CASPER MÁGICO, ZION & LENNOX, NIO GARCIA’S NEW SONG

CASPER MÁGICO, ZION & LENNOX, NIO GARCIA, AND FLOW LA MOVIE TEAM UP FOR PROVOCATIVE SONG “DARTE”

Today, Casper Mágico, Zion & Lennox, Nio Garcia, and Flow La Movie released their new single and music video Darte distributed by GLAD Empire.

Darte is a very sexy, straightforward reggaeton that talks about a woman and a man being in agreement that their relationship is fun and casual with no strings attached, and the best time they’ve both had.

“Of course, every time I leave I think about you // The times I can’t sleep its because of you // I don’t know if you also think about me // But dont get it wrong because all I wanna do is”, Zion begins the song, leading the way to the catchy chorus.

The music video, directed by Gus, shows Casper Mágico, Zion & Lennox, and Nio Garcia in their finest fits, singing and bopping to the song, surrounded by scantily clad dancers showing off their best moves.

“I’m ready for everyone to enjoy this song the same way we enjoyed making it. You’ll hear a little bit of each one of us, in a reggaeton that feels fresh, new, and provocative so youll want to get down”. Casper Mágico said.

It was truly an honor to have collaborated with the legends Zion & Lennox, in a master production by Flow La Movie and with a partner like Casper. I couldn’t have asked for a better team, and I think people will notice how amazingly we vibe once they hear this song”, added Nio Garcia.

This song comes ahead of the Latin Billboards next week, where all of the artists are nominated. Casper Mágico, Nio Garcia, and Flow La Movie for Tropical Song of the Year with Travesuras, and Zion & Lennox for Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year (Duo or Group).

Walla Walla’s Newest Businesses

WALLA WALLA’S NEWEST BUSINESSES SPOTLIGHT THE VALLEY’S BOUNTY
From a luxury winery resort to a refurbished 1930’s Showroom, Walla Walla’s new businesses further the valley’s connection to character and place.

Walla Walla is so nice, they named it twice. Honored for the second consecutive year as America’s Best Wine Region, and boasting a flourishing farm-to-table culinary scene, this rural-chic town in central Washington has earned a reputation for continually building upon its successes as opposed to resting on its laurels. With its sweeping landscape of wheat fields, vineyards, and farmland, not to mention its health and safety-minded Peace of Mind Pledge, Walla Walla continues to delight and entice visitors with no fewer than 11 new businesses opening their doors in recent months.

Among the most notable, a new luxury winery resort, three new restaurants, three new tasting rooms, and four other businesses, including a curated grocery store, an elevated general store, an artisan showroom, and an educational hops tour.

“It gives me great joy to see these new businesses opening their doors,” Says Robert Hansen, Executive Director of Visit Walla Walla and Walla Walla Valley Wine. “The common theme running through these new businesses is a unified connection to place and community supporting the local landscape, artisans, and history that makes Walla Walla so genuinely unique.”

Following is a list of some of the notable businesses that have opened their doors in Walla Walla in recent months:

LODGING
Yellowhawk Resort (formerly Basel Cellars): Yellowhawk Resort is an 84-acre hillside retreat on Walla Walla’s south side. The resort features a sparkling winery and tasting room with farm-to-table dining, a swimming pool and cabanas, lodging, and event space for weddings, reunions, and corporate retreats. As you enter the gate and wind up the hill to the estate house, the elevated setting provides a sweeping outlook on the fields of wheat, lush vineyards below, and the Blue Mountains in the distance. The property was purchased in December 2020 by Pacific Northwest hospitality leaders Dan Thiessen, Chad Mackay, Scott Clark, Philip Christofides, and Paul Mackay, and is part of the Revelers Club loyalty program. Winemaker George-Anne Robertson leads Yellowhawk’s sparkling wine program.

DINING & RESTAURANTS
AK’s Mercado: One of Walla Walla’s top eateries, Andrae’s Kitchen, which Food & Wine magazine’s Ray Isle once described as “hands down the best restaurant inside a working gas station in America,” recently relocated to its own space on Main St. in the heart of downtown Walla Walla. Focusing on tacos, smoked meats, and other street food, Mercado is inspired by Chef Andrae Bopp’s love for the cuisines of Oaxaca and New Orleans, among other places, with a craft cocktail program curated by local mixology legend Jim German. The venue also features various popups from Secret Squirrel wine, Daylight Plant Co, Walla Walla Cheese Co. and others.

The Kitchen at Abeja: Those with a taste for wine country living have yet another reason to visit Abeja, a 38-acre historic Walla Walla farmstead and home to the acclaimed Abeja winery and bucolic Inn at Abeja. The Kitchen at Abeja, which opened July 13, offers a fine dining experience showcasing innovative wine country cuisine and celebrating the Pacific Northwest’s seasonal bounty. Dinner guests choose from a five or seven-course prix fixe menu, as well as an optional wine pairing menu. Executive Chef Elodie Li, who returns to her home state after two years of cooking in Michelin two-star restaurants in Provence, France, collaborates with Abeja winemakers Dan Wampfler and Amy Alvarez-Wampfler on the menus, updated weekly. Surrounded by the winery’s vineyards and gardens, The Kitchen at Abeja is a rich, refined wine country experience.

The Kinglet at Whitehouse-Crawford (opening early 2022): Farther on the horizon is The Kinglet at Whitehouse-Crawford, a new bistro eatery in the historic Whitehouse-Crawford Planing Mill building, from acclaimed Seattle Chef Maximillian Petty. A multiple James Beard semifinalist, Petty’s menu will range from exuberantly curated items, which built his reputation at Eden Hill, to a bar and lounge area that will stay open later with a snack-heavy lineup, including a pizza oven and an extensive cocktail program.

TASTING ROOMS
Moonbase Cellars: The Blue Mountains and rolling wheat fields of Walla Walla enticed Laine and Drew Pauk to call the valley their home. That, and their desire to make wine with a straightforward approach amidst an ideal viticulture climate. Moonbase Cellars’ philosophy is to find fantastic vineyards suited for a specific grape variety, sourcing excellent fruit from premier vineyard sites in the Walla Walla Valley, including multiple locations within the coveted The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater AVA. As for the name, Drew has always been fascinated with space. Though his dream of becoming an astronaut didn’t work out, he managed to combine his love for wine and space with Moonbase Cellars.

Kinhaven Winery: This new family-owned small lot winery and vineyard is perched atop a picturesque knoll in the Southside winery district of Walla Walla. The property, with 8 acres of Merlot, Cabernet, Carmenere and Malbec, enjoys unobstructed views of the Blue Mountains and is the perfect setting for family and friends to connect while enjoying their thoughtfully crafted wines. Purchased in 2019 by Terry and Lisa Davenport, who also own the recently renovated Boyer House. From dining in the vines to weddings, the combination of Kinhaven Winery and Boyer House sets up for the perfect family and friend gathering.

5 Dollar Ranch Brewing: Self-proclaimed as “Walla Walla’s best new brewery in 2021,” this newcomer opened in June 2021. Located on the south side of town along the Oregon border on twelve acres of farm property, with sweeping views of the Blue Mountains. An evolving menu of hop offerings is fit to appease the novice to beer connoisseur. The location is both dog and kid-friendly. According to brewer and owner Josh Hulett, while he loves all of his beers, the Hazy’s are not to be missed.

Hoquetas Wine Company: Located at the Port of Walla Walla wine incubator facility in the Walla Walla Airport District, Hoquetas Wine Co. opened its doors in September of 2021. Started by musician turned winemaker Robert Gomez and his family, the winery focuses on producing wines that are both expressive and representative of the region’s terroir. Hoquetus, a musical method where vocal parts alternate to create a single melody, speaks to Gomez’s musical approach to winemaking, where the ingredients are carefully composed to create a melodious pour.

Runway Market: Located in the airport district of Walla Walla’s wine region, Runway Market is a sparkling wine bar serving up local bubbles. The Market serves an assortment of food options, including picnic boxes, paninis, flatbread pizza, and various other grab-and-go options. All tastings include complimentary gourmet popcorn. Cathy Bay and her husband opened Runway Market in 2021 with the hopes of being a stop for not only bubbles and food, but laughter and celebration.

SPECIALTY, ACTIVITIES & OTHER
Showroom at Colville: The Showroom on Colville was built in the 1930s as a showroom for auto sales in the center of downtown Walla Walla. In October of 2019, the Showroom on Colville underwent extensive renovations which unveiled the beautiful bones of the structure, and from there the story began to blossom. A corner of downtown Walla Walla honors local history to gather and celebrate the community with local-centric artisans and purveyors. Shops include TMACS, The Market by Andy’s, Wildlings Co. kids boutique, and many more.

Walla Walla General Store: A new home, kitchen & gift store founded by Jean Bender and Peggy Frasse. The store opened to locals & visitors alike on May 6, 2021. From small delights, such as penny cent candy to homewares from makers such as Simon Pierce, Walter G textiles, Riedel and Staub – there is something for everyone at the Walla Walla General Store. Much more than just a retail space, co-founders Jean & Peggy envision the store as a space for community. Following a successful summer Art Series, resident Allison Palmer will host a continuation of “Make for Joy” there this fall. Weekly Monday-Wednesday classes will begin in September, and continue through December.

Walla Walla Brews Cruise: Walla Walla is known for wine, but it’s also home to plentiful craft beer and cider. Alongside thousands of acres of vineyards are century-old wheat fields and orchards stretching across the valley. Generations of wheat farmers have made their home in Walla Walla and now support a growing community of brewers. Walla Walla Brews Cruise tours are knowledge-based tours where you will learn about the process of brewing beers and crafting cider, with a guided discussion of varying styles of alcohol.

Foodscape Walla Walla: Foodscape could technically be described as an online grocer, but it’s so much more. It’s a place to acquire food, talk about food, or gather meaning from food. It was started by Hannah MacDonald, a longtime chef, local, and significant influencer on the Walla Walla food scene over the past decade. Foodscape highlights the area’s bounty, from food to all the agriculture offerings: produce, meat, and seafood. They also directly import hundreds of spices from all over the world, as well as other specialty products like olive oil, seafood, and vinegar. Foodscapes give locals and visitors alike the tools that they need to cook any cuisine under the sun.

About Walla Walla:
As the unofficial capital of Washington wine country, Walla Walla is home to more than 120 wineries, a nationally recognized culinary scene, access to an abundance of outdoor recreation, and an arts & entertainment scene that rivals cities many times its size. This community of just over 30,000 residents is known for many things, including its friendliness and hospitality, the quality of its wine, and of course the famous Walla Walla Sweet Onion. An easy and scenic four-hour drive from Seattle, Portland, or Boise, Walla Walla can also be accessed via Alaska Airlines’ daily non-stop flights from Seattle. Lakou Mizik × Joseph Ray

Anjunadeep warmly welcomes DJ Koze for his Anjunadeep debut with his remix of Lakou Mizik & Joseph Ray’s ’Sanba Yo Pran Pale’.

One of electronic music’s most beloved artists, DJ Koze runs the acclaimed Pampa Records, where he puts out his own music alongside material from the likes of Mano Le Tough, Axel Boman and Robag Wruhme. His 2018 album ‘Knock Knock’, released on Pampa, was named as Pitchfork’s 3rd best album of the year, whilst his single ‘Pick Up’ was named track of the year by both Resident Advisor and Mixmag. Known for his inventive production style, he has remixed Gorillaz, Mount Kimbie, Moderat and Lapsley, and collaborated with Róisín Murphy, Bon Iver, José González, Caribou and Matthew Dear.

’Sanba Yo Pran Pale’ is Kosi’s first remix in two years and is typically eclectic. Reimagining the traditional Vodou song as a summer dance anthem, warping and stretching the original vocals from Lakou Mizik’s Sanba Zao onto a bed of catchy rhythmic synths and warm enveloping bass. Ten minutes long, the original mix has a nostalgic analogue warmth that feels perfect for an Indian summer’s day. To celebrate the release, Anjunadeep is pressing a limited run of white label vinyl, which are available for pre-order now.

About Leave the Bones

’Sanba Yo Pran Pale’ is the first track off Lakou Mizik & Joseph Ray’s album Leave the Bones, and is a traditional Haitian song steeped in Vodou tradition: “The Sanbas are the poets and keepers of Haitian history and culture. They pass on their wisdom through song and story. ‘Sanba Yo Pran Pale’ is an invitation to the Sanbas to speak their truth whilst paying respect to the Vodou ‘Lwa’ or spirits.”

Referred to by NPR as a “mesmerizing, haunting and uplifting journey into the heart of Haitian culture”, Leave the Bones has accrued 1M streams on Spotify and Apple Music and has garnered a wealth of global support from the tastemakers such as BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, The Times, Billboard, Crack Magazine, Mixmag, Songlines, The New York Times, and Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM. It is out now, available digitally and as a 2 x 12” LP.

NO1-NOAH – Bounce

Singer/Songwriter NO1-NOAH (Ghetto Earth Records/Interscope Records) isn’t shying away from telling the ladies what he’s craving in his new video “Bounce.” Directed by Arman Mitchell, NOAH pens a hypnotic hook capable of seducing any woman to fulfill his desires in the bedroom. Surrounded by a bunch of party-goers, NOAH takes the action with him wherever he goes. Whether it’s the house, the streets, or the liquor store, no location is safe from Noah and his team of dance-happy friends. Watch HERE.

He is the first signee of Summer Walker, and much like her, is very open about his intentions, and that is evident through the song’s explicit lyrics.

Last January, the promising songwriter was named one of Billboard’s 15 Hip-Hop & R&B Artists to Watch. Touted for his “ethereal vocals and intrepid lyricism,” NOAH first caused shockwaves in the R&B world when he appeared on Summer Walker’s 2020 standout EP Life on Earth. NOAH’s indelible prints landed on the singer’s stellar cuts “SWV” and “White Tee,” where he served as her guest feature.

After displaying beams of promise on Walker’s sizzling anthems, NO1 inked a deal with her label Ghetto Earth Records last winter. Serving as her first artist, NOAH looks to rattle the cages of R&B with his emo-leaning tracks and sticky hooks. Since announcing his deal, his opening record, “Ridin For My Love,” flaunted his pillowy vocals and gutsy lyrics. With publications such as Rolling Stone and XXL already praising NOAH for his extraordinary talents, it’s only a matter of time before he morphs into a full-fledged star.

About Ghetto Earth Records

Ghetto Earth, founded by R&B artist Summer Walker in 2020, is a record label who debuted with feature artist NO1-NOAH. It is a joint venture with Interscope Records.

Lyn Lapid – In My Mind

LYN LAPID RELEASES VIDEO FOR FAN-FAVORITE SINGLE “IN MY MIND”

WATCH HERE

After amassing over 4 million song views and 1 million likes on TikTok before officially releasing the song, singer and songwriter Lyn Lapid drops the video for her latest single, “In My Mind”—watch HERE!

On making the video, Lyn says, “I knew from the start that I wanted the video to center around the many things that run through my mind, and so what better way than to focus on the concept of daydreaming? The entire video focuses on me working at a mundane office job, trying not to doze off while I get the paperwork done. Then suddenly you see me go on a rampage, chuck office supplies everywhere, and maybe swing a bat once or twice at my stingy mannequin boss. The catch is that whatever you see when I’m not typing my life away at my computer is all a daydream. It was exhilarating being able to destroy the office space in my little rampage moment, I think it was the first time someone ever told me to let loose and make a mess. I loved working with everyone on set, and one of the best parts was all of the snacks there. Eliot Lee is super talented, and he did a fantastic job bringing my initial vision for the video to life.”

Dedicated to the “‘quiet kids’ such as [herself]”, Lyn first teased “In My Mind” on TikTok a week before it was released, and the video quickly garnered over 3 million views in just a few days with her fans lovingly dubbing the song the “quiet kids song.” “In My Mind” has already amassed over 1 million streams in just a few weeks, and not to mention, it has been praised by ConsequenceSPINAtwood Magazine, and more, with HYPEBAE proclaiming, “Lapid’s soothing vocals seamlessly blend with the airy notes of the guitar,” and Ones To Watch praising her as “a fearless and irrefutable voice of Gen Z.”

Lyn says, “I wrote ‘In My Mind’ about my experience growing up as the ‘quiet kid.’ People would always tell me how I never talked at all and how quiet I was. Well, they weren’t wrong, I kept to myself all throughout school, even when I hung out with my friends. I remember when I sang for my school’s talent show for the first time, one of my classmates went up to me afterward and was like, ‘You know I was surprised when you walked on stage, you hardly ever talk. I thought you were gonna suck. But you actually didn’t!’…I’m not sure how you would respond to that honestly. I also wrote about what runs through my mind, and how if people knew what I was actually thinking, they’d be thankful that I kept to myself.”

“In My Mind” arrives during a breakout year for Lyn Lapid – she released her first three singles, “Producer Man,” “Itsy Bitsy,” and “Infinite,” received co-signs from Billie Eilish, BTS’ Jungkook, Sabrina Carpenter, and more amassed over 72 million global streams to date, and been praised by the likes of Rolling StoneBuzzfeedE! OnlineRefinery29HYPEBAEIdolator, and others. With more music on the way, Lyn has affirmed herself as a star on the rise for 2021.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Noah Gundersen has announced the release of his new album. A Pillar of Salt arrives via Cooking Vinyl on Friday, October 8; pre-orders are available now HERE.

Gundersen’s fifth solo LP and a first new album in more than two years, A Pillar of Salt is heralded by today’s premiere of the lush new single, “Sleepless In Seattle” available now at all digital platforms HERE.

I moved to Seattle in 2009” – Gundersen says a small-town kid, just 20 years old. I lived out of my sleeping bag in garages, under tables, on couches, until finally moving into a place in the Queen Anne neighborhood with some friends. There was a feeling that anything was possible. Over time, like all things, the city changed. The few bands that made it moved away, while the less fortunate gracefully bowed out when the insurmountable odds finally stacked too high. Tech companies moved in and priced out the artists. The culture of the place I fell in love with slowly disappeared. When Covid hit in early 2020, all the bars closed and I finally realized my time there was over. So I packed up and left. And yet, like Lots wife, I cant help looking back, the voice in my head taunting me with Springsteens Glory Days. I loved Seattle. I miss it. Or I guess I miss the memory of it.”

LISTEN TO “SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE” Gundersen will celebrate the arrival of A Pillar of Salt with a solo headline tour, getting underway October 9 and 10 with a two-night residency at The Soiled Dove Underground in Denver, CO; two- and three-night stands continue across the US through mid-December. Seven Mistakes in Your Skin Exfoliation Routine

A good exfoliation routine removes dead skin cells and makes your skin look brighter and smoother. While it is good to exfoliate regularly, many people make mistakes in their routines. Here are seven errors you need to avoid.

  1. You’re Using Products That Aren’t Suitable for Your Skin Type

Everyone has different skin, which means you need to find exfoliating products that work for you. It is a common mistake for people to buy either the least expensive skincare products or the ones that they have seen advertised the most. If you want to get the most out of your exfoliating routine, it is recommended that you seek advice from a professional dermatologist and get products that have been specifically formulated for your skin type. Every person’s complexion is highly unique according to Nava MD, which provides customized treatments for skincare. So, you need to have the right products for your skin type and condition if you want your exfoliation routine to help your skin stay healthy and radiant.

  1. You’re Using Products That Don’t Scrub Well

You need to use products that scrub well and know how to apply them. For instance, too many people press too hard or for too long, which can cause more harm than good. Whether you are using a combination of exfoliation products with loofahs, sonic brushes, or sugar scrubs, you need to ensure they scrub well. So, shop around to find the right combination of products for you or seek advice from a dermatologist.

  1. You’re Using Products That Are Not Properly Balanced

When people make the mistake of not taking their own skin type into account when choosing products for their exfoliation routines, they end up with products that are not balanced properly. The ingredients should be the right ones for your skin and be in the right proportions for your skin’s needs. For instance, alpha hydroxy acids are used in products to improve skin tone and mild areas of discoloration while beta hydroxy acids are best for oily or acne-prone skin. The best option is to go with dermatologically designed products that are customized just for you.

  1. You’re Using Exfoliators That Cause Dryness, Irritation and/or Peeling

This mistake speaks for itself. If you are using exfoliators that cause dryness or irritation, or make your skin peel, it is time to change the exfoliators you use. Exfoliation products are supposed to help you maintain healthy skin and a smooth and bright complexion, so if you find they are always causing irritation, there is little point in using those items. Instead, find the best exfoliators for your skin type.

  1. You’re Using a Product That Doesn’t Properly Target the Root of Your Problem

If you have something like dry skin, oily skin, or acne, you need to find the right exfoliation products and routine for your specific problem. If you are using a product that does not properly target the root of your problem, you will not be able to solve the issue.

  1. You’re Using Exfoliators and Toners in the Wrong Order

There are better exfoliators to go after your problem areas before focusing on the epidermis. It is always best to exfoliate right after a double cleanse to remove debris from pores and help cell turnover. Then follow up with a toner to help balance your skin’s pH levels. Do not make the mistake of using exfoliators and toners in the wrong order.

  1. You’re Not Leaving Enough Time for the Product to Fully Absorb into Your Skin Before You Work on Your Problem Areas

Exfoliation products take time to become fully absorbed by your skin. So, do not make the mistake of rushing your exfoliation routine. Let the product soak into your skin before you work on your problem areas.

CREATIVE SPARKS FLY IN NEW LEXUS CAMPAIGN

Lexus collaborates with a dynamic group of artists on original song, music video

In its new marketing campaign, “Emotional Sparks,” Lexus celebrates its commitment to engineering vehicles that deliver the freedom, excitement and inspiration drivers need to spark their creative visions. To bring the campaign to life, Lexus partnered with a group of musical artists who gain first-hand experience with innovations like Lexus Teammate™ Advanced Drive Technology found in the new LS500h, Remote Park and Plug-In Hybrid Electric technology on the all-new NX and the exhilarating 5.0L, naturally-aspirated V8 engine performance of the first-ever IS 500. Motivated by their in-vehicle experiences, the artists collaborate (for the first time) to create an original music track inspired by innovation and performance.

Titled “No Ceiling,” the track was created by three-time Grammy nominated, American record producers and songwriting duo Nova Wav, Korean-American R&B artist Audrey Nuna and Argentinian freestyle rapper Ecko, and is available on major streaming platforms. For the music video, renowned dancer and choreographer Zak Ryan Schlegel brought the song to life. Both the song and music video are live now at www.lexus.com/sparks.

“‘No Ceiling’ captures that limitless feeling you have when you’re driving and your favorite song comes on,” said Nova Wav, Warner Chappell Music songwriters. “We loved producing this track with Audrey and Ecko and seeing Zak’s moves. The energy of our collaboration comes through in the video and the commercials.”

“At Lexus, our inspiration comes from our guests, and this campaign beautifully showcases the very best of Lexus’ guest passions, energy and excitement,” said Vinay Shahani, vice president of Lexus marketing. “Prioritizing how our guests feel while driving and owning a Lexus is critical and provides the spark for us to develop cutting-edge features like our all-new multimedia system called Lexus Interface and Teammate™ Advanced Drive technology.”

While the “No Ceiling” music video provides an overall look at the collaboration, four :30 TV spots focus on the individual artists and songwriters. Each spot features an excerpt of “No Ceiling” and its inspiration:

  • Plug In, Play Loud” – Nova Wav listens to Audrey Nuna’s vocals while navigating city streets on electric power in the new 2022 NX plug-in hybrid vehicle.
  • Hands To The Sky” – Audrey Nuna’s lyrics take shape as she gets behind the wheel of the 2022 LS 500h, activating the all-new Lexus Teammate™ Advanced Drive technology.
  • La Via Rapida” – Warner Chappell Music’s Ecko is invigorated by the performance of the IS 500, crafting his verses as he pushes the throttle.
  • The Asphalt Stage” – Zak Ryan Schlegel brings a dancer’s perspective as he performs movements inspired by the NX 350h’s Remote Park, a function of Advanced Park.

The World’s Gone Nuts

The World’s Gone Nutz” is an award-winning, zany, yet socially topical music video and song, created by multi-hyphenate artist Daniel Robert Cohn. This fun parody, starring a cast of only squirrels and inspired by the chaos of 2020, will screen at the Dances with Films Festival (DWF 24), 2:00PM Friday, September 10 in Los Angeles at the TCL Chinese Theater.

Cohn wrote, performed, shot, and animated the video throughout quarantine, motivated by the thrilling challenge of creating a hybrid live-action/animation project where every element on screen had to be created from scratch. “It brought back all the creativity and imagination that I had as a child,” says Cohn. “I was building human sized squirrel hands with materials from craft shops, and compositing them onto the squirrels. Every day was a new challenge and a new adventure.”

When the pandemic hit and productions shut down, filmmaker, musician, animator, and photographer Cohn looked to his immediate home environment for inspiration. With no work, no actors, no crews, no locations and a world that seemed to have gone nuts, he found the ultimate authority on nuts…squirrels! Cohn wrote a rock anthem and directed an epic music video with the energetic, comical cast of characters found in his own backyard. Cohn wanted to bring light into the world at a time when it was most needed, tackling real turmoil in a lighthearted way. The visuals and lyrics for the song feature references from politics and pop culture, like the U.S. presidential election and the rise of new media conglomerates like Twitter and Amazon, highlighting the surreal hilarity of the collective experience of the year 2020. The lyrics feature lines such as, “I think the brink of sanity’s been left behind/Bitcoin, Big Con, Stock Exchange/Fake News, Fox News, Climate Change/Do the laws of science need to be explained?/I think it may be time for Dr. Strange” and “Time’s Up, Time to rise/No more lies, Hear the cries.”

Green screens and digital compositing software create a world that uncannily reflects our current nutty times, and most importantly, gives a much-needed laugh. “One of my favorite things about filmmaking is the magic of it all and how you can find a way to literally tell any story that you can imagine,” says Cohn. “My mission as a filmmaker is to take intangible concepts and make them tangible.” The flagship video “The World’s Gone Nutz,” is one of many made with this cast, including “The Squirrelette,” Halloween, Passover, Hanukkah, Thanksgiving, and Christmas—with more content on the way, including behind-the-scenes photos and trading cards. A portion of all profits from Squirrel Me Bad merchandise is donated to the important non-profit organization, Empowered by Light, that invests in communities on the front lines of climate change, loss of wildlife, and environmental devastation.

A highlight of Dances With Films, Cohn’s entertaining video will bring joy to big screen viewers. As a festival favorite, “The World’s Gone Nutz” has screened at the World London Film Festival, Prague Indie International Film Festival, the Emberlight Festival in Michigan and the Holiday 365 Film Festival. It just won “Best Micro Short” at the Antolia International Film Festival in Turkey, and is on its way to the Indigo Moon Film Festival in North Carolina, and the International Thai Film Festival.
