OAKLEY – MAX FEARLIGHT

Oakley, as the brand, unveils an updated brand aesthetic and creative point of view with the launch of Future Genesis. It all begins with two short films that transport viewers back into the world first created in Oakley’s original 1992 film, Max Fearlight, before introducing the brand’s new protagonist.  

With the launch of Future Genesis, Oakley is drawing from the principles of yesterday to write the next chapter with a better tomorrow in mind. This foundational change will trigger an updated brand aesthetic and creative point of view that will inform both its storytelling and iconic product innovations personified by Maxine Fearlight, the newest protagonist for Oakley. 

The two short films showcase the interconnectedness between past and future while leaning into the brand’s protopian position, while spotlighting a father and a daughter.  The father – Max Fearlight – represents the past and he is taken on a journey of transformation through the introduction of the newest protagonist for the brand, the daughter – Maxine Fearlight. Maxine is set on creating her own legacy and represents the dream of a protopian future for the brand.

Products featured within the short films also serve a greater purpose. Max is seen wearing Medusa, a legacy product reimagined as a digital concept to fit his pursuits in a virtual world. The digital world also informs the real, with the 13:11 sunglasses inspired by those Maxine wears in the trailers, becoming a reality and launching in 2024.

These short films are just the beginning as more are dropping in the coming years to mark the brand’s 50th Anniversary.

The Little Car Company, manufacturers of the limited edition 75% scale Ferrari Testa Rossa J, has unveiled its all-new display at Harrods, one of the world’s foremost luxury department stores. In partnership with Harrods, The Little Car Company has created an immersive display of the Ferrari Testa Rossa J, offering shoppers the unique opportunity to see the car up close.

Situated in the Technology Hall on the fifth floor of Harrods, the display installation presents the Testa Rossa J at its best. The car is displayed on an angled plinth to offer a dynamic view of the scaled, electrified classic. Exhibited in a special historic livery of Blu Nart and Bianco Cervino, the Testa Rossa J features the quintessential Ferrari Rosso Corsa red exterior and is complemented by an elegant Beige Tradizione leather and tone-on-tone stitched interior.  

Customers also have the opportunity to sample the extensive customisation possibilities that come with owning a Ferrari Testa Rossa J. Behind the display is an immersive sample pod, which allows customers to view a selection of leathers and paints, offering a glimpse of the array of potential colour schemes and combinations available.  

Built in partnership with Ferrari Classiche, only 299 Ferrari Testa Rossa Js will ever be built, and each example will be developed and handcrafted using the original drawings held by the team at Maranello. 

A celebration of one of motorsport’s most iconic racers, the Ferrari Testa Rossa J is the result of extensive research and design, notably into the glorious liveries that adorned the 250 Testa Rossa throughout its racing history. This research has fed into the personalisation process that comes with owning a Testa Rossa J, with 14 historic liveries, 53 bodywork colours and a range of racing liveries all available to choose from.

The collaboration between The Little Car Company and Ferrari has enabled a faithful and accurate reimagining of one of motorsport’s most legendary cars. The body of the Testa Rossa J, made of hand-formed aluminium, goes through the exact same process as the original, while the steering and suspension geometry have both been painstakingly replicated. The steering wheel itself is supplied by Nardi, makers of the original steering wheel.

Delicate additions also provide a slice of modernity to the Testa Rossa J, with pedals taken from the F8 Tributo, and Pirelli tyres fitted on the handmade 12-inch wire wheels. In the cockpit, repurposed instruments adorn the dash, with battery temperature and charge level dials providing important driving information, while a delightfully designed Manettino, inspired by the Ferrari 812 Superfast, enables the driver to select from a range of driving modes.

Four driving modes are available, catering for drives of all ages and abilities: 

  • Novice mode: 1kW / 24km/h
  • Comfort mode: 4kW / 40km/h
  • Sport mode: 10kW / 80km/h
  • Race mode: 12kW / 80km/h

Three batteries, all located at the front of the car, power the electric engine and provide approximately 90km of range, depending on driving style.

What: Contemporary abstract artist Melissa Herrington will be back in Miami for SCOPE this year with her Los-Angeles based gallery, M HERRINGTON GALLERY. The gallery returns to Scope Miami Beach 2023 with a collection of new national and international artists.

During the show, Herrington will exhibit eight new abstract paintings in her series, “At the Cusp of Midnight and Color.” These recent works blur the lines between mediums, forms, and concept. She is known for investigating the ever-changing nature of the female form through abstraction.

Additional artists that will be featured are Kristen HartAngela and Gabriel CollazoBrett Loving, and Chrys Roboras. SCOPE attendees can visit booth D27 to view the works.

The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach – My Home

What: Twenty years after its opening, The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach is welcoming Morris Lapidus My Home, an exhibition of artwork and furniture by famed architect Morris Lapidus to be displayed at the hotel during Art Basel|Miami Beach, Miami Art Week and Design Miami 2023. Considered a masterpiece of his signature MiMo style, the historic property was designed by Lapidus and originally opened 70 years ago as the DiLido Hotel in 1953. The hotel is celebrating the two anniversaries by honoring and exploring the creative genius who transformed the cityscape of Miami Beach.

For the first time, The Bass will lend art objects and furniture pieces from Lapidus’ home to the Ritz-Carlton, South Beach. Among the objets d’art included in the exhibit at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach are Lapidus’ glass dining room table; a coffee table he carved in the form of a Roman sculpture he discovered during his school days in front of the Plaza Hotel in New York City; six porcelain masks he modeled from clay in 1929, mounted on gold frames; light fixtures including a 20th century chandelier he crafted to create the illusion of height in his dining room as well as a sparkling effect with cascading crystals and palm leaves that allow light to create designs on the ceiling; personal paintings; and more.

What: The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour, Miami presents Our Legacy by Israeli – born artist Ronen Azulay. The exhibition presents a deep and personal tapestry of Ronen’s family history, showing traces of the origins of a union that transcended tribal boundaries, a testament to love’s power to bridge divides. As Ronen examined his family lineage, he discovered an ever-changing world – one marked by escalating intra-Jewish tensions that necessitated the concealment of our roots, particularly the precious North African heritage. This body of work comes from profound self-discovery. The mosaics are painstakingly assembled from cherished recycled fabrics and scraps of leather, generously bestowed upon Ronen by his community.  In this pivotal moment, we are entrusted with shaping future generations. How will history judge our behavior, our actions. Our Legacy.

Ronen Azulay is an Israeli-born artist, living and working in New York City. Informed by his early career as a men’s fashion designer, his practice examines the role of the consumer in our world of mass production. Using repurposed cast-off denim, leather, and textiles, Azulay’s work actively disrupts the relentless cycle of manufacturing and consumption. With his technical skills and informed eye, Ronen further processes and transforms the materials and incorporates found objects to create a new vernacular in his work.

Happy99 Introduces 90s Gaming & Anime to Reebok’s Iconic Instapump Fury 95 Sneaker, December 15

In 2018, designers Nathalie Nguyen and Dominic Lopez posted a picture of a virtual sneaker concept on Instagram under the brand “Happy99”. Soon after, a number of stylists reached out, looking to acquire the shoes for their celebrity clientele. Just over a year later, what started as a digital “passion project between two long-distance artists and designers” is making headway in a new reality of footwear and apparel. 

“When we first started “H99”, we originally used the page to showcase our own 3D shoe concepts, so finally being able to make our first shoe is really full circle for us,” said Happy99 Co-Founder, Dominic Lopez.

Presented in two distinct colorways – Purple/Midnight/Earth (100073105) and Boulder Grey/Mint (100073106) – the Happy99 x Reebok Instapump Fury leverages a diverse blend of fabrics, bold color pops, and earth tones to draw inspiration from ‘90s video games and anime. Additional design elements include a translucent Pump button and bladder, a Cordura/suede/synethetic mixed material upper, graphic nylon and ripstop gaiter, custom graphic sockliner, an OG Fury carbon footplate, and branding nods throughout. 

“We love the icon-ism of Fury in general, from its popularity in cult classic moments to its anime collabs and fun cameos,” continued Lopez. “From a design perspective, the silhouette’s sharpness combined with the bubbly facade of the Pump bladder is such a cool juxtaposition. And the option to cover with the gaiter gives it some height and a nice added layer of texture.”

“We’re big fans of doll culture and often make miniature clothes and shoes for dolls to shoot for promo,” concluded Happy99 Co-Founder, Nathalie Nguyen. “Usually we work with 1/3 and 1/6 scale dolls but for this project we decided to 3D print a life-sized doll (1/1 scale), to shoot it in the wild in our neighborhood -Chinatown, NYC.”

Pirelli – Dow Jones World

Pirelli has been confirmed on the Dow Jones World and Europe Sustainability Indexes following the annual review of the indices conducted by S&P Global.

The confirmation follows the announcement in November that Pirelli had obtained the highest scores in the Auto Components and Automotive sectors as part of the S&P Global 2023 Corporate Sustainability Assessment. Pirelli obtained the maximum score in a variety of areas, including Business Ethics, innovation, attention to human rights, health and safety, management of climate change.

Top scores were also achieved in the reduction of CO2 emissions, attention to the supplier codes of conduct, management of biodiversity, environmental and product sustainability, and cyber security. These results led to Pirelli obtaining a total score of 83 points, the highest of the Auto Components and Automotive sectors at the global level, significantly higher than the average of 26 points in the auto components sector and 33 in the Automotive sector.

Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice Chairman of Pirelli, commented: “The confirmation of Pirelli on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes is both an acknowledgement and a push to set ever more challenging sustainability goals. Companies have a very important role in the current complex international framework, to favor a sustainable transition in both economic and social terms”.

Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes of S&P Global are among the most important stock market indexes in terms of sustainability at the world level. The annual analysis covers 62 business sectors and is extended to more than 13,000 companies.

“IDGAF” is the latest music from Toosii since dropping his previous single “Suffice” and his debut album NAUJOUR in June. The 19-track release included the 21 Savage-assisted “Pull Up” and the 3x platinum-certified “Favorite Song,” which reached No. 1 at Rhythm & Urban radio and top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart after the arrival of remixes featuring Khalid and Future. Additionally, the track was nominated for an MTV VMA for Best R&B Song, Billboard Music Award for Top Rap Song, and two Soul Train Awards for Song Of The Year & The Ashford And Simpson Songwriter’s Award.

“Favorite Song” also currently features in Boost Mobile’s Get After It fall campaign.
