KELLIN QUINN, RYAN KEY, HOWI SPANGLER AND JAMES DINANNO UNVEIL NEW FAMILY-FRIENDLY ROCK GROUP, THE FIRST ROCK BAND ON MARS
Multi-platinum selling rockers Kellin Quinn (lead vocalist of Sleeping With Sirens), Ryan Key (formerly the lead vocalist of Yellowcard), Howi Spangler(lead vocalist of Ballyhoo!) and James DiNanno (formerly of Silhouette Rising) announced their new kid-friendly, pop-punk band The First Rock Band on Mars, along with news of an accompanying album of the same name, set for release on June 11.
The album will feature music geared toward parents, who would love nothing more than to have alternative options outside of Baby Shark and other classic children’s tunes to bond over with their kids. The idea stemmed from the four musicians, most of them dads, who felt that there was a void in modern day children’s music.
Quinn stated, “I think it’s important for parents and their kids to have a song that they’re both into, one that doesn’t feel punishing to put on in the car or at home and listen to. That’s what we set out to accomplish.”
The concept album was spawned from DiNanno’s 2020 best-selling children’s book The First Rock Star on Mars, which explores an adventurous journey through space, with the first ever music festival performed on planet Mars. In the book, kids are encouraged to follow their dreams, learn about the planets, and think big. DiNanno noted, “When my son Caden was born, I was compelled to create this animated, musical universe that inspires the current generation of children and their parents. It’s been very rewarding creating the book, album and cartoon. I think it’s going to be an equally fun journey for the families exploring it.”
TheFirst Rock Band on Mars album releases June 11 on all digital and streaming platforms. The children’s book The First Rock Star on Mars is available to purchase now via Amazon and an animated mini-series is in the works.
When you walk through Hollywood, you can find 2,690 stars along the sidewalk calling out famous and celebrated singers, songwriters, actors, directors, and anyone who has had a lasting impact on Hollywood. You can also escape the heat and bustle of the city by exploring Madame Tussauds where you are treated to life-size replicas of all your favorite Hollywood Superstars.
Madame Tussauds Hollywood features three floors filled with wax replicas of singers, late night hosts, actors and actresses, and even famous characters from movies like Boris Karloff as The Mummy. You are first greeted with a wax figure of Baywatch Zac Efron in front of the Santa Monica Skyline, a massive King Kong next to the Empire State building, and a game face ready Kobe Bryant. After you purchase your tickets, you are welcomed into the museum and given free rein to tour and visit all three floors. Following COVID-19 guidelines, guests are to start from the third floor and make our way down for one-way traffic to flow better. The first-floor features Hollywood’s newest members and current pop culture icons: Demi Lovato, Jason Derulo, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Jenner, Morgan Freeman, Simon Cowell and more. And not forgetting to mention, the brand-new Ariana Grande wax figure dressed in her Rule The World music video outfit. The figurine is also posed in a pink-themed set from her famous 7 Rings video with a pyramid of champagne glasses behind her. This is a new piece for the museum and not yet updated in all of Madame Tussauds locations, so it is definitely not to be missed!
After your trip down memory lane, you will arrive the last feature in the museum, a Marvel theme wax exhibition, where you can check out a few Marvel cast members figures in full costume: Spiderman, Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), etc. Though it is not compulsory, you can also purchase the 4D Marvel Movie screening for an additional $5 for an immersive experience. The glasses the museum provides will allow you to see the 3D aspect of the film, and be prepared for sound effects, water, bubbles and even ropes to hit your feet. All of these elements make for an out of this world experience, the movie is 10 minutes long. Make sure to put any items you don’t want getting wet away! If you are not a fan of getting wet, I recommend sitting father back. Stop by the gift shop on your way out and grab a cup, key chain, or shirt to remember your visit to Madame Tussauds Hollywood.
In addition to offering a fun and safe day out of the house, you are also able to learn about the process of making a wax figure, see examples of the process, and in pre-Covid times purchase your own wax mold of your hand. It takes about 800 hours to create a wax figure, beginning with the detailed measurement of the model from the circumference of your head to the width of your ankle. Every measurement is specific to ensure the wax figure looks as accurate as possible. After the measurements are taken, workers begin sculpting, painting, designing, making the costumes and finally dressing and staging the wax figures. This is no easy task and while some figures are more life-like and realistic than others, they are all impressive. It really makes you question who in the room was real and who was a wax figure! The detail in every figure is astonishing, from freckles, scars, tattoos, and hair. It feels as if you are really meeting and interacting with these stars rather than standing next to a wax figure.
Come meet your favorite artists and movie characters at Madame Tussauds Hollywood today! To buy tickets for Madame Tussauds, visit the website or buy them in person.
An unprecedented, intimate, deep and evocative company that takes shape from the talent and imagination of directors and screenwriters and translates that into new visions, under the moonlight of the Aragonese Castle of Ischia: there will be six Italian preview films selected in competition in the “Scenari Campani” for the nineteenth edition of the Ischia Film Festival, which will be held in the presence of the public and talent from 26 June to 3 July on the Covid free island.
It reconstructs the extraordinary work carried out in Campania by psychiatrist Sergio Piro, on the long wave of the Basaglia reform, “Al lupo bad”, by Chiara Tarfano and Ilaria Luperini. It is a film in 5 episodes “L’ardore dei timidi”, by Antonio Vladimir Marino, which reflects in a surreal way on the absurdity of existence. Historical suggestions and mystery mix in “Clarus”, by Michele Schiano. “The consequences of the actor – Little Michele Esposito”, by Daniele Chiariello and Pierfrancesco Cantarella, traces the short but significant career of a young man from Amalfi, an actor by chance in several popular Neapolitan films of the 1980s. “Estate Povera”, by Andrea Piretti, documents the commendable activity of Neapolitan volunteers committed to helping the poorest and most needy during the months of the pandemic. It recalls the Ischia of yesteryear, “Fragments”, by Boris Molinaro, in which some characters linked to the territory (the sculptor, the restaurant manager, the seafarer) are committed to preserving the historical memory of the island.
“This section intends to enhance the cinematographic works, whether they are fictional or use the language of the cinema of reality, shot in recognizable territories (not studios or interiors) of the Campania region or that have Campania as their main location”, underlines the artistic director of the Michelangelo Messina festival. “The Campania Region, which for four years has supported the festival under a cinema law that finances the entire audiovisual sector, has identified the cinematographic story as an important means of promoting tourism and cultural heritage. – Messina continues – It therefore seemed right to us, from the first year in which this important support measure was established, to dedicate a significant piece of the festival to those works that are often realized thanks to these financing measures. ”

Preparing For Memorial Day Weekend and The Start of Summer With Party Expert Meredith Staggers
With Memorial Day approaching, it’s finally time to celebrate the unofficial start to summer. From family gatherings and entertaining friends, how are you going to prepare for the long weekend?
Meredith Staggers, founder & owner of Cake & Confetti, shares how she is preparing for MDW get-togethers, along with her affordable home décor picks and best practices on partying inside and outside the home, which includes notable DIY projects and entertaining ideas, to kick off BBQ season in style.
With Memorial Day this weekend, Meredith Staggers has provided some tips below, to create fun and unique looks to spruce up any party.
On Décor
Let’s start with an affordable home décor pick, like an easy tablespace idea. You may be tempted to decorate with traditional flag decor, but I challenge you to think outside the box a little bit! Pattern mixing adds interest to the table and definitely doesn’t have to be complicated.
Stick to a color scheme. I love choosing two or three colors and mixing patterns within those colors. For holidays like Memorial Day and July 4th, use red, white and blue but instead of flags or stripes, I suggest adding some gingham and other fun patterns!
Add in layers. I love the texture the jute placemat adds here and instead of putting the blue plates directly on the placemat, I added a slightly larger white plate between the two. It helps make the patterned plate stand out!
Buy disposable utensils, napkins and inexpensive pieces from places like Home Goods or Tuesday Morning. For summer hosting I like to stick to things I can throw away for easy clean up. I picked up these gingham napkins and gold plastic utensils for a few dollars. Inexpensive items like this allow you to mix and match patterns without committing too much!
For sustainability purposes, I always have reusable cotton napkins and find that cleaning them with Arm & Hammer Odor Blasters after each party gets the job done and leaves them feeling like new!
On Food
You cannot throw a good party without creative food ideas for you guests. Since I have a lot on my plate (literally), I like to simply dress up store-bought sugar cookies, and cupcakes with fruit and sprinkles! This takes the time out of cooking your own baked goods. However, it adds a little something extra than just using the basic store bought ones. By adding fruit and sprinkles to my deserts it gives it more of a personal touch.
Next up is my personal favorite The Dash Popcorn Maker. I suggest making DIY popcorn cones with patriotic paper. It is so fun and easy, and the kids absolutely love it!
Finally, I like to put out personal snack boards. I fill them with sweet and savory snacks that kids and adults go crazy for and it changes up from the normal cheese board.
We’re doing our best to use this time at home to create new traditions- and by celebrating with family and having your kids cook or set up with you is something that helps my family create these precious moments! My daughter Piper loves to help me in the kitchen, so whenever I let her lend a hand she is always thrilled!
After working in the marketing and event planning industry for three years, Meredith decided to launch Cake & Confetti (named after two of her party must-haves) with the support of her amazing second-half, Trent. Since 2013, the business has evolved from party planning to a multi-faceted styling boutique and blog.
PANGAIA SUPPORTS ANTARCTIC PAVILION WITH “COLD FLUX” BY BEN CULLEN WILLIAMS AT THE LONDON DESIGN BIENNALE
PANGAIA is pleased to announce its support of a new workCold Flux at the Antarctic Pavilion by artist Ben Cullen Williams, due to be unveiled at the London Design Biennale. Cold Flux highlights the peril of our ice caps with an almost breathing film of the Larsen-B iceshelf. While Ben Cullen Williams was on an expedition to Antarctica with polar explorer Robert Swan, he filmed the Larsen-B Ice shelf that splintered off from the Antarctic peninsula in 2002 and has been disintegrating since.
Cold Flux is a three-channel AI generated video installation created from this footage. In collaboration with creative technologist Bryce Cronkite-Ratclif, the footage was used to train machine learning algorithms to generate the video landscapes which seemingly exist visually within a state of melting and freezing, forming and un-forming.
The resulting video is strange and uncanny, a familiar yet distant landscape, a prediction or a recording with echoes of the sublime. Cut into this video landscape is AI generated video of the surface of the sun; synthetic and uncertain.
Cold Flux presents to us the new digital materiality that is starting to exist alongside our own, while exploring its relationship to the natural. Accompanying the video is a haunting audio track by musician Gaika. The track is delicate, yet strong, digital but also human. This is paired with slow tracking visuals that show the sides of the icebergs, while the vast blocks of ice also move within the shots themselves.
The imagery moves from the recognizable to the indistinguishable, flowing and morphing within the steady frame. The camera looking at the sun is static, with the sun continually rotating within the frame, something seemingly impossible. The work maps the complex network between technology, environmental change and our understanding of the world.
Cold Flux questions whether the melt of our ice caps is reversible while serving as a stark reminder that action must be taken to halt the decline of our planet.
Cold Flux will be presented at the Antarctic Pavilion during The London Design Biennale from June 1-27 at Somerset House. Tickets can be purchased here.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced an update to their guidelines, sharing that those who are fully vaccinated are at a “low risk” of infection when traveling abroad or domestically. However, the CDC warns that states and territories may continue to enforce their own COVID-19 travel restrictions.
According to a recent Airbnb report, 54% of people have already booked their next trip, are planning to travel, or expect to travel in 2021, signaling the importance of staying healthy & safe flying.
Dr. Elizabeth Mullans shares 5 tips to travel safely:
Wear a face mask. The CDC’s Emergency Order mandates face masks be worn on all public conveyances. While breathable, comfortable, reusable masks are important for virus protection, wearing them for long periods of time may cause skin irritation and acne. This may trigger skin sensitivities, so make sure to wash face masks with a hypoallergenic and fragrance-free laundry detergent like, Arm & Hammer Sensitive Skin, Free & Clear.
Keep the Immune System Strong. Make sure to eat a healthy, balanced diet and get adequate sleep (even if it means snoozing on the plane). Airlines have stepped up cleaning and social distancing measures on planes to maximize air flow volume for all passengers through HEPA filtration systems, however, the low humidity levels inside of an airplane cabin can oftentimes cause onset of a cold. Keep a cold shortening product that contains Zinc on-hand, like Zicam, and take an immune supplement to proactively support overall health while traveling. A great option is vitafusion Triple Immune Power because of its great-tasting gummy form.
Organize important documents. Whether traveling internationally or domestically, always keep vaccination cards, COVID-19 test results, driver’s licenses, hotel confirmation print outs, and passports in a secure place like in a DocSafe Document Bag. For those vaccinated, laminate the vaccination card to avoid water damage.
Use an alcohol-free, long lasting hand sanitizer. Disinfect & Shield Hand Sanitizer is available as a moisture-infused foam or spray that leaves an invisible, “breathable” barrier on the skin. It not only destroys 99.99% of bacteria but is also eco-friendly, making it ultra-safe for use around pets and plants while protecting the treated surface for up to a full eight hours. Unlike most hand sanitizers, Disinfect & Shield is alcohol-free and eliminates the harsh fumes and cracked, dry skin that accompanies alcohol-based sanitizers. Plus, it’s safe for use on PPE and masks.
Adhere to CDC guidelines. Although many are not required to stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7-days after traveling, it is important to follow all state and local recommendations as they can vary state to state.
Remember to be mindful, plan out a trip well in advance, and be aware of the COVID-19 policies and guidelines set by the destination you’re visiting. Remember, a negative COVID-19 test before your trip does not necessarily mean you are in the clear. Symptoms might not show for up to two weeks, so remain cautious.
Joe Collins Discusses Maxine Waters Demanding Qualified Immunity for Police be Banned
What is qualified immunity?
“Qualified immunity balances two important interests—the need to hold public officials accountable when they exercise power irresponsibly and the need to shield officials from harassment, distraction, and liability when they perform their duties reasonably.
Why qualified immunity is important
If qualified immunity is banned, it will be impossible for a police officer to properly do their job, knowing that any sort of error in judgment in a high-pressure situation, could lead to them being prosecuted.
Violent crime in cities like Los Angeles could spiral even more out-of-control if cops are not equipped to do their duties to protect citizens in danger.
Waters has taken radical stances time-and-time again. Her views are not in the best interests of her constituents and are in fact putting people’s lives in danger if these sorts of arguments actually win out.
The Major Point
The fight to destroy the police as a barrier of law and protection for the American people, particularly in crime-ridden areas, has now reached the national stage. If qualified immunity is passed in some sort of anti-police bill, people’s lives will be at risk. Joe can talk about what he has seen in his own community, and why it is so important for law enforcement to be able to do their jobs for everyone’s well-being. Joe comments that “One of the best ways is to start rewriting laws to hold public officials and law enforcement accountable for their actions whether good or bad,” when asked to further support his argument for wanting to keep qualified immunity from being banned.
Joe believes that most things in life are merely a matter of perspective, there is no one size fits all solution that will solve all problems but through collaborative efforts we can get pretty darn close. Trying to bring a balanced perspective to every situation, Joe says that “As an elected official, I would rather engage with the community when making decisions that will impact their lives in a creative manner. One thing that I will do that my opponent does not do is actually show up and be present in my community. We will rebuild our community, improve our education system and bring back quality jobs so our people can get to work.”
About Joe:
Joe’s passion to serve others started at an early age and earned him the nickname “GI Joe.” Ironically, he was always intrigued by the Military and Prominent Leaders like George Bush, Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, and John F. Kennedy.
Joe made the most important decision of his first step into adulthood. He was going to follow in the footsteps of the men he admired so greatly; Joe Collins joined the US Navy. Serving 13 and a half successful years as an Aviation Machinist Mate, Joe Collins worked and trained thousands of sailors on many types of aircraft including the F-18 Super Hornet, E6 Mercury, and the MH60 Sea-hawk.
With the help of the US Navy, he also became a licensed financial professional. Joe’s passion to help others also came in the form of becoming a Certified Counselor for rape and sexual assault victims as a sailor in the US Navy, Joe served during the successful campaign, “Operation Iraqi Freedom”. He also served in the recruiting duty area, where he earned numerous honors and awards. This was a role Joe enjoyed immensely, as he had the pleasure of jumpstarting the future careers for many of our young American leaders of today.

CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED DEBUT ALBUM W.L. AVAILABLE NOW HERE
Rising Scottish indie rockers The Snuts have announced they will embark on their first ever US headline tour this Fall. The tour will kick off on October 5 in Baltimore, MD, and wrap on October 14 in San Francisco, CA. Girlhouse will provide support. Tickets for all dates are on sale beginning today HERE.
Last month, The Snuts released their critically acclaimed debut album W.L. The album debuted at number 1 in the UK, and marked the biggest debut from a British band in five years. Additionally, The Snuts became the first Scottish band to achieve a UK Number 1 with their debut album in 14 years. W.L. is available physically and digitally via Parlophone Records/Elektra Records now HERE.
W.L. is highlighted by current single “Glasgow,” heartfelt ballad “Somebody Loves You,” the hip-hop driven “Elephants,” the anthemic “Always,” and festival-ready track, “All Your Friends.” Dork Magazine praised, “W.L. is a masterclass in ballads and risk-taking that proves music works best when it comes from the heart.” NME proclaimed “The Scottish rockers are creating an arsenal of anthems for festival season’s return.” Atwood Magazine hailed, “The four-piece have rewritten the song sheet for British indie bands with their open-ended and genre-merging record.”
Hailing from Whitburn, West Lothian, The Snuts have truly found their stride on W.L. Produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Phoenix, M83) and recorded at the Firepit London, the album encapsulates the band’s journey from four working class kids growing up with a dream, to becoming one of the UK’s most exciting new bands.
Adored for their uninhibited, sweat-drenched live shows, the band will also embark on a largely sold-out tour of the UK and Ireland this Fall. The massive trek will include a run of special unplugged dates, as well as three sold out hometown shows at Glasgow’s Barrowland.
