Millennials × Spirits Making a Difference In The World

It is no secret that millennials are making changes in the world around us every day. From social justice, equality, politics, climate change, and social media, the world is changing every day because of them.

Millennials outnumber Gen X and will soon outnumber Baby Boomers among voters. Not only have they revolutionized the economy, but they have also shifted today’s culture in many ways. For example, millennials are well-known for how much they use social media. The millennial generation uses social media as a voice to reach hundreds, or even thousands, of people worldwide. Because of how they use social media, they are forever changing human interaction.

Millennials are making significant changes every day, and one of those changes is in alcohol trends.

In the last few years, millennials have become more focused on the quality of alcohol and the variety of flavors the alcohol industry offers. The demand for beer has decreased within the last decade while wine, whisky, vodka, and other spirits have grown.

Millennials have become more conscious of the quality and ingredients in alcohol than their Baby Boomer and Gen X counterparts. Nowadays, millennials are looking for value and health benefits in exchange for their money and are looking more at hand-crafted and artisanal alcohol products.

Many vodka brands are borrowing tactics from gin because of these changes. They are moving to a much lighter serve and lower-alcohol offerings to appeal to the millennial generation. Many of these brands are becoming “healthy” alcohols by removing sugars and adding botanical flavors.

Glasgow Distillery Company‘s co‐founder Mike Hayward says, “The success of gin has opened up the consumer’s thirst for new and interesting products that have botanicals and natural flavor at the core. We see this as a great opportunity to attract consumers to the vodka category by creating a range of products that meet the desire for interesting and innovative spirits presented in a new and exciting way.”

One vodka brand is taking a few ideas from the millennial generation and using their social responsibility to donate to groups trying to change the world while making a “smooth, crisp, and warming sipper.”

Organika Vodka, founded in 2016 in Russia, focuses on the ideals of sustainability in all forms. From locally sourcing renewable resources in the Lake Baikal region to working side-by-side by the indigenous people and developing a biodegradable spirits bottle, this company is striving toward showing just how much of a difference a company can make toward sustainability and ecological consciousness. By creating a more ecologically conscious alcohol, Organika is changing the industry for the better.

There are three varieties of Organika Vodka: Organika, Organika Life, and Organika White Truffle. While each kind is made with highly oxygenated water from Lake Baikal and 100% grain BIO spirit, they each have one ingredient that differentiates them.

Organika is made with Siberian Larch Extract, which can be found in different parts of the world, while the most valuable species is found in Siberia. It is said that Siberian Larch is known for strengthening blood vessels, which makes it a natural aphrodisiac.

A well-known tonic called sagan-daila is used to create Organika Life. Sagan-daila means “life-giving” and is said to stimulate the brain, kidneys, and heart activity. It is also said to relieve fatigue and hangovers.

Organika White Truffle is made with not only sagan-daila but also the white truffle mushroom, which is said to rejuvenate the body and “positively influences the men’s power.”

Not only does this company focus on being sustainable and ecologically conscious, but they are also focused on the preservation of rare animals like the Amur Tiger, the Far Eastern leopard, the snow leopard, and the polar bear.

The majority of their charitable donations are given to the World Wildlife Fund who actively sought out the brand for a partnership after being “so moved” by Organika’s efforts in rare animal preservation. Even during the height of COVID-19, Organika continued to support its partners.

If there is one thing millennials also care about significantly, it is most definitely animals. Suppose millennials cannot get behind a sustainable and ecologically conscious vodka brand that is making significant changes in wildlife. In that case, I am not sure what they would get behind. Not only does Organika use organic ingredients and locally source them, but they are also donating toward saving animals all around the world. I would say that is a win-win on both accounts.

With millennials caring more about what is in their drinks than the experience of drinking them, it is no surprise that vodka companies are making changes in their production.

In an interview with Forbes, Jonathan Hemi, the managing partner of Crystal Head Vodka, said, “Clean, additive-free, high-quality liquid is where we see opportunities as well in different expressions through different types of grains.” In other words, clean and sustainable alcohol is creating more opportunities for vodka brands like Organika to make significant changes in the alcohol industry.

Organika has recently signed contracts with the Miami Dolphins and the Breakthru Beverage Group in Florida, expanding their reach into the United States from Russia and Germany.

The contract with the Miami Dolphins sees Organika at the Hard Rock Stadium from the 2021 season to the 2023 season. Fans of the Dolphins will be able to experience Organika vodka and Organika Life. They are also planning on using aluminum cups instead of traditional plastic for their drinks in the stadium.

The partnership with Breakthru Beverage opens new sales and distribution opportunities in Florida for Organika Vodka in the ultra-premium vodka category while also distributing the brand into 14 different states and Canada.

Sustainability and change are essential for both millennials and Organika Vodka to thrive. Not only can millennials help Organika change the world for wildlife, but Organika can also produce clean and eco-conscious alcohol for millennials. Both of these groups are working to change the world differently, but imagine what they could do working together. With the social-media-hungry millennials, there is no telling just how much Organika can achieve with its mission of preserving wildlife.

Savage Spider – Man

Superstar writer Joe Kelly just finished taking Peter Parker on the most action-packed, pulse-pounding, adrenaline-pumping adventure in Spider-Man history in NON-STOP SPIDER-MAN! And he’s only just getting started… Spinning out of NON-STOP SPIDER-MAN this February comes SAVAGE SPIDER-MAN! Written by Kelly and featuring the distinctive and dynamic talents of artist Gerardo Sandoval, this all-new limited series will feature Spider-Man like you’ve never seen him…

Peter Parker finds himself at the middle of the biggest, most wide-ranging adventure he’s ever had and it has turned him into a savage beast! Forget everything you know about Spider-Man. All rules and regulations are out the door and Peter Parker may never be the same!

“You may think you’ve seen a monstrous or vicious Spider-Man before, but never like this,” says Spider-Editor Nick Lowe. “This book is so intense that you’re going to need to put it down between pages to get your breath back.”

Spider-Man is always a huge challenge to draw, he’s not an easy character for an artist. But at the same time Spider-Man is a huge joy to draw and now we have a Savage Spider-Man who provides an even bigger challenge for an artist,” says Sandoval. “I have the pages that I am working on and I can say that I am doing my best work here for sure. Joe Kelly is the kind of writer that understands an artist needs enough room to create great illustrations and it makes my work easier and more fun. I really hope you enjoy this new book as much as I do!”

Best Places to Buy a Halloween Costume

By: Skyler Johnson

Looking for Halloween costumes can be difficult, especially when there are so many costumes and places to choose from! It’s hard to know where to look, especially since so many of the year’s most popular costumes require either a high knowledge of sewing or high a payment at a costume shop. Chances are you might be able to find a Bridgerton dress in your grandmother’s attic, but a Harley Quinn bat or a Cruella wig might be harder. So, I’ve examined a list of over twenty different online retailers to find the best places to buy from, considering price, quality, and selection. I’ve done my research and looked at all the biggest costumes for 2021, including Wanda Maximoff and Loki from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to determine the best overall options. Here are the best outfits for…

Your Wallet

Overall, Amazon and Party City have the lowest costs. Because of Amazon’s wide selection, you’re likely to find inexpensive stuff and a wide variety if you just do some digging. You may spend more at Party City, but shipping is from a store location and not an individual seller, so shipping in this case can be cheaper. If you don’t want to support either of those large businesses, you may be out of luck. Shopping on smaller online shops like Candy Apple may provide you with cheaper goods, but you’ll have to do a bit of digging and  might not get attire in the condition that you’re hoping for. Another solution is to consider thrifting your Halloween costume. While it is unlikely that you will find a brand new, full, cost-effective costume, thrifting can be a great way to find several pieces at a good price over time if you are planning on being a more modern character.

Your Specific Taste

Obsessed with dressing like a Squid Game character after your latest binge watch? Although the show just came out, there are already retailers who’ve designed the show’s iconic jumpsuits and mask for costumed purposes. Amazon again is the most reliable deliverer with its wide user base, having the full Squid Game outfit. But Walmart has a decent selection as well. Furthermore, I’ve found is the best place to buy black gloves for an Olivia Rodrigo “Good 4 u” inspired look. You can find some bizarre stuff on Etsy, including unique, well-made garments, jewelry, or period pieces. For sexy getups, check out Yandy. They have a hot and steamy selection for the holiday.

Your Need for the Best Quality

On every site, the caliber will differ, besides a few retail stores with online options (i.e. Party City, Spirit Halloween) where the worth will be consistent but not necessarily the best quality (particularly Party City). Again, Amazon takes the cake in terms of value just from the selection they have and the large number of reviews, proving them as a reliable option. Other stores can be a gamble as they tend to not have the best reviews, and pictures can only say so much.

Your Kids

One of my favorite stores for kids’ selection is Target, which offers different apparel for different age groups, making it easier for parents to know whether an outfit will fit their child. Target is a relatively cost-efficient option as well. For a bit pricier but higher quality option, the Disney store can also be a great fit for those wanting an Elsa dress/wig, or any other Disney or Marvel character for your little prince, princess, or hero!

Conclusion

Halloween is a wonderfully fun holiday and there are many great places to buy party garbs for spooky season. Amazon is probably still the most reliable and consistent due to their high volume of product movement, but there are many great places to check out for those who, understandably, don’t want to support Jeff Bezos. Happy shopping, and happy Halloween!

Marcel Spears Q×A

360 Magazine is always looking for up and coming creators just about to make the breakthrough to total stardom. We think actor Marcel Spears, who’s best known for his time on The Neighborhood, is just about to make that breakthrough. We we’re lucky enough to speak to Spears about his work and what’s to come for the up and coming actor.

How much have you enjoyed your time on The Neighborhood?

I can’t really quantify just how much joy this show has brought me. I get to wake up every day and do what I love, with people that I genuinely have fun working with. I am having the best time.

What’s it been like working with Cedric the Entertainer

Working with Cedric really has matured me as an artist and as a businessman. The benefit of working with someone of Cedric’s caliber is you can’t help but to bring your best. He is a teacher, a jokester, a leader, and a mentor – all in one. It is exactly what I would have dreamed it would be like.

How has New Orleans and New York shaped you as an artist and performer?

When I was in graduate school at Columbia University, my mentor, Brandon Dirden, said to me, “don’t let them train your grannie out of you.” Essentially, this meant to not forget my roots as I grow as an artist. New Orleans is my base, my ‘roux’. It is where all my raw materials as an actor are rooted. My deepest joys, tragedies, and triumphs are there. Growing up in a city with so much life will always be evident in my work. I get my flavor from NOLA. New York gave me a place to prove myself. It is a hard city as its reputation has warned so many artists before me. You really can make it anywhere if you can make it there. New York is where I cut my teeth. I am grateful for my time in both places.

If you could work alongside any actor/actress dead or alive who would it be?

I have a very long hit list of artists I want to work with, but I’ll give you just a few: Wendell Pierce, Viola Davis, Aunjanue Ellis, Anthony Mackie, Billy Porter, Daniel Radcliffe, Sarah Paulson, Brian Tyree Henry. It is a very long list, but I do hope to slowly check people off as I go on.

How important do you think it is for shows like The Neighborhood to address social issues like systemic racism? Does it make you proud to be on a show that addresses these issues?

Nina Simone said, “an artist’s duty is to reflect the times” and I have kept that in the back of my mind in every job I have ever done. Whether I’m working on a completely ridiculous comedy or when I get the chance to do heavy dramatic roles I always ask myself, “what is this role saying about us right now?” I’m so incredibly proud to be on a show that has the ability to bring laughter and unpack really challenging issues. I think all great sitcoms have been able to do that. I’m honored to be a part of a show that holds a mirror up to our audience in the hope that we see each other a little more clearly each episode.

What’s next for Marcel Spears?

Everything. I want to do so much. I am writing, I want to direct, I want to produce, I am pursuing more dramatic roles so I can flex that muscle as an artist. I am so inspired by all of my peers and all of the work I’m seeing. I am ready to take on more projects, and really show what I can do.

Israel Philharmonic Returns to U.S

Israel Philharmonic Returns to the U.S. with Quartet Performances at Miami Gala

The Philharmonic celebrates its 85th anniversary in the U.S. after the cancellation of 2020-2021 tour due to COVID-19

American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (AFIPO) announced a series of galas headlined by an Israel Philharmonic string quartet in seven U.S. cities this December, including a Gala in Miami on December 2nd supported by the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. The events mark the first international performances after more than a year under lockdown and coincide with the Philharmonic’s return to its home concert hall for its 85th season.

“As the world emerges from a global pandemic—and as our institution returns from the first hiatus in its storied history—we believe that experiencing the music of the Israel Philharmonic in person is a needed force for joy and healing,” said Danielle Ames Spivak, CEO and Executive Vice President of AFIPO. “The Israel Philharmonic was founded during an unprecedented crisis—to save Jewish musicians fleeing the Holocaust. Resiliency is the lifeblood of our orchestra, and we are proud to once again emerge from this period of hardship stronger than ever before.”

The galas will kick off in New York on December 1st with host Bar Refaeli and will honor prominent patrons and friends of the institution, including “Jeweler to the Stars” and philanthropist Lorraine Schwartz (New York), Jewish education revolutionary and philanthropist Harold Grinspoon (Miami), and renowned philanthropists  Barbro & Bernard Osher and Varda Rabin (San Francisco).

“We are thrilled to be honoring Harold Grinspoon—not only for his visionary leadership in creating programming that reaches families from all walks of life but also for demonstrating the power of sharing literacy and the arts,” said Ames Spivak. “The Harold Grinspoon Foundation and its flagship program, PJ Library, are vital programming partners that allow us to bring the music of the Israel Philharmonic to our youngest generations.”

The string quartet is comprised of Israel Philharmonic Concertmaster David Radzynski, violinist Polina Yehudin, violist Yoni Gertner, and Principal Cello Haran Meltzer.

“The Philharmonic is Israel’s preeminent cultural ambassador,” said Jim Ackerman, President of the AFIPO Board of Directors. “Bringing a string quartet—one of the most extraordinary and historic chamber music ensembles—to the United States is the premier way to showcase the incredible talent Israel has to offer.”

NFT Trophy for Goal of Euro 2020

First NFT Trophy for UEFA EURO 2020 Goal of the Tournament presented to Patrik Schick

On 15 October, the first NFT trophy for the UEFA EURO 2020 goal of the tournament was awarded. The award was initiated by Gazprom, an official partner of the tournament, and was handed to the Czech national football team forward Patrik Schick. Russian calligrafuturism artist Pokras Lampas was invited to design the award.

“Gazprom is a modern and technological company. By combining sports, high technology and art, and creating the first sports trophy of this kind, we have drawn a clear parallel with our unique production technology,” Gazprom Department Head and Press Secretary of the Gazprom Management Committee Chairman Sergey Kupriyanov said.

“I found my inspiration in the idea of the project, with the common nine values we share with Gazprom and the “Football for Friendship” Programme. These values, as well as football itself, unite people all over the world”, said the artist Pokras Lampas.

During the award ceremony, the central fragment of the NFT trophy was presented – a black and gold soccer ball with orbits containing the name of Gazprom’s International Children’s Social Programme “Football for Friendship” and its nine values: friendship, equality, justice, health, peace, loyalty, victory, tradition, and honour. Its hologram is located at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

“We welcomed the initiative shown by Gazprom, our long-standing UEFA partner, to bring a fresh outlook on such kinds of awards. Gazprom’s Goal of the Tournament trophy is a unique event in the history of world sports. We look forward to even closer cooperation with Gazprom and realization of new initiatives supporting and developing world football,” – emphasized Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Marketing Director.

“I am very proud to be the first in the history of football to receive this kind of trophy. To be honest, I have never seen something like this before” – said Patrik Schick, the footballer who scored the EURO 2020 goal of the tournament.

ALLISON PONTHIER – LATE BLOOMER

ALLISON PONTHIER’S NEW SINGLE, “LATE BLOOMER,” IS OUT TODAY

WATCH THE VISUALIZER HERE

Fresh off a tour with Lord Huron, a festival performance at Austin City Limits, and the release of her debut EP, Faking My Own Death (Interscope Records), Allison Ponthier returns with a simmering, swampy anthem for those who need a little time to come to terms with their sexuality. While her debut single, “Cowboy,” dealt with the difficulties of coming out, “Late Bloomer” portrays the process as a joyful one. Listen HERE.

“‘Late Bloomer’ is about how much fun coming out is. A lot of people describe it as going through a second puberty. You learn a lot about yourself,” explains Allison Ponthier. “That’s why when people come out, they often change how they look aesthetically. They try new things and make new friends. ‘Late Bloomer’ is really about celebrating that. It’s about the reward you get for finally being brave enough to be yourself. There’s no rush. There will always be people there who are ready for you whenever you’re ready.”

The 25-year-old Texas-born, Brooklyn-based artist wrote “Late Bloomer” with Ethan Gruska (Phoebe Bridgers, Trombone Shorty) and Dan Wilson (Adele, Leon Bridges), who also produced the song. The accompanying visualizer, which takes its inspiration from Little Shop of Horrors and “as-seen-on-TV” marketing, introduces a Muppet-like “late bloomer” plant, skilled at skateboarding, karaoke, tattoo art and more. View HERE.

“It’s basically just about being a bad boy, which I always wish I was,” she confesses.

Ponthier and Lord Huron are featured in the first video installment of Consequence of Sound’s new series, “Two for the Road,” which features conversations with artists who are touring together. View HERE. Check out their recent collaboration, “I Lied,” HERETipping Ponthier as one of the “Artists Guaranteed to Turn Heads at ACL Fest,” The Austin Chronicle said, “The touches of pop linger in a swaying haze that cabarets her country-leaning melodies, resulting in the kind of surreal Western pop that swells the sense of dislocation and uncertainty while beckoning warmly to follow.”

Growing up as a wide-eyed misfit in the Lone Star State, Ponthier dreamed of running away to New York City. When she made the move to Brooklyn at age 20, she felt out-of-place in a new way – like a goody-two-shoes Southerner in the epicenter of East Coast hipsterdom. The corresponding internal journey has inspired the string of reflective, idiosyncratic yet relatable songs found on Faking My Own Death, hailed as “stellar” by NME.

DMX Estate Given to Family

DMX‘s ex wife, Tashera Simmons oldest sons , Xavier Simmons, Sean Simmons and Tacoma Simmons have been appointed temporary co-administrators of the estate of Earl “DMX” Simmons pursuant to a decision of the Westchester county Surrogate’s Court today. They will now exclusively manage the affairs of their late father’s estate.  The estate has retained entertainment attorney Ron Sweeney of Ron Sweeney and Company to exclusively handle all entertainment related matters.  Estate Attorney, Herb Nass is the attorney for the Earl “DMX” Simmons estate and the sons as co-administrators..”

When it comes to DMX, a man blessed with a vicious bark of a voice, there is no such thing as half-stepping. Born Earl Simmons in 1970, the Yonkers-raised MC arrived as the physical embodiment of unbridled energy—a one-man distillation of fellow rugged New York acts like Wu-Tang Clan. With the release of his 1998 debut, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, DMX wrapped himself in musical aggression that enhanced his imposing presence across songs like the minimal, clanging “Get at Me Dog,” and rowdy breakout “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem.” But X scaled back the pugnacity on that same album’s introspective “How’s It Goin’ Down,” which featured angelic vocals from R&B’s Faith Evans and painted a vivid picture of a complex relationship headed down the wrong path.

DMX would revisit that sensitivity on “Slippin’,” a heart-rending track from 1998’s Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood that found him expressing a desire to live a less tumultuous life. As at odds as the rapper’s two sides may seem to be, he’s always thrived most while letting his emotions fly unrestrained. In 2000, he released ...And Then There Was X, where even the anthemic “Party Up” served as a prime example of DMX’s uniquely intense take on hardcore hip-hop. But whether ferocious, amped up, or introspective, the MC has remained grounded by his faith, which, especially in the later years of his career, he approaches with nothing short of absolute devotion.

Following the deaths of Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G., DMX took over as the undisputed reigning king of hardcore rap. He was that rare commodity: a commercial powerhouse with artistic and street credibility to spare. His rapid ascent to stardom was actually almost a decade in the making, which gave him a chance to develop the theatrical image that made him one of rap’s most distinctive personalities during his heyday. Everything about DMX was unremittingly intense, from his muscular, tattooed physique to his gruff, barking delivery, which made a perfect match for his trademark lyrical obsession with dogs. Plus, there was substance behind the style; much of his work was tied together by a fascination with the split between the sacred and the profane. He could move from spiritual anguish one minute to a narrative about the sins of the streets the next, yet keep it all part of the same complex character, sort of like a hip-hop Johnny Cash. The results were compelling enough to make DMX the first artist ever to have his first four albums enter the charts at number one.
