Katlyn Nichol – Liar

BLACK-ISH STAR KATLYN NICHOL REVEALS MUSIC VIDEO FOR LIAR, WATCH HERE, LISTEN HERE

Asserting herself as a dynamic presence beyond standout turns on television shows such as American Soul and Black-ish, North Carolina-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, actress, and performer Katlyn Nichol unveils the sultry music video for her debut single Liar today via CMNTY Culture RCRDS/Republic Records.

Watch Liar HERE

Listen to Liar HERE

The video, which premiered on Refinery29 today, spotlights her undeniable charisma and show-stopping star power. She commands the camera’s attention with impressive dance moves and palpable energy. The visual moves in sync seamlessly with the song’s genre-defiant upbeat bounce.

Liar arrived to instant critical acclaim. SoulBounce urged us to get used to hearing her name, and Rated R&B fittingly described it as breezy.

Liar not only introduces Katlyn as a dynamic all-around entertainer, but it also hints at much more to come.

For as much as Katlyn Nichol flourishes in front of the camera as an actress, she really thrives the moment she picks up a microphone. The North Carolina-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, actress, and performer can hit steeple-size vocal peaks, get sassy on a beat, and dazzle with charisma and charm all within the span of the same song. At the age of two, Katlyn would sing from her car seat, belting out gospel runs along with the radio. Soon, she found herself recording backup vocals and melodies for her dad’s recordings and decided to devote her life to music at that young age. Relocating to New Jersey, she gained her first industry experience by working with various management companies in between attending the prestigious Cicely L. Tyson Community School of Performing and Fine Arts. By 12-years-old, Mary J. Blige personally signed her to Matriarch/Def Jam Records. The legend often invited Katlyn to make guest appearances on stage. All of these moves contributed to her evolution as an artist and all-around entertainer. She nailed an audition for BET’S American Soul and captivated millions as Simone Clark, acting, singing, and dancing for the run of the show. In 2020, she joined the cast of Black-ish as Olivia Lockhart and will be returning for the upcoming final season. However, she never stopped writing, recording, and singing. During early 2021, she caught the attention of CMNTY Culture RCRDS and Republic Records and landed a deal with the label.

NauticEd Reports Bookings + Enrollments Soaring from Joel Staley for use by 360 Magazine

NAUTICED REPORTS BOOKINGS + ENROLLMENTS SOARING

As consumer travel surges ahead on a tide of pent-up demand, NauticEd—the leader in global sailing education and a global yacht charter agency—has reported an increase in vacation yacht bookings almost 10 times greater than 2020 and 38% greater than pre-COVID years. It is also seeing a 30% increase in online course enrollments over 2020 figures.

“During the pandemic, most travelers cautiously sheltered in place to avoid COVID-19,” said Grant Headifen, NauticEd founder and global director of education.  “As travelers re-emerge, many new customers are telling us that being stuck at home inspired them to try something they’ve fantasized for years: escaping on a luxury sailboat with their family and learning how to sail. In fact, 43% of our new students surveyed said their desire was to skipper a yacht on a sailing vacation or adventure.”

NauticEd’s dramatic 38% increase in its vacation yacht bookings over pre-COVID years mirrors the overall increase in U.S. travel bookings of the past two months. Consumers, emboldened by recent CDC data that shows nearly 50% of the U.S. population has received one vaccination shot or more, are primed for adventure.

According to a survey conducted by Destination Analysts, as of Memorial Day the number of Americans concerned about contracting the coronavirus, the pandemic’s impact on personal finances, as well as the national economy hit historic lows. The percentage of those sharing the perception of travel and leisure activities as unsafe was cut in half compared to the beginning of the year. It prompted U.S. consumers to dream about travel again, and, based on NauticEd’s spike in inquiries and resulting business, it appears many dreamed about sailing.

“As a travel and outdoor recreational activity, sailing is on fire right now and the demand is the strongest we’ve seen in a decade,” said Headifen. “We are thrilled to report a fresh surge of novice sailors and newcomers are embracing the lifestyle, while the sailing faithful are enthusiastically returning to inquire about yacht charters again.”

An international leader in sailing education, NauticEd has provided over 250,000 courses, including a mix of both virtual and live instruction, since its founding in 2008. Besides the uptick in vacation yacht bookings, NauticEd’s 30% increase in online educational course enrollments not only demonstrates a growing demand for boating and sailing education, but a new trend in how people choose to learn.

“Our strategic mix of comprehensive e-learning platforms with on-the-water instruction help students take their sailing to the next level in the most efficient and effective manner possible,” said Headifen. “We have beginners wanting to become a competent crew member, intermediate sailors looking to sharpen their skills and advanced sailors wanting to circumnavigate the globe. Our online curriculum allows them to get underway immediately in their own personalized learning process before syncing with a NauticEd accredited sailing school.”

NauticEd is the first sailing educator to receive official American National Standards recognition. Its e-learning approach allows students to gain knowledge and learn sailing theory online via multimedia instructional modules that are totally customized to meet their needs, all within the comfort of their home and from their preferred device. When NauticEd students show up at an accredited school for their on-the-water training, they already have learned the language and theory of sailing. It enables them to maximize one-on-one time with a qualified instructor while exclusively focusing on practical skills. The result for students is greater sailing competency.

A key benefit of NauticEd’s business model is its two-prong approach to the sailing experience, allowing its customers to learn, travel, charter and take vacations. Not only does it offer global yacht charter services and more than 24 comprehensive online courses, but its integrated course documentation and sailing resume provides charter companies with exactly what they need to validate a student’s actual skill level and experience.

“In my experience, boat charter companies want to see more than just a sailing school certificate,” said Headifen. “They want to rent to sailors who have demonstrable experience with similar size boats, who know how to navigate, operate and safely return their vessels back to the harbor.”

Inspired by this knowledge and insight, Headifen founded NauticEd 13 years ago with the mission to create safer, more competent sailors. He collaborated with scores of leading sailing educators, e-learning technologists, forward-thinking sailing schools and a select group of top international instructors to build NauticEd’s comprehensive curriculum.

As part of its global outreach program, NauticEd offers two free online instructional courses. For information, click HERE or HERE.

About NauticEd:

NauticEd features over 24 online sailing courses, certification for sailors at all levels, feature-rich proprietary learning management systems and a global network of sailing school and charter affiliates. Since Grant Headifen founded NauticEd in 2008, it has provided over a quarter million sailing courses to students worldwide and currently supports over 80,000 boating enthusiasts with courses, experience building tools and charter vacations. NauticEd is the only sailing education program recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators as having met the rigorous American National Standards, and NauticEd’s SLC licensing is accepted by charter companies worldwide. Through an impressive social media influence and an in-house production team, A THREAT creates viral trends and moments that empower female trendsetters across pop-culture, music, fashion and business. Known for her trademark ‘hip-hop-in-heels’ choreography, Samantha impacts hundreds of millions of fans worldwide through features in motion picture, television, music, strategic brand partnerships and innumerable viral videos—most recently including her signature intertwining of martial arts and dance.

“Coming up, there has always been a mentality towards dance that there is a ceiling to this career—just being in the background instead of being the star. We’re smashing that ceiling with this festival,” said Long. “I am immensely proud to be leading this effort with such an incredible team. With my company A THREAT co-producing this competition with GKUA, trust that dancing is the star. We’re doing this one for all of the dancers out there who have been waiting for an opportunity like this. We’re creating the life-changing spotlight for dance that I wish I had for myself years ago.”

LIL BUCK is a movement artist who began jookin at age 13. Named one of Dance Magazine’s 25 to Watch, he gained international notoriety after an impromptu piece with Yo-Yo Ma went viral. Since then, he has collaborated with artists including JR, Damian Woetzel, the New York City Ballet, Madonna, Benjamin Millepied and Spike Lee; along with brands including Glenfiddich, Louis Vuitton and Versace.

“I’m very excited to judge the UPROAR DANCE COMPETITION and to see the fresh new talent out there,” said Lil Buck. “This will be an awesome experience for dancers at a monumental event to showcase what they love to do—with the chance to win $5K in prize money while they’re having fun! I know we are going to see some spectacular dancers giving it their all.”

JON BOOGZ is a movement artist, choreographer and director who pushes the evolution of dance—sharing his art form with audiences of all backgrounds while inspiring and bringing awareness to social issues. Collaborators and clients include Mikhail Baryshnikov, Naomi Campbell and the Tribeca Film Festival.

“I’m super pumped to be a judge at this year’s UPROAR DANCE COMPETITION. It’s a blessing that Lil Wayne and his team are giving dancers an opportunity to shine and have their talents be displayed on a big platform,” said Boogz. “I think the viewers of this dance battle are in store for something beautiful. With $5K on the line, the dancers are going all out.”

“Since the inception of the GKUA brand, Lil Wayne and our whole GKUA team have been preparing to launch GKUA Inspired competitions. This event at The Torch will bring the attention of the world to the inspired artists who will participate,” said GKUA President Beau Golob. “The UPROAR DANCE COMPETITION is just one facet of the immersive experience we are bringing to our live and streaming audiences. I am extremely proud of what we are creating with UPROAR! This festival at The Torch at the LA Memorial Coliseum will be an amazing event you will not want to miss.”

Mayday Parade via Guadalupe Bustos for BMG for use by 360 Magazine

Mayday Parade – Kids of Summer

The powerhouse emo quintet Mayday Parade released their brand-new single, “Kids of Summer,” via Rise Records. Watch the music video HERE.

The anthemic single is a nostalgic ode to the band’s carefree summers on the Vans Warped Tour, with a stadium-sized, hands-in-the-air chorus that fans have come to expect from Mayday Parade. Just in time for the season, the accompanying music video, directed by Guadalupe Bustos, evokes the same joyful, summer feeling.

“‘Kids Of Summer’ is about one of the greatest moments in our band’s career which was touring numerous times on the Vans Warped Tour,” drummer Jake Bundrick shares about the new song. “Not only has that summer tour helped our band find an identity over the years, but it’s also helped us find our own selves in ways. We also know fans of ours and of the tour itself feel the same way, so we wanted to capture all of that in a summer anthem.”

About Mayday Parade

Since their formation, Mayday Parade have sold over 1.6 million albums in the U.S. inclusive of 675 million streams across their catalog, earning their spot as a household name in the industry. With a certified Gold album and countless global tours under their belt, the band shows no signs of slowing down as their fan base continues to grow. Recently, their debut album A Lesson In Romantics has found new life on TikTok, with fans using the original tracks in their content as well as creating their own cover versions, some amassing millions of views.

The new music arrives on the heels of the band’s recent fall headline tour announcement. Mayday Parade will make their triumphant return to the stage beginning September 8 with a two-week run featuring support from Microwave. In addition to the headline dates, Mayday Parade will appear at numerous festivals this year including Riot Fest (Chicago, IL), Four Chord Music Fest (Pittsburgh, PA), Furnace Festival (Birmingham, AL), Nova Rock Festival (Austria), Greenfield Festival (Switzerland), Hurricane Festival (Germany), and Southside Festival (Germany), with more to come on the horizon.

2020 marked a stark departure for the Tallahassee, FL band, who typically play several festivals and hundreds of shows across North America and internationally each year. After spending most of the year apart, the band, Derek Sanders, Brooks Betts, Alex Garcia, Jake Bundrick, and Jeremy Lenzo, got together for two special virtual show events, starting with the Out of Here Session in October, followed by the Anywhere But Here Session which highlighted a front-to-back performance of their 2009 sophomore LP Anywhere But Here.

Since its debut last week, the song has garnered five star reviews from places like NME and Pitchfork, has trended #1 worldwide across social media, raked in over 30 million streams in its first five days, and was #1 on Spotify’s Global and US Song Debut.  The song is the first single from Lorde’s forthcoming third studio album which will be released via Universal Music New Zealand on August 20th. The album includes 12 tracks and is produced by Jack Antonoff who she collaborated with on her chart-topping last album, Melodrama.

Of the album Lorde says, The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learned to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through.

Of the single she adds, The first song, also called SOLAR POWER and written and produced by myself and Jack, is the first of the rays. It’s about that infectious, flirtatious summer energy that takes hold of us all, come June…

To honor the natural world the artist is presenting the album in a first-of-its kind, discless format. An eco-conscious Music Box will be available for purchase as an alternative to a CD. This innovative offering will contain extra visual content, handwritten notes, exclusive photos, and a download card. The card will give purchasers a high-quality download of the music, two exclusive bonus tracks, and access to some special surprises along the way.

When talking about the concept Lorde says, I decided early on in the process of making this album that I also wanted to create an environmentally kind, forward-thinking alternative to the CD. I wanted this Music Box product to be similar in size, shape and price to a CD, to live alongside it in a retail environment, but be something which stands apart and that’s committed to the evolving nature of a modern album.

ABOUT LORDE

In 2013, a 16-year-old Lorde quietly, yet confidently asserted herself as the voice of a generation with her full-length debut, Pure Heroine. The album would go triple-platinum, win two GRAMMY® Awards, and spawn the certified Diamond, record-breaking, international juggernaut single, Royals, and quadruple-platinum follow up Team. The former cemented Lorde as the youngest solo artist and the only New Zealander to achieve #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since 1987. Time exalted her amongst the Most Influential Teenagers in the World, she landed on Forbes’s 30 Under 30 List, graced the cover of Rolling Stone and performed alongside Nirvana during the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. She also curated the official soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and recorded Yellow Flicker Beat as the lead single. In 2017 Lorde released her second full-length studio album, Melodrama which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Chart, making her the first ever NZ artist to land a #1 debut album in the United States. The album reached #1 in over 45 countries and earned Lorde a nomination for Album of the Year at the 2018 GRAMMY® Awards. Lorde makes her highly anticipated return with critically acclaimed new single, Solar Power, from her third full-length studio album, Solar Power, due out August 20th. Lorde currently has over 12 million albums sold worldwide and over 10 billion streams worldwide.

Brittany Howard – Jaime Reimagined

Jaime, the first solo album from Brittany Howard, has been reimagined by an astonishing cross-section of the five-time GRAMMY winner’s peers. Featuring fresh takes and remixes of the album’s 11 songs, Jaime Reimagined will be released by ATO Records in digital format on July 23 with the vinyl edition to follow on September 24.

The Songs

Howard shared the shimmering single “Presence” Little Dragon Remix along with the b-side, “Tomorrow” BadBadNotGood Remix.

She noted, “Making Jaime was so much fun for me because I was able to explore so many different genres of music. There were no rules. This reimagination project has been no different. I have been honored to have so many incredible artists from all musical worlds interpret my songs in such interesting and different ways.”

Little Dragon said, “Working with Brittany’s voice felt really inspiring, because it radiates emotions and energy.” BadBadNotGood explained, “We’ve been fans of Brittany Howard’s work from a distance for years but haven’t had the chance until now to connect. She has an absolutely incredible voice and her songwriting style is really unique. The original of ‘Tomorrow’ had such a special, floating sound that it was difficult to find a direction to go in for the remix. We tried to give the amazing vocals a new context and build around that. We were honored to have the opportunity and hope everyone enjoys it!”

Howard will headline the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on September 18. She will also be performing at numerous festivals, including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands and Life Is Beautiful, and will be touring with My Morning Jacket. Tickets are available HERE. See below for itinerary.

Fans who pre-order the digital edition of Jaime Reimagined will instantly receive the Little Dragon and BadBadNotGood remixes plus Bon Iver’s remix of “Short and Sweet,” EARTHGANG’s remix of “Goat Head,” Michael Kiwanuka’s version of “13th Century Metal” and “Stay High again” with Fred Again and Joy Anonymous.

Childish Gambino also offers up an interpretation of “Stay High.” The 9th Wonder remix of “He Loves Me” features Common while Gitty’s remix of “Baby” features Syd. Other artists who contributed to Jaime Reimagined include Emily King, Laura Mvula, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Jungle.

About Brittany Howard

As the frontwoman and guitarist for Alabama Shakes, Brittany Howard became one of music’s most celebrated figures, the band won four GRAMMYs (out of its nine nominations) and she has performed everywhere from the Obama White House to the main stage at Lollapalooza, where she sang with Paul McCartney at his invitation. But for her solo debut, Howard boldly decided to explore new directions, with diverse instrumentation and arrangements and intimate, revelatory lyrics. Howard titled the album after her sister, who taught her to play the piano and write poetry, and who died of cancer when they were still teenagers.

About Jaime

Jaime was awarded four stars by Rolling Stone, MOJO and Q, named the Best Album of 2019 by NPR and nominated for a GRAMMY Award in the Best Alternative Music Album category. Praising Jaime as “a candid autobiography in funk,” The New York Times said, “With a voice that can go to the roadhouse, the church or deeply private places, she exorcises troubles with the music’s sheer pleasure.”

“Stay High” won a GRAMMY for Best Rock Song after spending three weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Songs chart. It was Public Radio’s Most Popular Song of 2019 and named by Pitchfork and others as one of the year’s best songs. “History Repeats,” “Goat Head” and “Short And Sweet” received GRAMMY nominations in the rock, R&B and American roots categories respectively.

Pitchfork said, “Jaime is a daring turn in just about every way.” Rolling Stone hailed it as “Brittany’s searing manifesto, her tour-de-force solo debut.” Entertainment Weekly praised Jaime as a “genre-bending solo record that is both intensely personal and achingly universal.”
