Party Like A Royal

Atlantis Paradise Island, the entertainment capital of the Caribbean, kicked off 2025 with its fourth- annual Party Like a Royal New Year’s Eve celebrations. The talented comedian, actor and producer Adam Devine, most known for his roles in Pitch Perfect and Workaholics, hosted the sold-out event at Atlantis’ Royal Deck under the resort’s famed Royal Towers, entertaining resort guests, visitors, and locals alike.

The star-studded night began with a DJ set from the GRAMMY® award-winning, multi-platinum artist Lil Jon who hyped the crowd as he stood on top of his DJ booth and delivered some of his top hits including “Get Low,” “Shots,” “Turn Down for What,” and “Yeah”. In addition to this, Lil Jon spun a set compilation of other tracks such as DMX’s “Party Up,” Flo Rida’s “Low,” Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.” The superstar unexpectedly guided a roaring crowd in a positivity mantra to help kick off 2025 on a high note.

Just before midnight, GRAMMY®-nominated singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding took the stage for a surprise performance, delighting concertgoers with a lineup of her most recognizable songs including “Lights,” “Still Falling For You,” “Love Me Like You Do,” “Miracle” and more. She ended her 11-song set with one of her most famous tracks, “Burn.” Earlier in the day, Ellie was spotted relaxing poolside at The Cove at Atlantis.

As the clock was about to strike 12:00, Lil Jon, Ellie Goulding, and Adam Devine all took to the stage leading guests in the countdown to 2025. The evening culminated with a dazzling firework display and a set by award-winning DJ Webstar, who kept the celebration going until 1:30 a.m.

Other highlights from the evening’s festivities included Adam Devine and his wife, actress Chloe Bridges, sharing a New Year’s kiss at the stroke of midnight on stage in front of the crowd, who were also spotted earlier in the day at the Cove Beach. Guests were also entertained throughout the night by stilt walkers and synchronized swimmers in the Royal Pool, who put on a stunning performance throughout the venue.

The New Year’s Eve celebrations followed Steve Aoki’s performance at Atlantis’ Aura Nightclub earlier in the week, which kicked off the Party Like a Royal New Year’s Eve celebration. The GRAMMY®-nominated EDM superstar took the stage shortly after midnight and thrilled a sold-out crowd with an unforgettable set featuring tracks such as “Pursuit of Happiness,” “Nataaoki,” “MIC Drop” and more.

The week’s festivities also included a powerhouse performance by GRAMMY®-winning R&B group 112. Taking the stage at Bar Sol, located within the newly reimagined Atlantis Casino, the legendary group that rose to fame in the 1990s delivered an unforgettable set featuring hits like “Peaches and Cream,” “Cupid,” and a heartfelt tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. with “I’ll Be Missing You.”

Ice Spice – Y2K!

4x GRAMMY-nominated and Bronx phenom Ice Spice dropped her explosive Y2K!: I’m Just A Girl (Deluxe) album, out now via 10K Projects/Capitol Records. The Deluxe features 5 brand new tracks, including “Hannah Montana” featuring NLE Choppa and DaBaby, with additional features from BB Trickz and Anuel AA. Listen HERE.

Ice’s wildly anticipated official debut album Y2K!, was originally released in July and came stacked with hits including the Sean Paul-sampling “Gimmie A Light” and hater-dismissing “Think U The Shit (Fart),” which notably became her highest solo charting single on the Billboard Hot 100 (#37). The album also included hits like “Phatt Butt,” “Oh Shhh…” featuring Travis Scott, and the smash summer anthem “Did It First” featuring Central Cee. The video for the infidelity anthem (watch HERE) has since racked up over 42M views, while the song went on to peak on Spotify’s US (#34) and Global (#41) charts.

Pitchfork hailed Y2K! for featuring “some of her most dynamic and abrasive bars to date,” while also praising the album for sounding “like nothing her peers could make, swerving from one sonic inspiration to the next.”

Ice spent the summer dominating the world with her Y2K! WORLD TOUR. Produced by Live Nation, the tour began with a series of festival performances across Europe, and included her first ever headlining North American run with sold out shows at Terminal 5 in New York City, the iconic Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, and more. The Y2K! WORLD TOUR also saw Ice take Europe and the UK by storm with a fall headline run that included shows across Dublin, Manchester, London, Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen, and more.

Y2K! confirms what’s been in the air since Ice’s 2023 debut EP, Like..?, landed her on year-end lists from the likes of Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, and numerous others. Hits like “Munch (Feelin U)” and the Platinum-selling “In Ha Mood” and “Princess Diana” have taken Ice straight to the top of the rap game and brought her a slew of honors, including two People’s Choice Awards, an MTV VMA, a BET Hip-Hop Award, and the Hitmaker Award at the 2024 Billboard Women In Music event. All signs point toward Ice extending her dominance.

A$AP Rocky + HOMMEMADE at Art Basel

This weekend, amidst the buzz of Design Miami 2024, multi-hyphenated artist, entrepreneur, actor and fashion icon A$AP Rocky held a private viewing of The Galaxy Collection, the latest collection from HOMMEMADE, his design studio x furniture & home goods brand

Known for his style, music, and influence on culture, A$AP Rocky is establishing a creative work/living space experience through HOMMEMADE Studios with architectural spaces that provide an artistic and productive environment for traveling and or working creatives. Hommemade aims to challenge conventional design by creating pieces that defy normalcy, inspire creativity, and ensure comfort.

The Galaxy Collection, the second release of Rocky’s HOMMEMADE, expands his Retro Futurism world building – an amalgamation of his own unique style and commitment to solidifying his stake in the design world. The Galaxy Collection provides a deeper look into what a surreal retro futuristic lifestyle would look like from the POV from a Satellite. The “Satellamp” projector / lamp compliments the theory of the collection, while the Skyline Carpet collaboration with Gufram gives a more zoomed-in perspective. These pieces, highlighted by Rocky’s most audacious piece to date – a portable, all-in-one state of the art Studio and Entertainment Center, The CBNT.V1, share a common push/pull theme of retro meets futuristic.

The collection is now available to purchase. For more information, reach out to hommemade@awge.com

Weight Loss + GLP-1 Drug Dangers

Balancing Wellness with Potential Weight Loss Drug Dangers

By: Swathi Varanasi-Diaz, Pharm.D., & Scientific Advisor, MYOS MD

GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy have become central to the weight-loss conversation, and it’s easy to see why they can produce impressive results. However, alongside their benefits, there are potential side effects and risks that often go unnoticed. As an integrative pharmacist and natural medicine specialist, my goal is to provide insight on how to manage these side effects, should you choose to explore these medications, and help you make an informed decision about your health.

First, let’s talk about the risks. One of the most common risks involves gastrointestinal issues. Nausea and vomiting may seem like minor side effects that come with taking medication, but they may lead to something more serious called gastroparesis. This condition makes it harder for your stomach to empty itself, causing chronic digestive issues. If you’re new to GLP-1 drugs, ask your healthcare provider if you can start at the lowest dose possible that will still be effective, and then increase the dosage gradually. Staying hydrated and adding fiber to your diet can also help manage milder symptoms and prevent further complications.

Rapid muscle loss is one of the most overlooked downsides of these medications. Losing weight is the goal, but losing muscle along the way? That’s not ideal. Muscle loss slows your metabolism and can make you feel weaker and more vulnerable to injury, especially as you age. To counter this, you should engage in routine weight bearing activities combined with exercise that gets your heart rate up to avoid muscle loss. However, due to the rapid weight loss associated with GLP-1 drugs, this may not be enough. As a medical advisor at MYOS MD, I highly recommend to healthcare providers that they add a natural dietary supplement called Fortetropin to a patient’s nutrition plan when they prescribe GLP-1 drugs. This natural bioactive compound derived from fertilized egg yolk has been shown in six published clinical studies to effectively increase and support muscle health. A recent University of California, Berkeley study, published in The Journals of Gerontology, showed Fortetropin increased muscle protein synthesis by 18% in adults with an average age of 66, even without exercise. This supplement is an easy, proactive addition to your nutrition that can help maintain muscle while you are shedding pounds. Patients should discuss the option of Fortetropin with their healthcare provider, as it is only available through select healthcare practitioner supplement lines, like MYOS MD.

Now let’s talk about off-label misuse. GLP-1 drugs are increasingly used by people with normal BMIs (BMI: 18.5-24.9) for cosmetic purposes to lose a few pounds. But heed this warning: The weight often comes back, and it’s mostly fat, not muscle. In fact, these drugs are only FDA approved for people with a BMI of 27 and above. Building sustainable habits with balanced meals and consistent movement is always the better long-term solution. Think twice before jumping on the GLP-1 medication bandwagon simply because someone you know had success with them. These drugs come with a hefty price tag, and if your health insurance doesn’t cover them, maintaining their use over the long term can become financially overwhelming. More importantly, GLP-1 medications aren’t quick fixes; they’re designed to be lifetime treatments. Understanding this commitment is crucial before making a decision.

Mental health concerns are another overlooked side effect of GLP-1 medications, yet they can significantly impact a patient’s overall well-being. Many individuals report experiencing mood swings, heightened anxiety, or even depression while on these medications, which can be easily dismissed as isolated incidents. That’s why I advocate for a whole-person approach to managing health and longevity. Incorporating mindfulness practices, such as yoga and meditation, can help balance emotional well-being, while regular talk therapy sessions provide valuable support in navigating any mental health challenges that arise. Equally important is maintaining an open line of communication with your healthcare team, ensuring they are aware of any shifts in mood or behavior so they can offer appropriate guidance and adjustments to your treatment plan. Taking a comprehensive approach to your mental health can make all the difference in achieving long-term success with GLP-1 medications.

Weight loss should make you feel better. It should not be about trading one health problem for another. GLP-1 drugs are not a one-size-fits-all solution. By understanding these risks and taking proactive steps to mitigate side effects, these medications can be used wisely to promote a healthier lifestyle.

Cakes + Craft Phnom Penh

Expats may experience occasional cravings for comfort food from their home country. Cakes + Crafts will satisfy your taste buds, so stop searching. It brings back memories of Johnny Rockets, Fat Burger, Sonic Burger, Coney Island, In-and-Out Burger, and Smash Burger.

A motley crew of Khmericans and Cambodians owns and operates this cantina, which is infused with emerging artists and skateboard enthusiasts. Most of their ingredients and condiments, such as hot sauce, are obtained from local suppliers by the establishment. They also offer Heinz ketchup and French’s yellow mustard. The chicken is seasoned and battered using a family recipe to make it extra crispy (they use eggs). The hot dogs and smoked bacon are produced by local vendors instead of being processed, and the buns come from a resident baker who makes them in-house. The reason to visit are the home-cut fries alone. Your chili palate will be easily satisfied by homemade hot sauces. Their on-site mixologist easily creates a Long Island or a simple two-part cocktail. Chang Beer is available on draft (from Thailand), Cambodian beer is available in cans, and Jagermeister shots. Their Happy Hour and menu items are always changing, so be sure to check their websites for real-time amendments.

This place is a great place to visit due to its excellent service, trendy atmosphere, and delicious food. Generally speaking, the freshest foods tend to taste best when made on-site. Alternatively, you can order through Nahm24/Food Panda for delivery or use Grab Express for pickup.

Lastly, Cakes + Craft hosts birthday gatherings and viewing parties for UFC fights as well as soccer matches.
