Michael J.Browne’s Art for Auction

Kicking off Dreweatts’ Modern & Contemporary Art auction is Michael J. Browne’s homage to Manchester United painted in 2013. The work shows iconic players such as Ryan Giggs, Eric CantonaDavid Beckham, Paul Scholes, and Wayne Rooney alongside managers Matt Busby and Alex Ferguson in procession. The central figure, Nemanja Vidić, holds a golden ball as the players walk against a backdrop of triumphant iconography drawing on symbols of strength from the Roman Empire including the Colosseum, a triumphant arch, and the Latin word ‘Legio’meaning ‘chosen body or legion’ reigning high above the players, together with ‘X 20 X’ referring to the number of leagues won by United. To the right of the scene is Manchester United’s stadium and across the painting held high on crosses are large silver trophies with gold crowns signifying their success and achievements.

Michael J. Browne was born in Moss Side, Manchester. Growing up in a difficult household Browne found escapism in art from a very young age. He was inspired by anything that he saw around him and turned his creativity into something positive focusing on drawing. At a young age, Browne went to live with his art teacher and went on to study at Chelsea School of Art followed by an MA at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Browne has always been particularly fascinated with the Renaissance masters and has become renowned for depicting well-known figures encompassing topics of cultural importance, history, or religion. Browne shot to fame in 2001 with his work The Art of the Game depicting Eric Catona as Jesus. The work was displayed at the National Portrait Museum. Before this his copy of the Sistine Chapel painted in the Cocotoo restaurant in Manchester caused great publicity between 1992-1994. Other important figures he has illustrated include Wayne Rooney, Donald Trump, and Jeremy Corbyn.

The work is estimated to fetch £10,000-15,000 in Dreweatts’ Modern & Contemporary auction on 12th October 2021.

What’s more, it has bowed at #1 across multiple charts including #1 on the Billboard 200 Chart, #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, and #1 on the Top Rap Albums Chart, with the #1 Consumption and Overall Streaming Debut for 2021.  Certified Lover Boy has smashed the record for most first-week entries on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Way 2 Sexy” featuring Future and Young Thug debuting at #1 and an unprecedented total of 9 simultaneous entries within the Top 10.  This marks the first time in history that an artist has ever debuted with the Top 5 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.  It is also the first time an artist has ever debuted with 9 songs in the Top 10 and one of the rare and special occasions when an artist captures #1 on both the Billboard 200 Chart and Billboard Hot 100.

I moved to Seattle in 2009” – Gundersen says a small-town kid, just 20 years old. I lived out of my sleeping bag in garages, under tables, on couches, until finally moving into a place in the Queen Anne neighborhood with some friends. There was a feeling that anything was possible. Over time, like all things, the city changed. The few bands that made it moved away, while the less fortunate gracefully bowed out when the insurmountable odds finally stacked too high. Tech companies moved in and priced out the artists. The culture of the place I fell in love with slowly disappeared. When Covid hit in early 2020, all the bars closed and I finally realized my time there was over. So I packed up and left. And yet, like Lots wife, I cant help looking back, the voice in my head taunting me with Springsteens Glory Days. I loved Seattle. I miss it. Or I guess I miss the memory of it.”

MORGAN CONFIRMS ALL-NEW THREE-WHEELED MODEL

The vehicle in the accompanying photographs is confirmed as the replacement for the Morgan 3 Wheeler undergoing testing.

The new model will be defined by its all-new design, significant engineering enhancements, and a spirit of adventure.

New design language inspired by the early jet age ensures that the new model will be instantly recognizable from its predecessors.

The all-new model will be powered by an internal combustion engine at launch, specifically an inline three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine from Ford

The use of a Ford engine continues Morgan’s long-established application of Ford engines. In fact, the company has used Ford engines in both three and four-wheeled models since 1933.

The Morgan Motor Company has confirmed it is working on an all-new three-wheeled vehicle to replace the outgoing Morgan 3-Wheeler. An early glimpse of the model shows a heavily disguised engineering prototype undergoing durability testing.
Having previously stated “The Morgan 3-Wheeler will return”, this announcement of a new model officially marks the beginning of the next chapter in the story of Morgan’s three-wheeled vehicles.

Whilst a name is not confirmed for the new three-wheeled model, it will be defined by an all-new design, adventurous character, and significant engineering advancements. In particular, the vehicle will take inspiration from the many owners of the outgoing model that have embraced adventure travel and touring, and whose incredible journeys have reached all corners of the globe.

Whilst many details on the new model is yet to be announced, the use of an internal combustion engine can be confirmed. Specifically, a naturally aspirated inline three-cylinder Ford engine, which continues the company’s long-standing use of Ford powerplants. Its testing and durability programme marks the most extensive validation of any Morgan ever developed.

Orders for the previous Morgan 3 Wheeler – which started production in 2011 – closed at the beginning of 2021, with the production of these veicles taking place throughout the year. This includes the final 33 P101 cars, which saw a number of cosmetic enhancements to celebrate the end of the model’s highly successful ten-year production run.

Morgan’s three-wheelers date back to the founding of the company in 1909, when its founder, HFS Morgan, built a three-wheeled vehicle to transport him around the Malvern Hills. It immediately proved popular and spawned many variants over the coming decades. In fact, it wasn’t until nearly thirty years into the firm’s history that it would start producing four-wheeled cars.

ZillaKami of City Morgue shares a rock-driven new single and video entitled “Not Worth It” via Hikari Ultra/Republic Records. The guitar-laden track shows another side of the dynamic New York disruptor. Distortion wraps around a glitchy beat as he flexes his falsetto between moments of incisive introspective reflection, “Everybody loves me, but I don’t deserve it.” As always, his words cut deep. While in the music video, ZillaKami’s rock essence shines in a crew of moshers swarming a skate park.

It arrives on the heels of “FROSTY” which attracted critical acclaim. Right out of the gate, XXL named it among “The 13 Best New Songs This Week,” while HotNewHipHop christened him “one of the earliest and most creative members of the emo-rap wave.” It has gathered 3.2 million Spotify streams and counting and 2.1 million views on the haunting Here.

Brand launches new collection that expands responsibly made products and supports “Be Your Own Champion” campaign

As part of its global “Be Your Own Champion” campaign, Champion Athleticwear today announced that it has launched Champion Renewed in partnership with The Renewal Workshop – a company that renews apparel that would have otherwise gone into landfill.

The partnership helps extend the lifespan of the brand’s apparel and reduce waste, while supporting the “Be Your Own Champion” campaign inspired by Champion’s consumers – who care as much about how they play the game as the end result. It also articulates the brand’s commitment to designing stylish, athletic apparel and footwear that enables everyone to be a champion by confidently expressing themselves … and feel good while doing it.

The exclusive, Champion Renewed line features the brand’s iconic Reverse Weave® sweatshirts renewed by The Renewal Workshop. The collection ranges from $30-$45 (40% off the original MSRP) and is available at Here.

“To us, ‘Be Your Own Champion’ means encouraging consumers to do things the right way and do them with heart – both on and off the field,” said Jon Ram, group president of global activewear for HanesBrands. “Extending the life of apparel that would have likely ended up in landfill is part of that effort, and it gives our consumers yet another reason to be proud to wear our brand.”

The Renewal Workshop uses Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology to measure the impact of the textile fibers most frequently received, such as cotton, polyester and wool. Using this data, in addition to each garment’s weight, the organization can evaluate energy savings, greenhouse gas reductions, and water consumption decreases, among other things, for each item that is renewed. The Renewal Workshop then sorts, grades, thoroughly sanitizes the products using state-of-the-art waterless technology and repairs them to like-new standards. Once inspected and verified to joint quality standards, they are given a Renewal Workshop tag and made available for purchase.

The partnership between Champion and The Renewal Workshop is part of the brand’s promise to increase the use of responsibly made fabrics and find ways to creatively reuse products to reduce energy use and water consumption during the manufacturing process. As part of the HanesBrands family, Champion’s efforts support the company’s 2025-2030 global sustainability goals, which include all of its brands having a fully circular product or significant circularity initiative by 2025.

Champion has already made significant progress reaching ongoing sustainability goals, including offering classic jersey tees made with 100% U.S. cotton, which is traceable and some of the most responsibly produced fiber in the world; introducing two environmentally conscious collections, Natural State and Rally Pro Earth, in 2021; and manufacturing “Game Day” sweats using 95% recycled polyester fibers, as well as other Sports category apparel with a significant percentage of recycled polyester fiber.
