What’s CBD for Dogs?

If you’ve experienced the tremendous benefits of CBD for yourself, you might be wondering if your pet family member can benefit as well. The good news is that CBD oil, when given at the correct dose, can help your dog’s health and well-being.

It’s no surprise that there is an expanding number of pet-friendly CBD alternatives as the demand for CBD products grows. Of course, your pet’s specific requirements take preeminence when making these products. While traditional treatments like capsules and tinctures are available, CBD dog treats are by far the most fantastic option!

Kalmbach Media Co 2021 considers CBD the best realistic option to support your fur’s friend’s health for years to come. CBD and other cannabinoids interact with the nerve receptors of vertebral animals, including humans and dogs, when eaten.

Dogs, like people, suffer from anxiety, pain, inflammation, hunger disorders, and sleep problems. As a result, CBD treats may be able to provide the same health-promoting effects as people can.s

How to Administer CBD to Your Dogs

You might have considered using CBD for your dog but aren’t sure how to administer it to him? Unfortunately, because it’s an oil rather than a tablet, chewable, or pill, you can’t just wrap it in cheese and feed it to your dog. Fortunately, administering CBD oil to your dog is less complicated than you would think. The top four ways to provide CBD oil to a dog are listed below.

  1. Treats

According to LA-Weekly, treats are the most fun and effective way to get your dog to take natural medicine for his health. So yes, you can easily give CBD oil to your pet as a regular treat. Because treats encourage good behaviour, your dog is an excellent method to identify CBD with something positive. They also contribute to the strengthening of your bond with your dog. The majority of dog treats come in the form of cookies and biscuits.

Because of their dry nature, they are good options for absorbing cannabidiol oil. You must place the needed drops on the treat to administer CBD to your dog in the form of treats. Allow for absorption to take place for a few minutes.

Many dog owners who want to provide their canine companions with CBD benefits for dogs give them CBD in dog treats. Porous dog treats absorb the CBD oil better than flat or spherical dog treats; thus, this is the ideal option. Once you’ve determined the proper CBD dosage, apply it to the dog treat and allow it to soak in. To make the operation more straightforward, you can use a dropper.

You may also buy CBD-infused pet treats baked into the goodies. The advantage of doing so is that you won’t have to spend time determining the proper CBD dosage yourself! This way of administering CBD will be our main focus in this article.

  1. Combine it with a sweet substance

Because adding enough CBD oil to the top of a treat can be challenging, mixing it with something nice like peanut butter (as long as it doesn’t contain xylitol, a sweetener that is poisonous to dogs) may be a better option. Then, simply combine the proper quantity of CBD with the pleasant material and feed it to your dog as you normally would, whether from a spoon or encased in a treat to keep them occupied.

  1. Combine it with their meals

This method works best with wet food, and you may need to start small and gradually increase the dose to give your dog time to adjust to the new flavour. Pour the oil into your dog’s food, stir it in, and let it sit for a few minutes before giving them as usual.

  1. Direct Oral Application

You can also directly apply CBD oil to your dog’s mouth or use a dropper to deliver the CBD into your pet’s mouth. Stick with this strategy if your dog tolerates it. Just remember to be gentle with your dog and avoid gagging or over squeezing their mouth. Also, as a reward for good behaviour, offer your furry friend a treat right after!

Substances in CBD treats

There are many ways you can prepare your CBD to treat your dogs. As a result, you will be sure of what your dog is taking in. The recipe is easy, making it more beneficial for your dog. So, you can make CBD dog treats from the following

  • 1 cup apple sauce
  • 1 Peanut butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup Baking soda
  • 1 Cup of coconut oil
  • Full Spectrum CBD Oil Extract

Guidelines to Follow If You Want to Prepare Dog Treats

  1. Make sure you use all-natural ingredients with no artificial flavour or chemicals.
  2. Always avoid xylotin as it is hazardous for your dog’s health
  3. Turn your oven on and put it on 360 degrees Fahrenheit
  4. Mix the peanut butter, coconut oil, and apple sauce thoroughly
  5. After mixing, add the baking powder and flour as you stir constantly
  6. Mix all the ingredients apart from CBD until you get a dough-like substance
  7. At this point, you can either make small balls with your dough and make them cookies or use a cookie cutter to cut it into shape.
  8. Put the cookies in the oven for 15 minutes and check to avoid burning
  9. After 15 minutes, remove it and let it cool. Then, you can add your CBD (you can put a drop or two besting your vet’s prescription) on each cookie and let it absorb before giving your dog.

Are CBD Treats Better Than CBD Oil

Yes, this is because of the lovely way you administer them and the quick way it works. Dog treats are an excellent method to give your pet hemp medication without making them feel like they’re getting a supplement. Simply helpful hints, and you’ll be fine. And it would help if you used our calculator to determine a broad dosage range appropriate for your pet.

Remember that because treats are one size fits all by default, your dosage will be approximate. It’s perfectly acceptable if you give them more than they require. You may notice some exhaustion and a speedier depletion of your pocketbook, but that’s about it. And finally. Many professionals suggest that though it’s a matter of preference. But If you have trouble measuring and administering liquid CBD, treats may be a more accessible alternative.

Benefits Of CBD Treats for Your Dogs

CBD is beneficial in treating epilepsy, anxiety, irritable bowel disease (IBD), and chronic pain in humans. However, just a few trustworthy research on the effects of CBD in dogs is available.

In a 2018 study, researchers looked into the safety, anti-inflammatory, and anti-pain characteristics of CBD oil in dogs with osteoarthritis. The researchers gave the dogs doses of 2 or 8 milligrams (mg) per kilogram (kg) of body weight.

According to two veterinary resources, the canine brief pain inventory and the Hudson activity scale, eighty per cent of the dogs improved their pain and mobility. It’s worth noting, though, that this study was funded by a CBD manufacturer so that you could skew the results.

However, in both the CBD and placebo groups, an equal number of dogs responded to therapy and showed a decrease in seizure activity. Therefore, before drawing any firm conclusions, kindly go through more tests.

How Much CBD Should I Give My Dog?

Following Dmagazine.com, The most remarkable advice we can provide you is to start small and gradually work your way up to the manufacturer’s dose recommendations for their unique items. Companies that make their high-quality CBD products usually provide precise instructions on how to use their goods. However, not everyone does, so knowing how to determine ideal CBD levels can be helpful.

Here is how to calculate a safe and effective dosage for your pet if you’re using CBD oil for medicinal purposes, such as treating arthritis pain or easing seizures. To begin, determine how many milligrams (mg) of CBD your dog should receive based on his weight. A good rule of thumb is 0.2 milligrams of CBD per pound of body weight. For example, you’ll feed your dog 5mg of CBD if he weighs 25 pounds.

Then, based on how many milligrams (mg) of CBD are in each milliliter (ml) of oil, you must calculate how much oil you should give your dog. The strength of the formula you’re employing determines this. So, for a 25-pound pet who requires 5mg of CBD, you would administer 2ml of the 75mg formula, 1ml of the 150mg formula, and 0.5ml of the 300mg formula. Due to the difficulties of giving 0.25ml with the oral syringe most businesses supply, we do not advocate using the 600mg formula on small pets.

Side Effects of CBD Dog Treats

CBD has a few adverse effects, much like any other prescription or natural substance. Although there are some adverse effects, they are minor and infrequent. Vomiting, nausea, lethargy or sleepiness, loss of balance, and excessive panting are adverse effects.

If your pet is exhibiting any of these symptoms, you should contact your veterinarian to schedule an appointment. These symptoms usually appear after a pet has been given too much CBD and has developed toxicity.

Dry Mouth – CBD has been demonstrated in studies to reduce your dog’s saliva output. If you notice your dog drinking a lot of water while on CBD, you should consult your veterinarian.

Low Blood Pressure – High dosages of CBD might induce a temporary reduction in blood pressure. Keep in mind that if your dog’s blood pressure drops, they may become light-headed.

Sleepiness – Most dog owners give CBD to their pets to help them cope with anxiety. Because CBD has calming effects, it can occasionally cause mild drowsiness, especially in higher doses.

CBD Legality

CBD research being in its early stage, has not been entirely accepted. Because both the chemical and the cultivation of the plants from which it comes have long been illegal in the United States, CBD research is still in its infancy.

And, despite all the cookies for sale, CBD appears to be unlawful unless approved by the FDA. As part of the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, hemp farming was made legal countrywide in December. However, the FDA issued a statement clarifying the agency’s position on CBD’s legality:

In summary, the FDA does not distinguish between CBD produced from cannabis and CBD derived from hemp and considered both to be prohibited for the time being—especially as a potentially dangerous food ingredient. Although CBD isn’t harmful to healthy people, it might influence how the body metabolizes certain medications, leading to overdosing in some situations.

Sales Laws and Regulations

In most states, selling dog treats necessitates the acquisition of a business license. In addition, some states restrict online dog treat sales, and no single organization may grant you blanket permission to sell in all states. Sales at your local farmers’ market are also subject to a set of regulations, which vary by state, so check your state legislation for the most up-to-date information.

However, CBD extracted from industrial hemp plants containing less than 0.3 per cent THC is permitted in the United States under the Agricultural Act of 2018, also known as the Farm Bill. It would be best if you verified with your state because they may have their limits.

Finally, the FDA requires that pet food sold in the U.S. be “pure and wholesome, contain no harmful or deleterious substances, and be truthfully labelled.”

Do You Need Your Veterinarian’s Permission?

Yes, this is because your vet knows about your pet’s previous health issues. Doing so will make them understand the best way to administer and the correct quantity too. In addition, many well-meaning folks might advise you when it comes to your dogs’ health. People like strangers, neighbors, friends, or family members offer treats to your dog without your permission. They might be sincere and pleasant individuals, and we’re all aware of the destination of the path paved with good intentions.

But what could go wrong? To begin with, you have no idea what kind of treat they’re offering. Is this a high-quality treat or one of those foreign chicken jerky treats connected to Fanconi Syndrome and kidney failure in dogs? Does the individual who feeds treats to another person’s dog without asking permission realize that some dog treats are traceable to illness and death? So, to be on the safer side, ignore people’s advice and ask for your vet’s permission first.

Conclusion

Whether your dog is suffering from symptoms or you are searching for a supplement to maintain good health. The CBD treats and tips listed above are excellent choices. It might be challenging to choose a reliable product, but we hope we have assisted you in making a more educated decision.

The Academic × Not Your Summer

Irish purveyors of hook-heavy indie-rock scorchers, The Academic share the video for their new single, “Not Your Summer.” The track is lifted from the band’s new Community Spirit EP which was released on July 16 via Capitol Records.

The video was directed by Hope Kemp and Ronan Corrigan from Tearjerker Films, who have worked with The Academic on previous singles “Kids (Don’t End Up Like Me),” “Acting My Age” and “Anything Could Happen.” It was shot at the derelict Waterworld in Portrush, Northern Ireland.

Just last week, The Academic joined forces with BBDO New York and Open The Portalanimation studio for a pioneering live animation event using the medium of Google Slides. The video was aired in real-time to 300 lucky Academic fans across three separate art performances.

The video featured the input and knowledge of a team of animators and the band themselves, collaborating behind the scenes to create new slides every second. Loosely on the song’s lyrics, the animation spoke of the isolation experienced throughout 2020, and the internal conflicts none of us could have predicted. Fans who weren’t able to join the livestream were redirected to YouTube to view the video and band’s interaction live. A link to the Google Slides video will be shared on YouTube imminently.

Five Reasons to Switch to Plant-Based Cleaning Products

Therapy Clean is helping people clean up their home and health

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, women spend around 29 minutes per day on interior cleaning of the home, and another 13 minutes per day cleaning up the kitchen after meals. When you add up how much time they are spending per week, month, and year, it’s clear to see how important the cleaning products they are using becomes. Plenty of research has shed light on the idea that some ingredients found in household cleaning products can be harmful to one’s health. Making the switch to plant-based cleaning products can go a long way toward helping to combat this issue.

“We are committed to helping people have access to cleaning products that will help them do the job, but not at the cost of their health,” explains Anne Ruozzi, co-founder of Therapy Clean, a company offering a line of plant-based specialty cleaning products made in the USA. “We take comfort in knowing that we are providing people with a safer way to clean.”

Therapy Clean is on a mission to revolutionize the industry and get people to make the switch to plant-based home cleaning products. There are numerous reasons to make the switch, including:

  1. Lung health. According to the American Lung Association, some cleaning products release dangerous chemicals. These can contribute to chronic respiratory problems, including allergic reactions and headaches, and they are being studied for their connection to asthma and other respiratory illnesses.
  2. Microbiome integrity. Our gut microbiome is made up of the microbes and bacteria that live in our intestinal tract. If they become unbalanced, referred to as dysbiosis, then it can lead a wide range of health issues, including obesity, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and metabolic syndrome. The chemicals in household cleaners can have an impact on the health of everyone in the home, including infants. Research that was published in the journal CMAJ found that antibacterial cleaning products can change the environmental microbiome and raise the risk of a child later becoming overweight.
  3. Skin health. The National Eczema Society advises that household cleaners can irritate the skin and can cause a condition called contact dermatitis, which is a form of eczema. Using plant-based cleaners can help protect your skin from dangerous chemicals found in many other types of cleaning products.
  4. Irritation control. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the chemicals found in many cleaning products can irritate the skin, eyes, nose, and throat. Switching to plant-based cleaning products helps to reduce the risks of irritation.
  5. Out of love. Knowing that there are harmful chemicals that can be found in mainstream cleaning products, it’s a good idea for people to make the switch out of love. By making the switch to safer products, they will be protecting their families, as well as their own health.

“By switching to safer, plant-based cleaning products, you will be doing a world of good for you and your family,” added James Dudra, co-founder of Therapy Clean, who has chemistry knowledge. “Everyone wants a clean home, but they don’t want to sacrifice their health over time to have it. We help you have the clean home and be healthier while you do it.”

Therapy Clean offers a line of plant-based specialty cleaners that are safe for the whole family. The products are all made in the USA, third-party certified, cruelty-free, private label, and bio-based. The growing family company is minority and women owned. The products are all made from safer ingredients and are high-performing and authentic. The product line includes options for wood and cabinets, tub and tile, stainless steel, granite and stone, and glass cooktop.

They can be purchased online at Amazon.com and the Therapy Clean website, as well as other retailers’ sites. Their products can also be found in over 50 independent specialty stores nationwide. To get more information, visit the site HERE.

About Therapy Clean

Therapy Clean was founded in 2017 by a married couple, Anne Ruozzi and James Dudra. She was frustrated at not being able to find a stainless-steel cleaner that she wanted to use following a home remodeling project. She asked her husband, who has chemistry knowledge, for insight on how to make one herself, and the rest is history. The line of plant-based specialty surface cleaners has been rapidly increasing in sales online and in retail stores. To get more information, visit the site HERE.

JUNE3RD – JEMENI

JUNE3RD UNLEASHES EAGERLY AWAITED DEBUT ALBUM JEMENI

ALBUM FEATURING RICK ROSS AND FRIDAYY

‘JEMENI’ AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE TODAY HERE

JEMENI came together originally from my name being June3rd and everyone assuming that it’s my birthday and that I’m an actual Gemini. Then from there, JEMENI became much more than a title. It became a character and symbolic of a different side/personality of me. We all have those different sides to us. Throughout the album, you’ll hear a roller coaster of different emotions and mindsets that change throughout me being young and figuring out life and what I want out of it,” June shares.

June3rd’s music is a collection of luxuriously smooth, suave, and spirited pop rhythms. The Florida-born, Los Angeles-based rapper explores the world around him through his unfiltered rhymes, dexterous harmonies, and haunting hooks. His timbre makes for flawless vocals that don’t require autotune. Never off pitch or out of range, June3rd delivers powerful performances with perfect pitch. The R&B virtuoso shows off his passionate pipes in every track, never letting his vocals falter from maintaining the perfect mid-tempo. Today, he releases his eagerly anticipated album, JEMENI.

One of the young musician’s most recent, highly-anticipated releases, “Ruff Ryder” was produced in collaboration with Fridayy. The hazy combination of genre-bending soundscapes shows off June3rd’s ability to fluidly deliver complex bars with prodigal proficiency. “Ruff Ryder” reflects the intricacy of navigating relationships, making for a release that is especially resonant with many of the R&B artist’s fans.

Possessing elements from the “sad rap” genre, which has massively grown in popularity lately, June3rd’s tracks intertwine an innovative intermeshing of R&B and lo-fi. While some of his mellifluous melodies sound like sad rap from afar, his lyrical content does not reflect the nihilism inherent to the genre. While June3rd’s songs may be short, every punchy track packs in major power.

June3rd’s music stands out with his well-rounded, concise releases that are sure to be remembered for long to come. Each track is short and sweet, but certainly not understated or rushed. June3rd never disturbs his music with an unnecessary bridge, pre-chorus or auto-tuned adjustments–his music simply stands as an authentic reflection of his craft and musical artistry.

From a technical understanding of music, June3rd’s releases are simple and easy to understand operatically. However, the complexity of this artist’s dynamic vocal range and intricate vocals encourages fans to play June3rd on repeat. His poignant beats, combined with his striking vocals, produces melodious masterpieces. If you’re seeking music to relax your spirits, elevate your atmosphere or add to your newest Spotify playlist, you need to check out June3rd. The rapper’s infectious hits such as “1942”, “Wait 4 It”, and “POV” are sure to be your favorite new summer anthems!

The 17-track mixtape which includes his breakout single “Scandalous” is heavily influenced by Wallie’s California roots and sonically redefines the legendary west coast sound. “Bompton 2 Balabasas” Acoustic Street performance here.

From start to finish, Wallie takes his listeners on a journey through his hometown of Compton where he speaks on his struggle to survive the cutthroat streets while always in pursuit of money, success and all the sweet things life has to offer. Make no mistake, Golden Child isn’t a story of tragedy, but a story of triumph, hustle and ultimately defeating a system designed for Wallie to fail.

Golden Child comes on the heels of Wallie’s “03 Flow” single which currently has over half a million views and over 1.5 million US streams. A true labor of love, 03 Flow pays homage to Watts native and fellow recording artist 03 Greedo who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence. 03 Flow has quickly become a fan favorite, taking on a life on its own with radio support, consistent increase in streams and critical praises from music peers like PnB Rock, industry heavyweights, radio DJs & more. On the record Wallie passionately sings “niggas playing like they demons, they don’t really mean it, choppa spray like we cleanin, bodies dropping on that cement” Wallie’s passion is intently felt on the song and has become the heart of the Golden Child project.

Golden Child also includes Wallie’s team-up with Detroit powerhouse 42 Dugg on the enthralling remix of Wallie’s own hit single “Scandalous.” The two trade bars with ease and confidence, as Wallie offers up some of his most lucid lines, recounting the struggles of success and the haters who would come for his head. Additional stand out tracks include “Lamb,” the lush throwback finds Wallie effortlessly singing over a buttery beat, showcasing his one-of-a-kind flow and knack for incisive lyrics about his come-up. “B*tch, nobody had it in my fam, I put my foot down,” he sings. “Put my other foot down like I could drive this car, let the motherf***kin hood down.” In Lamb, Wallie walks recollects his life’s trajectory beginning with his time on the streets, his narratives are poetic and detailed, rivaling rap’s most vivid writers.

Since the release of Wallie the Sensei’s No Love EP at the beginning of 2020, he’s quickly become a West Coast artist to watch. Respect magazine praised the “Scandalous” video for showcasing Compton’s “camaraderie, hustle, and rawness,” while Rosecrans Ave highlighted Wallie’s storytelling abilities, saying he is “providing guidance to those who come after” with his pain-stricken tales. After the hit of the “Scandalous” remix, Wallie the Sensei’s proved that his skyrocketing success is no fluke. Golden Child is poised to reach even more open-minded listeners. It’s full of anthems for hustling Cali natives and anyone who craves a little bit of glow-up magic.

LA Art Show

The LA Art Show returns July 29th – August 1st. They’re not unaware that they aren’t considered the “cool kids” in the landscape of art fairs in LA, but they are the oldest (26 years) and frankly, the most popular with 60k visitors per year. Obviously this will be a different year but with their new director, Kassandra Voyagis and a primarily female team we have made a hard focus on what’s now.

The future is now.

Vellum LA, the first physical gallery for NFT-backed digital art in Los Angeles opens on Melrose Ave in September, and is presenting a world first major art fair NFT exhibition at the LA Art Show.

Titled Sea Change, the exhibit was created with top NFT marketplace SuperRare (also an official partner of the fair, their first), and curated by Nxt Museum curator Jesse Damiani with Vellum LA curator Sinziana Velicescu. It will also be the first public appearance of a brand new technology for displaying digital artworks in the real world, built by award-winning StandardVision.

Importantly, this first-of-its-kind show features only women and non-binary artists.

Each NFT at Vellum LA’s inaugural Sea Change Exhibition will be showcased on Luma Canvas displays, developed by Vellum LA’s technology partner Standard Vision to be the first ever collector digital art displays. Luma Canvas offers a museum-grade LED display ideal for digital art and NFTs, available in a variety of sizes for different viewing environments and artwork types. The Luma Canvas software allows owners to automatically upload their NFT collection directly onto Luma Canvas displays, which boast vivid, three dimensional qualities optimal for presenting digital works in a physical way.

LA Art Show will be one of the first major art fairs to hold live NFTs on the floor.

DIVERSEartLA

Curator Marisa Caichiolo returns with a focus on the presence, contributions, research and documentation of women and non-binary artists at the forefront of work at the intersection of art, science and technology represented by guests Museums and Institutions.

Museum La Neomudejar from Madrid is bringing DATA | ergo sum RELOADED by artist Ana Marcos, an interactive art installation that visualizes the capability of viewing machines using artificial intelligence to extract data by a simple observation of visitors.

Art Museum of the Americas (AMA) has joined with a special project curated by Fabian Goncálves, that will feature a compilation of material and an exhibition of the work of women artists who have played a central role in the development of new media practices throughout history and women and non-binary people whose forward-thinking practices are currently reshaping the field.

UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center is bringing a special project curated by Chon Noriega titled Immersive Distancing by LA-based artists Carmen Argote and Zeynep Abes, which will examine recent media art produced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now Art LA and Building Bridges Art Exchange have joined forces as local non-profit organizations to exhibit the work Agua by Luciana Abait, a video projection created as part of LUMINEX Project by Now Art LA. This work is inspired by the flood-myth motif that occurs in many cultures, in which water acts a healing and rebirth tool, often referencing ideas of creation, purification, and sustaining life. The projected FLOOD will run down the main aisle of the LA Art Show.

The most unconventional and anticipated contribution to the section is Tiffany Trenda, a multidisciplinary performance artist, known for exploring the relationship of the female body to today’s ever-changing technologies.

Galleries

While we won’t have as many international galleries, we have managed to bring together a fantastic roster of galleries that celebrate the experimental vibe that is LA.

2021 brings legendary LA galleries: Track-16 (first fair) and Coagula Curatorial. Plus 14 year-old wonder kid and LA native, Tex Hammond exhibits at his first fair under Acosta Arts.

Returning: Arcadia Contemporary, Caldwell Snyder Gallery, Simard Bilodeau Contemporary, and Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery from London for the lineup of Modern + Contemporary.

The show will once again have an international presence with the Pigment Gallery returning from Spain, In The Gallery returning from Denmark, Gallery KITAI from Japan, and exploring new territory, the Spaceless Gallery based in Paris and operating through a circuit of innovative pop-up locations all over the world, looks beyond the walls of a traditional white cube space to provide an ever-changing experience for both our artists and audience. The gallery’s nomadic nature ties in with its decentralized art programs that aim to establish fresh dialogues between the exhibition venue, the works and the viewer integrating all art forms, including music and performance art.

Ebhoni album art for use by 360 Magazine

EBHONI – GOOD DICK & WEED

EBHONI REPS FOR ALL THE TORONTO BAD GYALS ON NEW PROJECT “GOOD DICK & WEED”

A refreshing departure from the current landscape of R&B, 21-year-old singer/songwriter Ebhoni keeps it realer than real on her latest mixtape “Good Dick & Weed.” The 10-track project includes a collaboration with Jamaican rap star Beam in addition to Ebhoni’s breakout single “Rep It” & her confident ode to women with options,  “Rotation,” produced by industry heavyweight FORTHENIGHT (Bad Bunny, Don Toliver). Born & raised in Toronto, Good Dick & Weed is heavily influenced by Ebhoni’s Caribbean upbringing and is full of bold & honest convictions, a fierce body of work that is sure to redefine what it means to be a woman fully in charge and uninhibited.

Good Dick & Weed in many ways channels a keen sense of the best parts of what some would define as nostalgia: the era of mixtapes and tumblr, telling a story through visceral imagery and honest anecdotes, the internet in its rawer early form. Good Dick & Weed paints snapshots of different cities in the same harshly ephemeral gleam, from Westwood to Wilshire, specific places made universal by the heartbreak and hopefulness within them.

On opening track “If You Know You Know”, Ebhoni speaks directly to a night where gunfire punctured six bullet holes in the backseat window of her family’s car, and they had to temporarily relocate to her grandmother’s house, where she openly wonders: what if she had been sitting in that backseat?  Putting up walls for her own self-protection, she’s only now beginning to draw from the power that comes from her own vulnerability. “I really have been through so much, and it’s important to show that to help others who might not have that platform.” Good Dick & Weed draws from this agency, a declaration of assured frankness that shows the choices you make don’t have to be perfect as long as you believe in them.

Good Dick & Weed is a product of nighttime, connecting the dots and piecing together information from strings of late-night texts, voice notes from the calls you choose not to pick up, as well as poignant diary vignettes curled up in the sink from the washroom of the Atlanta apartment she currently resides. where the low-key 21-year-old feels her most authentic self. It’s also a matter-of-fact acknowledgement of growing up on Weston Road in Toronto where her father sold drugs, waking up to ringing doorbells early in the morning, seeing notes left on her mother’s car and playing outside of housing complexes while her father was inside doing deals.

Praised for her powerhouse talent, Office Magazine predicts Ebhoni “is on a fast track to worldwide recognition.” Earlier this year, Ebhoni released her EP “X,” to critical reception from press and rare groove enthusiasts. In addition to Pitchfork praising Ebhoni for “reclaiming the Toronto R&B crown for women.” HotNewHipHop wrote, “Ebhoni has been one artist to keep an eye out for in the 6ix,” it’s no wonder FLAUNT crowned her “Our favorite new R&B artist.” Tracks like “Rotation” only bolster the rep she’s built as one of R&B’s most magnetic young stars, and with the release of Good Dick & Weed, Ebhoni’s growing fandom will surely only continue to expand.

Mirah Lehr’s Residency at Flying Horse

Flying Horse Editions Selects Mira Lehr For 2021 Visiting Artist Residency Program

Lehr’s New Editions of Original Works Created in Residency will Debut During Art Basel Miami Beach 2021 at INK Miami

Nationally Acclaimed Studio Invites World’s Leading Artists to Push Boundaries with Cutting-Edge Technology
Flying Horse Editions, the nationally acclaimed printmaking studio that invites some of the world’s leading artists for its Visiting Artist Residency Program, has chosen Mira Lehr for their select roster of artists for 2021. The studio is celebrated for cutting-edge technology and inspiring artists to push the boundaries of printmaking, in a kinetic setting among its team of master printmakers. In her new series, Lehr, now at the bold age of 86, is experimenting with explosives, fuses, plexiglass, watercolor, and inks ‒ exploring new ways to use nontraditional materials in the art of printmaking. Mira Lehr is a force of nature to be reckoned with, said Theo Lotz, the Director of Flying Horse Editions. She is a fearless explorer. Lehr’s body of work spans all media, not bound by one process. Her artistic energy and spirit are boundless. We knew that her bold approach to artmaking would lead to a great collaboration. Lehr thrives in our studio, which relishes the unexpected. Lehr’s new work created at this residency will debut during Miami Art Week/Art Basel Miami Beach 2021, at the INK Satellite Fair (December 1-5 at the Dorchester Hotel).
This fair is produced by the International Fine Print Dealers Association, and is recognized worldwide as one of the leading presentations of works on paper by internationally renowned artists. Lehr’s new limited editions will then tour nationwide with Flying Horse throughout 2022 at several art fairs across the U.S. and internationally. Her new work will also be presented at an opening reception at the studio, featuring live demonstrations of her process of igniting gunpowder and fuses to create her artworks. Flying Horse Editions was established in 1990 at the University of Central Florida. The artists invited to participate in the residency has included: Diana Al-Hadid, Elia Alba, Chakaia Booker, Will Cotton, Ke Francis, Luis Gispert, Eddie Martinez, Odili Donald Odita, and Toyin Ojih Odutola.
Lehr completed the first part of her studio residency in the spring, and will return to Flying Horse later this year to complete her new editions there. Every artwork in Lehr’s new editions will each be an original work of art that was created exclusively during the residency. They were each imagined with these trailblazing printmaking techniques in mind, and are each one of a kind. So far, Lehr has created a series of monotypes with watercolor prints created on plexiglass. She has also created a new lithograph with collage pieces that will be burned and ignited using the artist’s signature technique with fuses and gunpowder, for a new varied edition.
My experience at Flying Horse Editions has been a powerful new adventure in artmaking for me. I am honored to have been invited to their artist residency this year, said Mira Lehr. Their passionate commitment to the craft of printmaking is evident, they really put their hearts into the visiting artist’s experience . I was able to experiment with great freedom ‒ they encourage the artists to take risks, while remaining true to your voice.
This research space houses professional visiting artists for short term residencies with assistance from master printmakers and students. The artists’ drawings are scanned, manipulated digitally, and then put on a copper plate similar to what would have been used during Rembrandt’s time. Lehr’s nature-based imagery includes painting, design, sculpture and video installation. Her processes include innovative usage of resin, gunpowder, fire, Japanese paper, dyes and welded steel. Her paradoxically destructive yet creative fire techniques burn holes and leave imprints in her prints resulting in an even more layered and complicated final artwork. The resident artists invited to Flying Horse Editions have the benefit of working with a massive 300-ton hydraulic press that is dramatically colored red. This behemoth machine produces complex relief prints that expand the creative possibilities of what artists may have previously envisioned. Unlike traditional presses, this hydraulic press applies an immense amount of pressure, downward onto the printed area, yielding much more precise images, with several blocks in multiple colors. Because the printer requires such fine tuning, Siemens donated a sophisticated electronic system that tricks out the controls enabling unparalleled precision. Watch the high-tech colossus in action here.
The Visiting Artist Residency Program at Flying Horse Editions is made possible by the members of the institution, a grant from the Winifred Johnson Clive Foundation, and with funding by the Judith and David Albertson Endowment in the Arts. The goal of the program is to create a world-class initiative that promotes creative interaction between professional artists and students, while also creating sustainability within the printmaking field ‒ training the next generation of artists and printmakers.
Flying Horse Editions is a collaborative research center in the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Central Florida, and a non-profit publisher of limited-edition prints, artist books, and art objects by internationally renowned artists.

About the Artist
Mira Lehr’s solo and group exhibitions number more than 300. She is a graduate of Vassar College (1956) with a degree in Art History, under the mentorship of Linda Nochlin, the renowned feminist art historian. Lehr will be the subject of a new, 420-page international monograph by the leading art book publisher Skira Editore, to be published in the spring of 2022. She has been invited to present a solo exhibition at the Deering Estate in the fall of 2021.
Lehr has been collected by major institutions across the U.S., including the Smithsonian Museum of American Art (Washington), the Getty Museum Research Center (Los Angeles), the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Perez Art Museum Miami, the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center (NY), the Margulies Collection, the Mennello Museum of American Art, MOCA North Miami, the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU, and the Orlando Museum of Art. Her work is in the private collections of Elie and Marion Wiesel, Jane and Morley Safer, and Judy Pfaff, among others. She is included in the Leonard Lauder Corporate Collection in New York. Thirty of her paintings were commissioned for the collection of Mount Sinai Hospital. Her work can be seen in American Embassies around the world and is permanently on view in the Sloan Kettering Memorial Center.
Lehr’s 2020 solo museum show at the Mennello Museum of American Art was selected by The New York Times as one of the leading museum exhibitions nationwide in the U.S. in the 2020 special Museums Section. Her solo museum exhibition headlined Art Basel Miami Beach 2019 at the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU, and also received national and international critical acclaim. Her museum-wide exhibition at the MOCA North Miami spanned across 10,000 square feet of installations. She has currently been chosen by Flying Horse Editions as an invited artist for the Visiting Artist residency.
Mira Lehr’s nature-based work encompasses painting, sculpture, and video. She uses nontraditional media such as gunpowder, fire, fuses, Japanese paper, dyes, and welded steel. Lehr is known for igniting and exploding fuses to create lines of fire across her paintings. Critics are calling Lehr the Godmother of Miami’s art scene because in 1960 she created one of the nation’s first co-ops for women artists. At the age of 86 and with a career that spans more than six decades of artmaking, Lehr is creating more new work now than at any other point in her life ─ with a heightened sense of urgency about the planet and climate change. In the 1950s, Lehr studied and worked in New York as an artist, where she met some of America’s most prominent masters including: Joan Mitchell, Lee Krasner, and Helen Frankenthaler. She studied with James Brooks, Ludwig Sander, Robert Motherwell, and within the Hans Hofmann circle.
When Lehr moved back to Florida in 1960, she was shocked at the lack of an art scene, especially for women. She convinced many of the masters from New York to visit and lead workshops for her league of women artists. This helped the evolution of art in Florida. She was selected in 1969 by Buckminster Fuller, as one of only two artists, to participate in his World Game Project about sustainability and his groundbreaking Spaceship Earth concept which preceded the world’s very first Earth Day in 1970. Lehr’s video installation, V1 V3, was on view at the New Museum, NY. Her work has been included in numerous art fairs during Art Basel Miami Beach. She was the recipient of the Vizcaya Museum Lost Spaces Commission, where she was commissioned to create a site-specific installation for Vizcaya Museum and Gardens as part of the Museum’s centennial celebrations.
