ARIN RAY RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE — “WE AIN’T HOMIES” — TODAY VIA ALL DIGITAL PARTNERS

TRACK IS FIRST SINGLE FROM SINGER-SONGWRITER’S UPCOMING PROJECT

Arin Ray releases his debut single, “We Ain’t Homies,” today via all digital partners. Ray wrote and produced the track himself along with producers F Keys and his brother Chuckie. The FADER debuted the song yesterday here.
“It’s a chill, laid-back record, something you can ride to,” Ray says. “It’s about people being fake, coming up talking like, ‘Oh yeah, man, you’re so dope, I wanna work with you,’ when you know they’re hating on you from afar. There’s always the one person who just wants to be in the conversation because it’s hot right now, but you know they don’t have your back at the end of the day. I think anyone can relate to the song, it’s everyday life.”
“We Ain’t Homies” is the first single to be released from the Cincinnati-born singer and songwriter’s upcoming debut project, which finds him working with producers Terrace Martin (Kendrick Lamar), Nez and Rio (A$AP Rocky), and Childish Major (Future, J. Cole) to refocus . Ray has crafted a polished body of boundary-pushing tracks that incorporate everything from steel guitars to saxophones, glistening synths to gutsy, bluesy riffs.
Ray was born with music in his blood. His father was the drummer for early ‘90s new jack swing groups New Edition, Bell Biv DeVoe, and the Babyface-fronted After 7, and his aunt sang background vocals for Marvin Gaye. A week after graduating high school, Ray moved to Los Angeles, where he hooked up with production team the Underdogs, who invited him to work in their studio. Over the course of the next few years, Ray racked up writing credits on songs for Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, John Legend, Jason Derulo, and K. Michelle while gearing up to make his own music.
“This is my calling,” he says. “I think I come with something fresh. My music has that old-school feel, but still has that new bounce. There are some great artists out there pushing the culture forward. I wanna be one of them.”
