. Once again, his verbal acrobatics steal the show as he perverts pop culture references into pummeling rhymes on the likes of the single Admit It where Reptilian and Alice In Wonderland breathe the same contaminated air. Intro pairs a cracking, yet intimate vocal over the hum of a defibrillator, while clean guitar bleeds into an X-Men-worthy barrage on Mental Magneto and the acoustic Lost In Time spins depression into melodic bliss.

Check out the full tracklisting below.

Last year, Ski Mask The Slump God dropped the protest-anthem Burn The Hoods. The politically charged banger amassed north of 70 million streams thus far. Picking up critical acclaim, NPR claimed it captured the defiant, cathartic energy of a crowd of people tearing down a statue of a Confederate general.

Allow Ski Mask The Slump God to welcome you to Sin City The Mixtape now.

Stay tuned for much more soon!

ABOUT SKI MASK THE SLUMP GOD

Since emerging from the darkest corners of South Florida back in 2015, Ski Mask The Slump God has consistently pushed the limits of hip-hop with his lyrical dexterity, rhythmic unpredictability, and elite wordplay. He asserts himself as a rare rap force who defies categories and eras with unapologetic attitude and boss-level skill. Following a string of buzzing mixtapes, he seized #6 on the Billboard Top 200 with his 2018 full-length debut, Stokeley [Victor Victor Worldwide/Republic Records], which received acclaim from Pitchfork, XXL, and NME. Along the way, he also logged five platinum singles, Catch Me Outside, Take A Step Back, Nuketown, Babywipe, and Foot Fungus, in addition to the double-platinum banger Faucet Failure. Simultaneously, he dropped multiple joint tracks with the late XXXTentacion and collaborated with the likes of Lil Yachty, Higher Brothers, Denzel Curry, J. Cole’s DreamVille, and many more. Meanwhile, he made a statement in 2020 with the incendiary banger Burn The Hoods, which garnered praise from Complex and more. After gathering 3 billion-plus streams, Ski Mask The Slump God adds another dimension to his dynamic, dark, and deep world with the 2021 Sin City The Mixtape.

Glass Animals Announce Dreamland Tour

GLASS ANIMALS DELIVER SUNRISE PERFORMANCE OF ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA

HEAT WAVES RECENTLY PEAKED IN TOP 20 ON BILLBOARD HOT 100 CHART

SET TO EMBARK ON NORTH AMERICAN DREAMLAND TOUR THIS FALL

WATCH PERFORMANCE HERE

WATCH INTERVIEW  HERE

Yesterday, Glass Animals unveiled a stunning performance of their Platinum-Certified global hit Heat Waves on Good Morning America—watch their performance HERE and interview HERE! The band’s signature high-energy performance was shot remotely at Brighton’s iconic British Airways i360 observation tower during sunrise. Frontman Dave Bayley also spoke more about the song and its meaning with Good Morning America Digital—watch HERE.

Glass Animals have had a career-defining year with Heat Waves and their 2020 album, Dreamland. Not only did Heat Waves recently peak in the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart over a year after its original release date, but the band also performed the song during their first-ever U.S. awards show performance at Billboard Music Awards, were selected as Billboard Music Awards finalists for Top Rock Song: Heat Waves and Top Rock Album: Dreamland, and performed the track on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Ellen, and more.

Next month, Glass Animals will kick off their nearly sold-out North American Dreamland Tour, which sold over 135,000 tickets in the first 3 days of its on-sale. The run kicks off August 30th in Lewiston, NY and takes the band across North America well into 2022. The shows add to their already sold-out fall UK tour dates, previously announced 2022 Red Rocks shows, and confirmed festival performances at Bonnaroo, Life Is Beautiful, Firefly Festival, Outside Lands, and more.

Dreamland, the band’s hugely popular third full-length album, entered UK charts on its opening week at #2 (their highest ever scoring chart position, a massive 21 spots above their last album, Mercury Prize-nominated How To Be A Human Being) and charted inside the top 10 in the US (#7 on Billboard Top 200 Chart), Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. The album clocked up 160 million streams in its first week of release. Over the past year, Heat Waves was crowned #1 on Triple J’s Hottest 100—an accolade not given to a UK band since 2009 with previous winners including Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish—receiving a sync placement on FIFA, then an organic Minecraft affiliation, whereby the YouTuber LoverFella (2.61M subscribers) rebuilt a Glass Animals fan’s base and surprised her with a meet and greet with the band who were waiting inside. Watch it HERE and the Extended BTS HERE. Earlier this year, Heat Waves peaked at #1 on the Alternative Radio Chart for 3 consecutive weeks and in the Top 15 on the Top 40 Radio Chart, a first for Glass Animals in their career. It also held the #1 spot on the ARIA Official Singles Chart in Australia for 6 consecutive weeks, marking the band’s first #1 single globally. Heat Waves has had over 800 million combined streams to date, peaked at over 2 million daily streams, and has received over 31 million views of the video on YouTube.

Valley – Tempo

VALLEY BUILD IT UP AND BREAK IT DOWN ON NEW SINGLE TEMPO, OUT TODAY Features Soaky Siren Who The Band Wrote The Song With

Performing At Wunderbus Festival, Bottlerock Festival And Joining Coin For 17-date North American Tour

LISTEN TO TEMPO HERE

JUNO nominated, alternative-pop band, Valley shift gears with their brand-new single, Tempo released today via Capitol Records. We often as Valley talk about our love for juxtaposition in songwriting. It’s played a huge role in our style and how we story tell with our music. Happy melody = sad lyric, the band explain, ‘Tempo’ is very much opposite to that process for Valley and particularly why we love it so much. Valley, comprised of Rob Laska, Karah James, Mickey Brandolino and Alex DiMauro, have spent the past two years developing organic buzz through a personal and intimate connection with their fans. Listen to Tempo HERE. Watch the official visualizer HERE.

Described by the band as an upbeat dance track but with the recognizable Valley flair, the fresh sound was created as part of a new collaboration, We wrote it with the lovely Soaky Siren (Nobody’s Love by Maroon 5) who we ended sampling all over the song, her voice has such a lush vintage yet modern feel to it. It really fills the space throughout ‘Tempo’ in a beautiful way, Valley reveals.

In sincere Valley fashion, the song meaning suggests embracing being in the present moment and the people you’re with, reveling in every detail of it. Valley illuminates, Life is short and moves quick. Taking a second to really experience things is so important these days. So lyrically, it’s about obsessing over a moment or someone in your life but in the sweetest and most pure of ways; from waking up with them in the morning to going out with them at night and existing together in the mundane, but it meaning the world to you. It’s wishing we could slow down time to experience each moment together more deeply. ‘Tempo’ is all about tension and release sonically.

Tempo follows two previously released tracks so far this year; Like 1999 and SOCIETY. The explosive, Like 1999 which genesis traces back to a viral TikTok post that drove the band to finish the track in under 48 hours, helped push their catalog to eclipse over 170 million streams while breaking borders, appearing on viral charts in the U.S., Philippines, Korea, Japan and more.

After an unprecedented year for live music, Valley is excited to reconnect with their fans to perform across North America. The band is gearing up to play Wunderbus Festival in Columbus, OH, and Bottlerock Festival in Napa Valley, CA, at the end of the summer and then join COIN on a 17-date North American tour this fall. See full list of tour dates below, tickets available on Valley’s website.

ABOUT VALLEY

Valley puts together alternative pop with the care, adventurousness and personal touch of a handmade burned CD. Cycling through moods like your favorite throwback Pinterest board, the Toronto quartet amplify sticky hooks through eloquent songcraft thatߣs cognizant of what came before, yet ready for the future. In 2016, Valley formed by accident when a local studio double booked them. During high school, Mickey and Karah played in one band, while Rob and Alex played in another. They introduced themselves with self-written, self-produced releases, including the EP This Room Is White (2016), the full-length debut MAYBE (2019) and their last EP sucks to see you doing better (2020). They joined Lennon Stella and The Band CAMINO on sold out tours across North America and even picked up a 2020 JUNO Award nomination in the category of Breakthrough Group of the Year.
