The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most iconic American sports franchises in history. Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant are just some of the legendary names to have worn the famed purple and gold, making the Lakers one of, if not the most popular team in the NBA. According to data presented by Safe Betting Sites, as of March 2021, the Los Angeles Lakers lead the NBA’s Social Media rankings with the most followers on Facebook and Twitter.

Los Angeles Lakers Most Followed NBA Team On Social Media – Over 30M Followers

The Los Angeles Lakers are not only one of the most popular American sports franchises, but also one of the most successful. The Lakers have won the NBA world championship a record-tying 17 times since the NBA began. Ther most recent championship came from the improvised 2019-2020 season when they were led to victory over the Miami Heat by superstar Lebron James.

The Lakers’ sustained success over decades of basketball seasons has earned the team one of the most passionate fanbases, not only in the U.S., but also globally. This large fanbase is evident in the Lakers’ over 30M combined followers on Facebook and Twitter, making them the most followed NBA team on social media

The NBA and Social Media

The NBA is one of the most popular sports leagues in the world, and basketball has become a global game because of the league’s international reach. The league is also at the forefront when it comes to fan engagement and outreach, constantly seeking to expand the game beyond American shores.

In recent times, the NBA has also shown a willingness to innovate and adapt to current trends. When social media started to permeate the mainstream, the NBA was one of the first to embrace it and eventually harness its capabilities. ANDERSON .PAAK – LOCKDOWN, LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN

MAKES TV DEBUT AS SILK SONIC PERFORMING NEW SINGLE “LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN”

Esteemed singer, songwriter, producer Anderson .Paak takes home the Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for his critically acclaimed single, “Lockdown”.

.Paak released his highly regarded single “Lockdown” last year on Juneteenth via Aftermath Entertainment, exclusively distributed by 12Tone Music, LLC. Inspiration for the song came from .Paak’s participation in a Los Angeles Black Lives Matter protest where peaceful protestors were being shot with rubber bullets by the police. The song was accompanied by the Grammy nominated video directed by Dave Meyers featuring Andra Day, Jay Rock, Syd, SiR, Dumbfoundead & Dominic Fike.

The now 4-time Grammy Award winning .Paak also took to the stage with Bruno Mars in a television performance debut of new project Silk Sonic with Bruno Mars. The duo performed a funky retro rendition of their new single, “Leave The Door Open.” Variety coincidentally described the song as “a glorious blast of vintage R&B that could be a Best R&B Song Grammy winner from 1974.”

Anderson .Paak was nominated for Best Music Video: “Lockdown” and Best Melodic Rap Performance: “Lockdown”.

The win for Best Melodic Rap Performance follows his Best R&B Album win for Ventura and Best R&B Performance win for “Come Home” featuring Andre 3000 earlier this year. He won his first Grammy in 2019 for Best Rap Performance for his song, “Bubblin.’”

ELLE KING × MIRANDA LAMBERT – “DRUNK (AND I DON’T WANNA GO HOME)”

ELLE KING AND MIRANDA LAMBERT’S “DRUNK (AND I DON’T WANNA GO HOME)” CRASHES INTO THE #1 SPOT ON BOTH THE BILLBOARD ROCK AND COUNTRY DIGITAL SONG CHARTS THIS WEEK.

Listen/Watch HERE

Elle King and Miranda Lambert’s brand new collaboration “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” is clearly the party everyone has been missing. The single debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales Chart and #1 on the Rock Digital Sales Chart. Listen/Watch the Video HERE.

The song was co-written by Elle King with Martin Johnson, who also produced the track, and was recorded in Nashville and New York pre-pandemic.

This is the second time the two female powerhouse performers have recorded together with their first release “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” (along with Maren Morris, Ashley McBryde, Tenille Townes and Caylee Hammack) going on to win the 2020 ACM Award for “Music Event of The Year.”  Elle also was a special guest on Miranda’s 2019 Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars tour.

To accompany the track, the pair met up in Nashville to film an 80s-inspired wedding video starring Elle as the bride and Miranda as her Maid of Honor complete with a cameo from Elle’s real-life fiancé as the groom. The video was shot in January by directing duo Running Bear using strict COVID protocols.

Watch the video HERE.

Check out what the press is saying about “Drunk”:

“’Drunk’ is a fist-pump, feel good, girl-power anthem from these two country power houses, with a nostalgic, pastel music video to match.”

360 Magazine

“This may be end up being a top-10 pop song, country song, and rock song of 2021.”

“Brilliant stuff here at the intersection King’s sassy roots-rock shtick, Lambert’s sassy country shtick, and the Nashville mainstream’s constant drift toward arena rock.”

Stereogum

“…a euphoric collaboration…exhilarating new duet.”
“When the chorus hits, it’s neon-spattered, banjo-flecked euphoria that fits perfectly with the idea of blowing off steam well into the wee hours.”

Rolling Stone

“Firebrands King and Lambert hit one out of the bar with this singalong ode to handing your keys to the bartender and drinking all night because you don’t want to go home. The song will fuel a thousand karaoke nights and a million bridal parties, but it’s the cotton candy-colored video that really sells it, with King as a feisty bride and Lambert as the maid of honor who’s the first to spike the punch.”

“… an enjoyable glass-raising anthem, but it’s the way that the ‘Ex’s and Oh’s’ singer and country veteran complement one another on the track that denotes a longstanding bond, and an opportunity to listen in on their fun.”

Billboard
“Elle King and Miranda Lambert’s Duet ‘Drunk’ Is an ‘All-In’ Party of an Event”

“Drunk” is a memorable, feel-good anthem.”

CMT

“…a rip-roarin’ good time!”
“…this catchy tribute to a blackout night, complete with a fun-filled, wedding-themed music video…”

“Go Behind the Scenes of Their Gender-Bending Music Video (Exclusive)

Miranda Lambert and Elle King’s ‘Drunk’”- Watch HERE

Entertainment Tonight

“…hilarious music video…”
People

“Country superstar Miranda Lambert and rocker Elle King let loose for a wild-night duet …up-tempo anthem…features a driving rhythmic stomp and maxed out country-rock edge, mixing rolling banjos with party-all-night vocals. Lambert leads the rebellious second verse and also blends her vocal in with King’s gritty delivery throughout, and King says track’s devil-may-care attitude suits them both well.”
Sounds Like Nashville

“It’s a wild wedding — and Miranda and Elle are there to party.”
The Boot

“the badassery levels are off the charts. Co-written by King and Martin Johnson, it’s a fun tribute to staying out till dawn and drinking the night away (remember that?).”

Whiskey Riff

“…unapologetic anthem…a first pumping, banjo-led party song to rule any dance floor.”

“’Drunk’ is coasting at the top of the charts right now because the track crosses any sort of existing genre barriers – the long hailing queen of country revenge tales and the rock/pop King belting out how they’re both not ready to leave the cash bar just yet. It’s a wedding party we all want to be a part of.”

Earmilk

“…a dizzying new party anthem”

“One-time tourmates Miranda Lambert and Elle King join forces once again for the genre-bending party banger…”

ABC Radio News

“Fun, upbeat…Exhilarating…a party anthem all about living your best life on the spur of the moment.”

MALUMA × #7DJ

Global Latin music idol MALUMA celebrated his 27th birthday by surprising fans with the release of the new visual album #7DJ (7 Days in Jamaica). The project consists of seven interconnected songs and videos which take us on an audiovisual journey as Maluma explores the heart of Jamaica, letting go of the trappings of fame and connecting with a new reality renewed by the Island through its people, music, and spirit of freedom.

For #7DJ, the versatile, ever-evolving singer/songwriter takes his sound in a completely unexpected new direction by fusing Latin urban music with reggae and dancehall, collaborating with renowned Jamaican artists Ziggy Marley and Charly Black, and incorporating traditional Jamaican musicians and live instruments (trumpets, saxophone, bass, drums). While each track has a distinct style, they are all seamlessly interconnected; the result is a Latin-urban-world music masterpiece that is as refreshing and magical as the journey that inspired it.

The #7DJ visual album concept was born more than a year ago on a seven day trip the artist took with his close friends and longtime music collaborators to Jamaica, a place he had dreamed of visiting since he was a child. He was able to immerse himself in the island life and sounds while spending time writing and collaborating and creating new connections and fusions every day on a trip that he describes as life-changing.

“Those seven days in Jamaica came at a time when I needed to escape and decompress as I had intensely worked non-stop on my career for seven years… causing me to question if I should even continue doing music. I did a lot of soul-searching and came back a different person, completely inspired and having realized that music is not just what I do, it’s part of who I am; how I experience and interpret life,” expressed Maluma.

#7DJ was produced by Edgar Barrera “Edge”, Johany Alejandro Corral “Nyal” and The Rude Boyz (Kevin “ADG” Jimenez and Bryan Lezcano “Chan El Genio”) with all the songs written by Maluma (Juan Luis Londoño) with Edgar Barrera, Vicente Barco, Johany Corral “Nyal”, Kevin Jimenez, Bryan Lezcano, Miky La Sensa, Ziggy Marley and Charly Black, among others.

Shot in Jamaica and Los Angeles, 36 Grados produced the short film comprised of seven interconnected videos that make the album an audio-visual adventure. To watch it click HERE.

The #7DJ album cover is an image created by Colombian artist Federico Uribe, renowned for using recycled materials to create life-like sculptures and art pieces. The artwork created from pieces of discarded plastic is a stunning portrait of Maluma that will be auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to environmental non-profits presented by Maluma’s foundation El Arte De Los SueÑos.

With the concept of executing a pop-up, sustainable art exhibit in Miami for the release of #7DJ, Maluma chose seven other Uribe art pieces made with everyday materials that represent each song of the album. The show is open to the public for a month, and will be streamed for everyone around the world to visit virtually. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will benefit the following non-profits based in Colombia: Fundación Amigos del Mar, Jardín Botánico de Cartagena and Stand Up Providencia.

Track list for #7DJ (7 Days in Jamaica)

  1. Tónika ft. Ziggy Marley
  2. Love ft. Charly Black
  3. Chocolate
  4. Agua de Jamaica
  5. Desayun-Arte
  6. La Burbuja
  7. Peligrosa

KO Media reveals the Summer issue of Elle Canada

KO Media is pleased to unveil the Summer issue of ELLE Canada, covered by chart-topping talent Dua Lipa, who released her much-anticipated new album during the COVID-19 pandemic, delivering a crop of hits able to make audiences both dance and cry. “I think it’s important to talk about your emotions and to be vulnerable and to show that you’re human,” says the artist in the candid conversation, also opening up about her isolation uniform and cooking-at-home adventures.

The escapist Summer issue equips readers with all the fashion, celebrity, style, beauty, health, and political conversations readers crave. The issue includes a primer on Canadian designers changing the industry, an intimate chat with Canadian powerhouse Shay Mitchell, the best ways to protect our skin this summer, a horoscope special to help navigate the season and a dreamy assortment of easy pastels and crisp whites fit for hot summer dressing. But the Summer issue also grapples with stuff-of-life questions: How do you manage relationships between two ambitious alpha partners? How can the COVID-19 slowdown present an opportunity for us to reassess breakneck-speed spending?

Vitally, ELLE Canada remains dedicated to showcasing diverse voices and reflecting the lived experiences of all Canadians. Though the Summer issue went to print prior to the global protests against anti-black racism, readers can turn to ElleCanada.com for up-to-the-minute coverage of the civil rights movement unfolding across the country and engage with difficult, frank, and thought-provoking discussions about how White silence is tantamount to violence against BIPOC Canadians, why Canadian media continues to shirk its responsibility to showcase Indigenous voices, and how we can come together to grapple with freeing our society from the burdens of systemic racism and oppression. “Activism and allyship are defined by effort and by taking action,” says Editor-in-Chief Vanessa Craft. “We will continue to do the work necessary to honor and support all Canadians.”

Lil Baby Performing at Grammy’s

PERFORMING ON THE 63rd ANNUAL GRAMMY’S

AIRING SUNDAY, MARCH 14, 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT ON CBS

NOMINATED FOR TWO GRAMMY AWARDS:

BEST RAP SONG AND BEST RAP PERFORMANCE FOR THE BIGGER

The Recording Academy announced that Lil Baby will perform at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. The Awards will air on Sunday, March 14th, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on CBS Television Network from the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown LA.

Lil Baby has been one of the most dominant and critically acclaimed names in rap since his first release in 2017. In February 2020, he released My Turn, which entered The Billboard 200 at #1, hovered in the Top 5 for 14 weeks, and then returned to the #1 selling album of any genre in 2020.

Lil Baby is as authentic as they come. At just 26 years old, he is unapologetically himself, speaking his truth in his lyrics and that connects him to listeners like no other. Last June as the nation protested, Lil Baby dropped a powerful record “The Bigger Picture”; articulating frustration, confusion, and a call to stand up for something much bigger than himself.

My Turn held 14 records simultaneously on The Billboard Hot 100 and Lil Baby has recently surpassed musical titans Prince and Paul McCartney among others in Billboard Hot 100 hits in his young 3-year career. To date, Baby’s catalog reached 22 billion global streams, scored 8 #1 songs at Urban Radio, won the BET Award for Best New Artist, named Vevo’s Top Performing Hip-Hop Artist of 2020, named MVP on Rap Caviar, and won the top award of Global Artist of the Year at the Apple Music Awards. The Bigger Picture was nominated for two Grammy’s (Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song). He has seen widespread critical acclaim from the likes of GQ and Vanity Fair and has graced the covers of Rolling Stone and NME. With such a rapid rise and a relentless stream of critical and commercial hits, it’s clear that Lil Baby is one of the greatest modern success stories in hip-hop.

Ivy Park x Adidas to Drop Drip 2.2

By Hannah DiPilato

After an incredibly successful clothing drop of the Adidas x Ivy Park collection, Beyoncé is at it again with a darker line. Adidas x Ivy Park’s Drip 2 sold out almost instantly, but a line that Beyoncé dubbed “Drip 2.2: Black Pack” is coming soon.

The Ivy Park Instagram account, @weareivypark, posted a teaser video of the collection captioned “THIS IS MY PARK.” Beyoncé also uploaded three posts on her Instagram to showcase the collection’s styles.

The line will debut on the Adidas website in the United States on November 17 and worldwide on the Adidas website on November 18. The collection will be available in-store on November 19. Hopefully, if you weren’t able to snag something from the first collection, these three days will be your lucky chance.

Drip 2.2 has much more neutral colors than the original Drip 2 drop. Drip 2 had a variety of bright green and teal colors and Drip 2.2 will feature black and nude. This makes the upcoming collection a bit more versatile and fitting for the winter months.

According to Teen Vogue, the designs “are similar to the last two drops; biker shorts, [sports] bras, a jumpsuit, sweats, fanny packs, and more. The only thing that’s really changed is the colors.”

A landing page announcing the launch can be found on Beyoncé’s website that shows off some of the styles we can expect next week. Teen Vogue also featured images of the collection.

British Vogue will feature Beyoncé on the cover of their December issue this year. Beyonce is shown in many stunning outfits throughout the shoot. In one image, she is showing off one of the neon looks from the Adidas x Ivy Park Drip 2 collection. The neon green jumpsuit is paired with a bold, dazzling necklace and a bright green bucket hat.

The three beautiful covers of Beyoncé were photographed by Kennedi Carter. According to Billboard, the 21-year-old photographer is the youngest photographer to shoot a cover in British Vouge’s history.

The December issue will also include an interview with Beyoncé conducted by Edward Enninful that shares how Beyoncé conquered 2020. She even shares that the most recent Ivy Park collection was inspired by quarantine.

“During quarantine, fashion was a place of escape for me. My kids and I came up with Fashion Fridays,”  Beyoncé said. “Every Friday, we would dress up in my clothes or make clothes together and take each other’s pictures. It became a ritual for us and an opportunity to handle this crazy year together,”

“The newest Ivy Park collection was inspired by this new tradition. It consciously uses bright, bold colours to remind us to smile,” she continued. “I used a lot of neon yellow and coral mixed with baby blue and earth tones that felt soothing. They brought me joy and made me smile in the midst of a tough time for all of us.”

This interview allows Beyoncé to dive deeper into her thoughts on fashion and her Ivy Park x Adidas collection. Along with the interview being featured in the December issue of British Vogue, it’s available on Vogue’s website

Ivy Park has been killing the athleisure game since it was founded in 2016. The company was originally joined with the popular store Topshop, but Beyoncé split from the Topshop name after allegations against the Ivy Park co-founder Sir Phillip Green.

Beyonce spoke in Elle about the origin of Ivy Park. “I would wake up in the morning, and my dad would come knocking at my door, telling me it’s time to go running, said Beyoncé. “I remember wanting to stop, but I would push myself to keep going. It taught me discipline.”

In 2019, the collaboration between Ivy Park and Adidas was launched and marked the rebranding of Ivy Park after splitting from Topshop. Now Ivy Park and Adidas are making waves with their joint collections. The collections have featured athletic clothing as well as spunky accessories.

Follow Beyoncé on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to make sure you don’t miss updates about the collection. You can also follow Ivy Park on Instagram and Twitter for recent updates. Make sure to mark your calendar for the release of Drip 2.2.

Grammy Awards Wine and Cocktail Pairings

*Congrats to ‘Best New Artist’ Grammy Winner Megan Thee Stallion

With the 63rd annual GRAMMY Awards rapidly approaching, it is time to start thinking about accolade-worthy wine and cocktail pairings to savor during the broadcast on March 14. Here are our picks for Best Beverages paired perfectly with each Record of the Year nominee.

BLACK PARADE (Beyoncé)

Trivento Reserve Maximum Red Blend ($10.99)

Beyoncé has been known to enjoy a glass of red wine and we can think of no better way than to toast this accolade than with a wine named after Trivento Reserve’s charismatic and charming winemaker – Maximiliano Ortiz. This deep ruby-red Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon blend, presents an aromatic complexity given by blackcurrants, red and black berries, black pepper, cinnamon, tobacco and smoky notes from the oak. In the mouth, the wine is round and sweet with good structure, persistent and pleasant tannins. The long finish is accompanied by oaky notes.

COLORS (Black Pumas)

Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot ($6.99)

Given Adrian Quesada’s impressive career spanning multiple genres, we’re thinking he might appreciate a wine brand that annually supports the Latin Grammys…this bright and intense ruby red Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot blend presents with dark berries and cocoa which carry over to the palate and are rounded out with mild but sexy tannins.

ROCKSTAR (DaBaby Featuring Roddy Ricch)

Frontera Sauvignon Blanc ($6.99)

DaBaby has been spotted enjoying a glass of white during his travels. Frontera Sauvignon Blanc is fruity in character with citric and peach aromas. Light in flavor, this fresh and well-balanced sauvignon blanc is the perfect white for DaBaby and his crew.

SAY SO (Doja Cat)

Doja Cat has not been shy about sharing her tips on making a delicious cocktail. Perhaps she’ll like this one created by Cristóbal Srokowski, Ron Abuelo Global Brand Ambassador.

VERACRUZ

1 1/2 oz. Ron Abuelo 7 Años

3/4 oz. Orange juice

3/4 oz. Lime juice

1/3 oz. Honey syrup 2:1

1/2 oz. Cinnamon syrup

2 dashes Angostura bitters

3/4 oz. Egg white

Technique: Add all the ingredients in the shaker and dry shake so the egg white is emulsified. Then shake again with ice added. Double strain into a coupette or a martini glass and garnish with an orange peel.

EVERYTHING I WANTED (Billie Eilish)

Trivento Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($10.99)

While Billie Eilish is not quite old enough to legally enjoy wine in the US, we do think she would appreciate a brand that has been implementing environmental and social policies for more than 12 years. Since 2008, Trivento embarked on one of the company’s most important educational and inclusive initiatives by bringing in a CENS satellite classroom for their employees to complete their secondary studies. And each year, Trivento has added social and environmental actions to become one of the industry brand’s most committed to society and the environment. Through strong alliances with the United Nations Global Compact , the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) , the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) through the Argentine Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEADS) and the Network of companies for diversity., Trivento is committed to giving back in each bottle what nature has given them.

This Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza has an intense ruby red color, with violet notes that trend towards dark orange with time. In the nose, aromas of black pepper, tobacco, candied wild berries such as redcurrants and blackberries are perceived. In the mouth, the wine is powerful with persisting tannins and well-structured body.

DON’T START NOW (Dua Lipa)

Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon ($6.99)

Dua Lipa is a fan of a glass of red. We also think she’ll love that this wine sports a QR code on its bottle that will lead one to a “Frontera Big and Bold Reds. Drink Them with Attitude” playlist. From Chile’s Central Valley, this bright and intense ruby red wine with violet reflections has aromas of fresh red fruits, together with toasted notes, highlighting coffee and chocolate. The palate offers harmonic tannins, medium body, good aftertaste. Think of it as the ideal wine to serve with red meats, cheese, spicy stews and pasta with spicy sauces.

CIRCLES (Post Malone)

Les Cadrans de Lassègue ($30)

Post Malone has shared a preference for a nice Bordeaux. Les Cadrans, named after the sundials on the facade of the château, in honor of the incredible sun exposure that Château Lassègue enjoys, is the estate’s second label. It is meticulously produced by sixth and seventh generation Vignerons Pierre and Nicolas Seillan at the Saint-Émilion estate the family jointly owns with the Jackson Family.

SAVAGE (Megan Thee Stallion Featuring Beyoncé) 🏆

When two superstars collaborate, they should be toasted with an aptly named beverage…

CRITIC PASSION

60 ml Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon

30 ml orange juice

30 ml passion fruit

10 ml simple syrup

Ice

Orange peel and mint garnish

Shake all ingredients together (except for the orange peel and mint for garnish). Strain into wine glass over ice. Garnish with orange peel and mint leaf.

Mosquito Season

How to Prepare for Mosquito Season

Mosquito season is right around the corner. If you happen to live in warmer regions of the country, you might already be seeing some mosquito activity around your home. Even if it will be a couple of months until the warm weather reaches your part of the country, it is very important to prepare for mosquito season early.

Here is why you should begin to prepare for mosquito season early and some ways to do that:

Why should I prepare for mosquito season early?

  • Mosquitoes may already be in your yard: While they seem to disappear in the colder months of the year, some mosquitoes can in fact survive the winter. How? Through a process called overwintering. Overwintering is when female mosquitoes lay their eggs before winter, and the eggs survive and eventually hatch when temperatures rise again.
  • Being prepared means avoiding unnecessary hassle: Why wait until your yard is filled with mosquitoes to do something about them? By preparing early, you can lessen the stress of mosquito season and focus on enjoying your outdoor space.

How should I prepare for mosquito season?

There are a number of ways you can get ready for the beginning of mosquito season and help prevent bites around your home. Below are a few:

  • Hire your local mosquito control company: The best way to beat mosquitoes is to enlist the help of a professional. Our specialists at Mosquito Authority are committed to doing everything possible to ensure your home and yard are mosquito-free zones. Our treatments are even designed to break up the 21-day lifecycle of mosquitoes, which means you won’t be bothered in between treatments.
  • Be aware of the best mosquito repellents and how to use them: Although your home will be mosquito-free after your Mosquito Authority treatments, other outdoor areas might not be. If you are planning on hiking, going to the park, or participating in any other outdoor activities in the spring and summer, make sure to apply insect repellent. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend using products that contain DEET, picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus, or other EPA-registered products.
  • Make sure your yard isn’t a breeding ground for mosquitoes: Mosquitoes need water to lay eggs, which is why any areas of standing water make for popular mosquito breeding grounds. As the snow begins to melt (or you start to experience more rainfall), standing water will start building up around your yard. A big part of DIY mosquito control is getting rid of standing water near your home; this includes tipping over items like trash can lids, tire swings, and children’s toys to empty the water out.
