The Alzheimer’s Association Joins National Charity League

The Alzheimer’s Association and National Charity League (NCL) announced a new partnership today aimed at educating and engaging 200,000 NCL members in local communities in the fight against Alzheimer’s.

The Alzheimer’s Association and NCL will work together to create greater awareness of Alzheimer’s Association resources, programs, care, and support services for families impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementia in communities served by NCL members, while engaging members in the Association’s volunteer, education, awareness and fundraising initiatives.

The Alzheimer’s Association is pleased to join with National Charity League to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and to engage its members in the fight against Alzheimer’s,” said Stephanie Rohlfs-Young, senior director of volunteer & community engagement, Alzheimer’s Association. “This important partnership will help extend the Alzheimer’s Association reach into communities served by National Charity League, providing more families access to care and support services, while engaging in all our work to end Alzheimer’s.”

Women are at the epicenter of the Alzheimer’s crisis. Nearly two-thirds of the more than 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s are women. In addition, women are more likely to provide care and support to someone living with the disease. The partnership will look to further inform NCL members about Alzheimer’s and other dementia, risk factors, the importance of early diagnosis, and additional important disease-related information.

To kick off the partnership, NCL is sharing resources and educational materials from the Alzheimer’s Association with its members. Resources include links to Alzheimer’s Association support services for individuals and families affected by the disease, including the Association’s 24/7 Helpline. In addition, the Alzheimer’s Association and NCL will focus on three key activities during the first year of the partnership, including:

  •       Increasing concern and awareness of Alzheimer’s and other dementia among NCL members and the general public
  •       Growing social media awareness of the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s
  •       Supporting Alzheimer’s Association fundraising efforts, particularly those benefiting senior care communities in their hometowns

“National Charity League looks forward to working with the Alzheimer’s Association,” said Jennifer Lane, NCL, Inc. Board President. “Empowered through the expertise offered by the Alzheimer’s Association, our members will learn more about Alzheimer’s and dementia and be able to take action in local communities supporting families across the United States.”

After receiving an electrical engineering degree from the University of Southern California, he pursued a path in music production, drawing equally from his carefully honed musicality and edgy ingenuity. Gryffin made his breakthrough in 2016 with two singles showcasing his melodic take on dance music: “Heading Home” ft. Josef Salvat (which shot to #1 on Spotify’s US and Global Viral charts) and the Bipolar Sunshine collaboration “Whole Heart.” In addition, his 2017 smash single “Feel Good”—with Illenium and featuring Daya— peaked at #18 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay charts. Gryffin’s major triumphs also include “Tie Me Down” ft. Elley Duhé (which hit #2 on the Spotify US Viral Chart and #9 on the Global Viral Chart), “Remember” ft. Zohara (which garnered 6.5 million streams in its first few weeks and earned support from Tiesto, who featured the track on an Instagram story), and “All You Need to Know” with SLANDER ft. Calle Lehmann (a gold-certified smash that’s now surpassed 100 million streams). Arriving in October 2019, Gryffin’s debut album Gravity quickly climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

Sael’s “Me enseaste”

The young singer-songwriter and producer from Argentina: Sael, presents his new single “Me enseaste”, a song that the artist himself defines as “romantic reggaeton”, and which will be released together with its official music video.

“Me enseaste” was born under the record label of Black Koi Entertainment, an initiative of the musical genius Sky Rompiendo, responsible for many of the great musical successes of J Balvin’s career, and who today has his focus on the success of his artist Sael. The song was written and produced by Sael himself, with “Mosty” as a mixing and mastering engineer.

The official music video for “Me enseaste” has a true feeling of nostalgia, “sponsored” by the cold weather and the characteristic white snowfalls during this time of the year in Argentina.

In the audiovisual piece, Sael unloads his feelings in a lonely reflection, longing for a lost love and, at the same time, makes very clear to his audience his great vocal range and the versatility that he enjoys in his voice.

Sael’s most recent single Verificada has more than 1.8 million views on YouTube and as the artist states, I’m ready to sing live and enjoy all this work we’ve been doing in the studio and show my supporters that I have much more to give.

GOONBOX by Chris Murray

Tenacious Toys is pumped to announce their next exclusive toy drop: the Rap Kings GOONBOX Gold Edition 7-inch vinyl art toy designed by Chris B. Murray and produced with care by Clutter Studios.

This is the first vinyl art toy by Philly artist Chris B. Murray who is best known for his illustrations and prints.

Chris grew up studying hip hop culture, which has driven his design sensibility as well as his work as a professional artist. His ongoing Rap Kings illustrated series highlights the groups he grew up listening to as well as current day artists. It started as a poster series, extended into other merchandise, and then ultimately led him to create the series first vinyl toy, GOONBOX!

The concept for the GOONBOX character is an intentionally vague mashup born out of the hip hop era—a gritty street character that incorporates pieces of some of Chris’ favorite rappers, groups and various elements of hip hop culture. Many references can be found all over this figure: the camo pants, the bees, the pigeons, the backpack, the manhole cover, the flower.

The Tenacious exclusive Gold Edition GOONBOX ES are limited to just 50 pieces and priced at $149.99. They will drop on the Clutter page at noon EST on Tuesday, July 13th.

About Chris B. Murray

Chris B. Murray is a fine artist/commercial illustrator living and working out of Philadelphia, PA (originally from upstate NY). From an early age, Chris immersed himself in everything that dealt with pop culture. His most favorite being hip-hop and everything surrounding the culture including graffiti art, sneaker hoarding/streetwear fashion and most importantly, the attitude. Every aspect of it was so very inspiring to Chris. He even goes as far to say that hip hop and the culture revolving it played a major role in raising him through his formative years. Those very same influences are deeply rooted in the work he is still making today from the vast array of color usage and character treatment, the inventive narratives to the meticulous compositions and concepts. Chris has been disciplined in using a variety of media on various surfaces to create his imagery.

POORSTACY Releases Children of the Dark

Today, South Florida rock artist POORSTACY releases his latest single “Children of the Dark,” out now via 10K Projects. The second single released ahead of his forthcoming album Party at the Cemetery (set to release this fall), Stacy considers “Children of the Dark” to be a precursor to the full album. “‘Children of the Dark’ kind of sets the tone for the album more than anything. It was the record I recorded that really helped me guide the full project. It’s a tribute to the lives of my friends who have died, but it’s also very live and energetic,” he says.

“Death is the one thing everyone’s super afraid of, but it’s the only thing we are promised. I’m choosing to celebrate it instead of being sad,” POORSTACY explains. For the South Florida native, the last few years have been some of his hardest, but they also have given him purpose and conviction like never before.

With his upcoming album Party At The Cemetery, the rock artist pays his respects to his friends who passed away. Self-admittedly, he’s lost really “all [his] original friends,” in one tragedy or another, and the music reflects that. Forged in equal parts pain, apathy and celebration, POORSTACY tells a nuanced story of life and loss with a level of understanding that can only come from someone who has seen it all.

For Stacy, born Carlito Milfort Jr., making a rock album like Party At The Cemetery is not a trend, designed for clout. In fact, he “doesn’t give a fuck” about that kind of thing at all. This is the music that soundtracked his life. Growing up in West Palm Beach, Florida, Stacy fell in love with music by hanging out in the crowds of local shows. “I’ve been going to shows since I was 12 or 13. Slam punk, metalcore, death metal. Lots of satanic shit. I also went to a lot of raves where there was a ton of drum and bass,” he says.

Though the rock and electronic music that he gravitated towards as a kid once seemed like two very different scenes, they both thrived on a true DIY sensibility which Stacy loved. By his late teens, he began releasing his own songs to SoundCloud, in hopes that he could capture that same DIY spirit native to South Florida. Part of the early wave of emo-rap talents on the platform, Stacy penned underground hits like “make up” which gained millions of streams and ushered the subgenre into the mainstream consciousness.

His influence on the streaming platform led him to a deal with Elliot Grainge’s 10K Projects where he began releasing songs with labelmates like producer Nick Mira of Internet Money and iann dior and other talents like Travis Barker and Whethan. With his acclaimed crossover project The Breakfast Club and single “Choose Life” (a nod to the film Trainspotting), Stacy showed his penchant for storytelling and allusion, something which he cements as one of his artistic signatures on Party At The Cemetery.

Even his name is an homage to one of his favorites (skateboarder Stacy Peralta) who inspired POORSTACY with his craftsmanship and his ability to play the long game. “Stacy Peralta himself was not shown a lot of attention at the start, but he ended up being one of the biggest legends in skateboarding in the end. I always loved the idea of that, of doing your own thing and having it pay off.” Just like Peralta, POORSTACY isn’t making music for short term accolades and fame, he’s doing this for the art and legacy of it.

With this boundless interest in pop culture and art, POORSTACY’s first fully fledged rock record Party At The Cemetery is an eclectic collage of the stories, films, friends, and subgenres that have captured his attention and inspired him throughout his life. “I want to incorporate it all into my art. I love ballet. I love Stanley Kubrick. I love Tim Burton. I love Victorian architecture. There’s so much I draw on,” he says.

Summer of Sorcery Live!

Professionally filmed and recorded before a sold-out crowd at New York City’s historic Beacon Theatre on November 6, 2019, the live concert extravaganza, Summer Of Sorcery Live! At The Beacon Theatre, expertly captures Little Steven, aka Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stevie Van Zandt, bringing the house down with his band the Disciples of Soul as they showcase their acclaimed 2019 album, Summer Of Sorcery, a 12-track record about the first rush of summer and the electric feeling of unlimited possibilities.

The full two-and-a-half-hour concert – the triumphant hometown culmination of the Summer of Sorcery’s European and U.S. tours – is out now via Wicked Cool Records/UMe in a variety of formats including Blu-ray video as well as audio-only versions on 3CD and as a limited edition 5LP 180-gram “Psychedelic Psorcery Pswirl” color vinyl box set, which is exclusively available via uDiscoverMusic  and LittleSteven.com. The Blu-ray features the entire concert in HD video with the audio offered in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound to provide the next best possible experience to being at the rock ‘n’ soul revue. The live album, which was mixed by Bob Clearmountain and mastered by Bob Ludwig, both career-long collaborators, includes thrilling performances of every song from Summer of Sorcery alongside tracks from throughout Van Zandt’s solo career, songs he wrote for Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, and some souped-up covers.

Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul were joined throughout the Summer of Sorcery tour by an array of legendary friends and family. Summer of Sorcery Live! At The Beacon Theatre is highlighted by a surprise appearance by the one and only Peter Wolf, who lends his inimitable vocals to powerhouse versions of J Geils Band’s “Freeze Frame” and Artists United Against Apartheid’s landmark protest anthem, “Sun City.”

Summer Of Sorcery Live! At The Beacon Theatre is rounded out with nearly an extra hour of live music featuring seven previously unreleased bonus performances recorded throughout 2017-2019, including with such superstar special guests as Australian music legends Jimmy Barnesand Peter Garrett, longtime friend and E Street Band bandmate Nils Lofgren, and the legendary Nick Gravenites, who joins Van Zandt for a spectacular rendition of the Electric Flag’s“Groovin’ Is Easy.” In addition, Peter Wolf returns for an explosive cover of The Showstoppers’hit, “(Ain’t Nothin’ But A) Houseparty,” recorded during the Soulfire Tour but, according to Van Zandt, “too good to leave on the shelf.” The festivities come to a rousing conclusion with a star-studded version of “Sun City,” which edits together performances with Jimmy Barnes, Jake Clemons, Sam Fender, Peter Garrett, Courtney Hadwin, Garland Jeffreys and Bruce Springsteen.

“We were born freaks, misfits, and outcasts,” Van Zandt writes in the album’s liner notes, which also include personal comments about each performance. “We got into this business because no other would have us. While we were here we figured we might as well create a world of our own, because we didn’t fit in the one we were being offered. Being on the road with a band is the ultimate manifestation of that fantasy. Together you travel, you perform, you dispense joy, and you get to see the world while avoiding it at the same time.

“Such was the case with the troubadour missionaries and part-time exorcists known as the Disciples of Soul as they sprinkled enlightenment to a dark world from May 27, 2017 to November 6, 2019. First as the Soulfire was lit in the overture and finally as the Summer of Sorcery played out its magical denouement. Herein embodies the still sparkling evidence of the latter, that which began as stranger’s prayers imagined and ended as a family’s promise fulfilled. Enjoy it at as much as we did at whatever volume is required to force your neighbors to call the cops.”

Arranged and produced by Van Zandt, with production assistance by GRAMMY® Award-winner Geoff Sanoff (Bruce Springsteen, Stephen Colbert). Summer of Sorcery Live! At The Beacon Theatre kicks off with a very special introduction from counterculture icon Wavy Gravy and from there traverses across Little Steven’s genre-smashing body of work, from Summer of Sorceryand 2017’s acclaimed solo return, Soulfire through classic songs and fan favorites from the songwriter, guitarist and band leader’s illustrious career, including an incendiary three-song salvo celebrating his work with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes (“Little Girl So Fine,” “Trapped Again,” and “Love On The Wrong Side Of Town”). Further highlights include spectacular covers of The Youngbloods’ “On Sir Francis Drake,” The Dovells’ “Bristol Stomp,” The Animals’ “Club-A-Go-Go,” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Tucson Train.”

Summer of Sorcery arrived in May 2019 and was immediately greeted by worldwide critical applause with Rolling Stone exclaiming, “it largely dispenses with protest songs and revels in the rock, soul and R&B of his Sixties youth,” adding it’s “the most eclectic record he’s ever made.” Van Zandt and his collaborators “pull out all the stops to make this sonic smorgasbord explode out of the speakers with passion and clout,” wrote American Songwriter. “Few artists have the artistic vision to pull off a thunderous production like this which is impressive in its scope and sheer booming audio audacity.” “A happy return for the Jersey Shore prince,” declared MOJO, while Classic Rock raved, “(Van Zandt’s) tangible labour of love defiantly captures old-school New York’s cross-pollinating melting pot with rich infusions of Latin (‘Party Mambo!’), blues (‘I Visit The Blues’), blaxploitation (‘Vortex’), classic rock ‘n’ roll (‘Superfly Terraplane’), Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes (‘Soul Power Twistin’’) and still making a social point on ‘Education,’” adding, “This unashamed celebration of endangered music and city life also makes a great party soundtrack.” “It’s all but impossible not to be impressed by the scope of Little Steven’s vision,” wrote All Music, “and the skill with which he and his collaborators bring it to fruition…Imagine Asbury Park, New Jersey encompassing an entire musical planet and you’ll have an idea of what Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul are doing on Summer of Sorcery, and if you dig rockin’ soul, this should be right up your alley.”

Van Zandt recently announced the publication of his first ever memoir, Unrequited Infatuations, due September 28 from Hachette Books; pre-orders are available now HERE. An epic tale of self-discovery, Unrequited Infatuations chronicles the twists and turns of Van Zandt’s always surprising life, from a bedroom in suburban New Jersey in the early ‘60s to the world’s largest stages in not only entertainment but activism as well. More than just the testimony of a globe-trotting nomad, more than the story of a groundbreaking activist, more than the odyssey of a spiritual seeker, and more than a master class in rock ‘n’ roll (not to mention a dozen other crafts), Van Zandt’s extraordinary odyssey shows how rock and soul has the power to change the world.

2021 has already seen the release of another live collection, Macca To Mecca!, a spectacular tribute to the Beatles available now via Wicked Cool/UMe on CD/DVD. The 14-track album/concert film – which includes a riveting performance of “I Saw Her Standing There,” recorded at London’s famed Roundhouse and featuring a special appearance by Paul McCartney – captures Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul’s extraordinary surprise set at Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club during the band’s sold out 2017 European tour. The intimate lunchtime gig was a salute to the kind of shows the Beatles used to play in their early days when they would perform for local secretaries, clerks and shopkeepers during their half hour lunch break. Van Zandt decided to bring that unique idea back 50 plus years later for a rollicking, jam-packed daytime set filled that honored the band with rocking renditions of “Magical Mystery Tour,” “Good Morning, Good Morning,” “Got To Get You Into My Life,” and “All You Need Is Love,” alongside iconic songs famously performed by the nascent Fab Four, including “Boys” (originally by The Shirelles), “Slow Down” (by Larry Williams) and “Soldier Of Love” (first recorded by Arthur Alexander).

LAUREN JENKINS EP – MILES ON ME PART 1

“I will always be proud of my first record,” says Lauren Jenkins, “but MILES ON ME is what I hoped NO SAINT could be from start to finish.” MILES ON ME (told in three parts) picks up where NO SAINT left off, telling the unapologetic, brutally honest next chapter of Jenkins’ story.

In 2020 Jenkins and her then-record label parted ways, giving her an independence that she hadn’t had in nearly seven years. “I finally had the freedom to write, record, produce and tell my story exactly the way I wanted to,” she says. “It’s strange to hear your own voice and realize you’ve been whispering for a long time. With this realization, the sparks ignited. I called on my friends and collaborators to make this record with me, and it’s been one of the most beautiful processes of my life.”

Jenkins has been a touring artist since she was 15 years old. The Texas-born, Carolina-raised artist chose a life that would fit perfectly in the songs she writes: across countless smoky bars, fake IDs, and endless miles on the road, music has been her one constant companion. Named an “Artist to Watch” by the New York Times, Billboard, Rolling Stone, Pandora, and many more, she was also chosen as a member of the “Class of 2019” by influential radio DJ Bobby Bones, and made her TODAY Show debut as Elvis Duran’s Artist of the Month. An accomplished actress and filmmaker, Lauren wrote, produced, and starred in an original short film titled Running Out of Road that accompanied the release of her critically-acclaimed debut album, NO SAINT, on Big Machine Records. In May of 2020, she released “Ain’t That Hard,” her first song as a fully independent artist.

What Will Happen To The Gates Foundation?

Commentary by Samy Dwek, Founder and CEO, The Family Office Doctor

and White Knight Consulting

We’ve seen in the press today articles about the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It was a foundation that they started with a very clear purpose and focus on helping third world countries, eradicating certain diseases, and researching diseases such as Parkinson’s, HIV, and others. It’s phenomenal in terms of what they’re trying to do.

Unfortunately, Melinda French Gates and Bill Gates have decided to separate. How does this impact the family foundation? Yes, they’ve grown apart. They’ve decided to separate their ways amicably. Clearly, their focus points and their desires of what they want to accomplish are different.

The problem is, in most family foundation trusts, people don’t plan for what happens in case of divorce. That’s not in the planning and maybe it should be. Maybe it’s something we need to think more about and discuss more openly. Not that we are preempting or provoking; we should be planning in case of such an eventuality.

The Gates Foundation currently has close to $50 billion. It’s not an insignificant amount of money, and they’re talking about adding another 15 to $20 billion. So again, these are significant amounts of money that can have a major impact on the focus points that these two individuals have.

So how do they go forward? What’s been very interesting is that Melinda French Gates has decided that she’s going to stay on for two years. Let’s see whether they can make this work or whether they fail to get along or see eye to eye on the objectives of the foundation.

Bill Gates has agreed in principle that they will set aside new money into a new foundation controlled by Melinda French so that they can then continue their missions. What does that mean for family foundations? I think they need to have those discussions. They need to put planning in place.

What would happen if this eventuality should occur in your family? How would it impact your family foundation? What mechanisms do you have in place so that you could separate those funds? It doesn’t have to be just in the case of divorce. It could be brothers or sisters decide that they want to go in different directions.

So what mechanisms have you put in place? It’s something to discuss with legal counsel, something to think about because at the end of the day, we’re human beings. We have different ideas and we grow in different ways. But if we’re creating a family foundation, if we’re trying to help benefit others and pass on the goodwill, let’s make sure anything that happens to us doesn’t negatively impact them.

“Put it in motion, chasing endorphins’ is one of my lyrics that describes who I am the most. It was too good to be forgotten so we decided to bring it to life with a new beat and In Motion was born. Reo’s vocals were added on top and it’s a pretty banger.”

Reo Cragun recently made his Capitol Records debut with the mixtape Growing Pains after generating a buzz with singles like “Inconsiderate,” “Peso” and his 2017 collaboration with Nipsey Hussle, “Lost.” EVAN GIIA first teamed up with MEMBA in 2016, featuring on their single “Heat of the Moment” alongside Hoosh. The acclaimed New York-based duo recently launched an ambitious series of four EPs that align with the phases of the moon.

PLNKWIFI said, “there’s always an emotional and physical reaction tied into our favorite songs. EVAN GIIA’s latest single Mood Swings will not only bring out these reactions, but they’ll jump out [as she] gracefully describes the ever-changing state of a whirlwind of emotions.”

“I will always remember 2020 as the year I finally understood my purpose as EVAN GIIA. To uplift, motivate and inspire my fans. Coming from a background in fitness, I have always envisioned people moving, sweating and being active to my songs,” says EVAN GIIA. “While running on the treadmill one morning it dawned on me, I was trying to infuse my fans with endorphins! The EP is an exploration of each way that I experience ENDORPHINS in my life. From watching someone I love sleep to blasting my favorite song while working out, each song embodies a different feeling. I am incredibly proud of this body of work and hope that after listening, my fans will have the motivation to tackle their life head on.”

Released by ODESZA’S Foreign Family Collective in 2018, EVAN GIIA’s breakout single “WESTWORLD” and the accompanying music video propelled her to #1 on Hype Machine. Combined global streams of the song now exceed 20 million. Since the release of “WESTWORLD,” EVAN GIIA has been in sessions with Hudson Mohawke, Georgia Ku, Nate Campany, Kyle Shearer, Chris Lyon, OjiVolta, Kate Morgan, CHVRCHES, What So Not, Matias Mora and Larzz.
