Hot Wheels in Houston

The Hot Wheels Legends Tour presented by Mobil 1 headed to “Space City” on September 18 and was set to feature the most awe-inspiring garage builds from across the Southwest. This live, in-person event took place at a Houston-area Walmart Supercenter in Spring, Texas, where one lucky fan car will moved on in the competition for a chance to become a Hot Wheels 1:64 die-cast toy.

With only two finalist spots remaining for the U.S. and Canada, local Houston celebrities, including Trae tha Truth and DJ Mr. Rogers, joined Hot Wheels Designers Ted Wu and Bryan Benedict at the judge’s table to evaluate each entry based on authenticity, creativity and garage spirit.

“Houston is the perfect place to host the next live event stop in the tour, as its car culture is synonymous with customization,” said Ted Wu, Vice President and Global Head of Design for Vehicles at Mattel. “From candy paint to elbow rims, we look forward to seeing the biggest and baddest builds from across the Southwest.”

Fans also saw a limited-run of three (AND ONLY THREE!), fully custom, hand-painted Hot Wheels ’64 Lincoln Continental convertible “SLAB” die-casts modeled after Trae tha Truth’s personal vehicle, which were available for live auction at the event. All proceeds benefitted the Angel By Nature non-profit organization, founded by Trae tha Truth, which provides local aid to the most vulnerable individuals in Houston’s vibrant community, with an emphasis on families with underserved youth.

Hundreds of custom fan cars registered for the event, and onsite experiences and appearances by Hot Wheels Garage of Legends icons Twin Mill, Bone Shaker, Deora II and Midas Monkey guaranteed fun for the whole family.

As with other event champions, the Houston winner will advance to the Semi-Finals later this year and then possibly the Global Grand Finale for a chance to have his or her car inducted into the Hot Wheels Garage of Legends and immortalized as the next 1:64 die-cast toy sold around the world. To date, North American winners include a 1968 Mercedes Benz 250S from Penticton, British Columbia, Canada; a custom aluminum racer named Lulu from Santa Fe, New Mexico; the 1969 Daytona Charger Superbird “Scraptona” from Macob, Michigan; “Loosie,” a Miami-winning 1929 Ford Model A; and the Detroit-winning 1975 Opel Manta, along with the exoskeleton 2003 Nissan 350Z from San Mateo, California.

Upcoming Tour Dates include:

  • October 9: In-Person Event & Social Coverage from El Segundo, California
  • October 28: Global Virtual Livestream Semi-Finals #1
  • November 4: Global Virtual Livestream Semi-Finals #2
  • November 13: Global Grand Finale In-Person Event & Livestream (Location TBD)

Useful Things to Think About When Moving to a New Home

Moving can be a stressful experience, especially if you are doing it for the first time. Fortunately, there are plenty of steps that you can take to make the process less daunting and more manageable. This article aims to highlight a handful of these steps so that you can enjoy the process of moving to a new home.

Planning Your Move

Easily one of the most important things you can do when it comes to moving is to make a solid and comprehensive moving plan. This helps to keep you on track and guide you through the process of moving. Plus, it can show you how to delegate the tasks that need doing, so that your family can help you too.

Create a Timeline. The first thing you should be doing when making your moving plan is to create an overall timeline for your moving process. By knowing when you need each major step of your move to happen, you can start planning around these events. Plus, it’ll allow you to delegate between your most and least important tasks for the moving process.

Set Yourself Deadlines. One of the best ways to make sure you stay on track for your move is to set yourself deadlines for the various jobs and tasks that you need to keep on top of. For example, saying you will fully pack the garage in two weeks’ time allows you to focus on getting the garage sorted, meaning you aren’t trying to focus on everything that needs doing all at once.

Moving Service or Move Yourself? You should decide early on whether you want to hire the services of a moving company or move yourself. Either is a viable option but knowing ahead of time allows you to make preparations for whatever possibility you decide on.

What Are You Packing?

Once your moving plan is in place, the next most important thing to think about is what you are packing for the move and how you are doing it. After all, packing your belongings is how you get everything from point A to point B. One thing to remember, though, is that packing will always take longer than you expect.

Declutter as You Pack. One of the best things you can do to help make your packing process easier is to declutter as you pack. There is no sense in moving items you don’t want, so by decluttering as you go, you can reduce how much you have to move overall.

Is There Enough Room? An important question to ask yourself when you are packing is whether you are going to have enough space in your new home for everything you are packing. If the answer to that question is no, then you might need to consider hiring a storage unit, like the kind you find at storagearea.com. This allows you to keep all of your belongings while still not overloading your new home.

Make Your Move

Finally, all that is left for you to do now is to make your move. Whatever your plan is, you can follow it through now. Relax, enjoy the process, and get excited to move into your new home! After all, it’s not every day that you move into a new place.

Auburn × Penn State Reach 7.6 Millions Viewers

Auburn-Penn State Registers 7.6 Million Viewers for ABC’s Saturday Night Football, ABC/ESPN Win the Night in Week 3

Auburn/Penn State registered 7.6M average viewers, the second-most-viewed Week 3 matchup

ABC has aired three of the top five games of the 2021 season

Nearly 11M average viewers watching CFB in primetime across ESPN networks on Saturday

ESPN boasts top two games on cable

ABC and ESPN continued to see multi-year viewership highs in Week 3 of the season, highlighted by Saturday night’s primetime matchup between then-No. 22 Auburn and then-No. 10 Penn State.

ABC’s Saturday Night Football Presented by Capital One averaged 7,606,000 viewers, the second-most-watched Week 3 game across all networks and fifth-best game of the year. ABC has aired three of the top five most-watched games of the year, and only once in the past decade (2016) have five games surpassed the 7.5 million viewers mark in the first three weeks of the season. The 7.6 million viewers is one of the five best September game audiences on ABC since the start of the 2018 season.

The matchup between the Tigers and the Nittany Lions peaked from 10:45 – 11 p.m. ET with 8.9 million viewers in the closing minutes of the game. This was the most-viewed Week 3 game on ABC since 2011 and the audience was up more than 100% from Saturday Night Football in 2020’s Week 3 (Miami/Louisville) and Week 3 in 2019 (Clemson/Syracuse). Driven by this game, ABC for the day was up +43 percent from 2019’s Week 3.

ESPN networks once again owned primetime as the top two networks among all key male and adult demos from 8 – 11 p.m. During that window, ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU had a combined average minute audience of 10.7 million viewers.

Across the entire sport, 9.4 billion minutes were watched across all networks, up +12% from Week 2 and the most-viewed Week 3 since 2016.

ESPN Boasts Top Two Games on Cable in Week 3
ESPN notched the top two games on cable for Week 3, including South Carolina/Georgia (2,548,000 viewers) in primetime on Saturday, and Friday night’s UCF/Louisville matchup (1,881,000), which was up +8 percent from the 2019 Friday doubleheader (North Carolina/Wake Forest and Washington State/Houston).

College GameDay Built by The Home Depot Has Banner Day

ESPN’s College GameDay Built by The Home Depot (9 a.m. – noon) had a high-powered weekend in Happy Valley, with the three-hour show averaging 1,910,000 viewers, which ranks as the most-viewed College GameDay since Rivalry Week in 2019. The audience was up +84 percent from Week 3 in 2020 (Louisville) and +7 percent from Week 3 in 2019 (Ames).

Saturday’s show ranks as the best Week 3 airing of the show since 2016 and the final hour (11 a.m. – noon) averaged 2,425,500 viewers, the best final hour since the 2019 season.

How to Make Your Home Stand Out from the Rest × Express Your Personality

Considering the fact that one’s home is perhaps the most important location in the whole world, it makes logical sense for people to want to make it fit their personality and style.

Still, that’s not to say that the process of transforming these spaces into something ideally suited to us will be easy. In fact, plenty of people struggle to turn a vision into a reality.

Well, if you are one of those people, then this article was made for you.

Look Down

Something that often gets overlooked by the vast majority of people is the fact that flooring is potentially the most influential factor when it comes to making your home stand out.

By browsing https://www.woodfloorwarehouse.co.uk/lvt-flooring and getting some new ideas for how flooring can look, you will begin to visualize new ways your flooring can interact with the room.

In reality, expressing your personality through your home doesn’t mean you have to drastically change your style, and if you like more of a simple and clean look, there is nothing wrong with just getting simple yet sleek flooring that represents your personality.

Art, Music & Decor

When it comes to expressing your personality, there is perhaps no better way than to show this through art, music or decor.

These three things are able to show people a variety of different things about you, and perhaps even shock some of the people who thought they knew you the best.

Just by simply hanging your favourite record or piece of art up on the wall you can make your home look much more sophisticated and unique while at the same time display your own taste and preferences directly. Art, music, and decor directly bring in sentiments and moods to the room.

Make Your Theme Fit With Your Tastes

Some people never even attempt to make their home feel like it is uniquely theirs, and this is only to their detriment. You can use your own style and tastes to base the interior design of your home around, and in time, things will begin to come together.

This could mean opting to get luxury click vinyl tile that looks sharp and sleek. You could lean into eccentricity and get print coloured furniture. Don’t manage people’s expectations of what a room should do and feel like. Be you.

Sure, making your home stand out from the crowd may take a lot of your already thinly stretched time, but it is something that is more than worth doing.

Your home is one of the few places on earth in which you have full control over, so you may as well take advantage of that fact and make your home something that is both different and unique. The most important thing to remember is that expressing your individuality through your home is a lifelong process and trying to rush things along will do nothing but hinder your progress.

A Simple Guide To Beef Cuts And How Best To Cook Them

Many people get stuck in a cooking rut. The problem is that we tend to keep cooking the things that we already know. And since there is a lot of mystery surrounding the different cuts of beef, many people either cook a steak or a simple beef stew. They don’t have the knowledge of the cuts to add some variety.

With so many people becoming foodies these days, there is more interest in learning the best ways to cook various cuts to add some variety. This is especially true with so many people getting interested in some prime cuts of meat that cost quite a bit. They don’t want to risk ruining a wagyu picanha, for example, by using the wrong cooking method.

In this article, we will go over several cuts of beef with the preferred cooking method to be able to get the most out of them.

The Basics

When a butcher receives a whole beef carcass, it needs to be divided up. This is so that the parts can be sold, otherwise there would be nobody buying meat if they had to cut it up themselves.

Besides the commercial aspect, the meat needs to be divided into cuts since the various muscles will cook differently. To make sure they have a cut that cooks the same way throughout they turn a side of beef into primal cuts. From there it gets further divided into sub-primal cuts.

The general rule of thumb is that the further the cuts are from the hooves or the horn of the animal the more tender they will be. Tender cuts should be cooked quickly and tough ones more slowly.

Chuck Beef

The forequarter includes parts that are generally called chuck but there are various parts within that description. It includes parts of the neck, shoulder blade, and what could be imagined as the upper arm as cows don’t have arms. These are generally parts that have quite consistent fat marbling and some collagen.

As such the chuck is good for braising and stewing. Any long cooking method that slowly melts the collagen and makes the meat soft and tender.

For quicker cooking, it is often ground up and used as burger meat. The amount of fat and connective tissue makes for a juicy burger.

Not all of the chuck cuts from the forequarter are all for low and slow cooking. Part of the ribeye is also from the end of the chuck off of the ribs. This is a tender and very juicy steak that should be cooked to medium-rare.

Brisket, Flank and Plate

These parts are getting closer to the hoof which means that they are muscles that are worked quite a bit. As such, they can be tough if not cooked properly. This isn’t to say that they all need slow and low cooking methods.

The brisket, however, is inedible if it is not cooked for long periods. It stands up very well to smoking and cooking over coals at a very low temperature. It is most famous as a classic Texas barbecue meat

The flank is a piece that is very good as a steak although it can be tough if not treated properly. It should be marinated for a while to help break down the connective tissue. Then it has to be cut a certain way for the grain of the meat to be such that it is easy to chew. It will never be totally tender, but the flavor makes up for that. It’s great in tacos, for example.

The Short Loin

This is the area with the most expensive cuts of meat since they are the most tender. They don’t require slow cooking or marinades to make them tender.

The T-bone, porterhouse and sirloin steak all come from the short loin and are what you will be served in any steakhouse. They have excellent flavor and do well with quick, dry cooking such as grilling or being cooked on a flat top.

The most expensive cut is the tenderloin, however, this comes from its own primal cut area and not the short loin. Although the name implies it should be from the short loin area, it is located right next to it. It is a muscle that does little movement so it is extremely tender but lacks the flavor of other cuts like a ribeye or sirloin. To make up for the lack of flavor, tenderloin is often served with a sauce of some kind.

The FunkLabb × Myah Marie

Brooklyn-based producers/songwriters The FunkLabb Ed Lawson and Wes Davis have teamed up once again with singer, songwriter, and background vocalist Myah Marie for their newest single, Late To The Party, which highlights Myahs silky vocals over a driving pop beat of soaring strings and synths. With its clever play on words, the song lyrically speaks to being the last to know the truth about someone and the realization that you ultimately deserve better. We wanted to hit a little different this time with Late To The Party. It’s a ballad style melody but still a funky, danceable track, shared by The FunkLabb. It’s our third single with Myah and we are just getting started!

Late To The Party was the first collaboration I did with The FunkLabb! Immediately I was like oh, these guys are dope, adds Myah who is a lyricist and background vocalist behind songs from many top artists such as Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Avicii, among others. She continues, It’s about how sometimes we don’t know someone sucks until we know and we feel completely late to the party, like showing up to a party everyone else was invited to but you. But you know what? Still eat the cake.

Late To The Party follows The FunkLabbs previously released singles with Myah Marie, Mama Said No and Pretty Please ft. Ruba, Young Dinero Banks, and Sarina The Violin Diva, which were accompanied by a pair of intergalactic music videos following Myah flirting with danger before being abducted by aliens and plotting her means for escape.

Funk suggests more than a sound. It implies a whole lot of attitude, slick swagger, and serious soul and you feel it just as much as you hear it. The FunkLabb cooks up music in this spirit as they uncork a timeless groove ignited by fresh fire. Since meeting nearly three decades ago crafting music behind the scenes for everyone from legends such as The Notorious B.I.G. and Will Smith to R&B favorites Sharissa and Allure, The FunkLabb now step into the spotlight. Feeling like something was missing from music, The FunkLabb collectively incorporate elements from their past catalog and eclectic taste as they aim to bring back the excellence and musicality needed to remind listeners of how a song makes you feel while evolving their collaboration into an artist development hub with various artists leaning on their expertise, wisdom, guidance, and studio prowess. Ultimately, The FunkLabb represents the culmination of a lifetime dedicated to music and a bold new chapter.

The Town Hall × The Boys

The Town Hall has announced a special evening with brothers Ron Howard and Clint Howard as they reflect on their new book The Boys. The live evening, moderated by Malcolm Gladwell will take place on October 12 at 7PM at The Town Hall  the same day The Boys is released.

What was it like to grow up on TV? is not a question most of us know the answer to, but Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ron Howard and fan-favorite actor Clint Howard do. The brothers rose to fame on popular shows of the 1960s and 70s like Happy Days, The Andy Griffith Show, and Gentle Ben. At The Town Hall, they chat about their new dual memoir The Boys, in which they reflect on the importance of family and share memories of their extraordinary childhood spent on sound stages, hanging out with Hollywood legends like Andy Griffith, and working with trained bears. Theyߣll also dig deeper, examining the industry with the perspective of life experience behind them.

Tickets prices, which include a copy of The Boys are $47-$52 and are available at

The evening is presented in partnership with Strand Bookstore and is also providing copies of The Boys.

After the last year and a half of working on this book, I am really looking forward to sitting with Clint and Malcolm at Town Hall to dive into our life experiences, as well as share all that we have learned throughout this process, said Ron Howard.

Clint Howard agreed. Writing a memoir with my brother has been an awesome experience and kicking off our book tour in New York City is a dream come true.

We are excited to welcome Ron and Clint Howard to The Town Hall to discuss their book The Boys, said Artistic Director Melay Araya. This is an exciting opportunity for audiences to get a peek behind the scenes of Hollywood from two these two prolific men and to see that while their family’s circumstances may have been different, they have gone through some of the same struggles and triumphs that many families do. Our goal at The Town Hall is to welcome important voices commenting on the American experience, and we know this evening will be fun and enlightening.

With the perspective of time and success Ron as a filmmaker, producer, and Hollywood A-lister, Clint as a busy character actor the Howard brothers delve deep into an upbringing that seemed normal to them yet was anything but. Their Midwestern parents, Rance and Jean, moved to California to pursue their own showbiz dreams. But it was their young sons who found steady employment as actors. Rance put aside his ego and ambition to become Ron and Clint’s teacher, sage, and moral compass. Jean became their loving protector sometimes over-protector from the snares and traps of Hollywood.

By turns confessional, nostalgic, heartwarming, and harrowing, The Boys is a dual narrative that lifts the lid on the Howard brothers’ closely held lives. It’s the journey of a tight four-person family unit that held fast in an unforgiving business and of two brothers who survived child-actor syndrome to become fulfilled adults.

Volbeat – Servant of the Mind

Multi-platinum Danish band Volbeat announced the release of their eighth studio album, Servant Of The Mind, coming via Republic Records on December 3rd. The new album will be available in standard CD, deluxe 2LP vinyl (in various limited-edition variants, full info below) and a deluxe digital edition. Pre-order the album here.

For Servant of the Mind, the band, which consists of Michael Poulsen (guitars/vocals), Jon Larsen (drums), Rob Caggiano (guitars) and Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass) took their signature heavy metal, psychobilly and punk ‘n’ roll sound up a notch while showcasing Poulsen’s keen ability for songwriting and storytelling.

“I wrote the whole album in three months,” recalls Poulsen, “I was in a good place and mood while at home, and had a captive audience of myself… There are a lot of Volbeat signatures in it. If you go back to the first record and compare it to where we are now, you can hear how the band has developed its style, while keeping the signature sound.”

To coincide with the album announcement, the band has released the new single “Shotgun Blues,” an anthemic track in which Poulsen explores the ghostly events he recently experienced upon moving into a new home. “Every time you move into a house, you bring dead people with you,” he explains. “Weird stuff happens when I move into a [new] house… it’s very otherworldly.” Watch the lyric video HERE.

The album also includes the “double barrel” of Summer songs the band released this past June: “Wait A Minute My Girl” and “Dagen Før (feat. Stine Bramsen).” The former of which became the band’s ninth number one single on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

Other songs on the album weave intricate and fascinating tales. “The Sacred Stones” tells the story of “an earthly being who has committed himself to the dark side. He is on a mission, speaking to darker forces and fallen angels.” Meanwhile, “The Devil Rages On” looks at the idea of the devil taking human form. Album opener “Temple of Ekur” returns to the ancient themes explored in past songs such as “The Gates of Babylon,” while the epic album closer “Lasse’s Birgita” explores the story of the first witch burnings to occur in Sweden in 1471.

About Volbeat

Volbeat are two decades deep into a career that has found them sharing stages with genre legends like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Motorhead, Slipknot, Megadeth, Anthrax and more. They have racked up nearly three billion cumulative streams over the course of their career, notched a Best Metal Performance Grammy nomination for “Room 24 (feat. King Diamond)” from 2014’s acclaimed (and gold-selling) Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies, and have grabbed multiple Danish Music Awards. Not ones to rest on their laurels, their forthcoming album Servant of the Mind, which was written and recorded during the shutdown and quarantine necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, is introspective but pulls no punches and is no less raucous or driving than their previous efforts.

Wait a Minute… Let’s Tour

The band will kick off their “Wait A Minute… Let’s Tour” run, their first US tour in two years, at Atlanta’s The Tabernacle with shows in cities including Oklahoma City, San Diego, and Los Angeles (full dates below). Special guests The Hu, Twin Temple, and Municipal Waste will be joining them for select dates. Tickets for these dates are on sale now HERE. Earlier this week the band also announced their 2022 co-headlining arena tour with Ghost and special guests Twin Temple, coming to cities including Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Houston, and Phoenix (full dates below).  Tickets for the tour, co-Produced by Live Nation and Frank Productions, will be available HERE, Friday, September 24 at 10am local time. Limited VIP packages are also available HERE.

Since forming in 2001, Volbeat has gone from the clubs of Copenhagen to headlining stages around the world, including the famed Telia Parken stadium in Denmark (becoming the only domestic artist to ever sell out the venue). Over the course of seven record-breaking albums the band has picked up number one songs (including nine #1s on the US Mainstream Rock chart and counting, the most of any band based outside of North America), multi-platinum certifications, awards and accolades all over the planet. Their latest album, Rewind, Replay, Rebound, was released on August 2nd, 2019 and has spawned the hit singles “Last Day Under The Sun,” “Die To Live (feat. Neil Fallon)” and “Leviathan.” A live album featuring songs recorded during the subsequent world tour, Rewind, Replay, Rebound: Live in Deutschland, was released digitally on November 27th, 2020. Most recently, they contributed a cover of “Don’t Tread on Me” to The Metallica Blacklist, with all proceeds from the track benefiting the All Within My Hands Foundation and the Børne Cancer Fonden of Denmark.

ABOUT YUMI ZOUMA:

Originally created as a long-distance project between friends online, Yumi Zouma is a collaboration drawn from around the world, with members based in New York City, London, and their home of New Zealand.

The self-produced quartet have honed their craft of delicate pop tapestries by way of emailed home recordings, resulting in records such as 2020’s acclaimed Truth or Consequences, lauded by FADER as “shimmering nostalgia-pop.”

However, on the fearless new single “Give It Hell,” singer Christie Simpson issues a call of resistance amongst the chaos of our modern age. The song, which was recorded over remote sessions undertaken throughout 2020, showcases an expanded sonic palette of live drums, grand pianos, orchestral strings, and woodwinds revealing a cacophonous glimpse of the band’s fourth and most formidable album yet, out early 2022.

For more information about Yumi Zouma, visit their website or connect with them on social media @yumizouma
