MIAMI’S ECO-ADVENTURE PARK AND RESORT

ESJ CAPITAL PARTNERS TO DEVELOP SOUTH FLORIDA’S FIRST-EVER TRUE ECO-ADVENTURE PARK AND RESORT IN MIAMI

Opening in 2022, the $300 million re-imagined “Jungle Island” will feature a thrilling aerial adventure course with zip lines, up-close animal encounters, water attractions, one-of-a-kind entertainment and nightlife, and a new hotel, just minutes from downtown Miami and Miami Beach.

ESJ Capital Partners (hereinafter: ‘ESJ”), an Aventura, Florida-based commercial real estate firm and a registered Investment Advisor, has secured the final approvals necessary to move forward with developing a one-of-a-kind eco-adventure destination and hotel on 18.5 acres of prime waterfront in Miami.

The $300 million project is an ambitious re-imagining of the historic “Jungle Island,” a zoological theme park and botanical gardens built in 1936 that once boasted the largest and rarest collection of exotic animals and birds. It is located on Watson Island, roughly five minutes from both downtown Miami and the world-renowned South Beach neighborhood of Miami Beach, surrounded by the crystal blue waters of Biscayne Bay.

Inspired by some of the world’s most successful eco-adventure destinations and conceived by a team of the top hospitality/nature attraction experts, ESJ’s master-plan for redevelopment of the park caters to the 21st-century guest, while still preserving historic elements that has made the Jungle Island experience a favorite landmark for nearly a century – including an unparalleled collection of over 50 parrot species in its multi-story aviary.

Set to re-open in mid-2022 as “Jungle Island: Miami’s Adventure Oasis,” the redesigned park will include the only aerial adventure course in South Florida featuring zip lines, ropes courses, bridges, and climbing nets suspended up to 60-feet in the treetops; a 19,000-square-foot trampoline park; interactive and hands-on animal nature tours that allow guests to get up-close and personal with over 100 species of wild animals, such as swimming with capybaras; a 1,200-seat outdoor amphitheater with new and unique, family- friendly entertainment featuring aerialists and acrobats; elevated dining and nightlife experiences; a Mediterranean-style beach club and cocktail lounge on Miami’s only private beach; and several water features including a new 900-foot “lazy river”  that meanders through the park’s lush green and animal habitats.

A key component of the park will be a new 300-key, family-friendly eco-resort, scheduled to open in late 2024 or early 2025.

Based on market research, ESJ expects to draw more than 500,000 guests during its first year of operation, comprising a 50-50 mix of both local/domestic visitors and out-of-market travelers.

“Florida is finally getting its first true eco-adventure park, where nature and wildlife provide inspiration for guests to explore, play, challenge themselves physically, or simply relax,” said Arnaud Sitbon, CEO of ESJ. “Best of all, it’s going to be in a city that is one of the world’s top-rated travel destinations, just minutes from Miami’s top-rated beaches and attractions. It’s a privilege to have the honor of breathing new life into this much-beloved landmark, and our hope is that it will spark appreciation and respect for nature and our planet’s precious wildlife.”

“A nature-oriented destination of this magnitude in the heart of Miami’s urban core is truly remarkable,” said Micha Dubernard, Senior Vice President of ESJ Capital Partners. “In addition to providing a unique attraction that enhances Miami’s reputation for tourism and culture, Jungle Island’s lush habitat will also serve an important ecological role by helping absorb some of the city’s carbon emissions and serving as a natural preserve for Florida’s wading birds and other wildlife.”

According to the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), there is substantial demand for this type of venue.  “We are extremely pleased to add such a compelling attraction to our community,” said William D. Talbert III, President & CEO of the GMCVB.  “We look forward to continue working with the Jungle Island team.”

In 2019, Greater Miami attracted a record-breaking 16.3 million overnight visitors and an additional 7.9 million day tripper, for a record number of 24.2 million total visitors with a total economic impact close to $18 billion, according to the GMCVB. Industry experts expect Miami’s hospitality and tourism industry to recover steadily over the next year, in conjunction with COVID-19 vaccine roll outs.

In addition to the adventure park and nature attractions, Jungle Island will also feature a strong corporate appeal, with more than 10 indoor and outdoor meeting and event spaces, catering to small or large groups, and ranging from small celebrations to 1000+-person gatherings.

ESJ acquired Jungle Island in April 2017, which involved the transfer of the existing land lease on the City of Miami-owned Watson Island to ESJ.  In August 2018, Miami voters approved a city charter amendment to waive competitive bidding and allow ESJ to modify Jungle Island’s lease and allow the construction of a 300-room hotel. In February 2021, the City of Miami provided final approval on a long-awaited land-use ordinance change and special area plan, both necessary to redevelop the 18-acre property with a hotel and additional recreation amenities. ESJ plans to begin construction on the new adventure park this summer, and will break ground on the new $100+ million hotel in 2022, pending a final building permit.

To lead Jungle Island’s transformation, ESJ has pulled in some of the world’s leading hospitality, attraction, entertainment and construction experts. These include IDEAS Brand & Experience Design, led by 25-year Disney executive Bob Allen; HKS Architects, an interdisciplinary global design firm which recently completed Royal Caribbean’s $250 million redevelopment of CocoCay Island; EoAan award-winning design firm; Gardiner & Theobald, an independent construction and property consultancy noted for its development of Miami’s acclaimed Faena District and the $4 billion Baha Mar resort in the Bahamas, the largest resort development in the Western Hemisphere; and several additional specialists in the field of animal entertainment and education.

ROLLS-ROYCE BEVERLY HILLS NAMED DEALER OF THE YEAR

Growing the Rolls-Royce family and finding new homes for previously owned Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

Every year Rolls-Royce Motor Cars North America highlights the achievement of a single dealer that exemplifies its ability to deliver on the brand’s promise of the world’s most admired luxury brand even for clients acquiring a previously owned Rolls-Royce Motor Car. For 2020, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Beverly Hills has been recognized as the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars 2020 Global Provenance Dealer of the Year. This award recognizes the accomplishments of the entire operation in Beverly Hills in ensuring the experience that every Rolls-Royce Provenance client deserves and expects.

To qualify as a Provenance Rolls-Royce motor car, each car must have been maintained in strict adherence to Rolls‑Royce servicing standards. Each car receives a rigorous inspection and can only be obtained through an authorized Rolls-Royce motor car dealer. Second owners appreciate the reliability, the timeless appeal and instant availability of a ‘Rolls-Royce Provenance’ motor car.

Despite the hurdles presented to us by 2020, I am proud that my Rolls-Royce team has earned this award. Taking care of some of the most demanding and discerning clients in the world wasn’t easy managing a virtual relationship, but my team adapted new skills and processes to ensure acquiring a previously owned Rolls-Royce was just as much a luxury experience as acquiring and owning a new one.” said Tom O’Gara, CEO of O’Gara Coach.

With more than a century of history for the brand, and with more than three of every four Rolls-Royce/Viator cars ever built still being on the road, Provenance is critical to the brand. The Beverly Hills team understands that finding that second home for a Rolls-Royce commission is important to maintaining and growing the brand. We started 2021 with the strongest quarter of new commission deliveries, we have also seen the highest level of Provenance deliveries during the same period,” said Martin Fritsches, President and CEO of Rolls-Royce/Viator Americas.

The Rolls-Royce Motor Cars 2020 Global Provenance Dealer of the Year award is one that is earned, by highlighting specific achievements to one single dealership. It also reinforces the appeal of the high end, pre-owned car business to customers and showcases the dealerships’ ability to adapt to a more virtual sales relationship with all buyers. The Provenance previously owned program underpins the confidence in the quality of Goodwood manufactured, previously owned ‘Provenance’ Rolls-Royces.

When buying from a Rolls-Royce Provenance motor car dealership, customers are protecting their investment. Provence makes sure cars have been maintained to strict Rolls‑Royce servicing requirements, to be considered and are only sold through authorized Rolls-Royce motor car dealers. This includes offering its customers and clients around the world with guarantee of obtaining an independent vehicle history and mileage verification, as well as a protection plan that provides 24-hour roadside assistance, servicing, and warranty for an additional two-years. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars of Beverly Hills has become the hub of ‘previously owned’ cars and a place where customers feel enough trust to purchase these luxury vehicles.

On Friday, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ dealership in Beverly Hills hosted an event for their acceptance of the prestigious Rolls-Royce Provenance Dealer of the Year Award. The event showed off four models of Rolls-Royce vehicles, including the newest Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Phantom. All of the vehicles were buffed and shined to pearly perfection, showcasing the grandeur of their design. Upon first opening the doors of a Rolls-Royce, the weighty feeling of the door foretells of the magnificent details inside. The large sunroof and impressive grille of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan were only some of the super SUV’s astonishing features. In the Phantom, the Bespoke starlight headliner created the illusion of the night sky as appearing inside the vehicle. We were wowed by the lavishness of the Rolls-Royce vehicles, which all promise to be the stars of every street they venture down. The attentive staff of Rolls-Royce Beverly Hills glad shared their immense knowledge of the vehicles and beamed with pride at the success of their dealership.

Upon accepting the award with dignity and integrity, the RRMC Beverly Hills staff toasted with Don Perignon vintage champagne. The award was a silver trophy in the shape of The Spirit of Ecstasy, the classic Rolls-Royce bonnet ornament sculpture.

360 Magazine was particularly impressed with the bespoke headliner in the Phantom, which sparkled with opulence, even in daylight. Further, the elegance with which the distinguished award was accepted by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Beverly Hills was admirable. The comradery between the staff was palpable, as they all signed celebratory champagne bottles and cheered. The Rolls-Royce dealership staff was very welcoming, and they delighted in reveling about their well-deserved success. From here, Rolls-Royce can only look to continue their esteemed legacy of creating luxurious and celebrated vehicles.

Cool Running Gear You Can’t Ignore

If you are starting to discover the joy of running, you can enhance your experience by wearing cool running gear. Not only will you look the part and feel more confident while you run, but also you will ensure you have the right gear to maximize your performance.

Running Tops

If you wear a normal cotton top for running, it will rapidly absorb sweat or rain, so it is a much better idea to go with a short-sleeved or long-sleeved top that has been specifically designed for running. Mid-range to top-range running tops wick away sweat to keep you cool. They also allow for greater air circulation. A good running top needs to be reasonably fitted, but not too tight. Make sure that your top regulates temperature according to your body’s needs.

Interval Timers and Apps

Interval training can help runners see faster results, so there is no wonder why it has become particularly popular. As the name suggests, interval training involves high intensity workouts interspersed with periods of relief.

It can be challenging to keep track of when it is time between intervals of relief and running. However, that problem can easily be solved by using interval timers and apps. Interval timers are small devices that you wear. They are lightweight, so you do not have to worry about motion interference. Alternatively, you may prefer to use a timer app that can be accessed via mobile device. Such devices can be useful to keep track of time while you run.

Running Shorts

Running shorts are available in a wide variety of colors, styles, and brands, so choose a cool pair of shorts to make you feel confident while you run. Look at the practicalities of the shorts as well as their fashion statement. Running shorts should be comfortable and lightweight. They should also have the ability to wick away sweat. The shorts should not cut off circulation around your waist nor be too loose.

Running Gloves

Running gloves not only make you look trendy, but also serve a practical purpose too. When you run, blood is diverted from your fingers and hands to the working muscles in your legs. This means that your hands can become very cold when you run. Running gloves keep your hands and fingers at an optimum temperature during cold periods. The gloves should be lightweight and comfortable. The best gloves  are waterproof and have wind-stopping capabilities.

Running Jackets

When the weather is very wet or cold, you need to think about more than just your hands. It is advisable to buy a long-sleeved waterproof jacket that has wind-stopping and rain-resistance capabilities. There are plenty of funky-looking running jackets available, but you need to consider more than just fashion. Choose a running jacket that not only keeps you warm and dry, but also has a high-visibility pattern to keep you safe when running in the dark.

The Black List is an annual survey of the “most-liked” motion picture screenplays not yet produced. The Black List comes out in December and has been released since 2005, by Franklin Leonard, a development executive who subsequently worked at Universal Pictures and Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment.

Jeff Chen spoke about this acting career:

How has your family inspired you and your acting?

My family actually discouraged me from pursuing acting. They are the typical Chinese parents, which means they want me to be a doctor, lawyer or an engineer. But since I was a kid, I loved entertaining them and make them laugh. The idea of being seen and heard inspired me to pursue this career.

Where do you see your career going in five years?

I want to have more on-screen presence in general. I want to do more films and explore roles that I haven’t gotten to play before. Also, I have always wanted to do a fun show that requires extremely good chemistry, like Friends or Modern Family. Doesn’t every actor want that though?

[Can you] talk about any directors you have worked with?

I had the honor to work with Andrew Thomas Huang. He is known for his iconic visual style. Working with him on set is an eye-opening experience. He has a clear picture in his head and he communicates with me with trust. I enjoy[ed] every minute of working with him.

Where do you get your ideas for character development?

Art imitates life. Observing people in real life just gives me so many resources to work with. I like observing people: watching how they walk, how they behave, how they talk. I also like to play with my imagination. I like to read the scripts and have the word stimulate my imagination. There are no rules of how to approach something. Usually, my instincts tell me what to do and I follow them.

What charities are you aligned with, and why?

Years ago I worked for an NGO called Saving Promise. We helped raise awareness for Domestic Violence. I also donate to Doctors without Borders through my Amazon purchases. It’s not much, but every bit counts.

What acting projects will you be involved with in the future?

I just finished working on a short film that’s adapted from a Black List script. I am also talking to Andrew for a possible collaboration on a feature film in the future.

Who are your biggest influences?

So many people have influenced me and it’s impossible to just pick out one. Great movies are the reason that I want to pursue an on-screen career. I admire directors such as Pedro Almodovar, Quentin Tarantino, Ridley Scott, Wong Kai Wei, Ang Lee, etc. I look up to their work so much.

What advice would you give to a young actor starting out?

Listen and learn from all the teachers, and challenge what you’ve learned. You have to figure out what works for you and what doesn’t. Most importantly, dare to fail.

Talk about your acting training–who have you trained with and why?

I am currently training under Margie Haber and Chris Holder at Ivana Chubbuck’s studio. Margie teaches me to use my imagination, and Chris teaches me to draw inspiration from my personal life.

How do you take care of yourself? [What’s] your health regime?

Well I try to exercise as much as possible. I need physical activities to calm my mind.

If you could collaborate with another actor, who would it be?

Anya Taylor-Joy. I am a huge fan of Queen’s Gambit and her performance is hard to forget. I also love her work in the VVITCH and Split. Timothee Chalamet is another actor that I really want to work with.

What shows are on your DVR right now, and why?

I am finishing up Six Feet Under. The Sopranos and Handmaid’s Tale are also on my list.

Who are your favorite actors right now and why?

Well, there are just too many. Olivia Colman, Anthony Hopkins, Meryl Streep, Al Pacino…All these great actors just inspire me to be better. I love actors.

When did you know you wanted to be an actor?

About when I was one years old, I knew I wanted to be an actor. I just loved to watch movies and I knew this is what I wanted to do.

What actor/actress did you admire as a child?

I didn’t really admire any actors or actresses when I was a kid but I did want to be friends with Emma Watson and the entire Harry Potter gang. I was such a fan of Harry Potter.

What types of characters would you like to play in the future?

I want to play a really bad, sexy villain. That could be really fun. I also want to play a young artist, a poet, a loner, rebel without cause. These are characters I would love to dive into.

What’s your fashion style?

I honestly don’t know what my fashion style is. I do care about what I wear, but I don’t know how to label it. I know what vibes or feelings I want to give out, and I dress accordingly.

What do you do to relax?

I do yoga and rock climb. I also love hanging out with my friends.

What other businesses do you plan on starting to promote your brand?

Right now I am just focusing on my acting.

What’s the one thing you think everyone could do to make the world a more positive place?

Put yourself in others’ shoes more.

What would you be doing if you were not acting?

I think I would go to law school and be a lawyer. Or go back home to help my mom with her business.

What was your first memory of seeing great acting?

I remember watching “Cold Mountain” and “A Streetcar Named Desire” in high school. Renee Zellweger brought me into tears and Mr. Brando presented so much power through his performance.

What’s your favorite film, and why?

It’s impossible for me to pick one favorite film. Right off my head I can think of Chungking Express, Little Miss Sunshine, Brokeback Mountain, Toni Erdmann, Kill Bill, Amelie.

What are your first steps in taking on a new role?

I put on my detective’s glasses and look for all the information I could possibly find to help me live truthfully as the character. I want to know everything about them: social class, where did they grow up, what’s their physicality, etc.

What do you want to leave as your legacy?

Hopefully 50 years after I left this world, somebody will still watch my movies and go “hmm, I really believe him.”

Talk about your last 3 acting projects.

I just finished shooting for a short film called “The Plum Town”. It’s a heartfelt story about reconciliation between a father and a son after years without seeing each other. It’s adapted from the feature film script that was on the Black List.

Kiss of the Rabbit God” is a short film about a Chinese restaurant worker who falls in love with an ancient Chinese god. This god leads our hero on a journey of sexual awakening. The god is called Tu’er Shen (Rabbit God) who is an actual god from Chinese mythology who blesses and protects gay people.

“Shanghai Sole” is a story about an American businessman who has to overcome culture, self-doubt and a toilet to close the deal of his life in Shanghai.

How do you overcome challenges in your career?

Certainly there have been difficult times on this journey. At the end of the day, the love and passion for cinema just moves you forward. So you pick yourself up, dust off your shoulders, and move on.

Is there anything in your career that you wish you could do again?

I don’t really have any regrets. I do wish I could of come to LA earlier and had started this experience earlier.

What are your hobbies?

I like bouldering, hiking, and working out. I also love traveling. Karaoke is a big part of my life.

Fondest memory as a child with your family?

My mom is a strong businesswoman who has been busy with her business for the past 15 years. I don’t really get to spend a lot of time with her. When I was about 10 years old, she actually planned a one-day vacation for our family. We went to this amusement park for a day. I still smile every time I think about that trip.

Green Car by Mina Tocalini for 360 Magazine

Easy Ways to Keep Your Car Perfectly Maintained

So you finally bought a new car–or at least, new to you–and you want to keep it running and looking as new as can be. Here are some long-term car maintenance tips that you can use to ensure that.

Be Careful While Driving

Nothing will ruin your car faster than getting into an accident. By getting into the habit of checking your mirrors before you get on the road and making sure all of the turn signals are working, you can see and be seen while maneuvering through traffic.

Fluids Matter

Just like your body, your car needs to have all of the right fluids at the proper levels. Make sure to check the oil at the recommended intervals, as well as check other fluids such as transmission and coolant. When the fluid levels are all properly monitored, the engine operates under much less stress than it would otherwise.

Wash and Wax

While you may not think of washing and waxing your car as a form of maintenance, it really is. By washing your car on a regular basis. as well as waxing it, you can do more than just give a nice shine to the vehicle. You are removing dirt and grime that can damage the exterior of the car. In certain areas of the country, your car may even be subject to road salt that can eat away at your car and destroy the undercarriage. If you are unsure of the proper washing and waxing techniques, you can check out a guide that provides pro tips on how to get the job done.

Watch Your Tires

Driving on balding tires can prove to be extremely dangerous. When the tires have a lack of traction, they can easily spin out of control. If the tires are too worn, they may actually blow out while you are driving. To maintain the tread of the vehicle, always make sure the tires are inflated to the recommended pressure level.

Don’t Ignore the Signs

All cars have warning lights that indicate there is a problem with the vehicle. It is never a good idea to ignore these. As soon as possible after a warning light comes on, take the vehicle into a mechanic or an auto parts store and have them figure out the issue is–otherwise it could lead to a more severe long-term issue.

You Get What You Pay For

While you should avoid shops that overcharge, you should also avoid mechanics that are always trying to give cheap repairs or use improper techniques. Find a mechanic who stands behind their work, but who also uses quality parts to get the job done. Failure to do so may result in vehicle degradation, accidents, and even void the warranty that naturally comes with newer cars. You’ll be glad you went with quality over price.

Instead of reading about history in a textbook, experience making history in-person alongside your favorite politicos.

Besides the museum’s seven interactive zones, there are also two riveting experiences: the Marvel 4D Film, and the Coney Island Carnival Carnage 7D Game.

With Marvel’s 4D experience, guests can feel a part of the movie with 3D film technologies including experiential sensory effects. Viewers are put in the middle of the action when viewing this incredible 4D film. Feel the wind and water, and even smells the same scents at the same time as your favorite heroes in the movie.

Guests are invited to face their greatest nightmares in the Coney Island Carnival Carnage Game. This 7D, multi-sensory experience invites guests to shoot lasers at enemies, ride carnival attractions, and spin the Wheel of Misfortune–all while running from killer clowns. This adrenaline-packed nightmare promises a rich gaming experience that may keep you awake at night–that is, if you can escape.

All of Madame Tussauds’ zones and experiences allow guests to get up more close and personal with their favorite Hollywood celebrities and figures than ever before. Madame Tussauds is available for group visits, school visits, corporate events, and even birthday parties. We went on a Friday afternoon, and had a blast exploring the five stories of experiential fun. The figures we found most lifelike were Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus. All three figures of Michael Jackson impressed us, and we loved seeing his evolution through time. Our favorite zone was Ghostbusters– the subway set mirrored NYC’s own actual subways, which felt both surreal and cinematic. Those interested in visiting Madame Tussauds can visit this website for ticket purchase and further details. The wax museum is currently operating at reduced capacity and is following all COVID-19 protocols.

Reebok × House of Ninja – Fierceness Isn’t Born. It’s Made

Reebok and Iconic Ballroom ‘House of Ninja’ Show That “Fierceness Isn’t Born. It’s Made” to Celebrate Pride 2021

Today, Reebok releases their 2021 Pride campaign film, “Fierceness Isn’t Born. It’s Made,” starring Iconic Ballroom House of Ninja in tandem with the launch of this year’s All Types of Love Pride collection. The collection was designed by Reebok’s LGBTQIA+ employee community, Colorful Soles, who partnered with House of Ninja to amplify the collection through their own legendary ballroom perspective and history.

With this year’s collection, Colorful Soles wanted to pay homage to ballroom culture and what it has brought to not only the LGBTQIA+ community, but humanity on a global scale. The culture has inspired so many trends of colloquialisms, fashion, art, music, and most importantly advocacy, which is why Willi Ninja created House of Ninja in the 1980’s to be a safe-house for members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

In the campaign film, House of Ninja’s Archie Burnett, Javier Madrid, Aisha Murray, and Elizabeth Rivera illustrate the craft of movement that makes up ballroom culture which continues to be a safe haven for many of the LGBTQIA+ community. “It is easy to walk on the dark side, you have to fight for the light. And that takes work. Fierceness isn’t born, it’s made,” said Archie Burnett.

This unisex sized collection includes Pride flag inspired design details as well as a Progress Pride Flag product tag. Each of the shoes in the range includes the All Types of Love manifesto on the tongue or sock liner.  The footwear collection features: Classic Leather ($85), Club-C ($85), InstaPump Fury OG ($170), Zig Kinetica II ($120), Nano X1 ($130), and Floatride Energy 3.0 ($100). The Pride flag inspired apparel collection includes: Oversized Tee with reactive UV color changing ink ($35), Crop workout Tank ($35), Bike shorts ($40), and Hoodie ($55) all featuring the Progress Pride Flag and All Types of Love manifesto on the product label.

As part of its ongoing mission to create an inclusive community of acceptance, Reebok continues to support the LGBTQIA+ community both internally and externally and recognizes that it must start with the youth. So, in addition to a full unisex adult size range, this year’s collection also includes unisex kids Pride Classic Leather for two size ranges: Children ($55) and Infant ($40)!

And, to honor, uplift, and affirm the TGNCI community, Reebok is donating $75,000 to the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, an organization working to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine their gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination, or violence.

The full collection is now available to purchase on Reebok’s website.
