Today, Amazon Music reveals a new, globe-trotting lineup of artists for its City Sessions concert series. Featuring some of the best artists from across R&B, pop, Afrobeats, and beyond, Amazon Music will exclusively broadcast performances from Omah Lay, Muni Long, and SOFI TUKKER in August and September. These artists join previously announced City Sessions performances from salsa legends Grupo Niche and Mexican Music powerhouse Bronco. These performances will stream live from Los Angeles, Bogotá, New York City, Monterrey, and more. A full schedule can be found below.

Next week on Thursday, August 15, Nigerian star Omah Lay will broadcast a special City Sessions concert from New York City. As part of the 25-year-old singer and producer’s performance, Omah Lay will perform his new single “Moving” for the first time live on the stream. A global superstar on the rise, Omah Lay’s Warner Records’ debut album, Boy Alone, was released to critical acclaim and was named “Afrobeats’ brooding new visionary” by Rolling Stone as part of their “Future 25” series. With his darkly sparkling vocals, evocative storytelling, and contagious rhythms, Omah Lay is one of Nigeria’s most talked about innovators.

Bamboo 1947: Then and Now by Gucci

Gucci announces the opening of ‘Bamboo 1947: Then and Now. Celebrating 60 Years of Gucci in Japan’, a landmark exhibition now on display at the Gucci Ginza Gallery in Tokyo.

Running until September 23rd, the exhibition honors Gucci’s 60 years in Japan with a blend of historical and contemporary perspectives on the iconic Bamboo 1947 bag. Created by Guccio Gucci and his Florentine artisans, the bag’s bamboo handles were a revolutionary design choice that set the Bamboo 1947 bag apart.

The exhibition spans two floors of the Gucci Ginza Gallery. The 6th floor features approximately 400 Bamboo 1947 bags, ranging from archival pieces dating back to 1959 to the latest designs by Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, as well as special pieces from collaborative projects with Japanese traditional crafts.

The 7th floor is dedicated to a unique collection of 60 vintage Bamboo 1947 bags from the 1980s and 1990s reimagined by a distinguished group of Japanese traditional artisans and contemporary artists: Morihito Katsura and his apprentice Naoko Ai, Ai Tokeshi, Hirotsune Nakazato, Daido Moriyama, Yui Yaegashi, and Nami Yokoyama.

Today, multi-Platinum, GRAMMY®, BRIT, Golden Globe and Oscar winning artist and songwriter Sam Smith premieres the official video for “I’m Not The Only One” FT. Alicia Keys. Directed by Ava Rikki (Babyface, Steve Aoki, FLETCHER), the video includes footage from Sam’s 2024 Pride party at Julius, the oldest gay bar in New York City. Attending to the erased voices of Vietnamese, Senegalese, and Moroccan history, it proposes a space for communal healing and remembrance.

Nguyễn’s films move along spectrums of fact and fiction, past and present, memory and forgetting. He uses the power of storytelling to create speculative visions of painful histories. He opens a doorway of empathy and healing for both the subject and viewer. “When we were making ‘Pretty in Pink,’” McCarthy says during the special, “John Hughes used to come to the set with a cassette recorder. And he’d have these little cassettes that he would just play. ‘Hey, guys, what do you think of this?’ And he did play. And he’d just play snippets of these songs. And we’d either give it a thumbs up or thumbs down. And a lot of those songs were and weren’t used in the soundtracks for his sampling he took of young people.”

SV EDITION TWO: DESIGN CURATIONS

Four new curations that are unique to new SV EDITION TWO offer visually striking variations.

Immediately dramatic, the Blue Nebula specification features a matte finish – the color itself inspired by the Northern Atlantic coast, containing a hint of green, finished with a color shifting effect. This is paired with the new Satin Forged Carbon exterior pack, a painted carbon-fiber bonnet and 23-inch forged black alloy wheels – complemented by Blue Nebula brake calipers. Inside, SV Performance Seats are finished in Light Cloud and Ebony Windsor leather.

For the second curation, a Marl Grey Gloss exterior is paired with a Gloss Carbon Twill exterior pack, Exposed Carbon Twill bonnet and 23-inch Carbon Gloss wheels with Sunrise Copper calipers, offered with a Rosewood and Ebony Windsor interior.

Interior Design

Exclusive front SV Performance Seats feature integrated headrests, carbon fiber backboards, an illuminated SV logo, and more sculpted bolsters designed to hold the driver and their front-seat passenger in place during high-performance driving. The 16-way adjustable seats feature massage functionality and are heated and cooled for maximum comfort. Cutting-edge Body and Soul Seat in-car sensory technology is fitted as standard.

Matching rear seats – also heated and cooled – feature a more dynamic design with pronounced side bolsters yet retain powered recline and 60/40 split folding functionality.

Range Rover Sport SV vehicle’s redesigned steering wheel features more pronounced thumb grips, a thicker rim, and exclusive illuminated SV Mode button. A short press puts the vehicle into SV Mode, immediately configuring its suspension, powertrain, steering, transmission, and Active Exhaust for maximum performance. To create this motif, Rolls-Royce craftspeople applied silver lacquer and multiple layers of clearcoat for a seamless finish. The bonnet alone is the product of over 160 hours of design, development, and production.

The bright, yellow colorway extends into the motor car’s interior. A combination of Bespoke Lemon Yellow and Citrine Yellow is used across the seats, Starlight doors, and above the instrument panel. It blends into the contrasting Grace White and Slate Grey hues with Lemon Yellow stitching. The marque’s designers also leveraged the digital Bespoke potential offered by the SPIRIT operating system by complementing the dials to the motor car’s yellow colorway.

Spectre Semaphore maximizes the interior suite’s contemporary design with a clean, high-polish Bespoke painted wood set. Colored to match the grey material accents, the Cashmere Grey paint is infused with silver mica flakes, which creates a vivacious sparkle under direct light.

Only one Rolls-Royce Spectre Semaphore will be built. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars will present the commission on 16 August at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week 2024.
