Jonah Nilsson Covers Michael Jackson’s Bad

Jonah Nilsson, lead vocalist for Dirty Loops, a major YouTube sensation, shares his cover of the Michael Jackson classic “Bad”, adding his own spin and signature vocal range stylings to make a track that’s more powerful than ever. The track features Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Anomalie and Justin Lee Schultz. Music industry legend Quincy Jones has championed the Swedish singer and multi-instrumentalist, taking him under the wing of his management team. Now, Nilsson has been added to the recently launched Jammcard Records roster to release his first full-length solo album Now or Never on July 29.

He’s different though, he’s got the perfect balance of right brain creativity and left brain music theory. It’s in his blood,” praises Quincy Jones. “He’s got soul, with one of the biggest ranges I’ve ever heard.”

Jonah’s take on “Bad” beams with all the elements of a worldwide pop star in the making, while paying homage to the soul and spirit that originally made the track a hit in 1987, and adding a modern flavor that gives this version an entire life of its own.

“The song takes me back to my childhood,” Jonah reminisces. “Playing video games, swimming, and running around outside of our country house, just being a kid. With my version, I wanted to keep the essence of the song as well as stretching the musical elements as far as I could without losing the original feel, which inspired many of those childhood memories.”

The funk-pop artist has come a long way since his childhood dreams of becoming an artist. Singing has been part of his life essentially since birth. Jonah started singing at his parent’s church choir at the tender age of one. Then, at the onset of his skyrocketing career, Jonah’s life changed overnight when he and a couple long-time friends uploaded their own covers of huge pop hits like Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” and Justin Bieber’s “Baby” to YouTube. The unique covers spread like wildfire in the music community, garnered them millions of views, and got them the attention of many acclaimed artists, namely 16x Grammy Award winning producer David Foster. David took them under his wing and signed the trio named Dirty Loops to their first record deal at Verve Records. And just like that, Jonah went from singing in his friend’s basement to becoming an international touring star.

Jonah has made a name for himself through his pop sensibilities and masterful knowledge of music theory from his studies at the Royal Academy of Music, which set him apart in this new democratized era in which almost anyone can call themselves an artist.

Since Jonah’s early rise to fame, he’s since got a few headliner world tours under his belt and has acquired a significant fanbase of high-profile musicians, including Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, Brian McKnight, Rodney Jerkins, Dallas Austin, and the incredible Stevie Wonder. Even though that’s enough for some, Jonah’s humble demeanor continues to push him forward. His cheery outlook on life gives you the sense he’s unphased and ready to continue giving the gift of music.

“It’s a little scary and wonderful at the same time because I have the chance to explore and share a new side of myself that my fans haven’t seen before. I’m really excited, and I can’t wait to see what happens.”

Jonah’s debut single, “Coffee Break”, featuring Richard Bona, was self-produced and released in 2018  one version which also features LUCAS from the massively popular K-pop group NCT and released by SM Entertainment. Since then, he has also released a cinematic single “Borrowed Time” and the jaw-dropping performance video of “Work Shit Out” with Dirty Loops. Jonah will continue to share new music, and when asked about how his music will differ from Dirty Loops, he says that the music will continue to have the flirtatious and cheeky sound that they were notorious for, but with more R&B and pop elements.

“I never in a million years thought I’d be here,” confesses Jonah. His piercing blue eyes and huge smile gives you the feeling that he’s wholeheartedly telling the truth. “Living in the present has kept my feet on the ground. I just want to create meaningful music… everything else that happens is extra.”

ONGOING EXHIBITIONS

Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals is now open.

Opened June 12, the Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals offers a brilliant showcase for one of the world’s most important collections of gems and minerals and an engaging guide to our dynamic planet. Thoroughly redesigned and reinstalled, the 11,000-square-foot Halls feature about 5,000 specimens from 95 countries, including a pair of towering, sparkling amethyst geodes from Uruguay that are among the world’s largest on display, a wall-sized panel of fluorescent rock from Sterling Hill in New Jersey that glows in shades of orange and green, and a temporary gallery, the Melissa and Keith Meister Gallery, opened with Beautiful Creatures, which presents more than 100 precious jewels inspired by animals from the world’s great jewelry houses and artisans.

The all-new Halls tell the fascinating story of how the vast diversity of mineral species arose on Earth, how scientists classify and study them, and how we use them for personal adornment, tools and technology. Advance timed-entry ticket reservations are available now HERE.

Creatures of Light: Nature’s Bioluminescence is now open.

This exhibition will explore the extraordinary organisms that produce light, from the flickering fireflies found in backyards across the Northeast to the deep-sea fishes that illuminate the perpetually dark ocean depths. Rare among plants and animals that live on land, the ability to glow—that is, generate light through a chemical reaction—is much more common in the ocean, where up to 90 percent of animals at depths below 700 meters are bioluminescent.

In Creatures of Light, visitors will move through a series of re-created environments, from the familiar to the extreme, to explore the diversity of organisms that glow and how they do it; discover the variety of ways in which light is used to attract a mate, lure unsuspecting prey, or defend against a predator; and learn how, where, and why scientists study this amazing natural phenomenon. Advance timed-entry ticket reservations are available now HERE.

The Nature of Color is now open.

Color is woven so tightly into our lives that we rarely stop to question what it is and how it works. The immersive exhibition The Nature of Color reveals how color carries information both in nature and across cultures. Discover how color is used in the natural world to help organisms survive and reproduce and how humans use it in various cultures to signal social status, group affiliation, and more. Featuring intricate models, cultural objects, and interactive exhibits that will engage the entire family, this exhibition will offer opportunities to connect with color through experimentation and play, including dancing with color shadows, mixing and splitting different colors of light in a Color Lab, and even creating collaborative artworks.

Worlds Beyond Earth, the Museum’s newest Space Show, is currently screening in the Hayden Planetarium Space Theater.

Viewers can journey beyond our own blue planet to marvel at the latest discoveries from our cosmic neighbors.

Narrated by Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o, Worlds Beyond Earth takes viewers on an exhilarating journey that reveals the dynamic nature of the worlds that orbit our Sun and features immersive visualizations of space missions and breathtaking scenes depicting the evolution of our solar system.

Hauskey Shares New Single One Minute

Today, Australian artist and producer Hauskey shares his new single, “One Minute” featuring Hope Tala, via slowplay/Republic Records—listen HERE.

For the past eighteen months, Hauskey has casually been dropping low-key pop nuggets, sunshine bops and kaleidoscopic, groove-laden, synth-studded jams. They accumulate to an eclectic playlist in their own right and herald the arrival a smart young artist just dipping his toe in the water.

“One Minute” is Hauskey diving headfirst into that same pool. In a little over two minutes, he confidently condenses the smooth, smart, deeply joyous moments of his previous output, and with the help here of London’s fast-rising Bossa Nova-inspired R&B artist Hope Tala, has created his first micro masterpiece.

The pairing is Hauskey’s first collaborative work, and one that proves particularly fruitful. A fervent admirer of Hope’s output, herself a smart young artist who takes influence from literature as much as she does music, the combination of her smooth, sultry vocal delivery and Hauskey’s pop smarts brings us to a very fine meeting of like-minds.

The song itself calls out so-called “new friends” caught making false promises and jumping clear before they’ve barely managed to introduce themselves. It’s an eye-roll to all those who have wronged. A colourful ode to fickle fools.

Hauskey says, “Fake, fair-weather friends. Seems to be plenty, especially in the music industry. Being from a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, I don’t handle bullshit all that well, and can’t stand people who aren’t genuine. This song wrote itself, but I’m pretty proud of the ‘friend to finished in one minute’ line. It says everything.”

Hope adds, “I think it can be really powerful when songs are upbeat and sound fun and light-hearted but have profound lyrical meaning. Hauskey is a great writer, and it was really cool to be able to collaborate with such a talent.”

“One Minute” follows the release of recent singles “Cream Shirt,” “Go Wrong” and 2020’s debut EP Slow. An enviable collection of melody-rich songs, and a collection now brightened by the inclusion of its brightest to date.

Already introduced to great effect by Australia’s primary tastemaker station triple j, Hauskey’s music has quickly travelled much further afield with support from BBC Radio 1, and an enviable list of clued-up blogs and music publications around the globe.

EBEN × Dandelions

Rising singer, songwriter & producer EBEN has announced his highly-anticipated forthcoming project Dandelions, a 5-track collection and short film arriving August 12 via Atlantic Records/Signature Entertainment. The EP is preceded by lead single “Jenny,” with the official music video making its broadcast premiere today on MTV Live, MTVU and the Viacom billboard in Times Square.

Inspired by Forrest Gump, “Jenny” likens a doomed relationship with a cheater to the trials and tribulations of the iconic film’s namesake, while an organic bass line gives way to bold horns and handclaps as EBEN’s voice flutters from intimate verses into a hummable hook.

“I was thinking, ‘Damn, Jenny put Forrest through it, and nobody really talks about that’,” said EBEN. “So, I decided to make a song. It’s about the moment of breaking up. You realize you’re always going to be hooked to this individual. You know it’s bad—but you keep going back. It’s not healthy. However, it’s the perfect intro to the ‘Dandelions’ story, and it’s got a nice summertime vibe.”

Co-penned/produced by EBEN alongside collaborators Asia Whiteacre (LouisTomlinson, 5 Seconds of Summer), Matt Campfield (Kehlani), Danny Klein and Modesty (H.E.R., Bebe Rexha) and featuring additional writing from Corbyn Besson of Why Don’t We, the Dandelions EP will drop alongside a stunning short film comprised of music videos for all five tracks. Directed by EBEN’s close friend Evan Hara, the movie was shot guerrilla-style over the span of three weeks along the West Coast from Portland throughout California. Together the EP and film take viewers on a psychological journey through the emotional stages of a breakup.

Hailed by Billboard for his “smooth pop-rap vocals” and deemed “immaculately polished”by Ones To Watch, EBEN has quickly risen to the ranks of today’s top new artists. The Cincinnati native made his major label debut with his 2020 Honeydew EP, which featured the earworm lead single “Sad Song” as well as rally cry anthem “The Kids Are Alright.”

Having amassed over 20 million career streams to date, EBEN has also proved to be an engaging live performer having supported Why Don’t We on their sold-out 8 Letters Tour, which packed arenas and placed him on hallowed stages such as Radio City Music Hallin New York City. Coming further into his own with Dandelions, EBEN took the past six months to dive deep into his artistry and experiment with his overall sound.

“I’ve really embraced who I am,” he explains. “I’ve had a lot of new experiences and met some people who impacted my life. I grew and took in all of these life lessons. I found that fire within myself. I finally became good with who I am. I have control of my destiny now. I’m confident.”

Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare x Charlotte Posenenske from Lara Facco for use by 360 Magazine

CHARLOTTE POSENENSKE × FONDAZIONE ANTONIO DALLE NOGARE

From September 11, 2021 onwards, Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare will be exhibiting Charlotte Posenenske’s first show in Italy, curated by Vincenzo de Bellis.

An internationally acclaimed artist and a figure central to the German minimalist movement, Charlotte Posenenske (1930-1985) worked mainly with sculpture and received numerous accolades in Germany and from the international scene up until her decision, in 1968, to dedicate her life to sociology.

From B to E and more is her first retrospective in Italy, and it traces the evolution of this artist, who died prematurely, by concentrating on a series of some of her best-known works that were created in the span of just over a year. Her artwork is distinguished by its radically open-ended nature: embracing concepts of repetition and industrial fabrication, Posenenske developed a form of minimalism that, unlike her American contemporaries, addressed the socioeconomic and political concerns of 1968 in order to redesign the status quo of the art market and reject the established cultural hierarchies.

In these years of pandemic and social protests driven by an ever-increasing apprehension of economic polarization, Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare is exhibiting Charlotte Posenenske: from B to E and more with the aim of confronting the dynamics that govern the world’s economic structures and especially those of the contemporary art system. It does this through the work of an artist who focused on these issues over 50 years ago, indicating that, despite the progress of our civilization, cyclically we face the same concerns, even if they are generated by events of a profoundly different nature.

The exhibition is staged with the kind support of Provincia autonoma di Bolzano.

VILLAGERS – SO SIMPATICO

VILLAGERS UNVEIL NEW SONG AND VIDEO FOR SO SIMPATICO

FIFTH ALBUM, FEVER DREAMS, OUT AUGUST 20TH

As the release of Villagers fifth album Fever Dreams edges closer – due August 20 via Domino – Conor O’Brien is delighted to unveil the second song from the upcoming record. The new track, So Simpatico, begins with twinkling glockenspiel and intimate vocals, before swelling to a transformative and mesmerizing refrain from O’Brien: “The more I know, the more I care.”

Conor says of So Simpatico, “Its a song of devotion, whether to a person, the self, or the art of being, a struggle for authenticity is at its core. We all jammed and recorded an early version with too many words, and I took it home and simplified it until it was as pure an expression as possible. Its a pop song about the essence of love.”

Director Rosie Barrett adds about the video, “So Simpatico is a journey of awakening and self-reflection of a sad clown finding love within himself and sparking that zest for life that was lost some time ago. Creating a visual narrative for this beautiful song was a joy as I have been long admiring Conor’s music. I had the pleasure of working with a brilliant cast and crew in the making and I am very excited to see this video out in the world.”

Fever Dreams is a paean to human connection. The songs on the album were found in many places, from connections at County Meath’s Another Love Story festival and night swimming on a Dutch island to Flann O’Brien, Audre Lorde, David Lynch, L. S. Lowry via the library music of Piero Umiliani and Alessandro Alessandroni and jazz from Duke Ellington and Alice Coltrane. O’Brien says on the gestation of Fever Dreams, “I had an urge to write something that was as generous to the listener as it was to myself. Sometimes the most delirious states can produce the most ecstatic, euphoric, and escapist dreams.”

There are 4 different album artworks for Fever Dreams, all related to the album’s themes through constellations included in Ptolemy’s 2nd-century list of 48 constellations: Ursa Major (bear), Aquila (eagle), Cassiopeia (elk) & Serpens (snake). O’Brien adds, “I think constellations as representations of how we search for shapes, meaning, and pattern in order to gain a sense of control over our existence and lives.”

Fever Dreams follows The Art Of Pretending To SwimDarling Arithmetic{Awayland} and Becoming A Jackal. Conor O’Brien also has a string of accolades under his belt including two Ivor Novello Awards, two Mercury Music Prize nominations and is a previous winner of Ireland’s Choice Music Prize.

Additionally, Villagers’ music has featured in the BBC/Hulu series Normal People and their Spotify session of Nothing Arrived has hit over 165 million streams.

Also, Villagers’ have announced a run of UK instore shows for August before they head out on their headline Irish and UK tour in autumn. Having already sold out two dates at Dublin’s Vicar Street, a third has been added.

Tanya Snyder illustration via Alex Bogdan for use by 360 Magazine

Tanya Snyder

By: Hannah Beck

The Washington Football Team announced on Tuesday morning that Tanya Snyder, wife of Dan Snyder (the current owner and CEO of the team), would be joining Dan Snyder as co-CEO. She is already a co-owner of the professional football team with her husband, and has been heavily involved with the team since Snyder bought it in 1999. Tanya has been a huge component of the team’s charitable work since 1999, and has also been involved in many league actions. Additionally, Tanya helped establish the NFL’s Think Pink campaign after she fought breast cancer. With the team currently rebranding themselves, appointing Tanya as co-CEO will be a great help.

The team has been somewhat nameless for a year or so, but plans to have an official team name for the 2022 season. Currently, the team is going by the title “the Washington Football Team,” after deciding to change their name due to their previous title’s racially insensitive roots. The team is also working to move on from sexual misconduct allegations brought forth from team cheerleaders. Both of these incidents have given the team a chance to re-establish themselves in the league, and Tanya is determined to help. Coming up with more charitable opportunities and new team values and standards, The Washington Football Team has a positive, new face with Tanya Snyder.

The announcement was met with mixed reviews, as the public is well aware of the scandals the team has faced in the past. Some fans feel that the team appointing Tanya is just a publicity stunt. Many think that the team is using Tanya’s positive reputation within the league, and the fact that she is a female, as a way to bounce back from the team’s negative press. Regardless, this is still a fantastic feat for women in sports. Tanya Snyder joins only two other women who have held positions of this caliber in the NFLAmy Trask of the Los Angeles Raiders and Kim Pegula of the Buffalo Bills.

While finding women involved in professional football, and in the sports world at large, is now more common than it once was, women holding this much power in a sports setting is still a rarity. There are thirty two NFL teams, some with more than one owner. This means that these three women only make up roughly 9% of league owners. This low number–coupled with the fact that many believe Tanya’s promotion to co-CEO was for positive press, rather than due to her extensive knowledge of football and long standing involvement in the league–demonstrate how much room for growth there is in the football community for women’s involvement.

While I think that the promotion is based on Tanya’s long-standing action and work within the community, many believe otherwise. Despite the reason she was appointed co-CEO, it’s fantastic to see a woman hold such power in a male-dominated field. Breaking into the sports world is incredibly hard for anyone–player, team owner, or manager– and it is 10 times harder to do so as a woman. The public constantly questions if women know enough to be qualified to hold their position in the sports industry. Tanya Snyder’s promotion to co-CEO is a great step forward for women in sports, and especially women in football.

The involvement of women in football–from 49ers coach Katie Sowers, who was the first woman to appear in a Super Bowl, to Tanya Synder–these women are showing young girls who have an interest in sports that it is possible to break through barriers. These women prove that it is possible to become a powerful woman within the league. Hopefully, Tonya Snyder can help the Washington Football Team combat their negative press and rebrand themself as a winning, socially forward, and gender inclusive team.

Mobility Brand Lynk & Co Pledges Gender Equality for use by 360 Magazine

MOBILITY BRAND LYNK & CO PLEDGES GENDER EQUALITY

The automotive industry is a dinosaur. Existing for over 100 years and failing to adapt fast enough to society as it evolves.

New research from global mobility brand Lynk & Co and global market & consumer data analysts, Statista, compared gender ratios from some of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers and found that the industry has large equality gaps. On average, automotive brands are 15% female, with numbers ranging from 30% at the top and 2% at the very low end.

In response to the seriousness of the problem, Lynk & Co is pledging to achieve an equal 50/50 gender split across the company by the end of 2021 and an equal 50/50 split in management positions by the end of 2023.

While Lynk & Co tends to define itself as a mobility brand, it is still, in many ways, part of the automotive industry. Lynk & Co was founded as an alternative to traditional car brands, and the company is dedicated to creating a more fair, progressive and sustainable society. Sure, diverse teams are linked to increased profitability. But (much) more importantly: it’s also simply the right thing to do. Huge numbers of talented people are still being excluded and discriminated against based on factors like gender.

“The gatekeepers of the automotive industry have excluded women, and pretty much anyone that isn’t a straight white man, for too long. Lynk & Co is committed to changing that. How can we create solutions that work for everyone, if we don’t have everyone at the table?” – Alain Visser, CEO of Lynk & Co

In general, Lynk & Co is doing well compared to others in the industry…but it’s a pretty low bar. Lynk & Co currently has a 3X better ratio than the industry average (15%), with 45% of the team identifying as female. The industry numbers are bleak when it comes to women in management as well, with an average of 11% women in management teams and 18% female board directors. At Lynk & Co, 33% of management teams are made up of women and there is an even 50/50 split at board director level.

What’s more, recent studies have shown that companies with a larger representation of females offer a higher financial return and a more collaborative and innovative workforce, proving equality is a powerful strength to drive a company forward when encouraged and utilized.

“Equality within the workplace should not just be a goal or a target, what we have found is that it is absolutely critical to the growth & productivity of a company. If people are held back, then we shall never move forward as an industry. Today we have revealed some truly sobering statistics and we are not perfect. That is why we’re setting ourselves a challenging and bold pledge to have a total parity between genders across our entire workforce by the end of 2023.” – Telma Negreiros, VP of PR and Communications

Lynk & Co has taken immediate action in developing a long-term strategy to further improve gender equality and diversity across the brand in the future.
