DJ KHALED – GOD DID

It’s almost THAT time, DJ Khaled has personally revealed the title of his anxiously awaited thirteenth full-length in studio album, GOD DID, coming soon via We The Best Music Group/Epic Records. He immediately set social media on fire with the announcement of the album’s name. The phrase, GOD DID, has become synonymous with Khaled as of late. Fellow superstars such as Lebron James, Kevin Hart, FANLUV and so many more have adopted it as their mantra. It’s a phrase that is about to forever shape the culture and define 2022.

Recently, Khaled has teased the release of new music with a series of posts on social media joined by the likes of Drake, Future, Lil Baby, and more in the studio. He’s stirring up anticipation to a fever pitch and will deliver anthems yet again.

He’s kept very busy throughout 2022. He made headlines with an appearance on stage at the Academy Awards where he opened up the show, and he notably received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Plus, he served as a presenter, twice, at the Billboard Music Awards.

Last year, Khaled unleashed his twelfth full-length album, KHALED KHALED [We The Best Music Group/Epic Records]. It arrived as his third #1 debut on the Billboard Top 200, sixth #1 on the Top Rap Albums Chart, and fourth #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. It also reached platinum status.

Get ready for more from Khaled. Two words say it all, GOD DID.

ABOUT DJ KHALED:

For over two decades, the very mention of DJ Khaled has implied an elevated level of musical greatness, entrepreneurial excellence, and cultural impact. You’ve heard him across a GRAMMY Award-winning multiplatinum catalog, seen him in blockbusters such as Bad Boys For Life, caught him on the cover of Rolling Stone, watched him on numerous television programs, and felt his presence from the streets all the way up to the Barack Obama White House. He has achieved dozens of multiplatinum and gold certifications, including the 9x multi-platinum Billboard Hot 100 #1 I’m The One [feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper & Lil Wayne], 6x multi-platinum Wild Thoughts [feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller], and double-platinum No Brainer [feat. Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper & Quavo]. The latter propelled his 2019 album, Father of Asahd [We The Best Music Group/Epic Records], to the top of the charts. Not only did it garner a platinum certification, but it also became his third consecutive Top 2 debut on the Billboard Top 200 and emerged as the #1 Most-Streamed Record upon release. To date, he has moved over 20 million singles and 6 million albums in addition to gathering 4 billion-plus streams.

Not to mention, he launched We The Best Music Group a record label, management, publishing, and production company and in-demand studio. As a committed philanthropist, he founded his 501(c)3 organization The We The Best Foundation. It uplifts individuals throughout underserved communities across the United States and supports various non-profits. He has supported the fight against COVID-19. U2 frontman Bono recruited him as the first social media ambassador for Project Red, and he serves as the national spokesperson for Get Schooled. Now, the power of this legacy defines his twelfth full-length album which bears his birth name Khaled Khaled [We The Best Music Group/Epic Records], preceded by two chart-busting bangers alongside frequent collaborator Drake, namely POPSTAR and GREECE.

Marlon Wayans Accepts His Daughter for Coming Out via Cision PRWeb for use by 360 MAGAZINE

MARLON WAYANS

Actor-Comedian, Marlon Wayans, shares the ultimate expression of love and voices support for his daughter’s “coming out” experience.

As Pride Month ends, members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community have been shining a light on the stories of hardship, acceptance, and advocacy which have shaped the community into what it is today. Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans weaved his experience into the tapestry of stories in an interview with Dr. James Flowers for the podcast series “Understanding the Human Condition.”

“Acceptance is the greatest love you can have,” Wayans declared. “Nobody should be closeted about their life. Everyone should be able to live their life to the fullest.”

When Dr. Flowers inquired about Wayans’ daughter’s “coming out” experience, Wayans revealed his family’s wide range of reactions. Wayans accepted her with open arms when his daughter came out to him. However, her confession was met with some ambivalence from non-immediate family members. In response to these hesitations, Wayans doubled down on the support for his child.

“It’s your life. As long as you’re smiling, as long as you’re happy, daddy loves you. Love is acceptance,” Wayans said in response to his daughter’s coming out.

Wayans is in full support of loving parenting styles that promote the well-being of children and LGBTQ+ youth to live their life as they wish.

Dr. Flowers applauds Wayans’ response to his daughter and provides some advice for parents struggling with acceptance.

“When your child comes out, it is crucial that you continue to support them. While you may have many questions, be sensible that coming out is very difficult and potentially stressful. There is nothing a parent can do to make their child gay or straight, but you can help them thrive and live their best life.”

Loyle Hate Press Photo

LOYLE CARNER × HATE

London’s dominant lyricist, Loyle Carner, releases his new single “Hate,” a remarkable departure from anything he’s done before and a stunning beacon for everything to come. Stream “Hate” — HERE.

A bold, quantum leap forward from the critically and commercially successful UK Top 3 album, “Not Waving, But Drowning,” this is hardly music aiming simply for the pop charts; instead, it is turbo charged with the kind of fury and potency, confusion, and anxiety that make up the modern experience of being Black and British at this particular point in time. However, this is no mere philosophical exercise; the result is Carner’s most ambitious track. Powered by lush, almost cinematic production, it is a visceral no holds barred essay about lives lived in the cross-hairs of society, fuelled by fear, exhaustion, frustration, and political awakening. It’s a full-bore, high-stakes, facing-up-to-death riposte, as urgent as it is compelling. At its core, Carner is keen to remind us, “I fear the color of my skin/ I fear the color of my kin” – and here he’s driven to document every unsparing detail.

Loyle put it best, “One of the few songs made from a hateful place. I was angry at the world, frightened, and overwhelmed. It’s unfiltered. Really just a stream of consciousness that builds to an understanding that hate is rooted in fear. It reminds me of times the red mist takes over, and how alone you feel when the rest mist passes. Arrogant and self-righteous but at the same time vulnerable and somber. I listen to this one in my car at night. Especially after an argument when you need to get space and take a breath.”

Hate” comes accompanied by a powerful video shot by Carner himself alongside Greg Hackett, which feels like it perfectly distills the message of the track. Watch it HERE.

Of the many voices in music today, Carner’s is among the most vital and exciting, netting him Mercury and Brit Awards nominations and making him one of the most beloved artists on the UK music landscape.

Pit Women Against Men in Supreme Court via Thread MB for use by 360 MAGAZINE

PIT WOMEN VS. MEN

I recently answered a cry by numerous young women on Tiktok calling for abstention from sex with men until a reversal of the Supreme Court’s recent decision on Roe Vs. Wade cometh.  Here is my response

The logic behind pitting women against all men over this decision is both unintelligent and destructive.  The Supreme Court’s reversal doesn’t make men the bad guys so why are we punishing them?  Doing so won’t change that decision in the least.

What it will do is create yet another tragic, unnecessary divide which will only make matters worse for the entire nation, including women.  In strong-arming the court and men, the only thing women will be demonstrating is that the court was correct in its decision because “children shouldn’t be deciding the fate of other children.”

I’m truly sick and tired of how our society continues to lump all men together and cast them in an extremely poor light when it’s convenient to do so.  That is truly unfair, especially when today’s men had nothing to do with what yesterday’s men did, said, or how they conducted themselves.  The sins of the father shouldn’t be bleeding onto their sons as men have evolved in ways we should all be proud of.  But in that, women need to recognize this as opposed to overlooking it.  Because, frankly, if we don’t, we will eliminate all reason and commitment to further growth from them.  To that same point, the tangent so many women are on to change men into beings who they were never meant to be is wrong, egotistical, and a poor reflection on those women and, ultimately, the rest of us women, too.  I resent it.

Neither gender has the right to define what the other gender “should be.”  The sliding scale of ‘masculinity to femininity’ shouldn’t be actively coerced but a reflection of personal choice.  And as advocates of “pro-choice,” you, above any other woman, should understand the importance of this.

Be angry if you so choose, but don’t be the justification for the decision you don’t agree with.  And stop imploding on men.  Because you are shooting yourself in the foot while making yourself look backward in the face of men moving forward.

Night Tales debut album via 360 MAGAZINE

Night Tales – Lovesong

Night Tales Released Official Cover of The Cure’s, “Lovesong,” Ahead of Debut Album on June 24.

After relocating to Los Angeles, the Australian act is ready to bring their internationally acclaimed catalog to iconic venues and festivals throughout the Summer.

Listen HERE.

To sum it up, Night Tales are doing things differently. The enigmatic Aussie duo stormed onto the scene in 2018 behind viral single releases that conveyed their alluring blend of electronica packed with singer-songwriter sensibilities. Pushing an identity of swag & soul in indie dance music, Night Tales is bridging the gap between urban & electronica.

Night Tales is leading a wave of progressive electronic acts that implement real vocals, storytelling and live instruments within a DJ environment. Their acclaim has yet to reach such heights as it did when Night Tales was released an official cover of The Cure’s classic, “Lovesong.”

Quote from Night Tales:

“Throughout the pandemic and especially in Australia, we lived under extreme lockdown measures. Literally confined to our homes with only one hour of exercise a day and allowance to get essential goods. This meant no studio time or the ability to work together in the same space. So I (Aaron) continued to produce ideas and in turn send them to Kamaliza for him to create lyrical & vocal ideas. He sent back this amazing idea and melody, which was an adaptation of iconic British band The Cure and their track, “Lovesong.” Immediately we knew it was special.”

The duo has chosen to invigorate this growing genre space with a vein of synthwave music that blends 80’s nostalgia with modern electronica. In April, the producers released their first 2022 single, “Thinking About You,” which previewed their forthcoming album set for release following a Summer of exploring their new home in America. Last month, single no.2, “Take It Slow,” follows up on the vocal and melody-led dance music that packs the crossover appeal befitting Night Tales’ enormous potential and acclaim thus far.

Spirited production and intrapersonal lyricism mark the first glimpse into the 2022 release calendar for Night Tales. The producers offer high paced production, synths and echoed vocals to present a soundscape that is both emotional and energetic. While Night Tales offer the storytelling and lyrics for widespread accessibility, their roots in electronica provide credence to their ability to connect with both mainstream and festival audiences.

The Night Tales project has been nearly a decade in the making. One half of the duo, Aaron Bannie was born in the U.K. before moving to Ibiza, where he learned how to mix and play on vinyl. He would later relocate to Australia in hopes to elevate his own electronic project, Third Floor. Kamaliza Salamba is an Aussie native, and also had his own career in music prior to Night Tales. He played in various bands, in addition to his own R&B electronic project, Kamaliza.

The two connected via a booking agent, and almost immediately began collaborating on a house-infused, singer-songwriter project. With a production partner in Bannie, Salamba was able to focus more on his skills as a vocalist. Influenced by acts like the Talking Heads, the two dove into more thematic compositions that cover a wide range of music. Salamba writes the vocals and melodies, while Bannie provides his own vocals in addition to running drum and trigger pads.

This arrangement gives them the chance to take all original songs and break them down in a totally different experience and energy. In 2018, the duo struck a 3-single deal with the German label, Majestic Casual. The label has provided a home for innovative acts like Edamame and Two Feet, so it made for a perfect fit for an enigmatic act like Night Tales.

Following the deal, the two went to the studio and quickly wrote a series of singles, including ”Friends.” This first series put onto the display the representation of human emotion and personal relationships. “Friends” would go on to rack up 5.7 million Spotify streams globally. To the delight of the duo, they discovered they already had a listening audience overseas in America and Europe. This lifelong benchmark for success and key to traveling to America came right as the pandemic swiftly took over the globe.

Stuck inside their home studio during the pandemic, the two reacted by doubling down on their creativity by committing to monthly single releases. Fans rewarded their output, as Night Tales’ monthly listeners rose to 300+ monthly and their music placed in several key Spotify Editorial playlists.

Night Tales’ mission is to pioneer urban culture in the alternative electronic music scene. Their hope is to diversify and represent people of color in electronic music – championing acceptance and accessibility.

The producers are lined up for a big Summer in 2022, with upcoming performances at Electric Forest and Breakaway Festival, in addition to their own tour dates in cities like SF, LA, CHI, Denver, Toronto, Detroit, MIA, and NYC. Their forthcoming album is set for release in October.

More from Night Tales:

“The Cure’s original version of ‘Lovesong’ was created and performed within a band structure, so all live instrumentation. Our version sits in our world which is completely electronic. How we made our own version besides the electronic creation was to accompany The Cure’s “Lovesong” lyrics with our own additional & completely original vocals which are; “follow your light, follow it deep inside, open your eyes, rise up to the morning light.

“We are so extremely humbled & excited that Robert Smith and the cure estate gave us their seal of approval of reimagining their timeless classic.”
