ArrDee and Aitch via Republic Records for use by 360 Magazine

ArrDee × Aitch – War

UK rap wonderkids ArrDee and Aitch join forces on new single “WAR,” out today via Republic Records. Stream it HERE.

Propelled by a triumphant, mariachi-sampling drill production, “WAR” sees both artists trade slick verses and demonstrate exactly why they are two of the country’s most adored musical talents.

The suitably combative official video—released via ArrDee‘s YouTube features ArrDee and Aitch assemble rival battalions—fit with tank-like 4x4s, balaclava-clad horsemen and footsoldiers dressed in black—before clashing on the sands of ArrDee’s native Brighton. The epic visuals were shot by Gabriella Kingsley (Fireboy DML, Ed Sheeran, Krept & Konan, Eugy, Mr Eazi).

Having drawn comparisons in the past—both for their physical appearance and rapping style—the social media buzz was accentuated when the pair connected via Instagram Live last month. Within a week they found themselves in the studio, and “‘WAR” was the end product.

The release of “WAR” also coincides with the announcement of ArrDee’s hotly-anticipated debut mixtape Pier Pressure, with the pre-order officially going live alongside the single’s release. Primed for release on Friday March 18th, more details will be revealed over the coming weeks.

It follows three UK ‘Top 10’ singles for ArrDee, in the form of “Flowers (Say My Name),” “Oliver Twist” and “Wasted” with Digga D, tracks that have amassed more than 140 million combined Spotify streams. He was also nominated for ‘Best Newcomer’ at the GRM Daily Rated Awards and the MOBOs, as well as winning ‘Best Song’ for the “Body” remix alongside Russ and Tion Wayne, a huge international hit that spent three weeks at #1 in the UK Singles charts—the first drill record to do so. If this wasn’t enough, he released “Wid It,” a collaborative single with fellow chart-topper Tion Wayne that again broke it into the UK ‘Top 20’, and overall he has amassed a whopping 5 billion views on TikTok.

About ArrDee

ArrDee burst onto the scene with debut single “Cheeky Bars” at the start of last year, a track that has received over 5 million YouTube streams after being premiered by Mixtape Madness. It also picked up organic radio support from Tiffany Calver, DJ Target (BBC 1Xtra), Ricky Melvin and Charlie Hedges (BBC Radio 1) and made its way onto Spotify NMF UK and Rap UK, debuting at #14 in the Viral chart. Then came “6AM In Brighton,” an ode to his hometown that perfectly showcased the 21-year-old’s rapid-fire flow and heart-on-sleeve lyricism, surpassing 2 million YouTube views inside its first month of release.

About Aitch

In the late-2010s after the success of viral freestyle “Straight Rhymez,” Aitch quickly cemented a position as one of the UK’s biggest rappers. After featuring on prolific hits like “Keisha & Becky” and “Strike A Pose,” the charismatic young MC then took his own place in the charts with the popular hit “Taste (Make It Shake)” and EP: AitcH20.Two of the most in-demand names in British music finally link up and giving the public what they’ve long since wanted—with predictably stellar results.

NKR Donor Games

Mimi Mahon, a living kidney donor, will compete in the upcoming virtual National Kidney Registry (NKR) Donor Games deadlift competition, February 16-23. Mahon is the owner and head coach at Mahon Strength & Fitness, which opened its doors in January 2021 in Hamilton, Ohio.

In a general population survey, 80% of respondents felt that donating a kidney would negatively affect their health. Mahon participates in the Donor Games to refute this widely held misconception by showcasing her impressive health and fitness along with other donors from around the country.

Growing up in a family of athletes, Mahon learned early to value sport and competition. In addition to the NKR Donor Games, Mahon has participated in a variety of fitness competitions including CrossFit, Strong(wo)man, powerlifting, and Spartan Races. She played Division I college softball at Cleveland State University and has worked as a strength coach, softball coach, and CrossFit trainer. More than a dozen Donor Games competitors either belong to her gym or were introduced to the competitions by her.

Mahon is married to Ashley Obrest and they have a son, Niko. She is also a triplet with her sister, Ali, and brother, Chris. She also has two older brothers, Nick and Nate, as well as parents Nicki and Dale.

Mahon donated a kidney on behalf of her mother through the NKR’s paired donation program in January 2017. While Mahon was not a direct match for her mother, the NKR facilitated a swap between two incompatible pairs of recipients/donors through a paired donation. The NKR is dedicated to increasing the number of kidney transplants from living donors, improving donor-recipient matches for longer-lasting transplants, and offering protection and support to living kidney donors to make the kidney donation process safer, easier and more convenient. For more information about Mahon, including a video, visit this website. To learn more about the National Kidney Registry, visit this website.

Cyb’Air NFTs

SHOES 53045 is continuing its invasion of the metaverse—by dropping its first-ever virtual shoe (and a unique virtual experience) in partnership with MetaJuice the blockchain company unlocking the metaverse. Buyers can click HERE starting February 3, 2022 and purchase the limited edition Cyb’Air NFTs and then bring them into the IMVU Metaverse and showcase them in a specially-designed room.

Also, Cyb’Air—a virtual platform-heeled bubble air sneaker boot with supernatural powers—launches as an NFT on virtual fashion platform THE DEMATERIALISED (DMAT) and can be imported and worn on the metaverse platform IMVU on February 3, 2022 at 3p.m. Paris, 6a.m. LA. Three NFTs—Thunder, Lava, and Ice—will be available with varying levels of scarcity :

  • Cyb’Air Thunder: Limited edition of 150 units at 200 euros each
  • Cyb’Air Lava: Limited edition of 150 units at 200 euros each
  • Cyb’Air Ice: 1 unit, auction beginning at 1000 euros

Cyb’Air’s design sets a new bar for shoe design in the metaverse. The futuristic boot introduces a new bubble air sole into the brand’s family of styles: a double-decker platform with a triple-decker heel. Inspired by motocross footwear and superhero boots, Cyb’Air have built-in superpower effects: Thunder has a stormy thunder effect, Lava erupts like a molten volcano, and Ice freezes and shatters.

“Our brand has been digital since day one. We’ve always been creating digital art and building a digital community, so this is a natural playground for us,” says SHOES 53045 CEO Aurelia Ammour. “People dare to wear more extreme styles in the metaverse, and it’s exciting to bring that to them.”

“When you’re designing for the metaverse, there is no limit to creativity—no constraints around what is possible to produce or fit to the human foot,” adds SHOES 53045 Chief Creative Officer David Tourniaire. “This is thrilling to us.”

Karinna Grant, Co-CEO of DMAT, explains that “on partnering with Shoes53045 again we wanted to be even more progressive than our last NFT launch together. Therefore this time we focused on enabling authentic NFT utility through the seamless integration for owners to wear their shoes Direct to Avatar (DTA) in IMVU via our MetaJuice NFT partnership. We strive to offer added value with our NFTs and we can’t wait to see the owners styling their new boots in the metaverse!”

Through THE DEMATERIALISED, owners can showcase the NFT on their Universal Profile, wear and capture them in AR, and for the very first time, owners are able to port their new shoes into IMVU.

“MetaJuice unlocks the full value of the metaverse for users and we are one of the few platforms enabling users to import NFTs and showcase them,” said Nancy Beaton, Vice President of Strategy and Marketing for MetaJuice. “The IMVU platform has 1,000,000 daily active users and we are offering each of them a unique experience where they can own,  style and wear NFTs and Cyb’air shoes in an immersive SHOES 53045 environment.”

As part of the launch, NFT owners are invited to participate in SHOES 53045’S first meta-film =—an interactive, community-based art project that will screen in a live event and exhibition on Spatial.io starting February 25. Owners and influencers will be encouraged to create content in the IMVU experience, and to share videos, images, and mixed-media montages featuring the shoes in action in their digital life with hashtag #cybair. The results will be edited into a meta-film that will be part of the final exhibition.

Last but not least, simultaneous with the meta-film, there will be a SHOES 53045 Instagram selfie challenge for the IMVU community, complete with a Shoes 53045 digital shoe giveaway and chances to win a Shoes 53045 NFT and VCOIN.

The 3-D Cyb’Air campaign, by digital artist Gabrielle Rosenstein and Virtual Rags, displays the shoes and their superpowers in close-up to a soundtrack by New York-based hyperpop band Frost Children.

FRFF Poster via Cindy Shaoul for use by 360 Magazine

FRFF Poster

The fourth annual French Riviera Film Festival (FRFF) is pleased to unveil the fest’s 2022 official poster, featuring an original work of art, titled “Girl On The French Riviera,” created exclusively for the festival by New York City-based, impressionistic/abstract artist Cindy Shaoul. The announcement was made by festival co-founders Gotham Chandna and Nicole Goesseringer Muj.

“When we discussed options for our 2022 official poster, we wanted to make it extra special, since we plan to be back in Cannes once again,” comments Muj. “We first discovered the art of Cindy Shaoul in 2021 and felt it was perfectly matched to our creative vision for the festival.  So, we decided to approach Cindy and asked her if she might like to create an original artwork for our festival. We were thrilled when she agreed!”

“I wanted to create a painting that would exemplify relaxed living on the Riviera—a story in one image. What every person dreams of while thinking of this majestic destination. Mysterious, yet captivating, while the lights flicker in the distance. We can only imagine who she is, where she has come from, and where she is going,” comments Shaoul.

The fourth installment of the festival will take place once again at the Eden Hotel and Resort in Cannes, France during the time of the Festival de Cannes in May 2022. The annual festival celebrates short film and short-form content from around the globe and features the works of filmmakers from more than 20 countries in the categories of drama, comedy, documentary, sci-fi/horror, animation, experimental, music video, lifestyle, and fashion, as well as new categories for 2022, micro short and activism.

“We are excited to hold the 2022 hybrid festival in Cannes again, live from the Eden Hotel, as well as virtually for those who can’t make in-person,” says Chandna. “In addition to showcasing the poster, our plan is to display Cindy’s original painting ‘Girl On The French Riviera’ at our festival receptions.”

Due to the continued uncertainty surrounding public events due to the pandemic, the festival was held virtually in 2020 and 2021 and held intimate, live awards ceremonies each year at The Beverly Hills Hotel. The 2022 edition is planned to be a hybrid event, with finalist films being available to view worldwide via the Sparq platform, the festival’s official streaming partner.

To kick off the festival, FRFF will also feature the fifth annual Global Entertainment Showcase, scheduled for May 22, 2022, at the International Village at the Palais des Festival in Cannes. More details will be announced soon.

Event partners include Beverly Hills Hotel, Bel-Air Fine ArtChateau de Berne, filmfestivals.com, The Good Gin, and Sparq. Additional partners will be announced soon.

The next submission deadline on Film Freeway is February 13, 2022.

FRFF’s Advisory Board includes international actress and human rights activist Yasmine Al Massri; Michael Benoraya, the founder, International Film Trust; Bruno Chatelin, COO, filmfestivals.com (also on festival jury), Emmy Award-winning actor Vincent De Paul; Larry Namer, president/CEO,  Metan Global Entertainment Group; Ana B. Remos, vice president, editorial director & founder, azureazure (also on festival jury); Dr. Laura Wilhelm, founder/principal, LauraWil Intercultural (also on festival jury); and Daphna Edwards Ziman, president, Cinémoi USA.  Jury members include Rehna Azim, awards editor, Movie Marker; Lena Basse, journalist, Hollywood Foreign Press Association; Claude Brickell, filmmaker, screenwriter, and educator; Anna Marie de la Fuente; renowned actress Wendy Morgan; James Prestige, publisher, Close-Up Culture; Eileen Tasca, managing director, Alien Films & Task Films; and Sue Vicory, founder, Heartland Films and Women Documentary Film Makers.

First launched in 2019 during the time period of the Cannes Film Festival, FRFF recognizes and celebrates short-form content created for film, television, web, and all digital platforms. Each year, FRFF invites filmmakers from around the world to participate in the two-day, by invitation only, event that includes screenings, gala receptions, and a closing awards ceremony. Attendees and participants include filmmakers, industry executives, celebrities, media, and influencers.

BHM on the Road

For Black History Month, the Holiday Rambler brand has assembled a collection of sites, monuments, and museums throughout the United States that recognize and commemorate significant Black leaders, historical sites, and poignant places.

The roots of Black History Month date back to 1915 when an organization dedicated to promoting achievements by Black Americans declared the second week in February, “Negro History Week”. More than 60 years later, the original week expanded into Black History Month when President Gerald Ford officially recognized it in 1976.

For those planning a Black History Month road trip, traveling in a “home on wheels” makes things easier and more convenient. Holiday Rambler RVs are known for their superior functionality and luxury design amenities that allow travelers to explore far and wide with confidence and in comfort.

One of the brand’s signature motorhomes is the 2022 Vacationer®, a Class A Gas motorhome with three models that range from 34′ to 39′ and are built on a Ford Chassis. While the Vacationer is shorter in length, it’s designed to impress. The 36F model sleeps up to eight with a sleeper sofa, king bed, bunk beds that convert into a seating area, and an optional Hide-A-Loft drop down queen bed. Other sought-after amenities include two full baths, electric fireplace, stainless steel appliances, three-burner cooktop, master bedroom suite, and three LED TVs, including an exterior entertainment center.

Holiday Rambler is a Class A RV brand within REV Recreation Group, Inc., which is a subsidiary of REV Group®, Inc.

The U.S. Civil Rights Trail

For those who can dedicate a week or longer to Black History Month exploration, the U.S. Civil Rights Trail is the place to start.

Established in 2018, the Civil Rights Trail preserves the history of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. The trail crosses 14 states and Washington, D.C., and connects more than 100 landmarks and historical sites, including the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum in Jackson; the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama; the locations of sit-ins across the South; and the Supreme Court in Washington D.C. The trail website contains a wealth of information and features an interactive map, along with detailed itineraries by state.

RVers can spend the night at Rivertown Rose Campground near Jackson, Mississippi, Kounty Air RV Park near Selma, Alabama, or Cherry Hill Park near Washington, D.C.

Washington D.C.

The nation’s Capitol is home to several significant sites, including the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. The centerpiece of the memorial is a commanding 30′ granite statue, known as the Stone of Hope, that pays tribute to the Civil Rights leader. King is the first African American honored with a memorial on or near the National Mall and only the fourth non-President to be memorialized this way. The outdoor site is free and open 24 hours a day. Nearby on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, find the spot where King gave his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech.

Occupying a prominent location next to the Washington Monument on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., the nearly 400,000-square-foot National Museum of African-American History and Culture is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive cultural destination devoted exclusively to exploring, documenting, and showcasing the African American story and its impact on American and world history. The museum features more than 36,000 artifacts with collections on African American music, literature, photography, and more.

The National Portrait Gallery houses iconic images of Black Americans, from a painting of Lena Horne to an antique photograph of Frederick Douglass. Be sure to check out the official portrait of President Obama in America’s Presidents gallery and the official portrait of former First Lady Michelle Obama in the 20th Century Americans gallery. Both paintings were done by African American contemporary artists.

Arlington National Cemetery is a moving tribute to some of our country’s bravest and brightest men and women, including Medgar Wiley Evers. Evers, an American Civil Rights activist and World War II veteran, was assassinated in 1963 and is buried in Section 36, Grave 1431. The cemetery is home to many other important and prominent Black Americans, including the “Buffalo Soldiers,” U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, and Hazel W. Johnson-Brown, the first African American woman to attain a general officer rank in American military history.

RVers can spend the night at Cherry Hill Park.

Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta was the birthplace of Dr. King and it is also the final resting place of the iconic leader and his wife, Coretta Scott King. Visitors can spend two full days in the city touring King’s birth home, visiting Ebenezer Baptist Church where King was a minister, paying their respects at his tomb, and exploring two significant museums.

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights is a museum and human rights organization that aims to inspire people to tap into their own power to change the world around them. The Center’s exhibitions feature the papers and artifacts of King, the history of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement, and stories from the struggle for human rights around the world.

Each year, nearly a million people make the pilgrimage to The King Center to learn of and be inspired by Dr. King. The King Center is dedicated to educating the world about his life, legacy, and teachings. The center’s archives house the largest collection of primary source materials on King and the American Civil Rights Movement in the world. The archives also include more than 200 oral history interviews with King’s teachers, friends, family, and peers.

RVers can spend the night at Atlanta South RV Resort.

Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee

Sadly, Memphis is infamous as the city where Dr. King was killed. The Lorraine Motel balcony, the place where King was assassinated in 1968, serves as the backdrop for The National Civil Rights Museum. Through interactive exhibits, historic collections, dynamic speakers, and special events, the museum offers visitors a chance to walk through history and learn more about a tumultuous and inspiring period of change. The Mason Temple Church of God in Christ is part of the museum and is the place where King delivered “Mountaintop,” his last speech.

Based in Nashville, the National Museum of African American Music celebrates the role Black Americans played in helping create the American soundtrack. The museum houses a collection of music created and inspired by African American artists. On any given day, guests can join an intimate chat with an artist or industry leader while taking in dozens of interactive exhibits.

RVers can spend the night at Graceland RV Park & Campground near Memphis or Elm Hill RV Resort near Nashville.

Detroit, Michigan

From Motown to the Underground Railroad, Detroit’s Black roots run deep. The city is home to various cultural and historic sites, including the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. The museum has more than 35,000 artifacts, including permanent collections about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad.

For many, Detroit was the last stop on the Underground Railroad. The Second Baptist Church of Detroit provided a safe place for approximately 5,000 people who were enslaved, offering food and rest before they crossed the Detroit River into Canada and freedom. Tours of the church and its exhibits are provided by members of the Detroit Underground Railroad Historical Society.

The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation is home to the bus where in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat and changed the course of history. Nearby is Greenfield Village, a living history outdoor museum that includes a recreation of the Missouri slave cabin where famous botanist and inventor George Washington Carver was born as well as the actual dwellings of two slave families from the Hermitage Plantation near Savannah, Georgia.

RVers who visit Detroit after April 15 can spend the night at Hass Lake Park when the resort reopens for the season. For more travel tips and ideas and to see the latest Holiday Rambler models, follow Holiday Rambler on Facebook and Instagram.

Wine Cab

Each year in France, 10 million wine tourists come to discover some 10,000 cellars open to visitors throughout the country. But this success has a drawback: the circuits offered are all alike. Wine lovers have to deal with soulless luxury sedans and signposted tours, without much originality.

It is because he had this experience when he moved to Bordeaux 12 years ago that Antoine Beucher decided to break the codes of the market. He invented a unique, deliciously atypical concept: Wine Cab, the wine route by English taxi.

Climbing aboard the mythical London “cab” means boarding in a car with a vintage look and a strong personality. Fitted out as a real tasting room, the famous Fairway FX4 seduces with its inimitable style and elegant line.

On Bordeaux lands, this English taxi allows you to live an experience unique, and at the same time simple, convivial, and authentic, to meet passionate winegrowers.

A slow life mindset to reinvent the iconic wine route

Wine Cab embodies a philosophy like the English taxi: the friendly driver offers tailor-made tours to beautiful addresses usually known to only a “happy few” in the region.

Tastings in the car, innovative in Bordeaux, mark the spirits by their originality and their quality. And so to make each lap unforgettable, each participant leaves with a souvenir road book with Polaroid pictures… so chic but without fuss!

The little Wine Cab plus: a welcoming guide in each area, who shares “house” secrets and offers tastings directly from the barrel or the vat. Our Wine Tour concept is simply unique!

The Wine Cab assets

● Health security: the English taxi is the only private transport vehicle with protective glass

● Private tours: tours take place with friends, couples, or families of up to 4 people

● The possibility of creating your own wine (cellar master workshop)

● Tastings in the taxi while driving

● A souvenir road book with Polaroid pictures

More and more winegrowers have made organic a philosophy. Wine Cab offers an initiatory circuit to discover more structured, more aromatic wines, with more fruity and spicy notes, in short, naturally good (organic) wines!

On the program: four hours of the discovery of the best wines produced by passionate and educationalists winegrowers, driven by the desire to introduce this type of culture.

The circuit includes pick-up and drop-off at a hotel in Bordeaux, two visits with tasting in two “organic” certified châteaux, one “countryside” tasting in the vineyards (or in the Cab in case of rain), and transport in an English cab by an English-speaking driver.

As an option, it is also possible to provide accompaniment by an expert oenologist (+280€).

The price is from €132/person.

Women often have a different outlook than men: they are more open to innovations, organic viticulture, and biodynamics. In Bordeaux, a few women are even pioneers in this field and their wines are very successful. Wine Cab invites you to meet these passionate and fascinating women who give themselves up through their testimonies and their stories.

About Antoine Beucher

After studying at a journalism school (Institut Français de Presse) and obtaining a degree in Economics, Antoine Beucher worked as a host in a local channel in Toulouse and then worked for 30 years as the manager of an event agency. Wine Cab aims to publicize the Wine Tours organized in Bordeaux and to establish itself as the reference for vintage vehicle tours in the region. Moreover, beyond 10 people, the tours can also be organized in a Combi, 2 CV, Cadillac. Subsequently, Wine Cab has plans to duplicate its concept in other wine regions.

What Makes California Such a Popular Place to Live?

It’s no secret that people love the golden coast — and there’s no shortage of reasons why. California is a great place to visit, of course, but it’s also a fantastic place to lay down your roots and settle down — or not, depending on your lifestyle! One of the many amazing things about living in California is the opportunity to experience so many different things.

Whether you’re from the west coast already or you’re thinking about jumping coasts — or even if you’re simply wondering what makes California so special, here are just a few of the reasons why California is such a popular place to live.

It’s Beautiful

This one is hardly news to anybody, but California is one of the most beautiful states in the Union. It basically has everything you could ever want: cascading forests, desert landscapes, beaches, and mountains. Literally any view that you can picture!

Although beauty isn’t always the primary priority in where you choose to live, there’s something to be said for being surrounded by gorgeous environments. That’s something you can’t get just anywhere, and California has it in spades.

The Weather

Even with all of the different environments and landscapes present across the great state of California, pretty much everywhere has a great take on the weather. From the seasonal Northern California variations to the SoCal sunshine, there’s so much to love in California. It feels like a state where the weather was specifically designed for the human experience.

Unlike the warmer corners of the east coast, the heat in Southern California isn’t humid, making it all the more pleasant.

Industry

There are so many industries that call California home, all throughout the state. It’s no secret that in the entertainment industry, Los Angeles is the place to be. Additionally, Northern California — specifically the San Francisco Bay area — is the place to go if you work in tech.

There are so many industries and job opportunities all over the state of California. It’s a state with so much going on and with such a stimulated economy that, no matter what you do, you can find work.

Variety

You may already be aware of this, but California has so much variety in terms of the scenery, people, pricing, and environment. Unlike many of the smaller states, California has so much to offer. You can drive up or down the coast for hours and still remain within California.

There’s so much to see and do within the state of California, from the national parks to the great cities and beaches. You’ll basically never feel bored, especially if it’s all brand new to you.

Health Care

This definitely isn’t the case with every state, but California has so many good options for health care. In terms of public programs, the progressive policies in place in the state allow for much wider access to resources. This can include things like therapy, forms of addiction treatment, dental care, and vision care. This is good news for anyone in need of health coverage.

Education

California can hold its own in the realm of education, both with K-12 and in terms of university education. Technically, it’s ranked number 20 overall for education, but there are plenty of specific places where the education system really shines. There’s an entire network of public Montessori schools within California, and the university system within the state is one of the best in the country for public education.

Plenty of the University of California schools are considered elite colleges, which isn’t true for every state school. Many people move to California specifically to go to college within the state. Plus, for those who establish residency, there are so many opportunities for funding, scholarships, and financial aid for community colleges and four-year colleges.

The Culture

This reason for residing in the Golden State might be a little more nebulous, but it definitely still has its place. The culture of California is so varied and interesting that so many people are drawn to it.

Of course, there are stereotypes and first impressions that might fade — like the idea that everyone is a surfer or that everybody is a rock star. However, there is a distinctly pleasant culture that radiates from the west coast in all kinds of unique ways. Sure, the specific culture of Oakland might vary wildly from that of Encinitas, but that in itself is a part of the charm.

Diversity

California is an extremely diverse place, and this can stand true in plenty of regions. Both in terms of the people there and the cultures of each individual city, it can be a beautifully colorful place to meet all kinds of people and experience different things in life.

Plenty of people move to California and places like it to experience different cultures or to find groups they enjoy being surrounded by. This can be especially important for those who don’t feel represented where they currently live and want to prioritize community.

The Food Scene

If delicious food is one of the most important things you look for in a place to live, look no further than the great state of California. Since the state is so varied and has so many different diverse populations, the food is a colorful mix of all things vibrant and delicious.

Check out the seafood and the Mexican food — and, honestly, anything else you could dream of. Up and down the coast, you’ll find so many different things, too. The food has so much variety and culture that you’ll never get bored, even if you find a few favorites.

What Makes California So Popular?

California is a beautiful place with so much culture, so many opportunities, and tons of beauty. It’s no wonder why so many people choose to live in this amazing state. From all the industries that call California home to the amazing food, weather, and educational opportunities, this is a state that’s alive and not stopping anytime soon. Are you from the west coast? Or are you a fellow east-coaster looking to expand westward?

Etiquette Tips for Five Special Occasions and Life Events

Etiquette is the practice of knowing what to do, what to say and where to look during life events. Rather than being restrictive, having rules for polite behavior can give you emotional support so you know what’s expected and feel good about your choices.

Etiquette is an aspect of culture that varies by country and culture. For example, close friend groups often create more relaxed rules for acceptable behavior, like opening each other’s fridges. However, the goal of etiquette always remains the same – to define and abide by boundaries that show respect for yourself and others.

As society has become more global, it’s become more difficult to know what’s expected in specific situations. A good rule of thumb is to watch others’ behavior and model your own after theirs. However, this can occasionally get you in trouble.

Etiquette doesn’t have to be overwhelming, even with differences in culture and location. Here are seven common situations you may face and how to properly behave for each of them.

Dining Out

Although everyone practices table manners differently, you can follow a few guidelines to show respect everywhere. Here are three rules that govern how to eat politely  – whether you’re at a fancy restaurant on a date or relaxing with friends.

  1. Take Your Time

One of the keys to eating politely is to take your time. Rushing usually leads to mess – either down your front or across your face. You also shouldn’t keep your elbows on the table while eating, and try to avoid bringing your face down to the food.

  1. Don’t Talk With Your Mouth Full

This is one of the most common dining faux pas and is really gross when you think about it. No one wants to see half-chewed food inside your mouth, and it definitely distracts from what you’re saying. Taking small bites will help you avoid this.

  1. Wait Until Everyone Is Seated

Although this custom has mostly been lost in American culture, it’s a respectful way to ensure everyone can enjoy their meal together. However, if you’re eating in an informal setting, this rule may draw more attention to you rather than less.

Weddings

Weddings are another type of event with their own set of special rules. However, with a little preparation, you can attend ceremonies confidently either as a guest or a member of the bridal party. Here are three things to remember.

  1. Check the Dress Code

The bride should have the spotlight at her wedding, so no one else should wear white. It’s also a good idea to check the invitation for any specific dress code instructions since some ceremonies are more formal than others.

  1. Don’t Bring Extra Guests

Weddings are expensive, and the bride and groom have chosen their guest list very carefully. This means you shouldn’t bring a plus one unless they were specifically included in your invitation. Let the bride and groom decide who will be at their wedding.

  1. Be Gracious and Supportive

True friends will not be offended if they aren’t chosen to be part of the bridal party. Many brides stress over their choice of bridesmaids because they’re afraid of hurting someone’s feelings. Do your part to support the new couple by being gracious about their decisions.

Funerals

Although attending a funeral is sad, it doesn’t have to be stressful. Bereaved family members just need to know you’re there and you care about them and their departed loved one. Here are a few ways you can show respect at a funeral.

  1. Don’t Draw Attention

The only funeral where you should get attention is your own. Wearing black and keeping your cell phone silenced are ways you can keep the focus off yourself and on the person whose life you’re celebrating. It’s also important to leave unruly children at home.

  1. Do Express Your Sympathy

Sending a card or flowers for the funeral is a kind way to show sympathy. However, nothing can replace the power of verbal affirmation and an in-person hug. Even if you don’t know what to say, it’s important to express your condolences as best you can.

  1. Show Support Afterward

Families grieve for a long time after a funeral. One of the best ways to support friends is to keep checking on them. If you are close, plan to spend extra time with them during the first few months after the funeral. Bringing them food and providing child care can also be helpful.

House Party

You don’t need to have a perfectly clean home or a fully stocked pantry to have people over. A little preparation can make house parties incredibly fun and stress-free for everyone involved. Here are three things to remember when inviting people over.

  1.  Anticipate Guests’ Needs

People are often nervous when coming to a new place for the first time. You can make the process as easy as possible for your guests by directing parking, showing them the bathroom, and anticipating any other needs like food and seating.

  1. Set a Relaxed Tone

Your house party doesn’t need to be perfect. In fact, the best memories are usually made when something goes wrong or there’s room for improvisation. Your guests will appreciate a clean bathroom, but you don’t need to scour the whole house before they come over.

  1. Work Ahead of Time

One of the best ways to enjoy your own party is to work ahead of time. Prep food, music, and additional elements for a movie or game night before your friends get there. After they arrive, you’ll be able to sit back and let the night unfold without any stressful distractions.

New Baby

Getting to meet a new baby is incredibly exciting, but there are many factors to consider before you head over to say congratulations. Keep these three things in mind when visiting parents and their new little one.

  1. Don’t Go if You’re Sick

Babies are more likely than adults to get sick because their immune systems haven’t been exposed to pathogens yet. Many new parents are also at risk because of a lack of sleep. Getting sick is the last thing their family needs during this time.

  1. Be Respectful of Decisions

Everyone has an opinion on baby names and the best way to raise children. However, parents are entitled to their decisions and need your support, not your criticism. Do what you can to support their choices and affirm their new role as parents.

  1. Ask to Hold the Baby

Some new parents will be thrilled for you to hold their baby, while others may prefer that you don’t. Everyone feels differently, so it’s respectful to ask before you try to pick up a baby. The same holds true for kissing one.

Practicing Politeness

Proper etiquette may feel like a list of random rules, but its goal is really quite simple. As long as you are considering how your behavior impacts others, you’ll have good manners that make every situation comfortable for everyone involved.

Use these tips to attend special occasions and life events with confidence. Over time, the practice of politeness will turn into an effortless habit that you can carry with you into every new situation.
