Risks of Snacking While Driving for use by 360 Magazine

RISKS OF SNACKING WHILE DRIVING

As drivers around the country excitedly hit the road for their summer vacations after being stuck at home for the past year, they’re thinking about fuel—not just fuel for their cars, but also fuel for their bodies. They’re getting that fuel from a variety of snacks they indulge in while behind the wheel—from sweet to savory to salty options.

A recent Insure.com survey on favorite foods to eat while driving, asks 1,000 drivers what they prefer to munch on in the car, and the majority of them, 39%, say candy bars are their favorite driving food.

Other popular snacks for those with a sweet tooth include doughnuts (18%), ice cream cones (7%) and muffins (5%). On the other hand, those who crave something more savory turn to French fries (37%), breakfast sandwiches (25%), chicken nuggets (23%) and hamburgers (19%), while the more health conscious report that fresh fruit (20%), granola or energy bars (20%) and yogurt (2%) are their favorite driving fuel.

Consequences of Snacking While Driving

Although 74% of drivers say they realize eating behind the wheel is a form of distracted driving, they have several reasons for doing it anyway:

  • Staying on schedule during a road trip — 22%
  • Convenience — 21%
  • Long commutes — 20%
  • Saving time on the road to spend more time at the destination — 19%
  • Not having time to eat at home or at a restaurant — 13%
  • Rarely cook — 5%

Whatever the reason drivers have for munching while motoring, there can be serious consequences. While 59% of drivers say they’ve managed to avoid an accident and a ticket despite stuffing their faces on the road, others have not been so lucky:

  • 15% nearly missed having an accident
  • 12% had a fender bender (damage under $2,000)
  • 6% had a major accident (damage over $2,000)
  • 4% were pulled over by police for a traffic violation

Eating while driving can also raise insurance rates, even among the best car insurance companies. Insure.com rate analysis finds that those with a distracted driving ticket on their record see a 22% average increase in their rates, as well as the loss of their safe driver discounts, which can shave 10% to 25% off premiums.

“Eating while driving may satisfy your hunger, but it could leave your wallet empty if you have to pay for car repairs, tickets and higher insurance rates,” notes Les Masterson, managing editor for Insure.com. “If you do have tickets or accidents that increase your auto insurance rates, be sure to shop around and get quotes from multiple car insurance companies. Although your current insurer may raise your rates, you still may be able to get a deal from another company.”

GZA the Genius × Virgil Abloh – Liquid Swords (Amen Break Version)

GZA The Genius x Louis Vuitton Release Music Video Liquid Swords (Amen Break Version)

GZA The Genius teams up with Louis Vuitton to release Liquid Swords (Amen Break Version), premiering on Friday, July 2nd at 9:00AM (EST). This collaboration between Louis Vuitton and GZA features a set partly derived from the artwork and packaging of his seminal and critically acclaimed album Liquid Swords.

Watch the premiere of Liquid Swords (Amen Break Version) on Friday, July 2nd at 9:00AM (EST), HERE.

Recently, GZA collaborated with Benji B and Virgil Abloh to create a film, Amen Break, for the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2022 Collection.

In 1995, the Brooklyn-born hip-hop artist GZA released the album Liquid Swords, named after the 1993 film Legends of the Liquid Sword. Underpinned by the teachings of martial arts – already a recurring motif in the work of his group, Wu-Tang Clan – the record further integrated elements from the 1980 film Shogun Assassin and dealt with philosophical themes analogized through the game of chess. GZA employed the virtues of composure native to martial arts to express values of mental strength through physical self-discipline. His contributions to hip-hop made it a truly global, bringing elements of the far east to New York, creating an almost mythological New York City, that became the basis of inspiration for this year’s Louis Vuitton’s men’s spring summer 2022 fashion show and features in the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2022 film.

GZA is a true pioneer of many of the elements of hip-hop. His visionary storytelling style and groundbreaking ability to mix double entendres with rhyming couplets that compliment cinematic beats has made him one of the most important MCs of all time.

G HERBO – 25

Preparing for a massive summer, chart-topping phenom and platinum-selling G Herbo just uncovered the tracklisting for his anxiously awaited fourth full-length album, 25, in advance of its release this Friday, July 2, 2021.

Pre-order/Pre-save 25 here (via Machine Entertainment Group).

Setting the stage, he also shared the official album trailer. Watch it here.

With 25, G Herbo has assembled his biggest, boldest, and the best body of work to date. Among these 19 tracks, he recruited a cohort of A-list collaborators, including Polo G and Lil Tjay on “Cry No More,” 21 Savage on “T.O.P.,” and The Kid LAROI and Gunna on “You Can’t.” Through and through, his authoritative flows, incisive choruses, and raw heart shine.

He bulldozed a path for the project earlier this year with “Break Yoself,” and “Really Like That.” The FADER attested, “The tracks feel like siblings with their gunmetal-black sounds and visions of violence and wealth, though I can imagine turning up to ‘Really Like That’.” Plus, 25 boasts the fan-favorite “Statement,” nearing 10 million streams

G Herbo is back, and he’s ready to flip the game upside down once and for all on 25.

ABOUT G HERBO:

After quietly grinding for years out of his native Chicago, G Herbo established himself as not only a platinum-selling, chart-topping phenomenon but also as a staunch mental health advocate and proponent for change in the black community. Following a string of acclaimed projects, his critically celebrated third album PTSD bowed at #7 on the Billboard Top 200, received praise from Rolling Stone as “his most vulnerable album to date,” and yielded one of the most important songs of 2020 – the platinum-certified title track “PTSD” [feat. Juice WRLD, Lil Uzi Vert, & Chance the Rapper]. Additionally, he launched the Swervin’ Through Stress youth mental health program which was recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30. To further his commitment to championing these causes, he is also remodeling an old, shuttered, public elementary school into a community center in Chicago. G Herbo remains a pillar of hip-hop and the culture.

I had the immense privilege of writing this song with the extraordinary Justin Tranter, Oak Felder and Carol Ades. We wrote, recorded and produced this record in a few hours; it was magical, said Carson.

The song is a beautiful marriage of R&B and Pop. Throughout the record, a prominent bass line acts as the heartbeat of the song, as Carson’s soulful vocals sing, He loves me, loves me, loves me, but… turning heartbreak into a witty celebration of freedom.

The visual story of the music video is told through the element of Earth. Directed by Uri Schutzer, the music video delivers a stunning and captivating visual as Carson performs striking choreography before the setting desert sun.

This is a deeply personal record for me…and I’m so happy to share it with the world. I hope that whoever listens to this song, hears a part of their story in mine. says Carson.

MADE TELEVISION DEBUT PERFORMING BEAT BOX DURING 2021 BET AWARDS PRE-SHOW

Rising Florida rap star SpotemGottem unveils the dynamic music video for track Dirty Diana from Most Wanted, the aptly titled mixtape released earlier this year that affirmed his status as Florida’s next up. Fresh off going platinum with his breakout single Beat Box, SpotemGottem’s Dirty Diana video is a Rice Cognac directed visual in which SpotemGottem effortlessly raps while the record pulsates around him with authentic street energy.

Watch the video above or listen to the full project at all digital retailers HERE.

On Sunday, SpotemGottem made his television debut during the 2021 BET Awards pre-show where he performed a high-energy minute-long performance of his viral hit Beat Box alongside JuneBug. Watch the clip HERE.

About SpotemGottem

At just 19 years of age, SpotemGottem caught the attention of the Florida rap scene and is ready to take over. In April 2020, the Jacksonville-based artist released Final Destination, a 13-track project featuring the explosive viral sensation Beat Box that has taken the world by storm. The immense cultural impact of the record is evident in the range of remixes that the massive hit has seen over the past few months. With heavyweights like DaBaby, Mulatto, Shenseea, Pooh Sheisty, Polo G, and NLE Choppa (among many others) having adopted their own remixes, the song continues to rise alongside SpotemGottem’s momentum. In just the past few months alone the artist has gained playlist adds from Spotify’s coveted Rap Caviar, Teen Party, and Most Necessary as well as Apple Music’s Rap Life, Global Hits, Future Hits and The Plug. He’s also landed playlist covers from Spotify’s Internet People and Apple Music’s On Repeat. This past week, Beat Box rose to the #1 spot at Urban Radio as Geffen’s second #1 record just this year. The song, which rose to the #1 spot in dramatic fashion as the greatest spin gainer of the week, also just reached the major milestone of surpassing the Platinum mark with 1 million equivalent sales.

With cosigns of major hip hop heavyweights for his seemingly effortless freestyles and hard-hitting beats, SpotemGottem has officially earned his place among one of the most recognized talents to come from the Florida scene. Now at nearly 6M monthly listeners on Spotify alone, and over 1M created on TikTok with Beat Box, his explosive rise continues to reach previously untapped corners of the music scene. The song alone has gained recognition from VULTURE, PAPER, COMPLEX, STEREOGUM, XXL and HIP HOP DX to name a few, and landed him on COMPLEX’s coveted Rappers To Watch in 2021 list. The young talent shows no signs of slowing down and continues to prove himself as one of the top artists to watch in 2021 and beyond. Now, while he continues to collaborate with some of the top names in music to add their own spin to Beat Box, he is gearing up to deliver his forthcoming project out later this year.

Bold and brash, she holds nothing back – SPIN

An artist who’s as great at writing a hook as she is at singing one – BILLBOARD

Exudes an infectious sense of confidence that provides an aura of empowerment for her listeners – V MAGAZINE

Playful – PAPER

With a sharp voice and an even sharper pen, trailblazing iconoclast UPSAHL shares a reimagined, stripped down version of her bright, buoyant (Billboard) new single Melatonin, another tremendous example of her musical depth and prowess via Arista Records. As she sings earnestly of Insomnia, the track glides between dreamy production swells to a danceable funk bassline. Her voice ebbs and flows with stark confessions, I think I had too much to drink and I got issues in my mind, and I gotta face ‘em.

The hook instantly captivates you, exemplifying UPSAHL’s witty songwriting craft. Insomnia now has a bop of its own. If sleeplessness sounds this appealing, who wants to go to bed anyway, Billboard muses. READ MORE HERE

I wrote ‘Melatonin’ shortly after the breakup that inspired my song ‘Douchebag,’ UPSAHL explains. I wasn’t sleeping. I was super anxious and had crazy insomnia. Melatonin is about being so overwhelmed with your emotions that you can’t even escape your problems in your dreams. That said, I wanted people to be able to dance in their dreams and have a little fun while they can’t sleep, so we made the production feel like a party!

MORE VIA PAPER HERE

On the visuals, she added, The director, George Gallardo, and I wanted to show what ‘sleep paralysis’ would look like as a person, someone who can make your best dreams feel dark. I go on a journey with this sleep paralysis character, ultimately leading to a nightmare. In the beginning, the character is sexy. I’m intrigued, just like a new romantic relationship. Once I’m taken into this dream world, which seems like an escape at first, shit begins to hit the fan. This character figuratively and literally kicks my ass! Even though the video is quite literally about anxiety in dreams, I think the arc of it is very similar to the arc of failed relationships. They can start off amazing, but when they end, it can fuck you up.

UPSAHL recently announced a run of fall dates across the U.S. opening for Olivia OߣBrien kicking off August 30th at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA. She will also make her first-ever headline show debut at the Courtyard Theatre in London this fall on October 12th.

Happy Endings, UPSAHL’s recent collaboration with Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park and iann dior,  climbed up to #9 on the Alternative Top 40 Radio Chart. She also logged a second entry with her feature on DREAMERS’ Palm Reader with Big Boi currently sitting at #28 on the chart. Additional highlights include her breakout hit Drugs eclipsing 100 million streams followed by People I Don’t Like at 50 million streams.

UPSAHL’s full-length debut album is due out this October. More info to follow.

About UPSAHL

Early in her career, UPSAHL released songs which gained much-deserved recognition throughout the Phoenix music scene. As a graduate of the Arizona School for the Arts, she went on to ignite a groundswell of fan adoration and tastemaker praise by way of numerous indie alternative gems. Can You Hear Me Now achieved a palpable viral buzz followed by the widely praised single Drugs, which has been used in nearly 2,000,000 TikTok videos, reaching #6 on the TikTok Viral Chart and #1 Sound on the TikTok Trends Chart. It has also been featured in clips posted by the likes of James Charles, Charly Jordan, Alex French, Jason Derulo, and more. Drugs led to a momentous year for the up-and-coming indie-pop queen, according to Alternative Press.

2019 saw UPSAHL take the stage at Lollapalooza and support acts including PVRIS, Joywave, BROODS, and Young the Giant. Additionally, YouTube claimed UPSAHL as their Artist on the Rise, Nylon proclaimed, She’s on her rock star ish, and NME declared she has a knack for fusing fizzy hooks with her drawling delivery of pithy lyrics. The result, her vibrant alt-pop bops.

2020 was a standout year for UPSAHL, releasing her second EP Young Life Crisis, which Billboard crowned as one of the top 25 pop albums of 2020. Earlier in the year, UPSAHL undertook her first co-write on Good in Bed for Dua Lipa’s GRAMMY Award winning blockbuster, Future Nostalgia, and recently lent her pen to Madison Beer on her fiery single BOYSHIT, as well as Mike Shinoda’s upbeat anthem Happy Endings, which features her and iann dior. Complete with throwback alternative vibes and her signature unfiltered lyricism, UPSAHL’s new singles Douchebag and Melatonin are out now, off of her highly anticipated full-length debut album due out in October 2021.

Janset × Oh Yes!

Janset returns with a brand new video for her optimistic bilingual rap track, “Oh Yes!”. Watch the video here

Directed by Ben Brook, the video opens following Janset in an off-license as she explains the Turkish phrase which helped inspire the track, ‘Tabii Ki De Gelecek’ (which translates as “Of course it will come/happen/become real”). The visual then sees Janset performing the track across various locations, showcasing her undeniable swagger and impressive flow.

“Oh Yes!” marks the latest release in a series of singles from various global artists to be released on Red Bull Records. Dedicated to discovering and showcasing talent on an international scale, Janset is the latest ground-breaking artist to partner with the label.

Speaking on “Oh Yes!”, Janset said; “I wanted to write a song about attracting good things in difficult times, and semi-highlighting that perception changes everything, therefore if we want to change our reality, we’ve got to first change our thoughts. A feel-good mantra of a song, which I hope would uplift people’s spirits. I was curious as to what makes other people shout ‘OH YES!’ too. As for me, it was a moment when things started to make sense… like an ‘ah-a’ moment creatively. When you believe in yourself… things fall into place.”

MC, rapper, and musician, Janset continually proves her versatility as a writer and lyricist. With a string of solo releases in recent years, Janset has demonstrated her ability to transcend genre and fearlessness around trying new sounds – from grime and alternative hip-hop to trap and jazz – her thought-provoking words and powerful flow always stealing the show.

Raised in North London – by Turkish/Circassian parents who’d migrated to the UK in the ’80s, Janset has continued to develop her writing to incorporate both languages and has amassed supporters in both Turkey and the UK – taking on more creative control than ever before and shooting videos that depict parallels between the lifestyles of Istanbul and London.

“Oh Yes!” throws down a powerful marker of Janset’s exciting culture-blending sound and sees her ready to take center stage as an exciting artist to watch in 2021.
