Casablanca Records releases Squid Game (Let’s Play) EP inspired by Squid Game, Netflix’s most-watched series – reaching over 142 million households globally. The brand-new EP features TOKiMONSTA’s new song entitled “The Flower Blooms.”  Squid Game (Let’s Play) EP also includes new music from ALOKCheat Codes, and MayTree.

Listen to Squid Game (Let’s Play) EP HERE via Casablanca Records.

TOKiMONSTA comments on “The Flower Blooms” and Squid Game. “Like so many, I watched Squid Games and loved it. As a Korean American, seeing this type of representation paired with boundary breaking acceptance is important for Asian minorities living in Western societies.  That being said, after watching it I felt inspired to write something unique and tied to my Korean roots. In Korean, the “Red Light, Green Light” moment is based on a Korean game I grew up with—the words actually saying “The hibiscus flower is blooming/blossoming.”  I created a fun song, using my own voice to sing the lyric in Korean.”

The history making South Korean Netflix series, Squid Game, follows Gi-hun.  Laid off and divorced with high-interest loans and a gambling debt, Gi-hun is at his wit’s end when a strange man presents him a business card featuring a circle, triangle and square. The man invites Gi-hun to a survival game. The prize money? 45.6 billion won. Grasping at straws, Gi-hun accepts the offer and lands himself in a mysterious place with a total of 456 participants; among them is Sang-woo, Gi-hun’s former neighbor who initially seemed to be living the high life, Il-nam the terminally ill elder, Sae-byeok the North Korean defector, Deok-su the gangster, Mi-nyeo the con artist and Ali the migrant worker. The rule is simple: Everyone has to participate in a well-known, classic childhood game. The stakes? Their lives. Winner takes all.  Trust no one, not even yourself.  Here, winning is the only thing that matters.

Squid Game has also been confirmed to have a second season.

Squid Game (Let’s Play) EP Tracklisting:

1. Alok “Squid Game (Let’s Play)”

2. Cheat Codes “Way Back Then (Squid Game Remix)”

3. TOKiMONSTA “The Flower Blooms”

4. MayTree “Squid Game (acapella)”

LA Art Show

The LA Art Show is Back

By Yash Thadani, Krish Narsinghani

Los Angeles’ longest-running art show returned Wednesday evening, January 23rd. The exhibition was held at the Los Angeles Convention center in the heart of Downtown LA. Immediately upon entering the venue, patrons were presented with a red carpet walkway leading to the south hall ballroom that featured work from numerous artists from around the world. Installations from Takashi Murakami to Banksy were all at arm’s-length available to purchase.

Venturing off to the back area of the hall guests were greeted by various vendors from DogHAUS to BuzzPop sampling their products. The event also had countless stands offering premium open bar services for the attendees. In addition, there was a lounge with embellished furniture and two champagne bars for VIP attendees.

This 2022 exposition has also integrated cutting-edge forms of digital media such as NFTs to create a depiction of emotional and alluring experience for the audience. Johnny “KMNDZ” was one of the many artists breaking barriers of digital art with a collection of nearly 900 exclusive NFTs that premiered at the LA Art Show

A crowd favorite was a portrayal of The Joker and Batman in a boxing ring. In true artistic irony, Batman was beaten and confused with The Joker standing over him being the clear winner. It was a distasteful paradox showing that bad guys sometimes do end up winning.

To top it off, the Off-White model and notably recognized international actress Kaia Gerber was the official host of the 2022 premiere party. As one of the largest international art fairs in the U.S. this occasion was the perfect place to view prominent artists and their work across a number of verticals including paintings, prints, sculptures and NFTs.

About the LA Art Show

Since 2015, LA Art Show has been a strong and unwavering supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® as it leads the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Japanese Breakfast

Tuesday, January 18, indie pop act Japanese Breakfast performed “Slide Tackle,” a track from their GRAMMY-nominated album, Jubilee, on The Late Show with James Corden. Michelle Zauner, applauded founder, did a ‘Bar Chat interview where she talked about these recent nominations and more. Watch Japanese Breakfast’s performance on The Late Show with James Corden HERE.

Jubilee released last June as one of the years leading, critically acclaimed albums. The album stole spots on Best Of lists for 2021 from Rolling Stone, People Magazine, Pitchfork, Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, NPR, Wall Street Journal, The Ringer, SPIN, Esquire, Vulture, The AV Club, Paste, Cosmopolitan, UPROXX, Consequence of Sound, Slant and Hypebeast. The album gained so much attention that it was even voted the #1 album of the year on NPR’s Listener’s Poll and #1 on UPROXX’s Critics Poll.

If that wasn’t enough success for one year, Zauner, too, published her New York Times Best Seller, Crying in H Mart, which is now being reworked for MGM’s Orion Pictures. The book is a moving memoir that captures Zauner’s experiences growing up Korean American, the struggles she went through with the death of her mother and how she navigated discovering her own identity.

About Michelle Zauner

The Korean American musician and author Michelle Zauner is renowned for her sonic demeanor. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Zauner grew up in Eugene, Oregon for most of her adolescence. Zauner took to music instantly, beginning to learn to play the piano at 5, later moving to the guitar at age 15. Her mother’s passing in 2014 lead to her starting Japanese Breakfast. She tells Teen Vogue, “I moved back to Oregon to care for her, and I kind of put the band on indefinite hiatus. Unfortunately, she passed away, and while I was in Oregon, helping take care of the house and being a support system for my dad, the only way that I could have something for myself was if I made my own record. So I kind of carved out some time to do that.” Japanese Breakfast’s debut came in 2016 with the hit album Psychopomp. Through the album, Zauner revealed the intense period that followed her mother’s death. Zauner’s unique perspective amongst mainstream pop music sets her apart from other artists, and she’s one you’ll want to take a listen to.

Rimac Technology automotive work via Rimac Technology for use by 360 MAGAZINE

RIMAC TECHNOLOGY

Ringing in the new year, the Rimac Group becomes its own entity as the Rimac Technology business.

Serving as a diverse company, Bugatti Rimac (active from November 21) falls within the clientele of the Rimac Technology business. The Rimac Group is a shareholder in Bugatti Rimac with 55% stake and Porsche with the following 45%. Rimac Group now owns the individual company of Rimac Technology. The fresh company has goals to develop its areas of expertise in the engineering, development, production and supply of differing systems that Rimac is renowned for – such as battery systems, electric drive units, electronic systems and user interface components.

A company with superior electronic expertise, Rimac Technology works closely with automotive manufacturers across Europe. These two realms collaborate in projects like the expansion of the Nevera, taking customers step by step through the process of product creation. Rimac Technology is especially known for their work with international OEMs such as Porsche, Hyundai, Kia, Automobili Pininfarina, Koenigsegg and Aston Martin, with other projects yet to be announced. With the development of Rimac Technology’s manufacturing capacities, the brand has goals to create tens of thousands of advanced systems per year by 2024.

The solely independent company works as an individual manufacturer, including sponsors into the Rimac Group business. Rimac Technology prioritizes clientele confidentiality with all projects, and that each endeavor will be completed to request of necessary cost, performance and within sufficient time.

Mate Rimac, CEO of Rimac Group, now heads both Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Technology. Although both the brands operate separately, they both work under Bugatti Rimac with shared R&B along with other roles. The potential of both Bugatti and Rimac automobiles will be corresponded to Bugatti Rimac, merging ideas and innovation in research and development, production and other areas.

Mate Rimac states, “If we go back to the very beginning of the Rimac Automobili business in 2009, the dream for me was to build my own electric hypercar. With Nevera we believe we’ve achieved that dream, creating a car that is not only the fastest accelerating in the world, but also comfortable, usable and brimming with our advanced technology. But Nevera isn’t just a standalone project, it’s a showcase of what Rimac Technology can do free from the costs or volume restraints of a large-scale manufacturer. We believe once you’ve pushed the technology as far as it can go, it makes it a lot easier to scale up to higher volume and lower cost. The e-Axles, Torque Vectoring, battery systems, connectivity, AI, and countless other electrical systems on Nevera are all our own creations, and each of them can be scaled to suit applications you might find on a range of higher volume performance vehicles.

Separating the technology business into its own entity is a natural step as the focus of the two markets, hypercars and components, are completely different. For example, the products of Rimac Technology, while being on the cutting edge of performance, also need to be extremely cost competitive and producible at huge scales, while those issues are secondary for the hypercar business. This new structure will enable each company of the Rimac Group to flourish to their full potential, while still sharing the synergies between them – for example using our own hypercars as testbeds for new technology before we offer it to other OEMs.”

Story Behind the Can

January 24th is National Beer Can Appreciation Day, which celebrates the historic and thirst-quenching day beer was first sold in cans! In celebration, here are a few of Elysian Brewing’s most iconic beer cans through the years including Salt & Seed, the hit summer seasonal rose released last year which features a photograph of an actual watermelon, and Dayglow, which showcases a tiger with laser beams shooting out of its eyes (yes, you read that right).

The in-house design team at Seattle-based craft brewery Elysian Brewing is known for its art-forward approach to beer can creation. The small design team is constantly pushing the boundaries and exploring how they can drive excitement and inspiration through label design, often through a mixed-medium and DIY creative take on label design.

The creativity and imagination that goes into their labels are endless, leading to everything from sculptures, photography, and even shampoo being featured on product labels. In celebration of the upcoming holiday, the Elysian design team talked about their favorite labels throughout the years.

Dayglow IPA

Elysian Design Team: “What company proudly puts a tiger shooting laser beams out of its eyes on a bottle and pushes print? As ridiculous as the concept seems, the visual was a hit. Dayglow was the winner of the 2014 Beverage World Global Packaging Design Awards, paving the way and setting a standard for all future Elysian label designs to come.”

Mother Pig Fresh Hop IPA

Elysian Design TeamL “The art for Mother Pig was inspired by the hop picker at the farm that provided the hops for this IPA. The picker is a specialized machine the growers refer to as ‘Mother Pig’ as it herds up all the little piglets (Hop bines).”

Salt and Seed Watermelon Gose

Elysian Design Team: “This tongue-in-cheek ‘still life’ reveals itself as an impossible object; similar to a ship-in-bottle, it begs out consumers to question—’how the heck did they do that?’ The creation of this label was done in-house and all by hand for an elaborate, albeit lo-fi photoshoot.”

Thanks, It’s Cashmere Hazy IPA

Elysian Design Team: “This label was a first in our history in that it cleverly highlighted the hop used within its name, leaned into it, and turned it into a full-on story. It set a high bar for beers following its footsteps and reimagined what it means to write a beer description.”
