3 Important Reasons Why You MUST Invest In Motocross Boots

In the world of motocross, thrills are the name of the game. It’s the reason why people take up the sport at all. But alongside the high flying stunts, awesome speeds, thrilling turns and twists and all the fancy tricks comes a part of the motocross sport that is not at all pleasant, but remains simply unavoidable.

What are we referring to? Spills. Thrills and spills–that’s motocross.

That’s where motocross boots come into play. You may think that they’re only meant to protect feet (which is true), but that’s just not true.

There are other reasons why you must have high-quality motocross boots in your arsenal.

They Enhance The Look

You probably have a ton of images in your head of people posing with their bikes, fully clad in their extreme gear–including their boots. They look so cool, don’t they? They should, since gear nowadays is specially designed not only to be functional, but stylish as well.

If you are looking for a pair of dirt bike boots, be sure to find one that matches your bike’s design, as well as whatever other gear you may be wearing.

They Offer Great Protection

When you’re racing along rough dirt tracks, leaping off ramps, and slamming on the ground after being thrown several yards or meters into the air, you’re probably going to want all the parts of your body to be safely covered up and padded. Protection will ensure that you’re not in constant fear that the slightest mistake will cost you an arm and a leg—literally!

Also, bikers often use their feet to assist them when making sharp turns.

You’ve probably seen this before: a biker is nearing a turn, and instead of slamming down on the brakes to bring himself to a crawl, he slows down only a little. In this way, he can plant his foot down and use it as a sort of anchor that will allow him to swerve with more maneuverability than would otherwise be possible.

They may make it look easy, but that’s only possible because they are wearing proper protection–namely, a good pair of tough, sturdy dirt bike boots.

Boots will also protect your feet from minor impacts, cuts and abrasions if you have an accident. Because good quality boots are usually made from tough materials like leather, these can withstand a lot more beating than normal human skin can and act as the first line of defense for your feet and lower leg.

They Help Improve Performance

As mentioned above, a good pair of dirt bike boots will allow a rider to make much sharper turns. But, this is not the only way that this kind of gear can enhance one’s performance.

The soles of a good pair of boots are designed to give their wearer maximum traction, to ensure that their feet stay firmly planted on the foot pegs.

Modern boots are made to be as lightweight as possible, as not to hamper movement and balance. Finding a lightweight pair of boots allows you forget about them when having fun and getting your adrenaline rush on the dirt bike track.

For these reasons and many others, dirt bike boots are essential parts of the extreme biker’s gear.

Final Word

Motocross boots aren’t only meant for protecting your feet, though that’s their primary function. You can also customize your boots to suit your bike’s design for aesthetic purposes. With motocross boots, you can focus on the ride more since you will be assured that your feet are safe from the gnarly ground.

We hope you’re convinced why it makes sense to invest in a good pair of motocross boots.

Research Shows Ridesharing Services Reduce Sexual Assault

Contrary to portraits painted in popular media, new research involving ridesharing services shows they provide an additional level of protection for potential sexual assault victims, particularly in neighborhoods with inadequate public transportation or in circumstances that are more prone to sex crimes.

The study, “The Deterrent Effect of Ride-sharing on Sexual Assault and Investigation of Situational Contingencies,” published in the INFORMS journal Information Systems Research, found the entry of Uber into a city in the United States contributes to a 6.3% reduction in rape incidents.

“Even a 1% increase in Uber pickups in a neighborhood translates to a more than 3% decrease in the likelihood of sexual assaults,” said Jiyong Park of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

The study was conducted by Park alongside Min-Seok Pang of Temple University, Junetae Kim of the National Cancer Center Korea and Byungtae Lee of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.

This research investigates the relationship between ridesharing and sexual assault, which has been a controversial, but underexplored topic in public debates on the sharing economy and ridesharing. This study is the first to present systematic empirical evidence that a ridesharing platform can provide a viable means to prevent sexual crimes under certain circumstances.

“Ridesharing can reduce a passenger’s risk of being a target of sexual assault by providing a more reliable and timely transportation option for traveling to a safer place,” said Park. “Moreover, ridesharing contributes to a more significant reduction in the likelihood of rape occurrences in neighborhoods with limited transportation accessibility, such as the city’s outskirts and neighborhoods where a higher percentage of the population is non-Caucasian.”

The study also found that ridesharing is more effective in deterring sexual crime in riskier circumstances, such as around alcohol-serving establishments on weekend nights or when the probability of crime occurrences increases.

“Despite the common misconception due to popular media stories, our work proves that digital platforms can be leveraged to solve societal challenges by matching supply and demand closely for relevant services, which calls for spatiotemporal investigations of granular-level data in designing platform businesses and devising policy instruments,” concluded Park.

Terrel Hines – Who Do You Love?

On his new single “Who Do You Love?” Georgia-born, Los Angeles-based pop visionary Terrell Hines sings of an apocalyptic “war on earth” yet finds transcendence. “So much going on can’t help myself,” he wails in the chorus. “If we’re all going down then what do you desire? I’ll take you higher.” The song joyfully blurs sonic borders, opening with a glittery burst of electronics before giving way to psychedelic soul, tense funk, euphoric blues-rock, and gospel-pop anthemics. Listen HERE.

Saturated in vibrant colors, the animated lyric video that accompanies “Who Do You Love?” introduces a character who’s not afraid to go against the grain, pulling a heavy load backwards. A sign nods to Hines‘ hometown of Dublin, Georgia.

Hines, who has already amassed more than five million streams without releasing an album or touring the U.S., displays a polymathic musicality, honed in part during his studies on scholarship at Berklee College of Music. In 2019, he appeared on the title track to Beck’s Hyperspace album and saw a major boost after his music was used during an Apple Keynote.

In 2020, he released his first tape, Portal One: The Mixtape, a nine-track project that featured the raw energy of live instrumentation. Watching the events of the summer unfold prompted Hines to remix his 2019 track “Get Up,” adding a new verse from Vince Staples. NPR Music observed, “in the context of this summer’s movement, lyrics like. I’ve been waiting my whole life’ along with the driving percussion and the increasing desperation in Hines’s voice, [to] begin to take the shape of shouts for justice in a protest moving down a city block.” In October, he released the electrifying single, “We’re All Gonna Be Killed,” which reflected on “the tension of 2020 so far.”

Hines creates an entire ecosystem for his songs, where sonic structures and lyrics are just as likely to be inspired by the sociopolitical as the personal, by functional architecture as abstract art, by the austere science of survivalism as the limitless potential of technology. The best part is, you don’t have to know all that to feel the holistic magic of his work. We hear immediacy, exuberance, freedom, and ingenuity:  music as surprising as it is captivating, while he sees a burning question: “If shit popped off and society had to be rebuilt,” asks Hines, “how would I do it?”

TEAM SPEEDWAY WINS BIG

Speedway Motors announced today, Team Speedway, won multiple autocross events this past weekend at Goodguys Salt Lake Nationals in Salt Lake City, UT.

Robby Unser doubled up winning both the PRO-X class and the PRO-X portion of the Fuel Curve Great Salt Shootout in the Speedway Motors sponsored ’70 Camaro. Unser is no stranger to racing, hailing from one of America’s most storied racing families. He boasts the 1987 World Hill Climb Champion and 1989 American Indy Car Series Champion titles and was named IRL Rookie of the Year in 1998. He has raced a wide range of classes at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, winning an unprecedented 9 times. Unser has also competed twice at the Indianapolis 500 and has been one of Team Speedways drivers for more than 7 years. Teammate Brian Martin also doubled-up in Salt Lake with wins in the PRO class in a ’86 Corvette.

Returning to its competitive racing roots Speedway Motors began sponsoring Team Speedway in 2014.

“Team Speedway drivers have pushed the ’70 Camaro, ‘67 Camaro and ’65 Nova cars to their limits, slamming through courses with 1.7g lateral loading and intense braking, plus acceleration that only a 750 hp engine can provide,” said Bill Schneider, Speedway Motors R&D Engineer and Team Speedway Manager. “If G-Comp components can handle this type of punishment, you can be sure they’ll be reliable for whatever automotive activity you have planned.”

Team Speedway regularly puts parts to the test and the ’70 Camaro was built with performance in mind. Sporting Speedway Motors G-Comp 1970-81 Camaro/Firebird Torque Arm Rear Suspension Kit Schneider said, “Measurements were taken, scans were made, and models created to figure out how to make a 50-year-old car handle like a new Corvette.” The car was also fitted with an Unser Edition Front Suspension Kit and sports a 427 LS7 on an RHS block and heads built by Speedway Motors Racing Engines.

The C4 ’86 Corvette sports a Tremec conversion kit and shock package from Speedway Motors.

This is the second win for Team Speedway this year. Unser also doubled up at the 11th Fitech Spring Nationals in Scottsdale, Ariz. claiming the PRO-X class shootout victory in Goodguys CPP AutoCross Racing Series.

Team Speedway is scheduled to compete in a number of upcoming events including:
