CHASE PRIDE FESTIVAL

Thousands of people are expected to flock to the first ever Chase Pride festival next month for a star-studded day of celebration and entertainment.

Around 4,000 people are expected at Hednesford Park on Saturday, September 3, for the event which will celebrate diversity, support the local LGBTQ+ community and break down barriers.

Festival director Kathryn Downs said more than a thousand tickets had already been sold for the event, which promises a packed day of entertainment and activities for all, including a rainbow-clad parade.

Headline artists include RuPaul’s Drag Race star Cheryl Hole, award-winning cabaret artist Danny Beard and reality star Woody Cook.

Appearing alongside them will be the likes of George Windsor and Amrick Channa, both former X factor contestants, Georgia Bray, who wowed judges on The Voice, local singers Rox C and Ruby J and many others.

There will also be performances from local groups including Crystal Dance Academy and Brownhills Musical Theatre Company.

Kathryn said: “There will be two stages – the main stage and the community stage – and there is a packed line-up of brilliant entertainment for everyone.

“There will also be around 40 stalls featuring traders, community services and many more. One of the highlights will definitely be the parade. There will be lots of bright costumes, music, dancing and, of course, banners and whistles. We have around 200 people taking part including sponsors One Stop Stores, Glamazon, local schools, local businesses, police cadets and Scouts. It will be fantastic.

“Back in the park we will also have the Paws of Pride fun dog show organized by the Hall Green Greyhound Trust. We’re expecting to see lots of pampered pooches on their best behavior!”

The event runs from 11 am until 8 pm and there will also be fun fair, food and a licensed bar. Kathryn added that there would be a couple of ‘fringe’ events going on as well, with the Friends of Hednesford Park arranging children’s entertainment with Magical Mayhem and the Museum of Cannock Chase hosting an exhibition called LGBTQ Voices, by Walsall artist Kathy O’Connor. There will also be a screening of the Greatest Showman in the park the previous night, September 2, but this is already sold out.

Kathryn said: “We are delighted with the amount of support we are getting. Our main sponsors are McArthurGlen Designer Outlet West Midlands and One Stop Stores who are both sponsoring stages.

“We have received two grants, one from the National Lottery Community Fund, and one from the Arnold Clark Community Fund.

“We have had lots of other support including free services and we are hugely grateful to organisations like Aggreko and HSS for their support.”

David Jackson, centre manager at the McArthurGlen outlet said: “We are proud to support Cannock’s first Pride festival which forms an integral part of the local community.  As champions of diversity and inclusivity, we are looking forward to seeing everyone come together to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and enjoy a lively day of entertainment.”

The event was initially due to be held in 2020 but Covid saw it canceled. Last year there was too much uncertainty, so it was rescheduled for 2022. “It’s taken a lot of hard work, but we have a strong, dedicated committee at Chase Pride and a host of volunteers who have all worked really hard to make it a reality,” said Kathryn, a former town councilor.

“We have come across some opposition, mainly those who misunderstand what it is we’re trying to do. Some people think it’s funded by the council and say there are better things for money to be spent on, but that’s not the case. There is a lot of unconscious bias out there.

“There have been three complaints and a few social media comments from people who think that we are exposing families and children to a sexualized environment. But nothing could be further from the truth. This is a fun family event for everyone.

“Those complaints are a very small minority compared to all the tickets sold so far and the support we have received. The number of people who are not from the LGBTQ+ community who have bought tickets is very heartwarming; allyship is as important to change hearts and minds locally as the LGBTQ+ community being visible.

“We just want to spread the benefit of Pride. We have a large LGBTQ+ community in the area, but there aren’t many safe spaces where people can be themselves and socialise without fear. Cannock Chase isn’t traditionally the easiest community for people to come out in, there is still a lot of prejudice to overcome.

“We started Chase Pride to tackle that and to create a sense of community and a network where people can feel safe to be themselves.

“Since starting up, we have had messages from members of the LGBTQ+ community who feel lonely and isolated living in the area; they may not be able to be themselves or ‘out’ at home, but we have given them a way to connect with like-minded people and feel part of the community.”

Kathryn said Chase Pride is planned for be an annual event, moving around the district. Next year it is scheduled to take place in Rugeley and the year after in Cannock.

“Local businesses across the district have been fantastic in supporting us, including Gregory Bryant in Rugeley, who have raised over £300 alone, along with other independent businesses in Hednesford, Cannock and Rugeley, who have been selling rainbow laces for us to raise funds.

“We are seeing that goodwill spreading to other areas now too,” she added. “We are already having a positive effect and we want to grow that even further.”

ENCHANTE BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Once a 6,000-square-foot vacant lot for over 17 years at 1 Main Street in Los Altos, California, stands the illustrious newly opened Enchante Boutique Hotel. Real estate mogul, visionary, and long-time loyal resident of the Silicon Valley area, Abby Ahrens, owner of The Abigail Co., is the mastermind behind this exotic Parisian-inspired Old-World property (many of the furnishings are from her personal collection). This marks her first hotel (12,000-square-foot and three-story) venture which costs approximately $7,000,000 to build.

A total of 19 individually romantically designed and decorated rooms (complete with plush monogrammed robes and spacious showers), each adorned with rustic yet modern pieces and re-polished antiques. Other amenities include pet-friendly rooms (depending on size and breed come with canine motifs and custom-made dog beds), a library, and a charming bistro sprinkled with limestone, 200-year-old timbers, and a cozy fireplace that sits on ground level with street dining access – a Parisian-style plaza lit by gas lamps. Several gourmet bites (cheese platters, flat bread, etc.) which pay homage to France are offered alongside of craft beers and extremely potent red wines. Denver and sauteed vegetable omelets, french toast, and bagels are offered during breakfast hours alongside of fresh fruit, orange juice, and coffee.

The overall staff is both warm and inviting with a European-style of service. Their intimate understanding of the hotel’s community and level of expected service is refreshing. Constantly at your beck and call (like a concierge) for whatever you may need yet pleasant enough to engage in lengthy conversations, creating deeply rooted relationships between themselves and guests.

In years to come, it’s quite apparent Enchante Boutique will become the hub of downtown Los Altos – it’s the only hotel in its surrounding area and is within walking distance of other attractions, bars, and restaurants. In addition, this newly created romantic landmark is only four miles from Google HQ.

NETFLIX REVEALS WEDNESDAY

The streaming platform reveals the image of Tim Burton’s Addams Family members in ‘Wednesday’.

Fans of Tim Burton and the Addams Family are overwhelmed with excitement. The new Netflix series entitled Wednesday, directed in its first four episodes by the renowned director who has signed films such as Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands, who will also be in charge of the executive production of all the fiction, will be launched on the streaming video platform next fall. The first details about its format are already known.

For now, Netflix has released the first images of the actors who, with Jenna Ortega in the lead in the role of the dreadful Wednesday, make up the cast of this spin-off.

In a first picture made public of the entire Addams family — The streaming platform already released a teaser presenting its main protagonist alone last month of June — and in others collected by Vanity Fair magazine, fans have been able to find out what Morticia‘s characters will look like, represented by Cahterin Zeta-Jone herself; Pugsley, Wednesday‘s brother who is played on this occasion by Isaac Ordonez and lastly, Gomez, who actor Luis Guzmán will play.

Collen Atwood, in charge of wardrobe

Tim Burton’s trusted costume designer and winner of four Academy Awards for Memoirs of a Gheisha, Chicago, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Alice in Wonderland will dress the Addams Family. Netflix has allowed us to see the result of Collen Atwood’s work in her trailer.

Atwood, staying true to the vignettes of the Addams family that were published in The New Yorker, has designed for Morticia, the matriarch of the clan, a very tight black dress with a pleat at the hip and flared sleeves that give the necessary empowerment to his character so that it makes her shine.

Wednesday, the great protagonist, will also appear with a reinterpretation of the classic buttoned dress with a collar and shirt sleeves that she has already worn in many other previous Addams family audiovisual productions.

In this case, Atwood wanted to design a much longer garment for her and had it combined with thick black stockings and black patent leather shoes. This is the color of Wednesday, and she couldn’t give it up.

Finally, the male clothing designs are also elegant, sober, and with the somber touch, that fiction requires. Pugsley will wear Dr. Martens-style boots, shorts, and a sweater with horizontal stripes that help achieve the effect of a somewhat innocent boy.

The Clement Palo Alto all-inclusive hotel review by Vaughn Lowery for 360 MAGAZINE

Clement Hotel Palo Alto

A Personalized Luxury Accommodation in a Contemporary Atmosphere.

Choosing the right hotel may be a daunting undertaking, but once you’ve selected the right one, it’s usually a repeat. Clement Hotel is a repeat; we learned that one overseas family has been occupying two rooms for nearly 3 months. Opened since March 2016, Palo Alto hosts a six-star hospitality experience with one of the most advanced, and unique luxury all-inclusive establishments in Northern America. This pristine property is situated in Silicon Valley, just 30 minutes south of San Francisco and 20 minutes north of San Jose; the perfect location to avoid the hectic city life and dull suburbia.

The Clement Hotel follows a concept that is unprecedented, truly a one-of-a-kind. It’s secret? They just pay really close attention to each of their clients. Upon check-in, every client receives a personal concierge. Your concierge functions as an assistant, who facilitates your stay by supplying every need. Ours even assisted with providing a very specific, yet, makeshift listing of events, bars and restaurants within the San Francisco area, that played top 40 hip-hop. Prior to arrival, patrons complete an email survey with dietary restrictions, special needs, requests and preferred cuisines. The client relations representative is a “genie in a bottle,” that makes its customer’s wishes come true.

Always armed with a WiFi connected tablet, they can answer any queries or concerns about virtually any pressing issue that surfaces in any area of the property. And, if you’ve seemingly lost them, don’t fret because they’re strapped with an in-house networked iPhone with an extension so they’re reachable via text or call throughout the campus.

Once inside the rooms, the Clement Hotel showcases exquisite quality and embellishments. There are 23 stylish king suites available throughout 4 floors and all of which are well-equipped with cell phone chargers, international electricity outlets and floor to ceiling windows. The 650 sq. ft., single-bedroom offers modern and sophisticated comfort, providing an intuitive layout with an array of carefully curated amenities to enhance the guest’s stay. State-of-the-art technology is combined with comfort of the highest standard, such as luxurious Frette linens, 65-inch Samsung Smart TVs, Nespresso Vertuoline coffee machines, powered blinds and fully stocked in-room refrigerators. The bathrooms are lavish, containing a small screen TV concealed inside the mirror and a heated seat Toto toilet/bidet equipped with an infrared remote control. The glass stall showers are tourist, celebrity and business traveler ready, installed with rain head or massage handles. Or, enjoy a relaxing bath in its deep-soak tub with salts provided. Another meticulous detail that adds flair to this space, are the heated floors with wall thermostat control.

After a night on the town at San Francisco’s “Love + Propaganda” 360 Magazine enjoyed a toasted sesame bagel with salami, pepperoni and thinly sliced meat alongside of microwaved Brie cheese at 3AM in the 24-hour kitchen pantry. A fully stocked 6-foot display case refrigerates bottled refreshments alongside of an extensive variety of yogurts and Tin Pot, a local handcrafted ice cream prepared with organic ingredients. Not to mention, various granola bars, fruit and pre-wrapped goodies were sprinkled throughout. Other all-inclusive service and amenities include: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks; all non/alcoholic drinks, inroom banqueting, minibar, business center, valet parking, twice-daily housekeeping services, overnight shoe shine services, high-speed internet, personal experience specialist and gratuities. Not to mention, an open bar service available anywhere in the hotel. This convenience-styled hotel is hosted by a very attentive and sympathetic staff that makes sure visitors feel at home at every moment. After all, business is all about relationships, and traveling alone after-awhile can be lonely. But, Clement actually makes lonely travels preferable, the entire staff is accessible, extremely professional and charismatic – our newest friends!

Guest’s visitors are also permitted to luxuriate in all that The Clement Hotel has to offer. An exclusive chef presides over “The Kitchen” area, which holds many of your tasteful dishes. In fact, one afternoon, former resident chef, Phillip Pagan, prepared appetizers (homemade potato chips) with built-in deep fryer at the island (adjacent to dining/living area), where the team freely reminisced about our recent travels and the gorgeous Jaguar F-Pace First Edition, which was our means of transportation.

Business drop-ins have access to secure private rooms that are well equipped for teleconferencing. They are ideal for receptions, private meals and activities. All attendees have complete access to all the above mentioned amenities and valet parking. In fact, most vehicles are kept underneath the property in a lower level garage, which is only accessible to staff.

Hot Wheels unveiled images of the 1:64-scale version of the highly-anticipated DeLorean Alpha5 – the all-new EV that represents the future of the DeLorean Motor Company – which will officially be shown to the world for the first time on the awards ramp at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 18.

The Hot Wheels version of the Alpha5 offers a first look at the new DeLorean in three dimensions. Until now, the DeLorean has only been shown as digital renderings. The physical unveiling of the Alpha5 die-cast will take place alongside the life-sized car at a special event during Monterey Car Week. The Hot Wheels Alpha5 will be uncovered by Roberto Stanichi, SVP, Hot Wheels & Global Head of Vehicles at Mattel Inc., and Ted Wu, VP, Global Head of Design for Vehicles at Mattel Inc.

“Like Hot Wheels, the DeLorean name instantly engages the imaginations of car and pop culture fans,” said Stanichi. “We are proud to be a part of this next chapter of the DeLorean Motor Company, with a partnership that we believe will only expand.”

The Hot Wheels design team has been working with DeLorean for four months to develop the 1:64-scale version of DeLorean’s new interpretation of a modern icon.

“The Hot Wheels design team worked closely with DeLorean to recreate the Alpha5 as a die-cast car, carefully depicting its proportions to showcase its true lines as a Hot Wheels, while maintaining the design language that was perfectly executed by Italdesign,” said Wu. “We are excited to share this special car with fans all over the world.”

Fans can pre-order the DeLorean Alpha5 die-cast car starting on August 18 at 10:30 AM PST.

8 Tips to Declutter Your Home and Life for the Best Autumn Yet

Fall is always an exciting time filled with trips to apple orchards, afternoons spent at pumpkin patches, Friendsgiving dinners, and… decluttering! And I don’t just mean putting your surfboards in storage and finally ridding all kitchen countertops of scattered mail — I mean giving your home and lifestyle a whole fall refresh! Decluttering both your living space and life could be key for ensuring you have the best autumn yet.

In my experience as the Professional Organizer and Brand Ambassador of  Modular Closets  (DIY customizable closet units that organize any space in your home), I have discovered a number of helpful decluttering tips. Here are 8 of these tried-and-true strategies I wanted to share:

1. Organize a grab-and-go station for autumn essentials.

Isn’t it the worst when you are trying to leave for an outing and can’t find your keys, cellphone, or other essentials? Don’t let missing items put a damper on your fall festivities! Organize a bin by the front door or in the garage that contains autumn essentials like beanies, gloves, scarves, windbreakers, chapstick, and hand creams for your purse (the chillier weather can really dry out your skin!) so you are always ready for any fun fall plans. Whether you are planning to spend an afternoon apple picking or you want to wander through gorgeous fall foliage, you will be prepared for any outing.

2. Write down 5 things you want to do this autumn.

From camping excursions to costume parties and fall food festivals, it seems like once autumn hits there is almost TOO much you want to do. So declutter your plans by organizing a fall bucket list! By taking pen to paper and consciously thinking of what you want to experience this season, you will truly be able to make your autumn dreams a reality. Then, once you write down the top 5 must-do’s, schedule each of them into your calendar. This will ensure you accomplish the bucket-list items and allow you to plan other activities around them.

3. Declutter last fall’s essentials.

Garages and sheds tend to fill up with clutter from all the autumns beforehand. Spend a day decluttering broken Halloween decorations, chipped Thanksgiving dinnerware, broken baskets for apple picking, and costumes you no longer wear so that you will be able to replace ones that need to be replaced right away. Trust me, the last thing you would want is to start getting ready for a costume party and realize all of your costumes in storage are stained or have holes in them. By decluttering any items you no longer need, you make space for all your new autumn essentials which also frees energy for new memories.

4.) Deep clean the windows.

Do you love gazing out your windows at the changing leaves? Deep cleaning the windows needs to be a must on your autumn organizing to-do list, as it will help you enjoy the lovely fall days to the fullest! If your windows are covered in grime and streaks from the rainy spring and dry summer months, take an hour or two to spray all of them with a cleaning solution and wipe them until they sparkle! You will smile every time you look through them and notice how clear and clean they are.

5.) Write down your home organizing goals.

Although autumn is typically filled with fun get-togethers with friends and family, Oktoberfest festivities, and other events, the season is a great time to accomplish your home organizing goals. Have you been meaning to paint one or more of your rooms a new color? Do you really want to clean every single carpet and rug in your living space? Commit to one home organizing project you have wanted to do this year, and allow yourself the fall to accomplish it. I highly recommend scheduling the project into your calendar so that there are plans set in stone to get it done!

6.) Organize a travel station in your car.

Autumn is filled with family gatherings, adventure, tips to pumpkin patches, and travel, so it is paramount to have your car organized. First, do a deep clean. Yes, that means vacuuming under the seats and picking up all the stale Cheerios all over the floor. Once the car is deep cleaned, organize an autumn station that you keep in the trunk. Some ideas of things to include are hats, scarves, wipes to clean hands after apple picking, and extra sweaters. Preparation is key!

7.) Organize your fall clothes.

Out with summer and in with fall! Spend an afternoon decluttering any autumn clothes that you no longer love wearing or that don’t fit, and organize your closet so all your fall clothes are front and center. Hang up your favorite sweaters, put your glove and beanie sets together, clean and fold all of your pants and leggings, and clean your boots so they are ready for all of the fall festivities!

8.) Organize your garden tools.

Autumn means beautiful falling leaves! If your garden tools have been buried in the garage or shed all year round, this is the time to declutter any rusty or broken rakes and possibly purchase a new one. The last thing you want is to get ready to clean up piles of leaves and realize the handle on your rake broke while in storage!

To Wrap It All Up

Now that fall is here, make it a priority to declutter both your living space and lifestyle so that the season is nothing short of marvelous. Several ways to do this include organizing a grab-and-go station for autumn essentials and writing a bucket list of 5 must-do fall plans. Also, declutter last season’s essentials, deep clean the windows, and organize a travel station in your car. These are just a few ways to help ensure you have the best autumn yet!
