Planningtorock – Gay Dreams Do Come True

Acclaimed artist, singer-songwriter, producer, composer, director, and DJ Planningtorock, aka Jam Rahouja Rostron, is releasing the video to their latest release “Gay Dreams Do Come True.” The euphoric Pride anthem’s video was created as a collaboration with Butt Studios (Tame Impala, Doja Cat) and Greedy Goods (Lava La Rue). The visual is an immersive, tripped out utopian fantasy 3D world that perfectly complements the track. It’s a little Technotronic, a little Deee-lite, and ultimately an ode to romance and queer celebration, bringing the conversation around gender fluidity into the animation space.

About the video, Planningtorock said they “had so much fun making this video for Gay Dreams Do Come True”. I really wanted to celebrate and share the happiness I’m feeling right now with my baby and wife Riinu. It’s also the first time I’ve worked with a director as I usually direct my own videos and George was absolutely amazing and totally got my vision and the whole shoot was such a laugh from start to finish. Aline, who was the Director of Photography, is also an amazing queer cinematographer and a total pleasure to work with.”
The track, released in June, is the first from their new EP, Gay Dreams Do Come True. The project is set for release on October 29, 2021 through their new label, Human Level, via PIAS. Comprised of three celebratory, joyful, sweet house tracks, Gay Dreams Do Come True is Planningtorock’s aural mission to own their queer happiness, and to share that joy with anyone who wants to listen.

In celebration of the video’s release, Planningtorock will be joined with director Greedy Goons and Director of Photography Aline Belfort for an Instagram livestream discussing the visual at 9AM ET / 2PM UK on Thursday August 19th.

For the uninitiated: Planningtorock has been a disruptive voice in dance music for the last fifteen years. Initially signing with DFA via James Murphy himself, in addition to subsequently opening for LCD Soundsystem in America, Planningtorock has released four acclaimed studio albums thus far, using the personal as political on each record while playing with gender in their costumes and photos for each release. These albums, along with early collaborations with subversive innovators like The Knife and Peaches, established Planningtorock as a recognised force in politicised dance music that queers sound and explores ideas around gender, queerness, sexuality, and desire.

Planningtorock has also become a highly sought-after DJ and remixer, transforming songs with their remixes of tracks by Christine and The Queens, Robyn, Romy of The xx, and many more. Following an opening slot as a DJ for Robyn in 2019, the multitalented producer teamed up with Chanel’s sound director Michel Gaubert in 2020. Their Planningtochanel EP soundtracked the Parisian label’s Autumn/Winter 2020 show, and was the first work created in Jam’s new home city of Tallinn, Estonia. It’s also here that Planningtorock created their transformative new EP, Gay Dreams Do Come True.
Jam uprooted to the Estonian capital: a beautiful, gentle-paced city on the Baltic coast, after spending two decades in Berlin.

Already feeling restless and ready for a change, everything fell into place when the musician met their partner, Riinu, through mutual friends in Helsinki; soon, Jam relocated to Riinu’s home city full-time. Last September the couple married. LGBTQ+ marriage isn’t legal in Estonia, so the ceremony took place at the city’s British Embassy. In theory, the country recognises marriages which took place abroad. In reality, they have been struggling to get their partnership acknowledged in their home country while under a right-wing coalition government. With the prime minister now ousted over an alleged corruption scandal, Estonia is going through a time of great political upheaval. Distant hope of a more progressive government is on the horizon and Gay Dreams Do Come True represents Planningtorock’s own personal exploration of queer love.

A loud, proud, unabashed celebration, Planningtorock’s new EP Gay Dreams Do Come True stands in opposition to the tragic queer narratives which can sometimes dominate the mainstream. Indeed, Jam set out to make a record which basks in the all-consuming joy of queer love instead, and the sense of belonging, intimacy, and safety that comes with it.
Planningtorock will be playing two very special shows this fall to celebrate the EP’s release.

“Planningtorock Presents Gay Dreams Do Come True” is a live show and a party all in one to celebrate music and queer stories. Planningtorock will be performing their new ep plus classic PTR songs interwoven with them Djing their favorite tracks and influences. Invited guests and artist friends will join Planningtorock on stage to perform.

AViVA – MELANCHOLY

AViVA PREMIERES NEW SINGLE “MELANCHOLY” LISTEN HERE

WATCH THE OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR “MELANCHOLY” HERE

AUSTRALIAN ARTIST’S DEBUT NOVEL SELF/LESS DUE OUT 9/28

Today, Australia-born artist AViVA makes her Capitol Records debut with ”Melancholy” : a new single and video spotlighting her immersive and electrifying brand of alt-pop. An unfiltered look at the downward pull of depression, “Melancholy” also showcases the uncompromising originality that’s earned AViVA a passionate global following in recent years. Go HERE to download/stream “Melancholy,” and check out the video HERE.

With its moody backdrop of minimalist beats, “Melancholy” sets its emotionally vivid lyrics to an infectious sing-song melody (“One, two, three, four/Vicious, knocking at my door/Seven, eight, nine, ten/Burn the candle at both ends”). Throughout the track, AViVA delivers a captivating vocal performance, flaunting her effortless flow and fierce yet vulnerable presence. 360 Magazine loves AViVA’s vibrant energy and passionate lyricism.

On the single, AViVA says, “Seemingly cheerful and upbeat from the outside, it doesn’t matter what makes you feel that way, sometimes feeling down is the only way you can feel, but the power of the last line ‘it will never be the same’ is where the core message of the song lies. Even though after negative experiences things often aren’t the same, we are always free to learn and grow from our experiences. Feeling melancholy, like so many feelings, is just a temporary state. Things will, as they always do, get better.”

The video for “Melancholy,” co-directed by AViVA and long-time collaborator Jeffeton James, amplifies the song’s raw and powerful intimacy. To that end, the wildly colorful visual places AViVA in a series of isolated situations: lying in a hospital bed, trapped behind a school desk, singing to her own reflection inside the room of an abandoned and decaying home. As the song unfolds, the 27-year-old artist reveals her unapologetically punk spirit, inhabiting each frame with a feverish intensity.

A multidisciplinary artist, AViVA will release her debut novel SELF/LESS via Macmillan on September 28. Set in a dystopian society in which all forms of self-expression and creativity are outlawed, the book follows its 17-year-old protagonist Teddy as she rebels against her upbringing and discovers a secret world beneath the walled-in city where she was raised. According to AViVA, SELF/LESS fulfills a longtime mission of creating her own distinct multiverse that seamlessly merges music and literature.

Dr. Ahron Friedberg – Through a Screen Darkly

Through A Screen Darkly Details Pandemic Mental Health Struggles

Dr. Ahron Friedberg’s Book Offers Context on CDC & KFF Data

In his latest book, Through a Screen Darkly: Psychoanalytic Reflections During the Pandemic, New York City psychiatrist Dr. Ahron Friedberg portrays a range of individuals dealing with mental health issues related to the pandemic, providing context for these harrowing recent statistics:

The average share of adults reporting symptoms of anxiety disorder and/or depression almost quadrupled from January 2019 to June 2021

  • 36% of adults report difficulty sleeping, 32% cited eating problems, and 12% reported increase in alcohol and substance abuse
  • Communities of color and essential workers are suffering disproportionately
  • Young adults, more likely to lose jobs and / or be in lockdowns, are also suffering disproportionately
  • Suspected suicide attempts have increased in teenagers, especially girls

Commenting on the statistics, Dr. Friedberg stated: Stress has physical as well as mental consequences. It weakens the immune system and increases the incidence of major depression as well cardiac and pulmonary issues.

Friedberg continues: I coined the term Post-COVID Re-entry Syndrome to describe the stress that people suffer as they re-enter the workforce, reconnect with friends and family, and attempt to resume some semblance of a normal life.

To manage this anxiety, Dr. Friedberg recommends:

  • Taking a walk outdoors
  • Connecting with friends and family – safely
  • Self- Reflection

If symptoms become severe, he recommends consulting a trained mental health professional. Primary care physicians and clergy can also provide resource and emotional support.

The ultimate goal is to bolster your resilience, states Dr. Friedberg. In my experience counseling patients through the pandemic, I found that they had greater capacity for resilience than they realized. Deploying this resilience was their pathway to successfully managing their mental health.

Through a Screen Darkly offers practical examples of how patients coped with these conditions and (in many cases) found the resilience to get past them.

In addition to Through a Screen Darkly, Dr. Friedberg wrote Psychotherapy and Personal Change: Two Minds in a Mirror with Dr. Sandra Sherman. With Dr. Jack Hirschowitz, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai, he wrote Flashing Seven: Seven Essential Skills for Living and Leading. With his father, Dr. Eugene Friedberg, he wrote Between Us, A Father and Son Speak.

Through a Screen Darkly is available for purchase at amazon.com.

Kevin McReynolds’ Launches Bank After Ball

Former UCLA Student Athlete Turned Serial Entrepreneur Launches Bank After Ball

With a mission to inspire the next wave of athletes, Kevin McReynolds, founder of Overnght Media launches the platform’s first original series Bank After Ball

After playing 4 years of football for the UCLA Bruins during his undergraduate studies, Kevin McReynolds continued on his student-athlete journey at the University of Nevada, Reno where he received his Masters in Business Administration while playing his last year of eligibility for the Nevada Wolf Pack. During his playing years, and after a few too many threatening concussions, McReynolds shifted gears putting an emphasis on a robust business career, ultimately acting as his saving grace for life after football.

With a powerful stance on growth, development, and success, McReynolds launched Overnght Media on the belief that truly successful people and businesses oftentimes face hardship, struggle, and challenges before reaching an optimal peak. The ever-growing misconception of “overnight success” has been at the forefront of business for decades and McReynolds wanted to debunk that notion while diving into the nitty-gritty reality of true achievement.

After watching many of his talented UCLA teammates and other professional athletes from tennis to gymnastics, basketball, and beyond, carry on to a professional level of sport, McReynolds noticed that while they were achieving an impressive milestone in their careers, one that he always anticipated joining after college himself, many were not prepared for the financial obligations and responsibilities that come with running a business. While maintaining strong relationships with many former student-athletes, McReynolds quickly became a resource for their financial journeys and challenges along the way and he soon realized that while athletics carried many to the next level, they weren’t fully equipped to handle the most important business of all – themselves.

On August 4th, 2021, McReynolds and the Overnght Media team are set to launch the first episode of Bank After Ball, an original series designed to highlight the financial journeys and business ventures of former and current athletes during and after their careers, offering an in-depth look at life and career beyond athletics; because, there is so much more. Season one boasts an impressive lineup including Donovan Carter (Actor on the hit TV show, Ballers), Peng Peng (Olympian, Actress, Influencer), Aaron Wallace (Former NFL Player, Entrepreneur) Dietrich Riley (Top Real Estate Agent, Model), Amanda McGrew (CEO of Playoff Dating App), Lorrie Fair Allen (World Cup Champion U.S., Olympic Gold medalist, Olympic Silver medalist, three-time national champion at the University of North Carolina, and Founding Investor in Angel City FC), and Vic Enwere (Former Cal Student Athlete, Athlete Rep).

For a peek at the season, please view the official Bank After Ball trailer here.

About Bank After Ball

With a mission to inspire the next wave of athletes, Overnght Media is proud to launch its first original series Bank After Ball. The show is designed to tell the financial journeys and business ventures of former and current athletes during and after their careers, offering an in-depth look at life and success beyond athletics.

About Overnght Media

With a powerful stance on growth, development, and success, Overnght was founded on the belief that truly successful people and businesses oftentimes face hardship, struggle, and challenges before reaching an optimal peak. The ever-growing misconception of overnight success has been at the forefront of business for decades and we’re here to debunk that notion while diving into the nitty-gritty reality of true achievement. It’s no secret that powerful businesses, leaders, and entrepreneurs all started somewhere, and more often than not, they started from the bottom or hit many bumps along the way. However, the vast majority of the public does not see the behind-the-scenes work that goes into their successes.

After years of searching for business publications that catered to the younger generation (Millennials and Gen Z) while also providing honest and relatable tools and content that showcased the reality of truly making it, we discovered that resources were scarce. While these groups are touted to be the most disruptive and powerful generations ever in the coming decade, Overnght looks forward to providing a meaningful and approachable platform to become just that.

Joyce Manor Play SummerStage

Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage Announces New Benefit Show

Joyce Manor with Turnover, Tigers Jaw, and Prince Daddy & The Hyena

September 23, 2021 in Central Park

Tickets On Sale Now

Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage is excited to announce Southern California-based punk rockers Joyce Manor will perform a ticketed benefit show in Central Park on Thursday, September 23, 2021 with Tigers Jaw, Turnover and Prince Daddy & The Hyena. Tickets are available for purchase ($25 advance / $35 day of) now at City Parks Foundation. Please note that proof of full vaccination must be shown at the door for entry to the show.

Songs From Northern Torrance, the latest album from acclaimed California-based four-piece Joyce Manor is available now. The 10-track compilation is a collection of early material that offers a glimpse into the band’s humble beginnings as an acoustic two-piece. Originally recorded between 2008-2010, many of the tracks have become fan favorites over the years previously existing in a live setting, or on rare CD-Rs sold by the band during their early days on the road.

I Won’t Care How You Remember Me, by the Scranton, Pennsylvania-based band Tigers Jaw, is an ode to living in the present. Tigers Jaw’s sixth albumߞand first for new label home Hopeless Records, finds members Ben Walsh (vocals/guitar), Brianna Collins (vocals/keyboards), Teddy Roberts (drums), and Colin Gorman (bass) at the height of their powers, fusing their collective skills with the synchronicity and energy the band honed over several years of non-stop touring. The result is a back-to-the-basement approach elevated by the unmistakable production of their longtime friend and collaborator Will Yip.

Turnover’s aptly titled new album, Altogether is the first collection the trio has written while living on opposite coasts. The record represents the group’s most collaborative and connected work to date, showcasing the intuitive, near-telepathic relationship frontman Austin Getz has developed over the years with his bandmates. Pop sensibilities inform the writing for the first time, with elements of funk, jazz, lounge, and disco mingling alongside the band’s trademark indie grit and punk energy.

Cosmic Thrill Seekers, the new record from Albany punk rock band Prince Daddy & the Hyena is an odyssey of epic punk, pop, indie, garage rock, and orchestral theatrics. It is a candid, acute documentation of front person Kory Gregory’s cyclical mental health states as told through three acts and 14 songs/chapters.

For the safety of all visitors, staff and artists, SummerStage in Central Park requires all guests to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination in order to enter the shows at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. Those who are not able to be vaccinated because of a disability will be provided reasonable accommodation and will be required to wear masks at all times. All children between the ages of 2 and 12 will be asked to wear masks at all times if they are physically able. Venue capacity may be limited at staff discretion.

SummerStage will accept proof of final Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna or WHO-approved vaccination using the CLEAR app, the NYS Excelsior Pass, NYC Covid Safe app, a physical/photo of CDC vaccination card, or EU digital pass, accompanied by a government-issued photo identification. Guests must show that their final dose of vaccine was received at least 14 days prior to the show date. In addition, masks are required upon entry to the venue and strongly encouraged for all guests for the duration of the performance, as is physical distance. All SummerStage staff will continue to wear masks at all times and enhanced cleaning protocols will remain in place throughout the venue In Central Park, while pre-packaged food and beverage purchases will remain contactless through QR code. Livingston – Message in a Bottle

LIVINGSTON DEBUTS NEW SINGLE MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE

NEW EP AN UNLIKELY ORIGIN STORY

AVAILABLE NOW

Fresh off the release of his EP, An Unlikely Origin Story, Elektra Records artist Livingston has debuted new single Message In A Bottle. The track is available now on all streaming platforms.

Livingston elaborated on the single, adding, There are times when I waste so much potential thinking about what could have been, what I could have changed, what I would have said differently. I wanted to write a song about what it would feel like to let that go, to say one statement of closure and make peace with the change.

Earlier this summer, Livingston shared new EP An Unlikely Origin Story and made his live performance debut, supporting Fitz and the Tantrums on select dates. The EP was heralded by singles The Giver, Hercules, and Superkid. Hercules, a song about fearing change and embracing vulnerability, was co-produced by Jorgen Odegard (Justin Bieber, Yungblud, Quinn XCII, Imagine Dragons) and co-written by Odegard and Chloe George. The track followed December single Superkid, which is accompanied by a powerful visual written and directed by Livingston himself. Livingston has racked up over 40 million streams on DSPs and nearly 2 million followers on Tik Tok in only a year, cementing his status as an artist on the rise. An Unlikely Origin Story EP is available now on all streaming platforms.

Last year, the self-taught singer, songwriter, producer and engineer shared his debut EP Lighthouse, praised as uplifting and inspiring by PopularTV and earning Livingston the title of pop star in the making from Ones To Watch. The eight-track collection is available now at all DSPs via Elektra Records and features standout track Carnival in addition to singles Home, Say The Word, and Fairytale, the latter of which was shared by Billboard alongside the artist’s Elektra Records signing announcement.

Growing up in Denton, Texas, Livingston was faced with bullying, anxiety, and relentless self-doubt. Throughout his childhood, he struggled to fit in and faced a constant battle to find his place in the world, finally finding the connection and understanding he sought when he poured his feelings of loneliness, isolation and inadequacy into song. Drawing inspiration for his orchestral cinematic pop from a wide range of artists in pop, hip hop and film scores, Livingston combines instantly memorable melodies with sweeping orchestral compositions and is first and foremost driven by honest storytelling.

Our culinary team already creates amazing wine & food experiences for our guests, which will be enhanced by working with Chef Palmer and Chef Appleman. A mutual friend introduced us, and we really connected with Chef Palmer and Chef Appleman on our shared values of supporting philanthropy, our local community, and great wine and food. We’re excited to add their expertise and collaborative enthusiasm to our team.

Bricoleur Vineyards opened in the Sonoma County town of Windsor, just south of Healdsburg, last spring in the midst of the pandemic and in a short time has already earned recognition from San Francisco Bay Area press as the region’s Best New Emerging Winery and Most Romantic Winery.  A 40-acre picturesque destination with 21 acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards that have produced critically acclaimed, award-winning wines, the sustainably farmed estate also features expansive culinary gardens, fruit trees, olive groves, chickens, and honeybees.

Chef Palmer brings his signature Progressive American Cooking to Bricoleur Vineyards and will team up with the estate’s culinary team on menu creation and concept to further elevate the winery’s already robust offerings. With 13 acclaimed restaurants and rooftop bars across the United States, Palmer has chosen Sonoma County as his home, designing wine-forward tasting menus for Bricoleur Vineyards that emphasize the fresh, seasonal produce grown on the estate, reflecting the bounty of the land that Palmer knows so well.

I’m excited to work with the team at Bricoleur Vineyards as Culinary Advisor, said Palmer. A close friend brought me to the estate for a tasting earlier this year and I was impressed with their tasting menus and the way their wines pair so beautifully with dishes made from their estate-grown fruits and vegetables. I cannot wait to collaborate further on wine and food experiences and events in the future.

In keeping with their shared devotion to philanthropy and supporting the local community, Chef Palmer is excited to host the 11th Annual Project Zin event at Bricoleur Vineyards on August 21, 2021. Project Zin is a celebratory event hosted by Winemaker Clay Mauritson and Chef Palmer that benefits Down Syndrome Association North Bay. Palmer and Mauritson launched Project Zin in 2012, and the annual event has raised over $1,000,000 for DSANB. This year’s event is sold out, but to learn more about Project Zin and Down Syndrome Association North Bay, please visit their website.

At Bricoleur Vineyards, we’re all about celebrating life’s moments with wine and food, while supporting charities across the country and here at home, added Bricoleur Vineyards’ co-founder Sarah Hanson Citron. Bricoleur Vineyards is a beautiful place to gather, where social connections are fostered, and communities are built. Chef Palmer and Chef Appleman share our enthusiasm for bringing people together and we’re excited to welcome them to our team.

About Bricoleur Vineyards

Bricoleur Vineyards, which launched its first vintage in 2017 and opened its tasting room in 2020, is tucked away in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley – just south of Healdsburg. Founded by the Hanson family, Bricoleur Vineyards can be found at the end of a winding road in the charming, bucolic town of Windsor, only an hour north of San Francisco – and very close to the Santa Rosa airport. The distinctive name, Bricoleur, is French for one who starts building something with no clear plan, adding bits here and there, cobbling together a whole while flying by the seat of their pants.

The Bricoleur Vineyards estate produces two families of critically-acclaimed, award-winning wines – Bricoleur and Flying by the Seat of Our Pants. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé of Pinot Noir and Zinfandel are crafted under the Bricoleur label, while Rosé of Grenache and Brut are produced under the humorous, irreverent Flying by the Seat of Our Pants label. The wines are crafted by veteran Winemaker Cary Gott and Assistant Winemaker Tom Pierson.

In addition to Bricoleur Vineyards, the Hanson family also owns Kick Ranch Vineyard in Sonoma County’s Fountaingrove District AVA. The Hanson family’s roots run deep in Sonoma County. Mark Hanson was born in Santa Rosa, and Beth Wall Hanson’s great grandfather, Pietro Carlo Rossi, was the original oenologist for Sonoma County’s historic Italian Swiss Colony. Rossi revolutionized California winemaking in the 19th century and under his direction, the Italian Swiss Colony became one of America’s leading wineries.
