Bendigo Fletcher – Pterodactyl

Ahead of their appearance at this weekend’s Newport Folk Festival, Louisville, KY’s Bendigo Fletcher have unveiled their brand new single “Pterodactyl.” The song is available to stream and download beginning today via Elektra Records HERE.

On “Pterodactyl,” the critically acclaimed quintet continue to perfect their warm patchwork of alternative, Americana, psychedelia, and soul. Working out of Nashville, TN’s Cartoon Moon Studios, the band reunited with producer and original Wilco/Uncle Tupelo drummer Ken Coomer. Meanwhile, they recruited Grizzly Bear bassist Chris Taylor to mix the track. Lyrically, “Pterodactyl” draws up a pensive and poetic rumination on the future of a budding romance and the ripple effect one love often invites.

About the song, frontman Ryan Anderson commented, “‘Pterodactyl’ was a kind of self-soothing progression that gradually bloomed with instrumentation and textures in the studio. The repetitive rhythm feels like walking to the park in my neighborhood and just trying to feel peace. Ultimately, itߣs a reflection on the inspiration I take from the feeling of togetherness in both my relationship and in humanity in general.

“Pterodactyl” marks Bendigo Fletcher’s first new music since the release of their 2021 debut album Fits Of Laughter. Highlighted by singles “Sugar In The Creek” and “Evergreen,” the eight-track collection is available HERE via Elektra Records. Beyond amassing millions of streams, the album earned widespread critical acclaim. FLOOD Magazine hailed it as “Somewhere between the post-Woodstock folk scene of the ߢ70s and that decade’s burgeoning hard rock movement, and Music Connection dubbed it, “Alt-rock, country-flecked folk-rock soaked in LSD,” American Songwriter noted it as “Denser psych-rock with some remaining elements of Bendigo Fletcher’s drifting folk-Americana roots,” and Atwood Magazine praised “Fits Of Laughter soars with charming passion.

Renowned for their inimitable live performances, Bendigo Fletcher supported the release of Fits Of Laughter with extensive headline runs and tours supporting Anderson East, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and Shakey Graves. This Sunday, Bendigo Fletcher will perform at Newport Folk Festival 2022. Shortly after, they will support Madison Cunningham on a coast-to-coast North American tour, beginning August 4 in Minneapolis, MN at Fine Line Music Cafe and visiting major markets across U.S. and Canada before concluding on October 22 in Washington, DC at Capital Turnaround. A complete list of upcoming tour dates can be found below. Tickets are available now HERE.

TRIUMPH OF ROSALIA IN MADRID

Rosalía surrenders and triumphs with the M of Madrid and Motomami in her two shows full of hits.

The Catalan singer offered two wild and innovative pop shows at the WiZink Center before an ecstatic audience. We couldn’t wait to hear Rosalía sing in concert. And finally, this Tuesday, July 19, and Wednesday, July 20, we saw the creator of Motomami gather her fans in Madrid.

On Tuesday, she appeared in a total red look with an unstructured board skirt, bullfighter leather jacket, bodysuit, extra-long braids, and high boots. The Spanish singer appeared under her iconic helmet. On Wednesday, she acted with the same look but in a different color by using black and nude yellow for the second time.

Just a few minutes after 9:30 p.m., the first reflections of the helmets of the Motomami universe appeared behind the stage. It sounded like “Chica, que dices?!” with the motorcycles roaring. The singer began the show with Saoko‘s unbeatable song, which is a shot of energy to start both concerts on top.

She continued to sing hits, one after another. CandyLa Fama, and Bizcochito were played in the first part of the two concerts, some of the greatest hits of her latest work.

With all the eclecticism, all the avant-garde, and all the groundbreaking elements of her disco, she knew how to transfer to the stage without great artifice, thus creating a historical show. Not only did we get a chance to listen to this new kind of music style, but we also got to feel the organic vein of hers settling into her setlist. Thus, we heard how Dolerme interpreted with no more elements than his voice and guitar.

In the way that her most recent album is a tribute to all the music that the artist likes, Rosalía scored a fun medley with mythical Latin songs: Gasolina by Daddy Yankee and Papi Chulo by Lorna. She also included them in her two performances, the Blinding Lights remix with her friend The Weeknd.

As we have already been observing in other tour’s concerts, the composer wanted to premiere new songs live: Despechá, Libertad, Dinero, or Aislamiento.

Motomami is an album that mixes flamenco, reggaeton, bolero, some jazz, and rap, perfect for you to listen to live.

Atlantis: How Plato’s Allegory Became a Cultural Phenomenon

When Plato created the island of Atlantis as a minor philosophical allegory back in 360 BC, he could never have imagined the impact it would have on modern culture 2000 years later.

Real or fantasy?

In the 19th century, some scholars suggested there may be some historical relevance to Plato’s story. The suggestion was that the story was inspired by real events, that were appropriated by the philosopher. As research continued, the myth of the lost city gained momentum and the search for the real Atlantis began. This also inspired tales of other lost civilizations that influenced many forms of contemporary fiction, from TV shows and films to comic books and video games.

The written word

There have been countless works of fiction based on Atlantis, including Pierre Benoit’s 1919 novel L’Atlantide, Frederick Tennyson’s Atlantis (1888), Mona, Queen of Lost Atlantis: An Idyllic Re-Embodiment of Long Forgotten History (1925) by James Logue Dryden, and George V. Golokhvastoff’s The Fall of Atlantis (1938). All of these works give their own interpretations of the rise and fall of the kingdom.

The digital age

In popular culture, Atlantis has appeared in over 30 video games including the successful Atlantis video game series, which featured five titles between 1997 and 2006. In the iGaming sector, slot game players can also enjoy a range of slot titles inspired by Atlantis. The most notable is Atlantean Treasures, which features an underwater setting and offers four progressive jackpot prizes. New players looking to play this Atlantis-themed slot can get free spins by visiting BonusFinder, a company that helps find the best offer and promotions. Other titles include Atlantis from Red Tiger Gaming and Secret of Atlantis from NetEnt.

Atlantis on film

In the 1970s, NBC released the fantasy series Man from Atlantis. It only ran for 13 episodes but remains something of a cult classic. The show followed the story of Mark Harris (played by Patrick Duffy), an amnesiac man thought to be the last citizen of Atlantis. In 2016, Duffy wrote a novel telling the back story of Mark Harris, revealing information not included in the TV show.

There have been more than 20 movies featuring Atlantis. The earliest was Undersea Kingdom (1936), which was similar in tone to Universal’s popular Flash Gordon series released the same year. The most recent release and perhaps the biggest Atlantis film of all time was James Wan’s Aquaman (2018), which forms part of the DC Comics universe. Jason Momoa stars as Arthur Curry (AKA Aquaman), who fights back against a plan by the seven underwater kingdoms to attack the surface world.

The search continues

Atlantis has been extensively covered in the documentary world as well. The latest effort is A Passage to Atlantis from filmmaker Paul Banseelal, due for release in 2023. The three-part series sets out to explore truths and correct misconceptions about the legends of Atlantis. It represents the director’s 27 years of research into the history and location of the lost city. Originally planned as a traditional documentary, the series is set to take on more of an adventure mystery tone.

After sparking imaginations for 2000 years, the search for the truth about the lost city of Atlantis looks set to continue.

Reneé Rapp knew was born to perform ever since she was a child via 360 MAGAZINE

Reneé Rapp – In the Kitchen

Reneé Rapp returns with her new single “In the Kitchen.” The 22-year-old delivers a poignant piano ballad that highlights her knack for penning devastating lyrics and shows off her towering vocal range. Currently winning over viewers and critics alike with her starring role as “Leighton” in the HBO Max series The Sex Lives of College Girls, this track proves that Rapp has equally developed gifts as a musician.

Listen to “In The Kitchen” (Interscope Records) by Reneé Rapp HERE

On “In the Kitchen,” Rapp hones in on a simple memory from a relationship — to convey how alone she feels. “I walk in the kitchen, my heart hits the floor,” she sings sweetly over gentle chords. “It’s you that I’m missing, just had a vision of us cooking dinner, and you’re holding me from behind.” Co-written by Reneé alongside Monsters & Strangerz (Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5), Tommy Brown (Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Blackpink), and Michael Pollack (Lizzo, Becky G, Justin Bieber), the song draws on personal moments of Reneé’s creating an emotional and raw experience for her listeners almost enduring the pain alongside her as she sings.

“In the Kitchen” is the follow up to Rapp’s major-label debut “Tattoos,” which has already amassed 3 million combined streams and growing. Throughout her career, Rapp has displayed an indelible skill for enthralling audiences with vibrant performances and genuine energy. Outside of music, she stars in the HBO Max series from Mindy Kaling entitled The Sex Lives of College Girls. It’s a role that calls for innate comedic timing and breathtaking dramatic prowess, both of which Rapp has in spades. That emotional rawness also informs “In the Kitchen,” a song that soars and devastates. With a full-length project due soon – Rapp is just getting started.

ABOUT RENEÉ RAPP:

Reneé Rapp knew was born to perform ever since she was a child. Even in her earliest memories, her love of music was always present. “I couldn’t sit still in the car unless there was music,” she says. “Otherwise, I would cry the entire time.” The North Carolina native began harnessing her natural creativity by writing and recording songs when she was just a teenager. Eventually, her career took off when she landed the coveted role of Regina George in the Tony-nominated Mean Girls musical on Broadway. Shortly after, she found widespread recognition and praise—from the likes of W, Harper’s Bazaar, and The Hollywood Report for her performance as “Leighton” on the HBO Max series “The Sex Lives of College Girls” written by Mindy Kaling. Now, more empowered than ever, Rapp turns her attention back to music, where sharing threadbare insecurities on “Tattoos” is just the beginning. “I was called ‘crazy’ a lot growing up because I didn’t know what was going on with me,” she says. “As I got older and started going to therapy, I reclaimed the word in a way that feels good to me.” In this song and in the rest of her music to come Rapp leans into a uniquely bold showcase of vulnerability to connect with her ever-growing fandom. Eager to continue to share her emotions with the world, Reneé has much more music on the way under her recent signing to Interscope Records.

ABOUT INDIA SHAWN

India Shawn is unfiltered and fearless. Listening to the rising R&B singer/songwriter’s music feels less like playing a record and more like catching up with an old friend. She bares all—nothing is off-limits. This vulnerable approach has informed all of the music she’s released over the last few years, but she applies it with a special focus on her new album Before We Go (Deeper). Over 14 songs, she reflects on emotional highs and lows, shares buried secrets, and traces the contours of world-shattering heartbreak. She projects these deeply personal musings through a kaleidoscope of old-school R&B and West Coast cool that is as heady as it is undeniable. Launching her career in famed writing collective Full Circle, Shawn initially made waves in the music industry by penning hits for Chris Brown, Diddy-Dirty Money, El DeBarge, and Keri Hilson. In between performing in Kanye West’s Sunday Service and touring with Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, the rising artist built a loyal — and rapidly growing — following with independent releases such as Origin and Outer Limits, which showcase her soulful and seductive approach. After garnering over 20 million streams and receiving critical acclaim from NPR, Billboard, HYPEBEAST, Noisey, and UPROXX, Shawn is finally ready to share all of herself and empower an even larger audience with her deeply personal anthems. “I’m a voice for women who know their worth and what they want,” she says. “And won’t settle for anything less.”

RM Sotheby’s × FERRARI F300

RM Sotheby’s is thrilled to offer the most successful Ferrari Formula 1 car utilized during the 1998 Formula One World Championship season, piloted to four victories at the hands of one of the world’s greatest drivers, Michael Schumacher.

On 7 January 1998, Ferrari invited over 800 journalists to Maranello to preview its new Formula 1 car, which was dubbed the F300. The latest Ferrari challenger employed a new 3.0-liter V-10 engine and featured a maximum engine speed of 17,500 rpm, producing 800 horsepower. The F300 would see continued development and fine-tuning during the 1998 season. However, there can be absolutely no doubt among racing historians that the design’s efficient aerodynamics and well-balanced V-10 powerplant were the true foundation of the Scuderia’s incoming millennial domination of the Formula One world.

The Ferrari F300, specifically chassis 187, took its first of four stunning race victories at the Canadian Grand Prix at Montreal’s Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve. Schumacher and chassis 187 claimed victory along with the fastest lap with a massive 16-second lead off the runner-up. Schumacher and chassis 187 continued their successful relationship at the next two races, scoring victories in France and Britain. With these three consecutive victories, Scuderia Ferrari vaulted back up in the standings and into serious contention against McLaren-Mercedes for both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ titles. A few weeks after the winning streak, Schumacher scored his 33rd career win behind the wheel of chassis 187 when he crossed the finish line at the Italian Grand Prix.

Eminently rare and forever tied to one of racing’s all-time greatest legends, the extraordinary Michael Schumacher, 187 is without a doubt one of the most significant Ferrari F1 cars in existence, being the only undefeated chassis to run at least three races. The Scuderia retained chassis 187 until September 1999, when it was then sold directly and privately to the previous owner in the same race-used condition in which it remains today, and in their 23 years of ownership, chassis 187 has been remarkably preserved as it has never been restored or altered from its as-raced condition. It remained shielded from the public during this time and will be publicly offered for sale in Monterey for the first time in its history—providing an unrepeatable opportunity (Estimate: $6,000,000 – $8,000,000).
