RHINESTONE RADIO – JEANNIE SEELY

GRAMMY® award winner and country music legend Jeannie Seely is the special guest star on this week’s episode of Apple Country Music’s Rhinestone Radio with Sam Stephens. Click HERE to tune in to the episode, which will be available to stream beginning Wednesday, July 27 at 6 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT.

On her new Apple Music Country show Rhinestone Radio, Stephens—a singer-songwriter, journalist, host, and teacher, to name just a few of her talents—traces contemporary country back to its glory days, when the Nashville sound ruled the charts and flashy, rhinestone-studded countrypolitan was beginning to take off.

Most recently, Seely won Song of the Year at the Arkansas Country Music Awards as the songwriter for “Yours,” recorded by duo Joe and Diane (Joe Wade Smith and Diane Berry). During the ceremony, the nearly 55-year Grand Ole Opry® member also performed “The End Of The World” with Joe and Diane in honor of Lifetime Achievement recipient Floyd Cramer who played on the Skeeter Davis hit.

LIMITED-EDITION MODEL NASA SUIT WATCH VIA G-SHOCK

G-SHOCK GOES TO SPACE

Today, Casio pays homage to NASA with the release of the G-SHOCK GWM5610NASA4 the third limited-edition timepiece in the series. The latest model, which celebrates space exploration, comes with advanced technical capabilities like Tough Solar Technology and Multi-Band 6 Atomic Timekeeping. Styled after the iconic orange suits worn by astronauts, the new model mirrors this famous aesthetic with an all-orange case and band, and an American flag adorning the black band loop.

The orange uniform, known casually as a “pumpkin suit,” is a full-pressure suit used by NASA astronauts during the ascent and entry portions of flights. Along with the eye-catching pop of color, the model also includes the NASA insignia on the lower band and an engraving of an astronaut on the case back. Additionally, the watch dial intertwines black, white, and blue colorways against a positive LCD, and the watch packaging is inspired by the metal launch pad bridge out to the orbiter.

The limited-edition timepiece also features several improved technical characteristics compared to the first two models. Among the new features is Multi-Band 6 Atomic Timekeeping, which provides radio-controlled time syncing, allowing the watch to automatically update the time without manual adjustments, based on the user’s home-city setting and Tough Solar power, allowing the watch to convert power from even the weakest light sources.

The GWM5610NASA4 retails for $170 and is currently sold out. Please visit select retailers and the G-SHOCK Soho store for more information on availability. For additional information about the G-SHOCK brand, visit HERE.

NIA SULTANA – CRISTAL

Brooklyn singer/songwriter, Nia Sultana, releases the cinematic video for her new single Cristal featuring Che Ecru. Watch it HERE via Interscope Records. Filmed with a grainy, vintage look and rich golden-hour colors, the visual reflects the track’s charming come-up story in delightful detail. “Cristal” is available now at all digital retainers.

These imagistic details are captured more or less literally in the video, directed by James Bahman, which begins with the singer/songwriter crossing paths with a handsome stranger at a convenience store. They share lingering looks before continuing on their separate ways. The spark, however, is undeniable.

The new video arrives after Proven,” a love-on-the-rocks track featuring Rick Ross, her joyous day-breaker “In the Morning,” and the mellow after-hours anthem Ambiance.” Sultana first turned the heads of alternative-R&B fans with 2019’s “Coconut Water,” a relaxing jam that earned praise from outlets like NPR and was featured on the much-loved Escape Tracks platform on YouTube.

The proud Brooklynite’s recent music expertly captures the many highs and lows young women face, offering some truth with every note. In the music video for “Cristal,” Sultana considers how far she’s come — and plots the next chapter in her journey to the top.

AIKON JOINS #TIDE

Maurice Lacroix continues to spread the word about its ground-breaking watch, the AIKON #tide, releasing a new variant created in conjunction with Thai artist and ML Crew member, Benzilla.

The recently launched AIKON #tide represents a new, responsible approach to luxury watchmaking. Made from ocean-bound upcycled plastic, it takes 17 bottles to make one watch, and its user-friendly packaging means 17 fewer bottles polluting the ocean. The AIKON #tide shares the same attributes as other members of the AIKON family: Swiss quality, precision timekeeping, urban styling, and high perceived value.

His work often juxtaposes swathes of concrete with his distinctive, playful use of color. He adores using numerous hues in his compositions which is quite surprising for a man who is color blind. However, he has overcome this potential obstacle through determination, culminating in his extraordinary success. Indeed, this inspiring story and success epitomize Maurice Lacroix’s mindset, #BeYourAikon.

Benzilla feels a personal connection with the AIKON #tide initiative. The watch brand, in conjunction with #tide, is collecting plastic bottles from the seas surrounding the various islands of Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

The new AIKON #tide Benzilla exploits the use of color to the max. Enlivened with a plethora of eye-popping shades, the 40mm model features a flat sapphire crystal, augmenting readability, and a quartz movement. The dial is adorned with the Thai artist’s 3-eyed character, ‘LOOOK,’ an alien who came from nowhere to live among us. The bezel and crown are dressed in black, while the case body is executed in a vibrant shade of orange. Finally, a funky light blue rubber strap completes the ensemble. Owners of the watch can modify its appearance courtesy of the Easy Strap Exchange system, swapping the strap for an alternative without needing tools.

Stéphane Waser, Managing Director of Maurice Lacroix, remarks, “It is an honor to work with Benzilla, a Thai national and a member of the ML Crew, and it is great to open a new Maurice Lacroix boutique in Bangkok. This is a further example of how we are forging links with this region. Indeed, as part of the AIKON #tide initiative, we are removing plastic waste from the seas surrounding Thailand and beyond, helping to make a difference to the world we all share.”

If you haven’t already purchased one of the incredible one-of-a-kind pieces in the collection, there’s still time to own a piece of social impact history before it sells out!

JOE FIXIT cover by Cully Hamner VIA 360 Magazine

THE RETURN OF JOE FIXIT

Known for his legendary and impactful run on INCREDIBLE HULK, superstar comics writer Peter David is proving his acclaimed work on the Hulk mythos is far from over! Having just finished an epic trilogy of limited series that told the grand saga of Hulk villain MAESTRO, David will now turn his attention to another iconic creation of his—JOE FIXIT! The fan-favorite Hulk persona that muscled his way through Las Vegas as a hedonistic bodyguard will star in his very own limited series set during David’s original time on the INCREDIBLE HULK. Joining David in this Sin City adventure will be artist Yildiray Cinar (The Marvels).

“When I created Joe Fixit decades ago, it was merely as a means to shake up the standard formula,” David explained. “Typically Bruce would have set up some sort of situation and he would be worried that the Hulk would inevitably show up and screw things up. The storyline with Joe flipped the formula on its head and set up the Hulk with his great situation in Vegas and he was worried that Bruce would show up to screw things up. I had no idea that the character would have this much-staying power, and that so much would eventually be done with him in the pages of the IMMORTAL HULK. I’m thrilled that Marvel has given me this opportunity to revisit with an old friend.”
