Inspired by events both political and personal, [the album] traces the emotional fallout from life-altering events, from shock to despair to hope. – WBUR

Dispatch laid out the blueprint for roots rock domination for other bands to follow. – High Times

Chadwick Stokes and Brad Corrigan have never abided by standard norms. It’s one of the many reasons why they have gained a dedicated following in Boston and beyond. – Dig Boston

Celebrated roots rock band Dispatch are excited to announce a series of intimate acoustic dates this fall. Dubbed An Acoustic Night with Dispatch, founding members Chadwick Stokes and Brad Corrigan will be joined by longtime bandmates and collaborators Matt Embree, John JR Reilly and Mike Sawitzke + special guest Emelise on all dates. The excursion will kick off in Poughkeepsie, NY on September 25 and weave its way throughout the US until November, making stops in New Haven, Charlottesville, Cincinnati, Boulder, Aspen, Solana Beach and more (full routing below). Presale starts Monday, June 7 with code: BREAKOURFALL. Please visit their website for ticket notifications and more information. Local CDC requirements will be followed. The band recently released their highly anticipated 8th studio album, Break Our Fall, on Bomber Records/AWAL Recordings. PRESS HERE to listen!

The songs on Break Our Fall speak not only to Chadwick Stokes’ and Brad Corrigan’s personal evolution, but to human nature itself, charting a course from denial and resistance to growth and acceptance through deep introspection and empathetic character studies. For Stokes and Corrigan, the only constant these past few years has been change: marriage, birth, death, departure. Add to that an exceedingly tense political climate, long-overdue reckonings on racial justice/gender equality, and a runaway global pandemic, and you’ve got Break Our Fall, an album that enriches Dispatch’s distinguished legacy, on which the depth and breadth of the band’s stunning songwriting is displayed in full force. The music is pure Dispatch, blending infectious roots rock with hints of reggae, folk, and blues. The production is similarly lean and energetic, leaving plenty of space for some of the group’s most pointed, political lyrics to date. Working with frequent collaborators Mike Sawitzke (Eels) and John Dragonetti (The Submarines) to craft a wide-ranging collection of cathartic songs, the result is a timely and essential album from a band still breaking new ground two-and-a-half decades into its storied career, an ode to resilience and survival that manages to find hope and joy on even the darkest of days.

Making sense of our often-incomprehensible world has been at the core of Dispatch’s mission since the very start, when Chadwick Stokes and Brad Corrigan were still just students at Middlebury College in Vermont. Over the course of a slew of acclaimed studio and live albums and countless tours and festivals, the band would go on to become one of biggest success stories in independent music history, selling out three nights at Madison Square Garden and drawing over 100,000 fans to a massive outdoor show in their adopted hometown of Boston without any traditional radio or major label support. Rolling Stone called the group roots-rock heroes, while Billboard praised their seamless harmonies, ragged edges and breezy attitude, and SPIN hailed the band’s remarkable renaissance. Throughout their rise, Stokes and Corrigan took every opportunity to use their success for good, launching charitable organizations to fight poverty and mass incarceration, raising funds and awareness for environmental causes on the road, and even traveling as far afield as Nicaragua and Zimbabwe to work with children and communities in need.

Vans x Spongebob Squarepants x Sandy Liang Collection

Vans, SpongeBob SquarePants and Sandy Liang have teamed up for an iconic limited-edition release set to launch June 4th on the Greenhouse App

For Fall 2021, Vans tapped New York fashion designer Sandy Liang to get her to take on the world’s most famous sea sponge: his infectious happiness, and the values of friendship, humor, positivity, and “Off the Wall” attitude the show shares with Vans.

Born and based in New York City’s Lower East Side, Sandy initially attended the Rhode Island School of Design to study architecture but transferred to the Parsons School of Design after discovering her passion for clothing design. Prior to starting her eponymous label, which is deeply rooted in New York influence and style, Sandy interned or worked for several high-profile brands, including Opening Ceremony, Phillip Lim, and Jason Wu.

Taking influence from grandma fashion, sport fem, nostalgia, and humor—as well as her background in architectural design, Sandy is a favorite among Downtown New York girls like model Soo Joo Park, stylist Kate Foley, and blogger Hanneli Mustaparta.

Sandy brings her unique aesthetic to two SpongeBob-inspired Sk8-Hi 38 DX colorways. Patchwork features a blue, purple, and teal beach-inspired patchwork design on the quarters, with black toe, tongue and heel cap, and a black side stripe. A second iteration of the Sk8-Hi 38 DX boasts an all-over pastel green and blue gradient, overlaid with pale pink tropical flowers inspired by another Sandy, Sandy Cheeks, the adventure-seeking squirrel.

In apparel, Sandy gives beloved SpongeBob characters a makeover, dressing them in her own clothing designs for their runway debut on her boyfriend fit tee, fleece hoodie, and twill bucket hat.

Olympic Swimmer Ryan Lochte Sets New Personal Records with X1-PRO Device

Despite his age and setbacks due to the pandemic, 12-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte is setting new personal records as he prepares to solidify his legacy in the water at Summer Olympics in Tokyo this year.

To gain a competitive edge, Lochte teamed up with David McCagg, a 7-time gold medalist and former world record holding swimmer, who was working on a revolutionary training device for swimmers. McCagg developed the world’s first resistance trainer that travels the entire pool length with the swimmer. It is called the X1-PRO by GMX7, and Lochte, who holds the current world records in the short and long course individual medley, began training with it in 2019.

“The gains I have been seeing by using the X1-PRO are absolutely unbelievable,” said Lochte. “It’s undoubtedly helping me achieve the best times in my career, which at my age, are rather unprecedented.

The X1-PRO is a small, 6-inch-long, resistance training device that weighs less than 4 pounds and clips into the end-point connections for a pool’s lane lines. It can then be connected to the swimmer via a leash and travels on a line back and forth up to 50 meters in length at the adjustable resistance the swimmer desires.

“The versatility and functionality of the X1-PRO has proven to be the difference maker,” said Lochte. “It really has helped our entire team prepare for the global stage in Tokyo.”

Lochte, who is now married and a proud father of two, has been training near their home in Gainesville. This is where he met McCagg in 2018 and where the X1-PRO was originally tested.

“Ryan approached me, asked what it was and offered to give it a try,” said McCagg, co-founder of GMX7. “Since then, we can’t keep him away from it. Between his work ethic, and mental fortitude, it’s really no surprise that Ryan is the second-most decorated swimmer in Olympic history. There is no doubt in my mind that he’s going to do something special at trials and in the games this summer.”

Lochte isn’t the only Olympian training on the X1-PRO. Currently, more than 75 anticipated Olympians from 15 countries across the world are training on the X1-PRO in hopes of qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics with more to come.

The X1-PRO is assembled in the USA by GMX7, and has quickly become a necessity for all levels of competitive swim, especially those collegiate swimmers working so hard to get to the very top of their sport.

Development of the X1-PRO began in 2018, and it was tested extensively at the University of Florida prior to becoming available to the general public earlier last year.

About GMX7

Founded in 2018, GMX7 is based in St. Petersburg, Florida and is dedicated to changing the world of swimming by empowering competitive swimmers with the best aquatic resistance training devices ever created. GMX7 was founded by David McCagg, a 7-time gold medalist, former world record holder and winner of multiple national championships. The first device on the market by GMX7 is the X1-PRO.

Designed by ROBRADY Engineering, the X1-PRO has already been the recipient of five international awards including the 2020 International Design Excellence Award, 2020 Red Dot Award, the 2020 Good Design Award, IDA Design Award and most recently the MUSE Design award in 2021.

On many occasions, relationships are put to the test by the intervention of third parties, and this is what the new Nicky Jam’s song “Miami” is all about. A very common life story in which a man is tempted to betray his partner with another girl who represents something new, different, and forbidden.

The song has A-class producers such as Dj Luian, Mambo Kingz, and Neneto, under the wings of the record label La Industria INC/Sony Music Latin.

Miami premiers with its official music video, an unprecedented audio-visual production. The video is full of emotion and bright colors, under the lens of the master of urban genre music videos, Jessy Terrero.

“I think that all my fans are going to love this song. It’s all about real-life experiences. Those that can really connect you with the audience, because, unfortunately, heartbreaks are more common than happy endings,” said Nicky Jam.

The videoclip was produced by Cinema Giants INC, and as expected, it was recorded in the city of Miami, Florida. Filmmaker Jessy Terrero did not miss the opportunity to show off the best landscapes in the city, including luxurious balconies overlooking the ocean and bold Miami-style streets where nightlife is the real protagonist.

In April, Bauer threw 51 strikeouts and made a $51,000 donation to Think Together to help fund its afterschool STEM and robotics programming for middle school students in southeast Los Angeles. In May, Bauer threw 45 strikeouts and made a $45,000 donation to the Just Keep Livin Foundation to help fund its afterschool fitness and wellness programming at Ánimo Inglewood Charter High School in Inglewood and Manual Arts High School in South Los Angeles.

The organization creates learning environments that engage every student, foster joy, and promote fearlessness in problem solving while also providing teachers with the support and tools they need to lead exceptional computer science learning experiences.

Specifically, Bauer’s donation will help fund 9 Dots’ computer science education for elementary school students in Compton Unified and Los Angeles Unified school districts.

In addition to monetary support, Bauer is highlighting all Ks for a Cause organizations through a dedicated content series on his YouTube Channel and with limited-edition Ks for a Cause merchandise on his website. All proceeds from merchandise sales will benefit that month’s designated beneficiary organization.

Bauer is fully funding Ks for a Cause through grants via the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF). He has also partnered with LADF to evaluate potential partner organizations and to work with receiving organizations.

Goose recently released the third song from their eagerly awaited new album, SHENANIGANS NITE CLUB out tomorrow, Friday, June 4The 10-minute odyssey the band is calling “Madhuvan” is a live show staple of late that the band shortened for the studio version. Though half as long here, the song still captures the travelogue aesthetic that has made it a fan favorite. Classically Goose in that its groove is as deep as its sense of melody is indelible, “Madhuvan” references the story of Dhruva and his quest for enlightenment, originally written in the Bhagavata Purana. The song is an exploratory journey, examining life’s most beautiful offerings and most dangerous pitfalls.

“The underlying idea is questioning what you’re pursuing and that, ultimately, true fulfillment often comes from something other than outer acquisition,” says guitarist/vocalist Rick Mitarotonda.

SHENANIGANS NITE CLUB is Goose’s second studio LP and first full-length collection in more than five years. It was heralded in March with the release of its first song, “Spirit of the Dark Horse.” In April, the band released “So Ready.” Hitting that sweet spot where rock met disco in the late 70s, the slinky funk pocket groove of “So Ready,” made indelible by its catchy wide lapel melody lines and liquified guitars, is available now at all DSPs and streaming services. An animated official music video that harkens back to the feverish Saturday nights of the dancing days of yesteryear is available for streaming via Goose’s YouTube channel.

SHENANIGANS NITE CLUB follows the recent release of Goose’s remarkable cover of Vampire Weekend’s “2021 (January 5th, to be exact),” featured on Vampire Weekend’s new 40:42 EP and available now at all DSPs and streaming services. Personally commissioned by Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig  a longtime Goose fan with the only directive to make it twenty minutes and twenty-one seconds long, the expansive track is accompanied by a full-length performance video, streaming now via YouTube. Relix magazine just published an interview between the band and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig. Read it HERE.

WATCH GOOSE x VAMPIRE WEEKEND’S “2021 (JANUARY 5TH, TO BE EXACT)”

Hailed by Billboard for their “penchant for innovation and creativity during the pandemic,” Goose debuted some of the new SHENANIGANS NITE CLUB songs during a series of socially distant live dates beginning May 3 and 4 at Frederick, MD’s Showtime At The Drive-In and then hitting North Charleston, SC’s Riverfront Park (May 6) and Pelham, TN’s The Caverns Above Ground Amphitheater (May 8 and 9). All five dates completely sold out after unprecedented demand; limited tickets remain for shows at Silver Lake Drive in Perry, NY (June 15 and 16) and Legend Valley in Thornville, OH (June 18 and 19). For updates and complete details, please visit goosetheband.com/tour.

An ode to oft-forgotten vestiges of Goose’s musical journey, both personal and collective, SHENANIGANS NITE CLUB marks the apex of a rich history between friends of differing ages and experiences from the same small town in Connecticut, drawn together through a deep love of music and storytelling. Songs like the tectonic “Labyrinth” and the ruminative deep-dive, “SOS,” fluidly traverse genres with head-spinning hooks, technical fireworks, and the kind of rare chemistry only possible among truly close collaborators.

“While we’ve been touring, the record has been happening in the background,” says Mitarotonda. “It’s been quite the process. At times, it was difficult. The record is a companion to those growing pains.”

Goose made their remarkable debut with 2016’s Moon Cabin and quickly took flight, playing countless shows while steadily amassing a fervent nationwide following. Years of relentless touring culminated in a string of milestone festival performances during the summer of 2019, highlighted by a now-legendary performance at Scranton, PA’s annual Peach Fest (streaming in its entirety HERE). Further touring followed, including a completely sold-out fall headline run and hastily scheduled dates at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom and Music Hall of Williamsburg in January 2020, both of which proved instant sell-outs.

2019 and 2020 also saw Goose return to the studio for a series of extraordinary single releases, collected on last year’s NIGHT LIGHTS EP (available HERE). The tracks mastered by the first-ever female GRAMMY Award winner for “Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical,” Emily Lazar (Sia, Clairo, Haim) exhibit a fully unified live outfit eager to showcase and develop their studio voice.

Due in part to their trademark inclination for improvisation, Goose was able to creatively navigate the myriad challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. A succession of intimate virtual performances culminated with the unprecedented “Bingo Tour,” a two-week live streaming event featuring four unique concerts with setlists determined by the outcome of a live Bingo game. Held at a bucolic private property in Fairfield County, CT, the interactive performances were captured for posterity in the full-length concert film, Bingo Tour, joined by an exclusive 55-minute behind-the-scenes documentary and available to rent or download HERE.

Fall 2020 saw a welcome return to live performance with a slew of sold-out drive-in shows across the Northeast, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic regions. Propelled by seemingly unstoppable momentum, Goose wrapped up the year with their seventh annual Goosemas holiday benefit concert, streamed live from a rooftop in New York City’s Rockefeller Center to over 50K fans exclusively via Twitch’s new RelixChannel. The epic 3-hour performance which raised over $45,000 for NIVA’s Save Our Stages and Conscious Alliance  can be viewed now at the official Goose YouTube channel HERE; a full-length audio recording is available via Bandcamp HERE.

“Our dream is to inspire people to step off the beaten path,” says Mitarotonda. “There are a lot of voices that tell you to play it safe. I think the coolest thing in the world is when someone breaks free and goes for whatever weird shit they dream of doing.”

Goose is Rick Mitarotonda (vocals, guitar), Peter Anspach (vocals, keys, guitar), Trevor Weekz (bass), Ben Atkind (drums), and Jeff Arevalo (vocals, percussion, drums).

7 Ways to Stay Positive When You Have a Difficult Health Condition

When you’re living with a chronic illness, a setback or interruption can be incredibly frustrating. It can be hard to focus on the good when you have a flare-up, you’re too tired to do your daily activities, or you feel like you’re back to square one. You’re allowed to feel frustrated, but it’s essential that you get right back on that horse and keep staying positive with these tips.

1. Count Your Blessings

When you have a difficult to manage health condition, it can be hard to see the positives. However, people with chronic illnesses are more able to cherish the small things in life, are typically more motivated to achieve their goals, and are more understanding people. Plus, people with chronic illnesses tend to make better friends that really care about your well-being.

2. You’re a Superhero, If You Really Think About It

Whether you have a chronic illness with prominent flare-ups or you have an embarrassing health condition that causes excessive sweating, you’re managing your illness despite it. For example, people with hyperhidrosis are still looking out for the best deodorants for excessive sweating, and Fibromyalgia patients are still staying active despite their pain. Your resilience is admirable.

While you may not feel like a superhero at your worst, most people could handle what you’re going through at your best. You’re strong, so give yourself some credit for your hard work!

3. Remember: You’re Not Failing

Sometimes an unexpected flare-up of your complex health condition will cause you to take a step back, cancel plans, or take time off school. It can be challenging to take a break while you’re trying to reach your goals, and you may become self-critical when you have to. However, setbacks do not equal failure. You’re human, and sometimes humans just need to survive the day.

4. Find Something The Makes you Happy

It’s important to find something you enjoy that can keep you busy while you wait out the flare-up. Sometimes, there isn’t anything you can do at this moment, but waiting around for the difficult time to stop won’t make it any easier. So instead, start up that hobby that you always wanted to try, but couldn’t, or put your frustration and anger into music, exercising, or creating art.

If you’re in pain or your illness prevents you from doing the thing you love, try something else. This blog post that centers on helping people with chronic illnesses find hobbies can help.

5. Do Something Small for a Loved One or Stranger

When we feel down, it can help to give to someone that needs our help to put our own pain into perspective. That doesn’t mean you should go to a volunteer shelter and compare yourself to someone else because that won’t make you feel any better. However, simply helping a person who needs you can help you feel more positive and give you the strength to tackle tomorrow.

6. Break Down Tasks Into Manageable Steps

After a setback, you may start to get overwhelmed by tasks that now feel out of your grasp, even if they were perfectly manageable in the past. Don’t beat yourself up for this change because you can adjust how you tackle these tasks. While you’re recovering, you don’t have to keep the same busy pace as you used to, but that doesn’t always mean you can’t do anything.

Break your to-do list down into smaller steps and take frequent breaks to maintain your pace. It’s a lot easier to cross off “wash the dishes, wipe the counters” than “clean the house.”

7. Know That the Best is Yet to Come

When managing a chronic illness, it can be hard to see what’s on the other side of a flare-up, but just like the last time this happened, you were able to recover. Even if you didn’t recover fully, you still were able to make your situation more manageable. Keep on believing you can conquer your worst moments because you can, and you will. After this, better moments await you.

WonderWorks Panama x Good Vibrations

WonderWorks Panama City Beach has an array of exhibits that help educate people about science. The newest exhibit on earthquakes, called Good Vibrations, opens June 11, 2021. Good Vibrations will spotlight Tuckaleechee Caverns, and how they document seismic activity around the world. The new exhibit was a topic request from educators, so it seemed appropriate that they also name the exhibit.

“We are happy to offer this new exhibit about earthquakes, which was a request by teachers,” said Michael Walsingham, general manager of WonderWorks Panama City Beach. “People will have a great opportunity to learn about seismic activity, along with where and how it’s measured.”

The Tuckaleechee Caverns are home to the most sensitive seismic station on Earth. It detects any and all tectonic movement anywhere in the world. If a country is testing a nuclear weapon or there is an earthquake, it has that information within seconds. Once it does, within 300 of a millisecond, it relays that important information directly to the U.S. Military; Vienna, Austria and Geneva, Switzerland. The information is collected 24/7 and is crucial to national security, as well as being able to provide earthquake information.

The exhibit, Good Vibrations will help share the importance of the Tuckaleechee Caverns and what they are doing in monitoring seismic activity. The information in the exhibit meets the educational standards on earthquake and seismic activity, and is one of WonderWorks’ many STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) related learning exhibits. The exhibit name was suggested by teachers.

“This is going to be a great summer, with families taking the time to include learning activities along with having fun,” added Walsingham. “At WonderWorks, we are where learning and fun come together, with the whole family enjoying their time here.”

WonderWorks Panama City Beach offers many STEM-related exhibits and activities all year long. There are also demonstrations, activities, virtual learning labs, science fair partnerships, homeschool days, and more. The interactive indoor amusement park offers STEM-focused activities for all ages. There are over 100 hands-on activities that are focused on the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. Some of the exhibits will include a bubble room, Professor Wonder’s adventure, interactive sandbox, illusion art gallery, and xtreme 360 bikes.
