  • The More the Merrier: I will take any excuse to get the people I love under one roof – it’s who I am! When I’m working on the seating arrangements, I love to put the best people together to make sure everyone has fun, and you never know – your seat neighbor might be your New Year’s kiss.  

 

  • Stock up on Refreshments: I’m a big believer in starting parties after 9 pm – guests arrive fed, happy and ready to mingle. Snacks, passed hors d’oeuvres and FRESCA Mixed must be on hand. It is always my go-to drink for hosting because it is ready to drink – you don’t need to mix or measure anything. So convenient and easy! I’ll be toasting to the New Year with a FRESCA Mixed Vodka Spritz Mango Citrus, served in a crystal glass with fancy ice and a dried citrus and rosemary garnish for some festive, bougie flair.

  • Set the Ambiance: Never underestimate the importance of lighting to set the tone. I like to lean into holiday décor with a gorgeous, big tree covered in lights. It makes the room feel cheerful, creating a warm and inviting environment.   
     
  • The Element of Surprise: The mark of a memorable party is one where everyone leaves with a fun story to tell the next day. Don’t be afraid to incorporate a few surprises to get your guests talking and keep them on their toes.   
     
  • After-Party (Always): The party doesn’t stop when the ball drops. Everyone knows the best party is the after party. After the show wraps on New Year’s Eve, you can find me enjoying a FRESCA Mixed for the perfect citrus flavor to add zest to any after party.

Ricco Ross, an accomplished American actor, writer, and social activist, is widely recognized for his contributions to Hollywood and his two-term tenure on the SAG-AFTRA board. During the #OscarsSoWhite era, Ross was instrumental in championing representation in Hollywood casting, emphasizing talent over stereotypes. Born and raised in Chicago, Ross’s humble beginnings set the foundation for his inspiring story. The character’s bisexuality and mysterious nature presented the type of challenge Ross craved, pushing him to channel aspects of his father’s alpha male persona as inspiration.

Dorot Gardens kicked off the pre-holiday season with a celebratory rebranding event at the Moxy Hotel, highlighting its new flavor-focused packaging. The fresh look features clear flavor callouts and a color-coded system, making it easier than ever for consumers to choose the right pre-chopped, fresh frozen herbs and garlic.

Founded in 1992 and based in Israel’s Kibbutz Dorot, Dorot Gardens has transformed cooking with pre-portioned servings that eliminate chopping and measuring, bringing quality and convenience from farm to freezer. Celebrity Chef George Duran, known for Food Network’s Ham on the Street and TLC’s Ultimate Cake Off, introduced his Glazed Onion and Goat Cheese Crostini recipe, just in time for Thanksgiving!

Ingredients:

Small Baguette, cut in 1/2 inch slices

6 oz

Package of Dorot Gardens

Sautéed Onions

Fresh Thyme and Salt Flakes

softened goat cheese

Extra virgin olive oil

Directions:

•Evenly spread goat cheese on each slice of baguette and place on a baking sheet. Drizzle throughout with olive oil and place in a toaster oven or hot oven at 400F until toasted and cheese is slightly browned.

•In the meantime sauté glazed onions with some olive oil in a non-stick pan on medium-high heat until fully thawed and sizzling and add fresh thyme.

•Top each goat cheese crostini evenly with onions, top with reduced balsamic vinegar, fresh thyme leaves and Hlake salt.

Serve immediately and Enjoy!

SPOTLIGHT: ASHLEY VERSHER

Ashley Versher is making waves as the character ‘Lena’ in Netflix’s top-rated drama series Beauty In Black. The show follows a stripper whose life spirals out of control after she strikes a dangerous deal with a wealthy family involved in a sex trafficking ring. Lena, Ashley’s character, is an assertive, no-nonsense attorney as well as an advocate for natural hair in the pursuit of justice.

Reflecting on her first read-through, Ashley described the script as a “page-turner, with drama oozing off the pages.” She’s thrilled that Lena embodies strength and beauty, especially in representing the natural hair journey. Ashley, a multi-talented artist, attributes her passion for filmmaking to her time in New York, where women and Black creatives were at the forefront of independent film.

“If you want to do something, you need to say it out loud,” she says, inspired by her own journey. This sentiment led her to create ‘Brief Exchanges’, a film exploring the microaggressions experienced by a Black woman in New York City. Her next role will be a supporting part in the Netflix film ‘Straw’ (set for release in 2025), starring alongside Taraji P. Henson and Teyana Taylor.

“I was enamored watching Taraji work—such an incredible gift you never imagine you’ll receive,” Ashley says of the experience.

Born in San Francisco, California, Ashley is a vibrant actress, filmmaker, and writer. She’s deeply committed to supporting young filmmakers of color and collaborates with Made In Her Image, a nonprofit that empowers young women, girls, and non-binary youth of color in film and media. Her life mantra, “Imagine the life you want to live.”
