Tay Money Releases New Single Shake

Dallas MC Tay Money is back today with an energetic new single, “Shake,” continuing a red-hot run for the D-Town darling. Over an infectious, colorful instrumental, Tay spits about some of her favorite hobbies: laughing at her haters and shaking the goods she was given.
“Shake” is available now at all digital retailers. Listen HERE.
This new single finds Tay leaning into a more hypnotic sound, trading in rim-rattling bass for clubby drum rhythms and synth stabs. She stretches out and expresses herself via dizzy bars that feel electric and off-the-cuff. Of course, she’s still quintessentially Tay Money, as she spits a lyric that might as well be the basis of her entire philosophy: “Don’t compare me to nobody ‘cuz bitch I’m one of one.” This new track is further proof that there’s nobody else quite like her.
“Shake” continues a thrilling run for Tay, who dropped summer anthem “Walk” earlier this month. That followed a string of hits, including the hard-hitting “PB&J” and the Flo Milli-assisted “Asthma Pump.” That latter track has been buzzing on TikTok for a while, catching the attention of artists and influencers including Lizzo and Sienna Mae. Tay also released her acclaimed Blockedt set at the end of 2020, and the smash “Work Witcha” back in March.
These latest hits feature the unfiltered lyrics and attitude that have made the Dallas artist one to watch. Having been featured on the digital cover of ELEVATOR, and hailed by FLAUNT as “one of the hardest female rappers of our generation,” Tay’s in the midst of a hot streak that stretches back to the release of Blockedt. She made that EP with heavyweights like Derrick Milano (a co-writer on Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer”) and Bankroll Got It (producers of hits like “DO DAT” by Stunna 4 Vegas featuring DaBaby & Lil Baby) — collaborations that fed into the boundary-pushing energy of her tracks since. “Shake” showcases an exciting new side of Tay’s style, highlighting her ability to craft emotionally stirring songs while still sticking to her favorite topics―shaking her assets and making more money than her haters.

Chrishell Stause × DSW Collection

By: Kai Yeo

“I am thrilled to partner with DSW so I can show people how to get that designer look without the designer price tag.” – Chrishell Stause on her collaboration with DSW.

We got the opportunity to celebrate Chrishell Stause and her DSW curated collection last night at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles. Decked out in the Mix No.6 Mesha Sandal from her collaboration with the brand, the Selling Sunset star was joined by celebrities and influencers including Katrina Bowden, Amanda Stanton, Ashley Wahler and more.

Guests admired the new collection at the carnival-themed cocktail party as they posed for photos at the shoe wall, played ring toss (where Chrishell saw us win a teddy bear!) and indulged in specialty cocktails and light bites. The cotton candy bar was also a fan favorite, and constantly had a line forming. The candy floss was shaped into funky animal shapes such as an elephants, unicorns, and even just fun rainbow swirls! Personally, the claw machine was the go-to hot spot. Reminiscent of carnivals and arcades, it was set up with $25–$100 gift cards and socks as consolation prizes; even if you didn’t win a gift card, you’d want to at least go home with some socks (guilty as charged).

Known for her feminine, fun, and flirty style, Chrishell ensured her curated collection was fashionable without sacrificing function– offering trendy as well as timeless options, and a touch of her signature sparkle. “I feel like we finally get to go out again and dress up. And so, I really wanted to have fun and pick colorful pieces that really reflect the summertime and just, you know, summer fun and color,” Stause told FN.

Within the collection, Stause picked a range of styles from slides to sneakers and strappy heeled sandals. The pieces are available on DSW’s ecommerce site and in all 500 stores! The curated capsule collections consist of footwear and accessories that will bring back high wattage glamour in a big way this summer.

Chrishell Stause × DSW Collection

We also got the chance to exchange a couple of words with Chrishell herself. She talked a little bit about wanting to be comfortable and having fun in whatever she wears, especially since we haven’t been able to do much in the past year. P.S.: She is so super sweet!

Not only were we served delicious hors d’oeuvres, but there were also classic sliders and truffle fries available (who can resist a good truffle?), as well as amazing Oreo ice-cream to perfectly end the evening. And we were even gifted a Shiraleah Ombre Lucia Tote goodie bag each to go home with! Perfect for the summer and so easy to pair with everything.

App aims to accelerate in-cab tech development

Fleets benefit when mobile apps play nicely together in the truck cab, says Eleos Technologies CEO, Kevin Survance.

Now, thanks to a new mobile app-to-app connectivity protocol, it will be possible to seamlessly connect commercial trucking solutions like ELDs, workflow and bypass apps, sensors, and cameras.

OpenCab is a new specification from Eleos, aimed at accelerating the development of in-cab technologies for the whole trucking industry.

It enables Android apps running on in-cab devices to securely share information, which in turn will let fleets combine whatever proprietary solutions they prefer—without enlisting each vendor for custom integration work.

This means faster and cheaper development of better user experiences, which don’t require drivers to switch between apps and duplicate their data entry.

Eleos initially created OpenCab so that ELD and telematics vendors could easily integrate with the Eleos workflow platform.

“The spec emerged from building best-in-class driver experiences that required integration with other mobile apps on an in-cab device,” Survance says.

“Our focus is on providing a single pane of glass for drivers—a unified app that can integrate all the functionalities they need to use in their jobs. This means we have to integrate information from other mobile apps.

“Getting these mobile apps to share information often required a great deal of custom integration work. It was a development and maintenance nightmare. We naturally started to look for a way to standardize app-to-app communication.”

Although its direct consumers are trucking app developers, the OpenCab standard also benefits carriers. By offering a simple way to integrate multiple proprietary systems, the spec makes it possible for any fleet to mix and match their preferred applications while improving and simplifying the user experience for their drivers.

“This will offer fleets a way to assemble best-of-breed solutions with greater confidence, and spend less time on costly projects trying to get apps to work with each other,” Survance says.

With a standardized way to connect Android mobile apps in the cab, solution providers and in-house developers can create integrations with other providers, at far less time and cost. Any solution that supports the OpenCab standard will work with any other, rather than requiring custom code or SDKs for every different solution integration.

“From both an engineering and a project implementation perspective, using OpenCab is simply the most efficient thing to do,” Survance says.

“You could go off and create your own way of doing things, but this is a simple, well-documented spec that can help the trucking industry standardize.”

ABOUT JOHNNY YUKON

Much like the recordings of an airplane’s black box, the music of Johnny Yukon chronicles a cloud-scraping personal journey. Spun through a jet stream of lo-fi beatcraft, vintage world-building, hip-hop malleability, and alternative pop eloquence, the Pennsylvania-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer navigates through raw emotions with acute storytelling, head-nodding rhymes, and fits of cathartic falsetto. Even though the ideas often gestate from an intimate personal studio, he projects his vision on the big screen with ambitious scope. After making waves from behind the scenes with songwriting placements for Young Thug, Ty Dolla $ign, Camila Cabello, and Leon Bridges, he made his formal artist debut with Installation I in 2018. Johnny’s influence only amplified throughout the global pandemic, co-writing Internet Money’s multi-platinum mega-smash Lemonade [feat. Gunna, Don Toliver, & NAV], Skepta & Pop Smoke’s F9 soundtrack standout Lane Switcha [feat. A$AP Rocky, Juicy J, & Project Pat], and co-producing Trauma from PARTYNEXTDOOR’s Partymobile, which bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200. Signing to Elektra in early 2021, Johnny continued to write and record at a prolific pace, distilling post-breakup feelings, isolation, and hope into the sonic architecture. Constructing a hub where his emotions and songs may launch from, Johnny Yukon charts a new course forward on his 2021 project, Flight Plan 001.

Everrati × Electrified GT40

Everrati, a leading technology company specialising in the redefining and futureproofing of automotive icons through the integration of advanced electric vehicle powertrains, and Superformance, the leading manufacturer of 1960s-era continuation component sports cars, have formed a strategic partnership – with the first new model being an electrified version of the legendary GT40.

Everrati was founded to further the legacies of some of the most desirable and iconic cars in the world, redefining and precision re-engineering them with state-of-the-art electric drivetrains, maintaining and enhancing the character of the original. Each Everrati is fitted with a custom-designed electric power unit and battery system, leading to enhanced performance and a zero-emissions future.

Superformance offers a full line of high-performance component cars celebrating some of the most iconic vehicles of all time. All vehicles are built under license from trademark holders including GM and SAFIR GT40, adding authenticity and value. Sold as a rolling chassis, a Superformance car can be configured with heritage or modern drivetrains.

The Everrati and Superformance partnership will allow enthusiasts to drive an electric-powered GT40, with development of this first model already underway. A prototype chassis has been built and is being comprehensively adapted from ICE power to advanced electric propulsion at Everrati’s UK development centre in Upper Heyford, a former US air base in the English Cotswolds.

As with all Everrati vehicles, meticulous attention to detail is being applied to key factors such as battery location and weight distribution to maintain and enhance the character and soul of the original. Further details on this first new model from the partnership and reimagined icon will be announced in the coming months.

Justin Lunny, Founder and CEO, Everrati: “This is the perfect partnership. The sole focus of both Everrati and Superformance is iconic cars and Lance and his team are THE guys when it comes to authorised continuation chassis of some of the most legendary cars in history. Marrying these chassis with our advanced EV powertrains and precision engineering will enhance performance while keeping the essence and soul of the original. We aim to create the best electric driver’s cars while, at the same time, future-proofing these true past masters.

“So many legendary cars were created by Anglo American partnerships during the 1960s. In fact, the very first GT40 was brought to life in the early Sixties by a UK-based team led by expat British engineer, Roy Lunn, at Ford Advanced Vehicles in Slough. Its body was even made by Abbey Panels in Coventry, before the finished car was shipped to the US for its unveiling the day before the New York Auto Show, in April 1964.

“So, it feels highly appropriate for Everrati to be partnering with Superformance, furthering not only the legacy of automotive icons but the partnership between the UK and US. Another cross-Atlantic connection is that our development HQ is located on a former US air base in the Oxfordshire countryside.”

Lance Stander, CEO, Superformance: “I’m very excited about the partnership we are announcing today. Justin and the team at Everrati have a compelling vision for the future, along with the engineering pedigree and expertise to reimagine this automotive icon for the 21st century. While I will always love a V8-powered vehicle, there is no doubting the ultra-high performance of Everrati’s advanced EV powertrains. I am genuinely impressed with the lengths to which Everrati goes to maintain the weight distribution and character of the original car. Electrification is the future in so many ways and adds another option for those who love classic sports cars.”

Reasons to Visit Tokyo this Summer

There are plenty of reasons to come to Tokyo this summer. Even during these hot and humid days, there are plenty of ways to appreciate and enjoy this season in Tokyo. If you decide to go, there are plenty of unique ways of immersing in and succumbing to this time of year.

Unagi Day

Doyo No Ushi No Hi, “the Ox Day during Doyo,” is a day in mid July, this year falling on July 28, dedicated to eating unagi or eel. This tradition began in the Edo period. At that time, it was believed that eating unagi during summer would boost stamina and relieve oneself from the oppressive heat and humidity. According to legend, there was an unagi restaurant owner whose business struggled due to his trouble selling unagi in the hot summer. The owner asked a friend, Hiraga Gennai (1728~1780), a well-known physician and pharmacologist, for help. Gennai advised him to place an advertisement in front of the restaurant stating, “Doyo No Ushi No Hi” or Eat Unagi Today, and You Will Never Suffer from Summer Heat.” The restaurant became successful, and soon other restaurants followed. This may be the first instance of commercial copywriting in Japan.

WATERS Takeshiba

In olden days, Tokyo was a city of crisscrossing waterways, often known as the “Venice of the East.” Water transportation became the norm, as warehouses and markets sprung up at each wharf. The surrounding area was soon crowded with workers and residents, as depicted in ubiquitous Ukiyoe woodblock prints of the time. Culturally, people also enjoyed waterside attractions, such as fireworks, which became a popular summertime evening pastime, watched from both the shore and boats. WATERS Takeshiba is the latest waterfront complex that is a modern interpretation of Tokyo’s waterside culture. Ferries and cruise ships depart from this wharf to waterfront neighborhoods. The adjacent buildings also house the fashionable new lifestyle hotel, the Mesm Tokyo, Autograph Collection, as well as restaurants, shops, and three dedicated theaters for the Shiki Theatre Company. WATERS Takeshiba is a not-to-be-missed new Tokyo experience.

Tokyo Tourist Information Centers Are Ready to Welcome Foreign Guests

Tourist information centers inside and outside the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics venues have worked long and hard to prepare for the event and are now welcoming foreign guests.

Village Plaza, a brand-new facility built to host the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics athletes, opened on July 13 in Harumi, Tokyo. To support the life of the athletes and supporting staff during their stay, Village Plaza provides many services such as an internet lounge, café, and post office. Here also is Tokyo City Information, a tourist information center where the smiling staff, all of whom are expert guides of Tokyo tourism, welcome guests and introduce them to Tokyo.

“We know this is a very important time for athletes and other people who stay here,” said the staff, “so we will try to provide the best hospitality and do everything we can to make them feel at ease. And while its not possible for people to visit Tokyo freely at the moment, we will do our best to provide information about the charms and attractions of the city, so that when it becomes safe to travel again people might want to come back.”

Among the special projects to promote future travel to Tokyo is an origami in the shape of Mt. Fuji containing a collection of QR codes of websites that provide a variety of information about Tokyo. Along with the Tokyo City Information facility, they are distributed in two other temporary information centers in Tokyo. The hope is that people will take them home as a souvenir until the next time they visit Japan.

The five Tokyo Tourist Information centers operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government have completed their preparations for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

While the number of people visiting the facility has greatly decreased since the spreading of COVID-19, the staff continues to offer guidance and assistance to Japanese and foreign travelers. The staff is also offering online assistance through the multilingual service “Online Tourist Guide,” where people can use their device to speak with a tourist guide expert that will answer their questions. The Online Tourist Guide is currently available in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean.

The information center is also mindful of accessible tourism, offering special guidance to people with hearing disabilities and providing information about accessibility in Tokyo.

With the opening of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the priority of the Tokyo Tourist Information centers is to ensure that visitors have a safe stay by providing up-to-date information about places in Tokyo. In addition to this, dedicated spaces have been set up with Olympics-related materials and information.

“When the whole situation calms down and people will be able to travel again,” says a staff member, “we would love for them to experience all the different aspects of Tokyo. The traditional atmosphere of places like Asakusa, the modernity and nightlife of Roppongi, even the everyday experiences of punctual trains and peopleʼs good manners are all things that we want to help people discover when they come here.”

For the safety of visitors, all Tokyo Tourist Information centers are implementing measures to prevent the spreading of COVID-19, such as hand sanitizing, social distance, air ventilation and mask use. We appreciate your cooperation with these measures.

WYN 317 Hosting Two Artists – CHNK × Sonni

WYN 317 debuted the latest works of not one, but two iconic artists this past Saturday night, July 10. CHNK and Sonni, presented at this double feature gallery opening. While munching on Frankenfurters Gourmet Dogs and drinking Deep Eddy Vodka the attendees got to experience two very different artists.

CHNK, a local artist, who takes everyday objects and adds his own twist with bright colors to add emotions and movement to the art, opened a pop-up retail experience, adding collectible merch and whimsy to WYN’s hip corner in Little Haiti.

Sprinkling in a little mystery, WYN 317 welcomed Argentina native Sonni, presenting “Mystery in Little Haiti ” a story of isolation, with the help of dry wit, humor, and pop culture references.

This boldly colorful double-feature will be running through Summer at WYN 317 and we would love to have visit the gallery to tour the two new installations at WYN 317.

About CHNK:

CHNK is a prolific mixed media artist from South Florida bringing complex illustrations, fresh color and an emotional perspective to deteriorating everyday objects. After his portfolio submission was rejected six years ago by Maryland Institute College of Arts, he decided to dedicate his energy to being the most active and self-improved creative he could be. Today his work has been featured in over 50 group shows and live art events nationally. CHNK has been a resident of Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) since August of 2016. CHNK is influenced by graffiti aesthetics, classic comic books, typography, grotesque raw emotional imagery, and social human interaction.

About Sonni:

Sonni was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he studied graphic design and worked as an Art Director for animation and film companies, he resides in Brooklyn, New York. In his art, he is constantly searching for that lost moment in adolescence where adventure makes dreams a reality, where the imagination and playing develop invisible forces to re-capture those lost memories from your childhood. He works with different mediums that include paper and pencil, illustrator, acrylic on canvas, and wooden sculptures. Yet, his passion is to paint murals in public spaces, finding that dialogue with the public through primary colors and playfulness!

He was dubbed CHNK by his father at the age of 11 during a graffiti jam in Fort Lauderdale. His works generally consist of spray paint, acrylic, ink, enamel, textiles and found objects. CHNK’s vibrant murals and commissioned artworks can be found throughout South Florida and online.
