Tips for Getting More Activity into Your Life

Are you interested in changing your lifestyle to make it more active? If you’ve always been more of a couch potato than a weekend warrior, it can be hard to get motivated to move more. However, there are plenty of ways to ease into a more active lifestyle, and some of them even allow you to keep doing the same favorite activities you’d do from your couch.

Indoor Machines

If you have a lot of sporty friends, they’re probably always touting the benefits of the outdoors to you, but let’s face it: the drawbacks include things like heat, cold and bugs. If you don’t love the outdoors and you aren’t a fan of exercise classes and really all you want to do is keep watching your favorite streaming comedy or drama, you can have your cake and eat it too. Stationary exercise bikes and treadmills allow you to watch whatever you like or even read while you move. You might be surprised at how easily the miles slip away when you’re distracted.

Starting Small

Maybe you actually love the idea of being the kind of person who heads out happily for a 10-mile run or a 50-mile bike ride but you’re intimidated by the idea of getting started. Those first steps can be the hardest, but starting small doesn’t just make it easier for you. It’s actually the key to success. If you try to do too much, you’ll quickly get discouraged, but taking a short walk on your lunch break or making an effort to get more active with your kids are easy ways to slowly make activity a more regular part of your life.

You might also look at ways to ensure that physical activity is enjoyable and comfortable for you. If you want to get into hiking, you don’t have to sleep in a tent every night. You can take day hikes and still sleep in your own bed every night. If the thought of cycling up big hills or on hot days intimidates you, you may want to consider an eBike. These battery-operated bikes essentially let you put in the amount of effort you feel comfortable with. If you do choose cycling, make safety a priority and wear a helmet. This can save your life if you are in accident.

An Active Desk

If you spend a lot of time working at a desk, this is actually a prime opportunity to get some movement in throughout the day. Sitting on an exercise ball instead of in a chair can help you strengthen your core while a treadmill desk lets you pedal while you work. You can even try out a standing desk.

Join a Group

A great way to get motivated to make a change in your lifestyle is by joining a group, either virtually or in person. On social media, you’ll find many different options based on activity, age or other factors. This can be especially helpful if you don’t have friends or family members who have particularly active lifestyles.

Watch the “Sky” music video here.

In January, Playboi Carti landed his first #1 album on Billboard’s 200 Chart with Whole Lotta Red. The album, released on Christmas day, sold 100,000 units and received 160 Million global streams within its first week. In addition, Whole Lotta Red trended #1 upon its release on Twitter, and tracks from the album held 3 out of the top ten trending spots at YouTube including #1 upon release.

Alongside the album, Playboi Carti dropped the official video for M3tamorphosis” ft. Kid Cudi. The video, directed by Nico Ballesteros, has already garnered over 7.3 Million views.

Whole Lotta Red features 24 tracks with appearances by rap superstars Future, Kid Cudi and Kanye West. This is Playboi Carti’s second studio album, following Die Lit which was released in 2018 and debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart. It has clocked over a staggering 1.6 Billion streams for its tracks to date.

About Playboi Carti

In just a few short years, rapper Playboi Carti has amassed millions of streams worldwide, with a global appeal that has steadily placed him within the upper echelon of new stars. The Atlanta native first started his career in high school under the name Sir Cartier. Raised on a cross-section of soulful Pop greats like Prince and Michael Jackson mixed with Trap stars like Jeezy and Gucci Mane, Carti found his own voice, securing local buzz with tracks like “YUNGXANHOE” and “Lost.” He graduated high school and was bound for the Bronx, where connecting with the A$AP Mob became fortuitous as he later forged a bond with leader A$AP Rocky and became a de-facto Mob affiliate. A series of viral hits followed—from “Broke Boi” to “Fetti”—as Carti later inked a deal with Interscope Records and dropped his eponymous mixtape in 2017. The project featured the single “Magnolia,” as its meteoric rise garnered over 600 million cumulative streams with cosigns from Beyoncé and features on series like Atlanta. The following year, Carti dropped his debut album Die Lit, debuting at Number 3 on the Billboard 200, boasting collaborations like Lil Uzi Vert on “Shoota,” “Poke It Out” with Nicki Minaj, “Love Hurts” with Travis Scott and many more. In April of 2020, Playboi Carti returned with “@MEH,” cracking the 80 million mark already in streams. With a constant string of hits, Playboi Carti doesn’t miss.

Wes Nelson New Single

WES NELSON RELEASES NEW SINGLE “NICE TO MEET YA” FEAT. YXNG BANE

FOLLOWS THE GOLD CERTIFIED TOP 3 DEBUT SINGLE “SEE NOBODY”

Following his massive breakthrough debut single last year, Wes Nelson returns with another monster hit “Nice To Meet Ya” featuring Yxng Bane.

Listen and watch “Nice To Meet Ya”

With its moody blend of Afrobeats, smooth R&B production and Wes’ infectious melodies, “Nice To Meet Ya” feels like an instant classic; confident, effortless and ridiculously catchy. Written by Wes and produced once again by rising beatmaker, Ayo Beatz (Fredo, Young M.A.), the track delivers on Wes’s promise both as a talented songwriter and vocalist. Featuring Yxng Bane, the East London star had written and recorded his parts within a day of hearing the track.

Wes says, “I wanted people to sing ‘Nice To Meet Ya’ and just feel good about themselves, like 3 minutes of escapism! Especially with lockdowns, we’re all feeling a bit trapped, and people are down, I just want people to get up and feel good.”

One of 2020’s biggest singles, “See Nobody” was written and produced during lockdown from Wes’ makeshift bedroom studio. A Gold-certified hit in the UK and double Platinum in Ireland, the top 3 debut single has accumulated over 70 million streams globally, with over 38 million streams on Spotify and over 13 million video views. It also became an instant favorite amongst cultural commentators, musicians and attracted notable fans such as the likes of Anthony Joshua, Idris Elba, Stevo The Madman, Chip, Krept & Konan, Jay1, S1mba, Jae5, SL and many more.

A former undefeated champion Muay Thai kickboxer, semi-professional footballer and Nuclear System Design Engineer, music has always been Wes’ first love and his greatest ambition. After being gifted with a red plastic karaoke machine at age 3, he would perform for his family every Friday night and sing along to the Top of The Pops’ hits of the day. As he grew into his teen years, he lacked the confidence to be open about his passion for music and instead focused on other interests. Last year, quarantine became an opportunity for Wes to return to his artistic craving: while others baked banana bread and binge-watched Selling Sunset, he took the discipline he learned from Muay Thai and applied it to music.

With his focus now fully on music, who knows where the next chapter could lead. He has the desire – and potential to be one of the UK’s most successful R&B/Pop artists. Wes not only has the talent, but the focus, drive and discipline that such ambition takes.

“I know it’s not going to happen overnight, but consistency is key. The best artists are the ones who stay true to themselves; authenticity is everything to me and that’’s what will take me all the way.”

WITH SOUTH AFRICA REOPENED,
THE ROYAL PORTFOLIO LAYS OUT RED CARPET FOR AMERICAN VISITORS

Now that South Africa has reopened to American travelers, The Royal Portfolio is once more welcoming transatlantic guests. “We’re absolutely thrilled to see Americans again,” says The Royal Portfolio’s founder and visionary, Liz Biden.

In order to enter South Africa (and several other destinations), Americans now only need proof of a negative Covid-PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure. “And when it’s time to go home again, we are arranging effortless in-room Covid-testing for re-entry into the United States,” Biden added. Visitors to South Africa benefit from an extremely favorable exchange rate against the dollar, as well as comfortingly rigorous health protocols at the country’s wealth of hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions.

The Royal Portfolio is a collection of award-winning private hotels and lodges in iconic South African destinations. The Royal Portfolio comprises:

  • Royal Malewane in the Greater Kruger National Park, with its exquisite Main Lodge, the more intimate Farmstead and the finest interpretive guiding team in Africa.
  • Birkenhead House, perched on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at Hermanus, an ideal spot for relaxing and for whale watching.
  • La Residence in the wine country of Franschhoek, consistently voted “best in Africa” by the readers of America’s leading travel magazines.
  • The Silo Hotel on Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront: the magnificent top floors of a grain silo that was the tallest building in Africa when it opened in 1924; the building was recently converted by London’s megastar architect, Thomas Heatherwick, into its dual purpose as the Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) as well as The Silo Hotel.

“Our team has created a 10-night Royal Itinerary which includes a stay at each of our four properties, offering the perfect circuit for discovering the wildlife, glamour, cuisine, wines and sophistication of today’s South Africa,” says Biden, “enabling us to look after our guests from the moment they land in South Africa until the moment they leave. South Africa has one of the world’s most advanced private health systems,” Biden stressed, “and with the roll-out of vaccines, low infection rates, and easy access to testing, life is speedily returning to normal.”

National Minority Health Month

National Minority Health Month:
Working Together to Help Communities Become Vaccine Ready

April is National Minority Health Month, and this year, the HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) and national, state, territorial, tribal and local partners will focus on the impact of COVID-19 on racial and ethnic minority and American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Together, we will underscore the need for communities at higher risk of COVID-19 to get vaccinated as more vaccines become available.

The theme for National Minority Health Month is #VaccineReady and observance activities will support helping vulnerable communities get the facts about COVID-19 vaccines, share accurate vaccine information, participate in clinical trials, get vaccinated when the time comes, and proactively practice COVID-19 safety measures.

“Since the start of the pandemic, data show that racial and ethnic minorities are more likely to test positive for COVID-19, more likely to be hospitalized and more likely to die from COVID-19 compared to non-Hispanic whites,” said RADM Felicia Collins, MD, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Minority Health and OMH Director.  “While there appears to be light at the end of the long pandemic tunnel, it is important for all of us to be vaccine ready and to continue the public health precautions while we wait our turn to get the vaccine – wearing a mask, watching our distance and washing our hands.”

Studies show that COVID-19 vaccines are effective at keeping people from getting COVID-19 and the CDC recommends that everyone get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible. As more vaccines become available, there are steps individuals can take to protect themselves until they can get vaccinated:

  • Wear a mask to protect yourself and others and stop the spread of COVID-19.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Stay at least 6 feet apart from others who do not live with you.
  • Avoid crowds. The more people you are in contact with, the more likely you are to be exposed to COVID-19.

Fully vaccinated people should continue to take precautions in public like wearing a well-fitted mask, maintaining physical distance from unvaccinated people or people whose vaccination status you do not know, and practicing other prevention measures as recommended by the CDC

To learn more about National Minority Health Month, find resources, events, and information in English and Spanish, visit the Office of Minority Health website. Follow OMH on Twitter or Twitter in Spanish, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube

JULIA MICHAELS – ALL YOUR EXES

EXES BEWARE GRAMMY® NOMINATED SINGER & SONGWRITER JULIA MICHAELS CHANNELS PYSCHO KILLER IN NEW VIDEO FOR  “ALL YOUR EXES” OUT NOW

FULL-LENGTH ALBUM DEBUT COMING APRIL 30TH

Watch the music video for “All Your Exes”—HERE.
Listen to “All Your Exes”—HERE.

Grammy® Award-nominated multiplatinum singer and songwriter Julia Michaels has unleashed the clever and campy music video for her latest single “All Your Exes.”

In the visual directed by Blythe Thomas, she quite literally brings the song to life in bloody good fashion. Nodding to cult classics such as Serial Mom and American Psycho, Julia invites her boyfriend’s exes over for “dinner.” What follows is brutally hilarious as there’s no chance anybody will ever bring up her significant other’s past trysts ever again.

Consider yourself warned…

“I think this is the most fun I’ve ever had making a music video,” she commented.  “I’ve never really played a character before, so it was fun to let loose and show a side of me that fans haven’t seen,” she says.  “I feel like we all have those moments in relationships where our minds go to ridiculous places- like clearly I don’t want to kill your exes, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about it,” she laughs.  “This album shows another side of me, because for the first time I’ve experienced a new kind of love, one that has been happy and healthy, and the songs reflect that. Oh wow, that sounds gross hearing myself say that,” she laughs “but I’m still excited to share them,” she adds.

A clip of the video premiered yesterday on YouTube Originals weekly music show, “RELEASED,” which premieres every Thursday night at 11:45pm ET in the moments before the world’s top artists drop their new music, only on YouTube.

Last week, Julia unveiled “All Your Exes.” Co-written with Grammy nominated singer and songwriter JP Saxe, the track immediately garnered critical acclaim. Entertainment Weekly hailed it “a deliciously wicked delight,” with The New York Times praising it as “harsh, funny, sad and relatably petty.”  FLOOD Magazine called it “a prime example of a vulnerable pop-punk banger,” while Billboard noted “Michaels has a tendency to throttle her listeners with her pen — and on the muscular, virtuosic “All Your Exes,” she makes sure that your attention is focused entirely on her seething jealousy.”  Meanwhile, V Magazine summarized “There’s something to ditching fairytale notions of love that Julia Michaels fully gets as she returns to the front of the stage once again.”

Be on the lookout for additional details on her forthcoming album, arriving April 30.

ABOUT JULIA MICHAELS

Over the past few years, no songwriter has had more of an impact on reshaping pop music than Grammy nominated and multi-platinum selling artist Julia Michaels, whose razor-sharp perspective on love, loss, and the wide spectrum of the human experience has deservedly catapulted her to the forefront of her industry. Lauded for her work on hit singles by artists like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Niall Horan, Dua Lipa, Janelle Monáe, Shawn Mendes, P!NK, Ed Sheeran, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, Hailee Steinfeld, The Chicks, Keith Urban, Jessie Ware, and more, Julia has spent the last decade honing her craft and delivering fans some of the most evocative music of a generation.

In 2017, Julia embarked on a solo career separate from her work synthesizing the stories of the stars around her with “Issues,” her 5x-platinum selling debut single. A year later, her peers recognized her stunning work with Grammy nominations for “Best New Artist” and “Song of the Year.” Committing to her solo work, Julia released a series of critically acclaimed EPs, including 2017’s fan-favorite Nervous System and 2019’s critically acclaimed Inner Monologue Part 1 and Inner Monologue Part 2. She also embarked on The Inner Monologue Tour, which marked her first-ever headline tour throughout the U.S. following an enviable run touring the world with an incredible array of artists including Maroon 5, Keith Urban, Shawn Mendes, Niall Horan, and P!NK.

In 2020, she received her third Grammy nomination, and second in the prestigious “Song Of The Year” category, for her collaboration with JP Saxe on “If The World Was Ending,” in addition to earning her second #1 as a songwriter on the Billboard Hot 100 for Selena Gomez’ “Lose You To Love Me.”

AMBER VAN DAY × ILIRA – SEE YOU IN TEARS

RETURNS WITH FIREY NEW TRACK “SEE YOU IN TEARS” FEAT. ILIRA

LISTEN TO THE SONG HERE

Following her global Shazam success, Amber Van Day teams up with Ilira for the girl boss anthem “See You In Tears” After her debut single “Kids In The Corner” was featured in the epic opening scene of the No. 1 Netflix series “Fate: The Winx Saga” a few weeks ago, Amber Van Day has conquered the Global Shazam Charts. With the next highlight already on the way, Amber Van Day has teamed up with singer and songwriter Ilira to write and record the catchy pop anthem “See You In Tears” in the midst of the lockdown. But beware: these two ladies did not come to play. Listen HERE.

Amber Van Day and Ilira, a native of Switzerland with Kosovo-Albanian roots, have a clear statement to girls who make a pass at their boyfriends. Looking at him is kind of where they draw the line: “Like a puppy/in the window/he’s irresistible/so you want him/like I want him/but you’re delusional” The collab came to life after Amber Van Day and Ilira realized that they are big fans and have been following each other on Instagram for some time now.

Amber Van said, “I absolutely loved working with Ilira. We wrote a couple of songs together over lockdown and “See You In Tears” just felt like the song with the most sass! Ilira is such a great writer and I’m obsessed with her voice too. You could say we’re both a bit “out there” and not afraid of pushing boundaries. She’s a SERIOUS boss and empowers me as a female in the industry!”

Ilira continued, “I have been following Amber’s career for a long time. You could say I was a little fan girl of Amber’s. When we had the zoom session, I was in Switzerland at my parent’s house, the other co-writer was in Berlin, and Amber was in London, so it was a very international constellation. I find Amber to be just like me when it comes to perfectionism and passion. I really feel connected to her, especially character-wise. We are both ambitious women in an industry full of men, we just get each other.”

About Amber Van Day

After her debut single “Kids In The Corner” was picked up by the No.1 Netflix show “Fate: The Winx Saga” and featured in the epic opening scene, it immediately triggered hype on Shazam! The song has been searched over 250,000 times worldwide and shot to #17 on the Global Shazam Charts within a few days. In the US and Australia, the single reached #2 on the Shazam Discovery charts and landed some of the most important and influential radio playlists in Germany and other countries.
