Newport Car Museum

Established as a cherished attraction for car lovers, the Newport Car Museum in Portsmouth, R.I. has become a business success story like no other in the car world. Despite bringing in tourists from other popular landmarks in Newport like the Gilded Age Mansions and the seaside attractions of Newport, the Museum has set itself aside as an established and longstanding attraction in Rhode Island.

Opened just four and a half years ago, the number of visitors that the Museum has drawn in in just 2021 alone is exponential. Nearly 50,000 people have been welcomed into the museum this past year, and the numbers are expected to only continue to rise in the coming new year. Throughout the short period that the Museum has been opened, it has won numerous awards and has been compared to other top celebrated car museums like Florida’s Rev Institute and California’s Peterson Automotive Museum. In 2021, the Newport Car Museum was named amongst the Top 10% of Attractions Worldwide and was presented with the Tripadvisor® Travelers’ Choice award.

Gunther Buerman and his wife Maggie Buerman started the museum in June of 2017. The Buerman’s poured their heart and soul into accomplishing the success story of the Museum thus far. Gunther Buerman states, “Our hope always has been to put smiles on our visitors’ faces, and so far, we have been successful.”

The Buerman’s admit that they did not know how the public would react to the Museum, and just how they would truly convey their collection of unique and exotic cars as a true museum. The first step in opening up the Museum started with obtaining a space fit to house the cars that they had, but a space that would also allow them to grow the collection. The facility that they bestowed upon was a past missile manufacturing facility on the campus of Raytheon Technologies. The building, coming in at a whopping 114,000 square feet, came with 17 acres of grounds. The building itself had to be reconfigured and constructed to support the Buerman’s then collection of 65 cars. The 17 acres was transformed into grounds that would allow for the Museum to hold varying events like car clubs and shows. That ground eventually also was turned into a free parking lot for visitors with the ability to hold up to 300 cars.

Now, the Museum’s exhibit encompasses over 80,000 square feet and consists of 85 cars in six various Galleries – Ford/Shelby, Corvettes, World Cars, Fin Cars, American Muscle and Mopars – with a Pop-Up Porsche Exhibit as well. Distinct enrichments that encompass the Museum include specially made artwork, historical videos and a collection of Mid-Century Modern furniture, which works as seating. The Museum even has a gift shop that contains various items made just for car lovers.

“The Museum is now sought out directly by those traveling to New England looking for experiences that mean something to them,” said Buerman on the significance of the Museum and its visitors. “Our audience is in large part car aficionados and art lovers. Some have travelled to see as many different car museums as they can in this country, and they tell us how amazed they are at what they find here. They appreciate the art gallery ambience, the beauty of the cars and the rich automotive history represented by each decade of design, starting with the early 1950s and finishing with new models from the 21st Century.”

The Newport Car Museum is open on a daily basis from 10-5. Tickets can be bought at the door of the Museum, or online at www.newportcarmuseum.org.

Regular admission: $18/adults; $15/Seniors, Military, Students; $8/Ages 5-15 (with an adult); Free/Ages 4 and under (with an adult)

CIAN DUCROT NEWEST RELEASE

RELEASES HIS DEBUT EP, MAKE BELIEVE

OUT NOW ON DARKROOM/INTERSCOPE RECORDS

CHOSEN AS ONE OF AMAZON MUSIC’S ‘ARTIST TO WATCH’ IN 2022!

RELEASES LIVE VISUALIZER FOR SINGLE “HAPPIER WITHOUT ME”

Praise for Cian Ducrot

“…rooted in a refreshing sense of honesty.” — CLASH

“Infectious and exactly what you need to listen to if you’re caught up in your ~ feels ~” — Ones To Watch

“A phenomenal songwriter” — Jack Saunders (BBC Radio 1)

Irish songwriter, producer and artist Cian Ducrot has released his debut EP titled Make Believe. Composed of eight emotively poignant tunes that spotlights Cian’s mastery in songwriting and melody making, Make Believe EP stands to be the young artist’s strongest foot forward in his debut year. This was also taken notice by Amazon Music who have included Cian in their ‘Artist to Watch in 2022’ programming. Each song delves into the deeply emotional renderings of Cian’s own past and present, allowing for anthemic ballads like “Make Believe” and “Not Usually Like This” while tracks like “Crocodiles” and “Hello Gorgeous” wrench the heart harder in its reflection.

Speaking about the EP, Cian says:

“Making this EP was a very strange but amazing process for me as half of the songs were written before I even knew I was making an EP. It’s been years in the making and pulls from so many moments in my life. I have loved discovering new directions and new music and also rediscovering old songs and bringing them to life and, most of all, discovering myself and what matters to me. Most of the EP was made throughout lockdown and the pandemic so it was a lot of days and nights alone and of course on the other side of the planet away from my team at Darkroom & Interscope.” — Cian Ducrot

In celebration of the EP’s release, Cian has also released a beautiful live visualizer for the EP single “Happier Without Me” — a track he teased on his many live shows across the U.K. and adored by many fans upon its performance.

Make Believe Tracklist — EP by Cian Ducrot

  1. Crocodiles
  2. Chewing Gum
  3. Not Usually Like This
  4. Make Believe
  5. Know Me Again
  6. Happier Without Me
  7. Hello Gorgeous
  8. Blue

With live shows on the horizon, more than 28 million artist streams to date, his first EP released via Darkroom/Interscope Records, and a place on Amazon Music’s ‘Artists To Watch 2022’ list, Cian Ducrot continues to grow as an artist ahead of a much anticipated breakout year in 2022

About Cian Ducrot

Raised in Cork and based in London but just as likely to be found recording in LA, Cian Ducrot takes a nomadic approach to pop music. Home for this 24-year-old singer, songwriter, producer and classically-trained multi-instrumentalist is wherever he happens to find his laptop and guitar — but no matter where he is. Growing up in a broken home, Cian sought relief in music, listening to his Mum playing everything from Bach to Chopin — often finding that music was a way to escape the trials of abuse, a turbulent family dynamic and more. It’s no surprise that he went on to focus on music in school, joining musicals, drama clubs, mastered different instruments and performing from a young age. Cian will eventually win a full scholarship to study classical flute at the Royal Academy of Music — one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in the world. Around the same time, Cian knew that to create original music he would have to teach himself how to produce. And so he did.

A couple of years into his schooling, Cian took a short trip to Los Angeles, CA — a trip that inspired him to pursue his dream of becoming a pop artist instead of a classical flautist. He decided to take a risk leaving his schooling (and the full ride scholarship that came with it) and moved back to Ireland to plan for his new dream. Cian was steadfast in his new writing journey, with money being tight he would often couch surf between London and L.A. The product of these experiences was his debut release; started in college (2020) — a mixtape that chronicles his unconventional road into the music industry. The risk ended up paying off when he was discovered by Darkroom/Interscope Records last Summer; promptly signed him to the label. Capitalizing on his natural talent and years of dedication, the Irish songwriter/producer and artist is at work on a new project and aims to showcase his diverse talents exploring revealing issues of love, loss, masculinity and frustration. Cian wishes to create music that listeners can relate to and find solace in – not unlike how a young Cian once did.

Colin in Black & White – Limited Netflix Series

By: Rumnik K Ghuman

Colin in Black & White is a new limited Netflix series recently released in October. This series is following Colin Kaepernick through his journey in high school as he had to face multiple issues as a black child who had white parents. During high school, Colin was a straight-A student who also played football, basketball, and baseball all year round. This 6 episode series attacked multiple issues a black child sees, but it was even harder since his parents didn’t understand how to explain to Colin why he was treated differently or had to work twice as hard to prove himself to the world. 360 Magazine is pleased to write something regarding this series as this is only available for a certain time period and is accessible only in a few states.

To begin with some history why is this series so special to watch. It’s about ex-football player, Colin Kaepernick, who had kneeled in protest to police brutality and racial inequality during the national anthem back in 2016. Since then Kaepernick was not drafted by any team which quickly ended his career. This series truly shows what a black child goes through in a huge population of white superiority. Kaepernick played six seasons for the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL with 13 rushing touchdowns. It’s crazy to even think that a kneel would affect a football player’s entire career, but he wasn’t the only one to do it. The reason why he got so much hate was that he was the first.

Each episode had an individual topic or issue brought up and focused on. Some topics were about appearances, as the braids were a big symbol of being a Thug apparently, which if you looked up what a thug actually means it’s defined as a violent person, especially a criminal. This includes no definition of how a thug looks like. This is the black culture that was given a label to place black people into a box of judgment. The next episode was the introduction of discrimination that made Colin realize he was going to be treated very differently compared to his peers. As a scene of him going out of town to witness how he was being watched as he was the only black person in the hotel for a baseball game. This kept going into how the world viewed black people in general. Colin was always told to take the easy way out, never really challenge himself. He had a great arm in baseball, but something about being rejected for football made him want to do it more than anything. This idea of rejection and always being the second choice came for him since day one from his birth parents. Colin was given up for adoption as a 5-week baby, and for his adoptive parents, he wasn’t the first choice either. Some other topics brought up were the standard of beauty and how black beauty was looked down upon compared to white people. There were certain acts that were very questionable of Colin’s parents that you can see in the show. Some more topics were of acceptance and perseverance to be the greatest.

One aspect that really stood apart from this series was that it was not just a biopic. It was narrated by Colin Kaepernick and he would compare some situations that happened to him to the history of black people or even black athletics. One thing brought up was the idea of being perfect as black people. This goes back to slavery when slaves were bought based on how perfect they were body-wise to achieve good work and worth in a buyer’s eye. Colin compared this to how black athletics were examed so deeply to make sure they are in good shape and perfect. Multiple other athletics came up and what they had to go through in order to bring to light that this isn’t the first time something had happened. Allen Iverson, a Basketball player for the NBA, was attacked for his braids and the way he dressed. Romare Bearden, a baseball player for the National League, was told to play like a white man and had to fit in.  Ava DuVernay, Director of Colin in Black & White, brought a big aspect of history for children to understand what racism is about. This show was so simple and lighthearted that all kids of any age will understand and learn something much better than what they are taught in schools.

This show has gotten a mixed reaction as most supporters of Kaepernick’s have been on his side from the moment he had kneeled. This series does attack multiple parts of the government and certain names and photos have been shown of the previous United States President, Donald Trump. It was interesting to hear that this was a limited series and only available to watch in a certain number of states. In the history of streaming services, no movie or series has been limited for no reason. This is a very controversial topic as it includes Colin Kaepernick’s entire story and he had received a huge amount of hate. Many still think that the racists in America got a platform to become more vocal of their opinion was because of President Donald Trump which led to the end of Kaepernick’s football career. The amount of risk that went into this series is huge, but the love and support of the audience had this show rated in the top 10 on Netflix.

To end off this article, some phrases that Colin Kaepernick used to express what this world uses against black people were for example, “groomed in a system……always the second choice…..intensional built this way…..a white man’s stamp of approval.” You can see how much of government, history, and judgment goes into the way people don’t change their perspective about black people. After being an athlete all his life, Colin Kaepernick finally found what he was truly born for to be a civil rights activist

Bollywood Box Office vs. Streaming Services

By: Rumnik K Ghuman

As the entire world has come to enjoy being at home and watching their favorite movie stars at the ease of their sofas. Bollywood directors and producers now release the future scope of streaming services within India. Due to the pandemic and having two strict lockdowns, no movies were released in the theatres or as it’s said in Bollywood the Box Office. Box Office India is the home for the latest movie news from India, this platform gives information about how much money each movie is earning in the theatres, what the critics have to say, and multiple awards are given out based on the Box Office data. What’s interesting is why are the movies released on streaming services, Netflix or Amazon Video Prime, not included in the count of the Box Office data?

There are pros and cons to releasing a movie in theatres. Some positive things are the fact of getting more accurate data about how much gross the film has achieved, the number of people who actually went to the movie theatres, and to be acknowledged on a big platform in India. The ranking you get in the box office is very important to each actor’s career. The negative things are that your audience only sees the movie for a limited time period, they only pay once for the film, and they have to leave their houses in order to see the movie.

Compared to streaming services, a huge number of fans can see the movies at the ease of their homes with only paying a monthly fee for a service where they can watch any movie or show unlimited times. The gross will not be counted when releasing a movie via streaming services, but it does give more views for anyone to see the movie for multiple years based on the contract with the streaming services as well as how well the movie itself does on the platform. Not many negative things have come out of streaming services as it’s a universal service now and almost everyone has access to it. Its been a big decision for multiple directors and producers to make the switch of only releasing on streaming services and not being known in the Box Office.

Some streaming services released multiple Hindi movies since the pandemic has begun. Some which were very controversial topics or include some major events that happened in Indian history, for example, Udham Singh, a freedom fighter in 1947, Shershah, a story about an army officer who lead a mission that led him to die at the age of 26, and Mimi, a struggling dancer needs money to get a role in a movie and she goes into being a surrogate for a white couple. These movies were well-praised and multiple people wanted them to be in the Box Office as they would have ranked very highly on the list of movies this year.  These movies have a great and effective storyline that was unfair for the creators as they reached multiple people in India compared to the theatres. Some other movies that didn’t get the appreciation they should have were Meenakshi Sundareshwar and Sherni, these two movies didn’t promote as much, but still did well as they are more progressive movies.

The audience worldwide was very pleased to gain a more broad option of movies through streaming services and enjoy that they can watch all these movies on the first day of release and access it as many times or even replay it. Streaming services have grown very late in India as most of Bollywood followed the cinema route, but streaming services have brought more opportunities for small artists to get time to shine and blow up their acting, directing, or writing careers. Multiple producers are saving on money as they only have to promote online via social media and release parties are optional now. More controversial topics are coming up in the movie industry and have brought more light for Indian society to have a broad state of opinions. Releasing movies on streaming services gives more attention to Indian movies as more of an international audience can see the movie and watch it with subtitles. People are able to watch their movies on replay or whenever they want to so this gives more views to the movies. This count of lasting views brings more attention to movies in a multiple-year span rather than just a couple of weeks as compared to the Box Office.

The growth of Bollywood has been great as it expanded to more series rather than movies. As the countries population has grown to love the series that are on streaming services, they like having a longer storyline and creating a fanbase for certain star casts. It’s interesting to see how much has changed because of the pandemic, which has expanded Bollywood to international countries. Bollywood has started to create web series on different platforms they have created themselves within the industry. It’s commendable how fast series have been growing especially the culture of binge-watching in India. As it is very common for daily soap shows that release an episode every day, but now audiences would like to see the entire series in one sitting. This is slowly affecting channels that are very popular in India to this day. Multiple tv channels, for example, Star Plus, Colors TV, and Sony Entertainment Television have created their own streaming services to give more content to multiple people. In India, they call it OTT as a term that stands for “Over The Top” media services in some sense. The amount of movies, shows are releasing via these streaming services is quite the talk in Bollywood to even release movies in Theatres at this point.

360 Magazine is pleased to see a new start of web series for Bollywood, but there is something special about Hindi movies that represent Bollywood. Bollywood and the tv industry are very important in India and seeing that change can be a positive or negative thing. Only certain people can make that judgment.
