Rising indie-pop artist Alexander 23 has released the video for his lovesick song “Caught in the Middle.” Directed by Kee Hwang, the visual- shot in a LA-based bar- captures the early 2000s-feel of the nostalgic single. While “Caught in the Middle” first comes across as a happy-go-lucky, upbeat song, the underlying meaning is more thoughtful, focusing in on the uncomfortable familiarity of what was once a significant relationship.

“Caught in the Middle,” follows the infectious, “IDK You Yet,” which blew up on the video-sharing site TikTok and landed the Chicago native in the top 10 of Rolling Stone‘s Breakthrough 25. Since its release in May, the track has garnered over 113 million global streams (44 million in the U.S. alone). On August 11th the Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist will make his late-night TV debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden with a performance of “IDK You Yet.”
