Singer, songwriter, and producer BabyJake announces his highly anticipated debut album, The Sun Wakes Up Earlier Now, is set for release on September 3rd—pre-order the album now here. On The Sun Wakes Up Earlier Now, the Florida-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer promises he’s “bringing back rock ‘n’ roll”. However, this isn’t your parents’ rock ‘n’ roll, it’s got all of the style, swagger, and spirit of the seventies, but it’s lit up by a fresh fire. The 11-track genre-blurring album was recorded over the past year and a half in Los Angeles, and BabyJake co-wrote and co-produced the songs with various collaborators, including Bipolar Sunshine, Lizzy McAlpine, and Linda Perry, to name a few.

On the The Sun Wakes Up Earlier Now, BabyJake says, “For me, the album represents crossing into a world of not giving a fuck what anybody thinks and showing I’m a human being. I’m going to dress how I want to dress, act how I want to act, and make what I want to make. If it works, great. Either way, I’m going to keep trucking along.”

To commemorate the release, BabyJake will perform his first-ever headlining shows next month in New York at Baby’s All Right on September 9th and Los Angeles at Moroccan Lounge on September 15th. Not to mention, he will also perform at select festivals this fall, including Napa Valley’s BottleRock on September 3rd and Tampa’s Gasparilla on October 1st. Earlier this summer, BabyJake released a handful of singles from the album, including “Do I Fit In Your Shoes?”, “Funny Thing About Love” with Bipolar Sunshine, and “Daddy’s Coming Home,” which have been praised by Billboard, V Magazine, TMRW Magazine, American Songwriter, and many more.

The Sun Wakes Up Earlier Now follows BabyJake’s 2020 debut EP Don’t give me problems, give me wine, hailed by critics and fans alike. The seven-song genre-bending EP features his breakout single “Head In The Clouds” and was acclaimed by Notion, The Line Of Best Fit, Ones To Watch, This Song Is Sick, Lyrical Lemonade, and more. Wonderland stated, “Few artists are able to bounce so seamlessly from genre to genre than BabyJake,” while Flaunt proclaimed, “BabyJake is on his way to superstardom.” Earlier this year, BabyJake teamed up with Louis The Child on “Somewhere Else.”

TOOSII × LATTO DROP FEEL-GOOD VIDEO – 5’5

Syracuse-born, North Carolina-raised rapper Toosii returns today with a nostalgic video for his hit single, “5’5” featuring Latto. The track is a standout from Toosii’s new mixtape, Thank You For Believing (The Manifestation), out now via South Coast Music Group/Capitol Records. The visual finds Toosii getting romantic and dancing at a throwback house party-all baggy pants, bucket hats, and hoop earrings. It’s a cheerful clip for the feel-good rap track. Toosii’s latest ode to love finds the rapper moving from a quick flow to melodic bars. The video for “5’5” – directed by Joan Pabon, produced by Andreas Garcia and shot in Atlanta – stars Toosii at a bumping house party when his “angel” makes her way in. The two shoot pool, take turns at the keg, and find some chemistry on the dancefloor. Latto makes an appearance for her stellar verse, and together, the two take the party outside where they can more freely show off their moves.

“5’5” follows the video for “spin music” with Fivio Foreign, the first single from Thank You For Believing (The Manifestation), the deluxe version of Toosii’s acclaimed 2021 mixtape. The “spin music” visual mirrors the song’s kinetic energy, jumping between scenes of ATVs, parties, and bedrooms in a dizzying array of lenses, camera angles, and special effects. VIBE wrote that the track “finds the two New Yorkers delivering what could be the city’s latest drill anthem.”

The “5’5” video continues Toosii’s unbelievable run from a grinding upstart to becoming a globally celebrated rapper. X Ambassadors Release New Song – Adrenaline

Multi-platinum-selling rock band X Ambassadors share a new song called “Adrenaline.” Released via KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records, “Adrenaline” follows last month’s release of “Okay” and the June release of their darkly cinematic track “My Own Monster” whose black-and-white visual finds Harris performing a choreographed routine with his own shadow. All three songs will be featured on the band’s third studio album The Beautiful Liar which is set for release on September 24th. Charlie Bushnell is an up-and-coming actor that stars as Bobby Cañero-Reed in the Disney+ original series Diary of a Future President. The Disney+ original series produced by Gina Rodriguez’s production company I Can and I Will Productions is told through creator and producer Elena’s narration as written in her diary. The series follows the daily events of Elena’s life and her interactions with friends and family. She lives with her older brother, Bobby (portrayed by Charlie); and mother, Gabi. Elena has a strong desire to become a president of the United States, which is made visible through flash-forwards to her political campaign as an adult. All 10 episodes of the highly-anticipated Second Season is available on Disney+ to watch now.

We had the opportunity to ask Charlie about acting on the show and balancing his acting life with his personal, high school life:

You decided that you wanted to act while binging Stranger Things. What about the tv show inspired you to start acting? What other television and TV shows do you look to for inspiration?

Yeah! Stranger Things created such an extraordinary world, and I just fell in love with everything about it – the characters, the story, etc.… It was so unique, and I’d never seen anything like it before. All the main characters are kids around my age, so I could really relate to them. For some reason, even though I had never thought about it before, it just hit me that I could do that too… and now I’m here! It’s been a pretty wild ride so far, and I appreciate every minute of it. Another one of my all-time favorite shows is The Office.

Has it been difficult to balance high school and acting? How do you deal with the busy schedule and still maintain the activities you’ve previously enjoyed?

It can definitely be a lot, but I make it a priority to always create time for myself and relax, even when life is crazy busy. When we filmed season 2, it was during the school year, and as students, we had to do at least 3 hours of school a day on set, so we basically had no breaks besides lunch, lol. When we weren’t filming, we were doing school, and when we weren’t doing school, we were filming. But I LOVE what I do, and even though it can be quite stressful at times, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What has been your favorite part of acting in Diary of a Future President?

I literally cannot think of one negative thing or experience I’ve had while working on this show, so every part is my favorite part, haha… but if I had to choose, definitely the people. I have made some life-long friends on this show. We all get along so well and always have an absolute blast together on set. I love my Diary family so much! ❤️

Where do you hope your character Bobby Cañero-Reed goes in this next season? Can you give any teasers for what’s next for him in the new season?

In season 2, Bobby is in high school and has everything all planned out. He’s looking forward to joining the varsity tennis team and getting closer to Liam; however, things don’t exactly go as planned. As expected, after entering high school, Bobby’s world really opens up, and he meets a lot of really cool new people.

Diary of a Future President is one of your biggest roles. Has it taught you anything new about acting and the business? What have you taken away from the experience?

Well, Bobby is really my only role (so far), haha… But yes! I have learned so much while working on this show. As an actor, watching pros like Gina Rodriguez, Selenis Leyva, Michael Weaver, Jessica Marie Garcia, and others just do their thing is like the ultimate master class in acting. Everyone on this show is so incredibly talented; it’s insane. But I’ve also learned so much about the filmmaking process as a whole and just how much goes into it. When you watch the final product of a movie or show, you really only see the actor. Still, something I’ve really opened my eyes to while working on this show is that literally every single person in the cast and on the crew – from the lighting department to the camera operators to HMU to wardrobe, etc.… plays such a crucial part in the making of a TV show or movie. It would not be possible without every single one of them—huge shoutout to our Diary crew. You guys are the best! ❤️

About Charlie Bushnell:

Los Angeles-native Charlie Bushnell was born into an artistic family and was always destined to be in entertainment. The son of a musician, grandson of a jazz singer and nephew to a film and television actor, at just 10 years old he started making movies with his friends.

While binge-watching “Stranger Things”, he made the decision to pursue acting. In the beginning, Bushnell self-trained by memorizing his favorite film monologues. He participated in school plays and eventually started taking professional acting classes at John Rosenfeld Studios, Ruskin Academy, amongst others.

Auditions quickly followed and he soon landed the role of Bobby Cañero-Reed in the Disney+ coming-of-age comedy series Diary of a Future President, executive produced by Gina Rodriguez through her production company, I Can and I Will.

The series follows 13-year old Cuban-American Elena in her journey to become the future president of the United States while navigating the ups-and-downs of middle school. Bobby is Elena’s sweet and mischievous older brother, now a freshman in high school.

Presently, you will see Charlie reprise his role as Bobby in the upcoming season on Disney+. You will see him grow and blossom as he navigates high school.

Off screen, Charlie, currently a junior in high school, loves playing tennis, camping, playing guitar, going to the beach, volunteering at a food shelter and enjoying time with his family and friends.

Black-Owned Crowns × Hops Brewing Beer in Honor of Stacy Abrams

This past weekend, Crowns & Hops Brewing Co., the first Black-owned craft beer brand in Inglewood, CA, released “The Blue Peach” – a Blueberry Peach gose that is brewed in collaboration with Barrel & Flow (Black beer festival in Pittsburg, PA) and Black Calder Brewing (first Black-owned brewery in Grand Rapids, MI). The beer was made in honor of Stacey Abrams, and a percentage of the funds generated from its sale will be donated to Fair Fight, a national voting rights organization focused on voter suppression and protecting voting rights. “The Blue Peach” is a limited edition beer and is currently available in select retailers in Los Angeles. In addition to the release of “The Blue Peach,” Crowns & Hops Brewing Co. will co-host a panel discussion and mixer with the Inglewood Chamber of Commerce and the City of Inglewood. The event takes place on Wednesday, August 25, and is held in celebration of Black Business Month.

Crowns & Hops Brewing Co. recently launched their equity crowdfunding campaign “OWN CROWNS” to invite the community to invest in the brand’s mission and success. The capital raised will go directly to the buildout of their new flagship restaurant/brewpub Crowns Inglewood, a 14k sq foot location off of Manchester & Crenshaw and a little over a mile from the SOFI Stadium. David Byrne’s American Utopia Directed by Spike Lee

Iconic Events Releasing, Participant, River Road Entertainment, Warner Music Entertainment, and HBO Entertainment announced today the theatrical debut of the Emmy-nominated feature David Byrne’s American Utopia, coming to movie theaters nationwide for a special, one-night-only theatrical event on Wednesday, September 15th, 2021. These unique theatrical events will also include an introduction by David Byrne, as well as a never-before-seen conversation with Byrne and director Spike Lee.

Directed by Oscar and Emmy award-winning director Spike Lee and produced by 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, Todomundo, and RadicalMedia, the one-of-a-kind, dynamic special gives moviegoing audiences nationwide access to Byrne’s electrifying Broadway show that played to sold-out, record-breaking audiences during its original 2019-2020 Broadway run and returns to Broadway beginning September 17, 2021 at the St. James Theatre. Seismic Dance Event announces huge lineup

Seismic Dance Event, the premiere boutique house and techno music festival in Austin, Texas, has announced the phase one lineup for their highly-anticipated return to The Concourse Project on November 12-14. Dropping more than forty names that define the sounds of the global underground dance movement, Seismic continues its legacy as a must-visit event for techno tourists and genre devotées with the Seismic Dance Event 4.0 lineup.

Since its launch in 2018, Seismic has sought to gather a forward-thinking assemblage of musical talent in an intimate environment. Produced by Austin dance power-house RealMusic Events, the festival prides itself on showcasing the city as a rising destination for dance music. Taking place over the seven acre Concourse Project venue, fans are treated to world-class production on three stages both indoor and outdoor plus art installations, food trucks, and a multitude of surprises that make this the region’s most immersive electronic event.

Seismic’s renowned Volcano Stage welcomes some of global techno’s brightest stars including Nina Kraviz, Amelie Lens, ANNA, Pan-Pot, Will Clarke, and Ida Engberg. The genre’s melodic titans will also be on full display with coveted sets live from Stephan Bodzin and Ben Böhmer as well as triumphs from Yotto, Luttrell, Patrice Bäumel, Öona Dahl, Adriatique, Township Rebellion, Jonas Rathsman, and Rinzen.

The Tsunami Stage will gather some of the most celebrated 4/4 DJs and producers from every corner of the world for the three day event. Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus, South African legend Black Coffee and the mighty Bonobo (dj set) top the lineup alongside Paradise’s Jamie Jones, the masked wonder of Claptone, chart topper Dom Dolla, UK house duo Solardo, Trikk’s Patrick Topping, the globe-trotting Seth Troxler and Solid Grooves founder Michael Bibi.

The bill continues with standout performances from the likes of Kyle Watson, Eats Everything, Booka Shade (live), Mark Knight, Mason Maynard, Steve Darko, Cloonee and more. A third immersive stage environment will be announced ahead of the show.

Multi-platinum selling recording artist Trippie Redd has announced his forthcoming album, Trip At Knight, will be released on August 20 via 10K Projects/Virgin. His fourth studio album will include features from Drake, Juice WRLD, XXXTentacion, Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, Polo G, Lil Durk, SoFaygo, Ski Mask The Slump God, BabyFace Ray, Sada Baby and Icewear Vezzo. Five days after its release, Trippie will kick off his headlining North American tour, Tripp At Knight, produced by Live Nation and presented by Rolling Loud, on August 25 at The Armory in Minneapolis, MN. Despite the odds, 2021 has been one of Trippie’s biggest years to date. His latest single “Miss The Rage” with Playboi Carti, which features on the album, debuted at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (the highest chart debut for either artist) and its music video surpassed 1M views in four hours. He also kicked off the year with his first-ever rock album NEON SHARK, produced by close friend and collaborator Travis Barker. NEON SHARK features appearances by Machine Gun Kelly, Chino Moreno (Deftones), blackbear and more, and acts as the deluxe edition of Trippie’s October 2020 album, Pegasus, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart.

About Trippie Redd:

One of the most versatile and creatively daring artists in hip-hop today, Trippie Redd makes music that’s both wildly experimental and massively appealing. Since delivering his debut mixtape A Love Letter to You in 2017, the multi-platinum-selling, chart-topping rapper, singer and songwriter has continually defied genre boundaries, embedding his melodic take on rap with frenetic elements of rock-and-roll and heavy metal. And with his penetrating lyrics and nuanced but hard-hitting vocal performance, the 21-year-old Ohio native matches that endless ingenuity with a powerfully raw emotional impact.

A self-professed workaholic who’s now debuted five consecutive projects in the top 5 of the Billboard 200 chart —Trippie got his start as a teenager “living in a basement with roaches recording music,” as he tells it. Born Michael Lamar White IV and raised in Canton, Ohio, he grew up on hip-hop icons like Tupac Shakur, Nas, and Jay-Z, but later became fascinated with the shock-rock of Slipknot and Rob Zombie. Though 2020 brought its fair share of adjustments, Trippie used his time in quarantine to make some of his boldest career moves yet, including making his acting debut during an episode of Lil Dicky’s critically acclaimed DAVE and headlining Rolling Loud’s Loud Stream. Trippie also dropped his highly anticipated album, Pegasus, on Halloween. The mythical LP, which debuted at #2, included the intoxicating “Excitement” featuring PARTYNEXTDOOR and highlighted Trippie bridging the generational gap with the legendary Busta Rhymes on “I Got You.” The deluxe version of Pegasus comes in the form of NEON SHARK: Presented By Travis Barker, released in February.
