Jada Kingdom – New Motion

Emerging as one of the summer’s hottest breakout acts, Jamaican-born singer and songwriter Jada Kingdom serves up her debut EP, New Motion, today via Money Well Spent/Republic Records.

Listen to New Motion HERE.

Jada’s storytelling takes center stage on the EP. For as bright as the island-inflected production may be, her lyrics prove just as bold. She opens up without fear about trauma, triumphs, love, femininity, and everything on her mind in subtle fashion, slipping these truths in between bouncy grooves and head-nodding hooks. As such, she asserts herself as a powerhouse with a microphone and a pen.

About New Motion, she commented, “My new EP New Motion reveals raw, uncut feelings – it expresses my desire to intentionally move forward always regardless of the trials & tribulations I’ve faced. It’s about never forgetting to be true to myself while also having fun and creating a safe space for people who are going through similar situations“

She paved the way for the project with “Last Night.” UPROXX touted it among “All The Best New R&B From This Week That You Need To Hear” and applauded it as “a sizzling and sultry number focused on her inability to remember the thrilling and excellent moments from the night before.GRM Daily noted, “Jada’s dancehall & R&B infused sound is mesmerizing,

New Motion also features Dickmatized.” The latter immediately incited critical applause. Brooklyn Vegan touted it among “20 New Rap and R&B Songs Out This Week” and applauded it as “a cool, chilled-out song that’s about exactly what you think it’s about.” Meanwhile, Dancehall Mag summed it up succinctly as “ultra-sexy.

ABOUT JADA KINGDOM
For as much as Jada Kingdom twists together dancehall, R&B, pop, and jazz, the Jamaica-born songwriter, model, and designer also merges moments of introspection, seduction, and empowerment. The family used showers outside and cooked outdoors as well. Despite “growing up in a really rough and dark place, Jada wrote poems at only eight-years-old and was inspired musically by the likes of Nina Simone, Diana King, Sade, Minnie Ripperton, and Amy Winehouse. At the age of fourteen, she left school, waitressed, promoted events, and modeled. She even launched her own swimwear line and organically built an Instagram following of millions. In 2017, she dropped her debut single “Love Situations.” By the end of the next year, she popped off internationally with “Banana” and the “Banana REMIX Challenge,” amassing 4.4 million Spotify streams and 3.5 million YouTube views. The FADER hailed her as “Jamaica’s alternative voice of pain.” During 2020, she served up the mixtape, E-Syde Queen (The Twinkle Playlist) #Snacksize, in between collaborating with everyone from YFN LucciPopcaan, and Vybz Kartel to DavidoSkillibeng, and Aluna. After amassing 20 million-plus streams and views independently and earning acclaim from The FADERRolling StoneVibe, and more, eventually, she linked up with GRAMMY® Award nominated singer, songwriter, and producer Verse Simmonds and joined forces for his single “Bedroom Bully.” The musical combo was so magical Verse brought in his partner, two time GRAMMY winner, and Jada Kingdom collaborator Akil “Fresh” King. Now together as a company by the name of “Money Well Spent” the duo are now executive producers on Jada’s forthcoming album. Landing a deal with Republic Records she is ready for her next chapter led by “Jungle.

Splash House 2022

By Krish Narsinghani

360 Magazine ventured to the SoCal desert for the year’s hottest pool party craze, Splash House, held in Palm Springs, CA. This year’s lineup featured house music faves and 360’s ones to watch like Kito, Walker & Royce, Chanel Tres, Diplo and more. For lodging, the team stayed right in downtown at Hotel ZOSO, an eight minute walk away from the main stage hotel party at The Renaissance. Throughout the weekend, shuttles drove guests between The Renaissance (featuring 400 rooms with great views) the other two pool party destinations, The Margaritaville (pyramid stage with front row views from the pool) and The Saguaro (colorful party playground).

The three-day fest kicked off with an Afters Party at the Palm Springs Air Museum with Duke Dumont headlining. Talk about a welcome! Spanned across the inside and primarily the outdoor areas of the museum, guests were surrounded by historic aviation, various drink sponsors and spotlit by the dessert stars. Handcrafted festival-inspired cocktails were served at bars for GA and VIP. The 110 degree weather had cooled down in the evening and made for a perfect set with familiar tunes. Dumont brought the hype with his original singles, Ocean Drive and I Got U. The dance with the devil icon DJ built up the crowd with wild drops in front of an airplane that painted the sky with colorful LED lights.

Saturday and Sunday were filled with pool parties needed for the heat. Splashers came decked out in festival gear mixed with sexy swimwear. The fits slayed by the diverse crowd flying in from all over the US, with a majority driving in from the surrounding areas. Everyone was ready to celebrate the start of the summer with stellar music, particularly the evening sets by Walker & Royce, Dombresky, Yung Bae and Chet Porter. Walker & Royce killed their set with their reminiscent SoundCloud mixes featuring some techno drops amping up the fans. This bled into the night with Dombresky’s performance who tore it up with harder spins and trippy lights. The crowd couldn’t resist raving poolside – truly a sight to see them splashing in sync to the rhythm of the bass.

Splashers main point of conversation was centered around electronic R&B Splash House newcomer, Chanel Tres, who dropped it down at Hotel Saguaro. Other performances that mesmerized the team included sets by Shallou, Roosevelt, and Hayden James. Household name, Diplo, made waves at The Renaissance pool deck on Sunday evening. This grand finale closed out an unforgettable weekend. The desert brought heat but the Splash House concerts were on fire. Overall, the weekend left guests exhausted, but more than anything, eager to grab tickets for the other Splash House destinations this year. Fore more info, visit the site at www.splashouse.com.

Simone Alysia's Debuts "Promises & Mistakes” via No Agency New York for use by 360 MAGAZINE

Simone Alysia – New Video

New York-based singer, songwriter, and producer Simone Alysia’s new video for her song “Promises & Mistakes” premiered today exclusively on NYLON. Layla Halabian writes, “With its sultry production and hazy vocals that feel beamed in from a dream, ‘Promises & Mistakes’ gets a visual to match from director Morgan Maher. The result is stripped down to the essentials — moody lighting, friends that double as sensual backup dancers, and Simone Alysia’s firm resolve.”

Find out more about Simone Alysia, watch the “Promises & Mistakes” video, and read her interview with NYLON’s Layla Halabian below.

What are you up to right now — describe your surroundings.

I’m in the backseat of a Lexus — the same seat where my song “Promises & Mistakes” was conceived — on my way back to NYC after being gone for three weeks in Colombia and Brazil. It’s a hot summer day, and I need a beverage.

What were you and director Morgan Maher hoping to convey with the video? What was the creative process behind the concept?

Morgan and I hoped to convey the feeling of taking back the power in a troubled relationship. After lots of conversations about ex-boyfriends and toxic relationships, we decided to focus on what makes us girls feel sexy, comfortable, and fierce.

How did you begin making music?

I began making music the second I could sing, I would make up songs and was always humming. I always knew that music was my calling. I started taking music more seriously in high school, when I went to the Professional Performing Arts School for classical vocal, and learned music production at Third Street Music School. I met a bunch of friends who shared my passion for music, and I started developing myself as an artist in various studios alongside them in NYC. I’m currently studying music at NYU at the Clive Davis Institute.

Which artists and genres/eras of music inspire you?

I’m inspired by a variety of artists, genres, and eras of music, and I’m still currently finding which genre best encapsulates my sound. For this reason, I’m really inspired by FKA Twigs and Pharrell Williams, as they both infuse many different styles to create their own distinct sound.

What kind of headspace were you in while writing “Promises & Mistakes?”

I wasn’t in a good headspace while writing “Promises & Mistakes.” In fact, many of the lyrics were written by myself and my ex in an argument in the form of a note we passed back and forth on our way back from upstate New York in the backseat of this same car. I was frustrated, broken down, and ready to move on from the vicious cycle we called love.

This track is off your EP Love & Release. What’s it like looking back on writing and recording the album? What have you learned since?

It’s interesting to look back on my EP Love & Release, as It was a completely different era of my life. To me, it’s kind of like a journal of 2020-2021 poured into five tracks. I’ve learned so much about myself both mentally and musically since the EP, and I’m excited to show the world who I’ve become.

Just. As. Erik new song "Printed in My Sheets" is out now via 360 Magazine

Just. As. Erik – PIMS

Just. As. Erik new song “Printed in My Sheets” is out now. The song is written by Erik together with the artist Janice, one of the Swedish soul scene’s leading figures, and producer John Hårleman who, among other things, has previously collaborated with Anders Bagge and produced songs for the Swedish Melodifestivalen and the American TV series Glee.

– “Printed in My Sheets” is about a magical place where you “sign” your name to enter. There you meet a person with whom you have a magical chemistry and experience. In this place, you forget everything else around you and you do not tell much about yourself to the other person, because you do not want to destroy the unspoiled, Erik says about the new single.

Erik’s sound is a combination of strong melodies, a consistent melancholic nerve, and a fluid gender expression, which is not least to be found in Erik’s bubbling soulful voice, fragile and clear, that is the foundation in all productions.

Erik has previously danced in Eurovision and participated in the Swedish Melodifestivalen, as lead singer in the synth duo The Lovers of Valdaro. He is educated at Balettakademin in Gothenburg and has since performed in musical theatre productions in over 10 years. He’s played the leading role in Priscilla at Göta Lejon in Stockholm and the role of Don Lockwood in Singing in the Rain at Kristianstad Theater. Right now he is on tour in Sweden with a new production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

In 2021, Erik released several songs together with artists such as Luca Debonaire, MVRE, Gatby and Miss Sister on the releases “Rewind” (EP), “Play” (album) and “Pause” (acoustic album). Erik’s songs have been supported by blogs like Alfitude and Music & Fashion Blog and Spotify have included his songs in playlists such as “New Music Friday Norway” and “Ny Pop.”

The new single “Printed in My Sheets” is available on all streaming services.

Will we Have Complete Control of Our Own Environments in the Metaverse?

The metaverse is on the way, and the hype around it is gaining serious traction. It could be completely transformative, changing the internet as we know it. It will have a major effect on many industries, with social media expected to be at the forefront of this new platform.

Social media users today have a multitude of privacy options so they can control what people see. However, there are questions about how and if this will translate to the metaverse.

Social Media Users Are Currently Able to Select Their Privacy Options

One of the reasons why social media sites have enjoyed such amazing success is the fact that users can tailor their own environments. They can see what they want to see and show people what they want to show them.

A lot of social media users value their privacy with the utmost importance. Nearly 80 percent of Facebook and Instagram members have adjusted their privacy settings in the last year, highlighting how crucial these features are.

According to an infographic from ExpressVPN, there are various ways to stay safe and private on social media. This includes having multiple accounts for different purposes, reviewing photo tags, and limiting posts to close friends. Users have so much control over these settings that they can create their own social media experience.

How Will This Translate to the Metaverse?

Because so much is unknown about the metaverse right now, it’s hard to know how these privacy settings will translate to this new world. According to XR Today, the metaverse will serve a wide variety of functions. This will include socializing, working, and playing. If people are using this world for different things, it may mean that their settings will have to alter depending on what they are doing.

Users may interact with the metaverse on different levels, some of which will give them more control than others. It’s reasonable to imagine that in social scenarios, everyone will have the power to show and see things in the same way they do now. However, when entering wider social settings like groups or entertainment zones, users may be exposed to content that they have no power over.

Metaverse inhabitants may still be able to block people as they can today on social media. If they encounter a blocked person in a social setting, they may not be able to see the face of their avatar or interact with them in any way.

There are already some theories about this, such as the ideas posed by Futurism. Metaverse users may be able to block things that they don’t want to see and go about constructing their own virtual worlds over time. Eventually, this could lead to bespoke experiences for everyone who enters the metaverse.

There’s no doubt that it’s going to take time for users to adapt to the metaverse. It is also likely to go through a lot of teething problems before it is as advanced as the world of social media today. Users have grown accustomed to constructing their own online spaces, though, and the metaverse is likely to offer similar options.

Trans woman, actress, entertainer, TV personality Monroe Alise shot Corey Fletcher speaks to Vaughn Lowery via 360 Magazine podcast

Monroe Alise

Listen to Monroe Alise’s full conversation with Vaughn Lowery on the 360 MAG Podcast HERE

Monroe Alise is an actress, LGBTQIA+ advocate, model and comedienne. As a transgender woman, she has fulfilled her childhood dream of working in the entertainment industry. Her philosophy on life is described in her mantra, “If you can’t laugh at life, you will never find a reason to live it.”

Born and raised in Washington DC, Monroe grew up passionate and inspired by media and entertainment. Her admiration for her father’s successful career as a DJ ignited her insatiable desire to entertain. Thus, she began singing in church, propelling her into the world of artistic expression.

For Monroe, a great singer consists of emulating your favorite idols while taking advantage of the potential of one’s own voice. As a child, she recalls being compared to artists like John Legend and Luther Vandross because of her tonality and courage. Another favorite is Nina Simone, whom she references while belting evangelical hymns.

As a youth, Monroe was a very active and social child. She studied sports public relations but fancied theatre. These disciplines were conducive to her discovery of sexuality. Further, she began to notice a direct correlation with her mother’s maternal responsibilites, rather than her father and two brother’s machismo profile.

According to Monroe, “While they were playing games and sports, I was in the kitchen doing my mom’s hair.” In addition, her openly gay aunt was influential in her gender transformation due to her immense pride and confidence.

Monroe’s gender bender was painstakingly challenging but became easier over time. For instance, while preparing for an acting role as a Trans woman, she became comfortable in this new skin. After the audition, she gave herself permission to continue to live within this newfound reality.

A year later, Monroe made the decision to come out, “I was like, well this is who I am, so I socially reinvented myself and this is the girl you see.” Eventhough the transition embraced authenticity, it was extremely taxing on her family as well as father’s religious convictions.

Lacking legit representation and management, Monroe began to utilize social media to seek opportunities within the realms of fashion and Hollywood. As a thespian, Monroe became enthralled by the portrayal of becoming another homosepian while subsequently having an impact on the world. This year’s main objective is New York City’s Broadway. Her short-term is to star in a sci-fi like Star Trek or Star Wars as well as a fantasy film similar in type to Harry Potter and Twilight. Longterm, Monroe aspires to host a namesake talk show directed and produced by herself.

As an emerging Trans Community activist, Monroe is deeply concerned about the increasing rate of violence against her people. She hopes to alleviate the suffering of her collective, especially at the hands and ignorance of the narrow-minded.

Monroe’s Five Principles:

1.) Adequate preparation;

2.) prevention of underachievement;

3.) working while you wait without worry;

4.) preparing for your mission;

5.) and continuing to work because you know you’ve been doing the best you could.

Lil Baby releases new song U-Digg via 360 Magazine

Lil Baby – U-Digg

GRAMMY Award-winning rapper Lil Baby has unleashed a new track and video “U-Digg.” The Atlanta native has teamed up with two of Detroit’s pacesetters, 42 Dugg & Veeze, to release an undeniable summer banger. Lil Baby and 42 Dugg delivered the smash hits “We Paid” and “Grace” from My Turn when they last joined forces. With the welcome addition of Veeze, “U-Digg” is sure to follow the trend as they trade ferocious verses over menacing production work. The new release denotes that Baby has no intentions of slowing his hustle and continues to mark himself as the reigning champ of his era.

Alongside the new release, Lil Baby got behind the camera himself to direct the track’s music video. The handheld-style camera-work feels authentic and raw, following Baby, Veeze and 42 Dugg from an impressive garage full of Maybach’s and T-Rex’s to the streets where they trade drifts and showcase their riches.

Alongside a standout performance at Hot 97’s Summer Jam this past weekend, Lil Baby’s new documentary Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, followed by a performance of fan favorite tracks from throughout his career Directed by Karam Gill, the film is raw, intimate, and chronicles the astonishing rise of a singular artist and activist, exploring the systemic oppression that keeps far too many people of color from participating in the American Dream. Produced by Quality Films, MGX Creative, and 4PF, the film will be available for Prime subscribers on August 26th.
