Bob Marley Birthday Celebration

The Marley Family and UMe will honor the legacy of Bob Marley, commemorating his 77th birthday by honoring his life, legacy, and music with a multitude of in-person, virtual, and philanthropic events.

The Marley Family is celebrating the occasion by returning to Marley’s Roots. Seven different events over seven days have been curated to give back to the community in Jamaica in observance of his birthday. The scheduled events include a Back To Our Roots beach cleanup and concert as well as a newly curated exhibition at the Bob Marley Museum, titled The 7 Roots of Bob Marley’s Livity, which features the work of young, up-and-coming artists. In addition, a new web series of the same name will premiere on Tuff Gong TV, which explores the natural mystic of Reggae Legend and his enduring influence on Jamaica and the world. Marley’s Earthstrong festivities culminate on February 6, with a limited-capacity concert celebration at Tuff Gong International, in Kingston, Jamaica which will be live-streamed on Bob Marley’s official YouTube channel. In addition, an extraordinary Lion’s Den Concert by Stephen Marley from Miami, FL., will also premiere on February 6. Adding to the birthday festivities, “Dreams Of Freedom,” the ninth episode of the Webby-nominated 12-part documentary series Legacy, will premiere February 3 at 7am PT/10am ET on Bob Marley’s Official YouTube Channel. “Dreams Of Freedom” highlights Bob Marley’s aspirations for Tuff Gong International to become the Motown of Reggae and his spirit of self-reliance. Marley family members, children Cedella, Ziggy, Julian, Rohan, Ky-Mani, and Damian, granddaughter, Donisha Prendergast, along with Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt of the I-Threes, and more also join. The Marley Brothers (Ziggy, Stephen, Damian, Julian, and Ky-Mani Marley) have not released music together in over a decade. “Cornerstone” (a cover of their father Bob Marley’s song) is out February 4, the day before the Brothers headline the CaliVibes Festival in Long Beach, CA in celebration of their father’s birthday. “Cornerstone” will be available via Ziggy Marley’s Tuff Gong Worldwide and Stephen Marley’s Ghetto Youth labels. 

Ziggy will offer an exclusive livestream of his special tribute concert in honor of his father’s birthday, which took place on May 30, 2021 at Petco Park in San Diego. Fans around the world can tune in on Friday, February 11th to stream the epic special event. 

Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong Radio (SiriusXM channel 19) plans to air “Bob Marley Roots 77 Birthday Concert,” a special concert recorded at Tuff Gong International Studios in Kingston, Jamaica. With a lineup of reggae, roots, and dancehall legends and contemporary stars, all paying tribute–the concert features Marcia Griffiths, Bugle, Amanyea, Tony Rebel, Gyptian, Queen Ifrica, and Black Am I. Hear it on Tuff Gong Radio on February 6, and then hear it on the SXM App starting February 7.

ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM ORCHID

Rolls-Royce recently announced their latest inspirational piece, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Orchid. Designed specifically with Singapore in mind, the Phantom is extremely rare as just one singular model has been produced. Looking to the orchid for motivation, the team chose this reference to serve as a representation of beauty and strength. Serving as a withstanding focal point in the history of art, this marks the first instance of an orchid being incorporated into a Rolls-Royce commission. Exemplifying the attributes of elegance and glamour with a light but edgy flow comes to Rolls-Royce Phantom Orchid.

BESPOKE COLLABORATION

The new commission comes as a partnership with the Bespoke Collective and the withstanding Rolls-Royce team. This imperative duo saw the likes of top designers and artists coming together to create a work of art.

Michael Bryden, Lead Designer, Rolls-Royce Bespoke, spoke on the Phantom and how it came to its full loveliness. He stated, “[the] Phantom Extended, our pinnacle motor car, was chosen to be the ‘blank canvas’ for this commission. Our concept envisaged a balanced yet progressive design, which echoes the values of the Singapore region. The orchid is seen in many facets of Asian life, a reminder that the resilient adapt and thrive regardless of the evolving environment. Phantom is the only motor car in the world to feature the Gallery, a space that enables one to exhibit art, sculptures, or objects of self-expression in the sanctuary of Phantom’s interior. For Phantom Orchid, we collaborated with award-winning artist Helen Amy Murray to create a unique, hand-sculpted silk artwork. The delicate materials and techniques that were deployed in the creation of this piece are protected behind an application of pure glass, that runs uninterrupted across the fascia of Phantom. Finished in an elegant blend of Grace White, Havana and Smoke Grey with Dark Olive stitching, the interior evokes the calm and serene nature which is inherent to the character of Phantom.”

HAND-SCULPTED ART

Through the association with Helen Amy Murray and her team, a new wave of work with Phantom’s Gallery has been generated. Their fresh and innovative design transformed the interpretation of a motor car’s presence.

Helen found creativity from the orchid, often referencing the Singapore Orchid, hence as to why the commission was constructed with the location as muse. She worked around the clock, totaling over 200 hours of subtlety refining her designs with her team of six.

The design came to initially through Helen’s hand drawings and sketches, before moving to a digital media that would ensure the success of the piece. Through the virtual enhancements, the team was able to print the art directly onto the silk crepe satin. More handwork came into play for the final part of the layout process, where they hand-molded the flowers to stimulate a 3D force.

ORCHID SANCTUARY

Rolls-Royce Bespoke Designer Yohan Benchetrit worked his magic on the interior of the Phantom. He started with an orchid-motivated Picnic Table Inlay through the rear of the suite. Moving on, Bespoke treadplates were an addition that mimicked a like theme sans text to all who hopped into the motor car. Natural colors finished out the interior of the Phantom, adding to the luxurious experience imitated.

GLORIOUS EXTERIOR

To add to the exclusivity of this Phantom, a distinct paint was crafted using advanced, modern paint technology. The color started with a base of Arctic White with a light tint of violet was laid over, motivated by the main inspiration for the piece, orchids. The addition of fine glass particles within the paint color establishes a dazzling aura.

Fresh off the release of his explosive debut project, BIG30 released his first new music this year with hard-hitting: “Protest”. The track is a dynamic blend of technical skill and steely intensity, mixing percussive flows and 30’s vivid recollections of life. Incari Retrofit Cars

The Berlin-based tech company Incari has partnered with the renowned Strate School of Design Bangalore and the French company Design 1880 to jointly retrofit advanced human-machine interfaces (HMI) in classic cars as well as outdated but beloved road cars. “We and our partners bring together the perfect tools, the know-how, and the experience to build on the past for a better and more sustainable future,” says Osman Dumbuya, CEO of Incari.

Retrofitted cars are a market on the rise, with more and more collectors and car enthusiasts looking to renew the technology inside their classic and vintage models to increase comfort and satisfy today’s legal and ecological requirements. While the retrofit market today is mostly focused on electrification only, Incari provides the possibility to easily integrate new technologies into older car models for a modern user experience. However, the partnership between Incari, the Strate School of Design Bangalore, and Design 1880 is not limited to cars. Any type of vehicle can be retrofitted with the latest HMI and drive technology with the expertise and technology of the three partners, without losing its flair.

Modern technology blending in with the style of the past

Incari has already gained experience in equipping vintage cars with state-of-the-art HMI interfaces. A legendary (D)eLorean has been updated with Incari technology in partnership with Wunderkind Invest. The specially developed electric drive components of the iconic e-Lorean are combined with a unique HMI developed by Incari.

In a joint effort with Design 1880, a Fiat 500 has been electrified. The classic Fiat 500 is equipped with a digital display and can be easily connected to the smartphone and a special app. It features a smartphone holder adapted to the latest technological standards such as induction charging and magnetic attachment. The smartphone can be installed easily and without cables with one hand while offering a style that makes you think it was developed in the same period as the car.

A circular digital screen replaces the analog speedometer, is connected to the smartphone, and continuously provides relevant information to accompany the driving experience. The screen makes it possible to check battery consumption, for example, and can also be customized. This takes the user experience to a new level while preserving the spirit of the iconic car.

Incari reduces development times up to 70 percent

Incari offers a software platform with an intuitive visual user interface to design state-of-the-art human-machine interfaces. It enables users who lack programming skills to design complex interfaces in 3D, while at the same time generating a very clean programming code. Moreover, Incari provides a common software environment for developers and designers who are already in the prototyping phase. This brings flexibility and saves time. 

The software also takes a 3D-first approach. This offers entirely new possibilities in user comfort–especially in conjunction with augmented reality (AR). The Incari method promises a reduction in development times in the HMI area of up to 70 percent, as comparative projects have shown, with simultaneously lower personnel requirements and a higher-quality end-user experience.

Interview with Maria Becerra

Maria Becerra, or “the Girl from Argentina”, is an up-and-coming pop star, who despite only being 21 years old has become Argentina’s most-streamed artist. Starting off as a YouTuber, she quickly rose to fame and is now signed to 300 Entertainment (Young Thug, Meghan Thee Stallion.) 360 got the opportunity to talk with her about her life and rise to fame.   

  1. How would you describe your style of music?

I think that I have a very melodic and versatile musical style. In the studio, we always try to ensure that each song has a varied melodic line, with different nuances, that above all… sounds familiar to the public. I have [traversed] several genres and in all of them, I was able to find how to make my style fit. I heard out there that they call me “The queen of weeping” [laughs] because I have many songs that are for dogging and dancing, and others that are a bit sad.

  1. How did you first become interested in creating music?

From a very young age, art was important to me. I learned how to sing, act, and dance. In my house, [we] listened to a lot of music. For a while I did covers and interpretations of famous songs, I think I was absorbing that and at one point I felt the need to start expressing myself with something of my own and I did. I was not 100% sure, I had many insecurities, I was afraid to know how… [people] …were going to receive my music, and also if this was really my path. Luckily things turned out… [positively] …and today I have no doubts that yes, I was born for this and I am very happy [making a] living from music.

  1. Which songs are you most proud of?

Mm, they are all special and fill me with pride. You can’t say just one. If I have to think quickly… [about] …which one I like the most, maybe… “Close to You” or “My Debility.” That song is very special. I cried a lot while making it and recording the video.

  1. You were a Youtuber before becoming a singer. How was the experience of transitioning from an influencer to an artist?

It was a beautiful experience, and I am grateful that it was like that. The change in my life was… [immense]. Being [on] YouTube gave me the opportunity to get to know me and lose my fear of exposure. …having had the experience of being a YouTuber served as the basis for everything that happened to me later.

  1. What is your favorite fan moment?

My favorite moment is when… [fans] …tell me… that my music… [is relatable] …to them. It’s amazing how something I do with all my love in the studio can reach so many people and positively influence their lives. ….we would…talk to …different fans, and at one point a girl told us that with “Tell me how I do”, one of my songs, she had declared her love to her girlfriend. I found it beautiful. Those moments fill me with happiness.

  1. How does it feel to have reached this level of popularity so young?

I still don’t think… [I’m famous]. It seems incredible to me, but I take it easy. I do not despair and try to have the same life as always. I surround myself a lot with my friends, my family, and my pets who are my ground wire and remind me of where I come from.

  1. Why do you refer to yourself as ‘The Girl from Argentina’? 

In general, it is known that many discoveries have occurred accidentally in the world, and this was no exception. [laughs] When we recorded “Animal” with Cazzu, at last, in the part of the song’s guidelines I said “Las Nenas de Argentina”… referring to the two of us. Apparently, people heard “La nena de Argentina” and everyone loved that I refer[red] to myself that way. From there I started to use it as my brand, and I feel that it gives me a special power for transmitting to everyone that my music is made and is from Argentina.

  1. Who are your influences?

Wow, many! But especially Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, and Rihanna. I think they are very important to me. I watch their shows and videos a lot.

  1. How did it feel to join a label as prestigious as 300 Entertainment?

[It was] an honor, I am very happy with them. They are also always very affectionate with me. Since their office is in Los Angeles, we don’t see each other that often, but when we do it’s very nice because they always surprise me. I know the whole team takes care of me and they want the best for me, so I respect them and thank them very much.

  1. Your most recent EP blended many different genres. Which genres would you like to experiment with in the future?

I like “Bachata”, I think more songs like… [that] …are coming, but as I said before, I don’t want to pigeonhole myself and today I am here to experiment. So, in 2022, you can be surprised. 

  1. What can we expect to see from you in the future?

I feel like it’s going to be a great year this year. We are working to make it so. I’m locked in the studio; some songs are coming out that are tremendous. I am already anxious for you to listen to them, so a new album is coming, trips and several shows in Argentina and Europe. We will be on the move. We hope to reach many places and have everyone dance and sing my music.
