American Attitudes Towards Immigrants

New Report: What Immigration Issues Do Americans Hold Sacred?

Why has immigration moved from being a mundane policy issue into one of the most hotly-debated topics in American politics today? Why was family separation so widely rebuked by the public and why is building a border wall so divisive?

Answers to these questions can be found in a new report published by the Center for Inclusion and Belonging at the American Immigration Council and Over Zero, titled: “What Immigration Issues Do Americans Hold Sacred? A Psychological Journey into American Attitudes Towards Immigrants” by Nichole Argo, Ph.D. and Kate Jassin, Ph.D.

The report—and the behavioral survey upon which it is based—overcome the limitations of traditional polling by digging deeper into how deeply respondents think about immigration issues, and why they feel the way that they do.

In March 2020, the authors conducted a nationally representative survey to examine 14 key immigration issues. They asked respondents to choose between an open or restrictive stance on each issue, then reflect on how much it mattered to them. They then asked how much money it would take for respondents to give up this value.

Stances that cannot be traded away for any amount of money are considered “sacred values.” They are processed in the brain differently than regular values, and efforts to argue or negotiate around them as if they are regular values are likely to backfire.

How sacred is immigration in the United States today to those on the right and the left? Very. This is one explanation for why the debate becomes so heated on immigration and easily divides Americans.

What are the beliefs, values, experiences, and attitudes most associated with open or restrictive sacralization and what can we do about it?

HECKFIELD PLACE: FIRST 100% BIODYNAMIC HOTEL IN UK

The Georgian Manor Estate Hotel and Home Farm Completes Three-Year Conversion to Holistic Approach to Agriculture.

Heckfield Place, the award-winning Georgian manor estate turned luxury hotel in Hampshire, England (about an hour outside of London), has achieved 100% biodynamic certification; becoming the very first hotel and farm estate in the United Kingdom to receive this designation.

This pioneering accreditation culminates a three-year process of conversion to biodynamics, an alternative form of agriculture that adopts a “closed loop” and holistic approach to farming–eschewing the use of chemicals to regenerate soil health to preserve the land for future generations, and to produce healthy and nutrient-rich foods.  As biodynamic growers, Heckfield uses the cycle of the moon to determine when to carry out cultivations. For growing a root crop such as carrots, the team works when the moon is in an earth constellation (goat, bull or virgin). For leaf crops, such as lettuce and spinach, they cultivate when the moon is in a water constellation (crab, scorpion or fish). For flowers, the focus is when the moon is in an air constellation (twins, scales or water carrier) and to encourage fruiting, the moon will be in a fire constellation (ram, lion or archer).

Heckfield’s Farm now provides in myriad of ways for the hotel: from flowers, beautifully arranged by its floral consultant Kitten Grayson Flowers along with its in-house florist, to rotating arable crops and organic produce that inspire the seasonal menus at the hotel’s restaurants Hearth and Marle, led by Culinary Director Skye Gyngell, who champions a root-to-plate ethos.

In 2020, the Heckfield Home Farm opened its own micro-dairy to produce milk, cream and butter for the hotel and local community from the estate’s Guernsey herd, along with 90 sheep and 20 pigs. An average of 400 chickens and 20 beehives provides eggs and honey.

The farm serves as a shining example of the self-sustaining relationship between the land and the house and captures the essence of the hotel’s unique approach to luxury hospitality in its role as custodians for the 438-acre estate to ensure a sustainable future for the land on which it resides.

“Being certified as biodynamic allows us a clearer framework and positive intent; if we choose chemical-based agriculture as the program for our soils, we will destroy the very life we all depend on,” says David Rowley, Head Market Gardener, Heckfield Estates. “Alternatively, we can choose to feed our soils, encourage all the microbiology and the beings and cycles, seen and unseen, picture the farm 100 years in the future–what would we like our grandchildren to see?”

For more information about sustainability at Heckfield Place and its Home Farm, please visit their website.

ABOUT HECKFIELD PLACE:

A Georgian family home dating to the 1700s, Heckfield Place has been lovingly restored to its classic origins and rewoven into its surrounding 400 acres of farmland, ancient heather and woodlands. The estate’s farm, two walled gardens and orchards nourish renowned chef Skye Gyngell’s epicurean cuisine, bringing the outside gloriously into the property’s three restaurants–Marle, with its outdoor balcony overlooking the property, the Sun House, a unique space for up to 30 guests in the Upper Walled Garden, and the open-flamed Hearth. Aiming to be as sustainable as possible, the estate has a biomass energy center to power hotel water and central heating; an aerobic digester to process all recyclable waste and provide compost for the garden and pellets for the biomass energy center; harvest rainwater and capture spring water. As part of the Assembly, the hotel’s event rooms can host up to 120 guests and the new state-of-the-art, Dolby Atmos surround sound cinema can accommodate 67 viewers. There is also an extensive wine cellar and tasting room, as well as the full service Little Bothy Spa.

2021 Could Be A Record-Breaking Year In Horse Racing

There is so much to look forward to in 2021 around the world in horse racing. Over in the UK, it is just weeks until two of the biggest National Hunt meetings in the sport, the Cheltenham Festival, and the Grand National. Over in the States, the best three-year-olds will begin their Triple Crown campaigns.

Here is a look at where history can be made this year with some storylines you do not want to miss.

Al Boum Photo’s Gold Cup Hat-Trick

As you can see from the Cheltenham race results, Al Boum Photo has won the last two renewals of the Cheltenham Gold Cup, so goes into this year’s contest looking for a hat-trick.

Watch video HERE.

Not many horses in the history of the Cheltenham feature have won it on three occasions. Since 1960, only Arkle and Best Mate have managed that feat, so Al Boum Photo would be joining great company. Willie Mullins’ runner made a winning return to action in Savills New Year Day Chase at Tramore earlier this year, so a triple win could be looking promising. Al Boum Photo also tops the betting to prevail in the Blue Riband event in the sport again on March 19.

Tiger Roll Bidding For Grand National History

A month after the Cheltenham Festival, the Grand National takes center stage at Aintree. There is one horse people will be talking about ahead of this year’s race and that is Tiger Roll. The 2018 and 2019 winner will be vying to become only the second horse to win the marathon contest three times.

The great Red Rum won his third Grand National in 1977, in what was his fifth appearance in the race. This will be Tiger Roll’s third run in the world’s most famous steeplechase, so his achievement would arguably be even greater.

Like Red Rum in the 70s, Tiger Roll has a huge fan following. He is currently the +1400 favorite with the bookmakers after being handed a weight allocation of 11st 9lb by the handicapper. Only three horses in the race have been given more weight than the reigning champion, so he faces a tough task ahead.

Bob Baffert Could Win Seventh Kentucky Derby

Watch video HERE.

Legendary US trainer Bob Baffert matched Ben Jones’ record of six Kentucky Derby wins in 2020. Authentic prevailed at Churchill Downs in the race which is considered to be the “two most exciting two minutes in sports.”

Baffert has had some excellent three-year-olds in his yard over the last three decades. It will be interesting to see who the next star could be from his barn. The early evidence suggests that it could be Life Is Good who is the ante-post favorite for the 2021 Kentucky Derby.

Life Is Good made a winning start to his career at Santa Anita back in January. He looked a smart prospect when claiming the Grade Three Sham Stakes in a 1m contest. Big things are expected from the colt who may have a good chance of becoming the latest Triple Crown winner in the US.

Hopefully, 2021 lives up to be a great year in horse racing and at the end of it, there will be a number of champions who go down in the history books in the sport.

Ivory Layne – Confetti

Rising Nashville-based singer songwriter Ivory Layne releases her debut EP ‘Confetti’ today, alongside focus track ‘Lonely Hearts’.

A collection of powerfully emotive songs that shows the breadth of and scope of Layne’s talents, the ‘Confetti’ EP includes critically acclaimed singles ‘December’, a surging rush of modern day soul pop, and Layne’s rousing feminist anthem ‘God Save The Queens’.

Meanwhile, the heart-crushing title track outlines just why Billboard tipped her to become “the new Adele”, while ‘Lonely Hearts’ is a sublime combination of classic songwriting and widescreen production that places her in the sphere of contemporary pop polymaths like Maggie Rogers.

Produced by Nick Atkinson and Edd Holloway aka The Barn Productions (Lewis Capaldi, Gabrielle Aplin, Dean Lewis) Jimmy Robbins (Keith Urban, Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert) and Ivory herself, the Confetti EP is Ivory’s first UK release since signing with Justin Timberlake’s development company Villa 40 and showcases the unique voice and masterful songwriting that caused Timberlake to sit up and take notice of Ivory’s talents.

Layne says‘In a world constantly asking “what do you believe?”, I see the Confetti EP as my answer. It’s been my musical collection of lessons learned over the last seven years, touching on themes of personal growth, heartbreak, love, mental health, and letting go. I began this EP having barely co-written, never been in a relationship, still new to Nashville, and with one academic trip abroad under my belt. I finished writing it last year in London, having visited so many times it felt like home, crafting songs about dates gone wrong for the right reasons and the beauty found in every season when you take the time to look. I’m still writing as I’m living, it’s the nature of art itself, but the Confetti EP will always hold a special place as the diary of my early twenties, where I’ve been and where I want to go.”

Tipped for stardom by the likes of Billboard, V Magazine and Live Nation’s Ones To Watch, Layne’s remarkable talent has garnered critical acclaim as well as attracting a wealth of stellar collaborators.

In just a few years, she’s worked with Grammy award-winning producer Ed Cash (Dolly Parton, Amy Grant) on her debut EP; collaborated with Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness and Needtobreathe; written for other artists alongside co-writes with some of Nashville’s finest including Jimmy Robbins, Shane McAnally and Lori McKenna. Layne’s sharpness in the writer’s room has also landed her two global ad campaigns, one for prestigious jewellery house Swarovski and another for cable giant, HBO.

The Confetti EP is primed to cement Layne’s reputation as one of the world’s finest, rising female talents.

I let you experience the ‘mad world’ that is my life.”

“My album Manifest is a guide for people to transform into the greatest version of themselves,” Sessions concludes.  “A body of work that will lead people to find their inner super hero!”

Bodhi, Sessions, and Paige will bring their short stories to life alongside some of Marvel’s most talented comic book writers and artists. Kicking off with her Storm story in Black Panther #23, Bodhi will be joined by co-writer Danny Lore, artist Alitha Martinez, and colorist Rachelle Rosenberg. The New Blade

By: Catherine Martin

With the reboot of Marvel’s Blade expected to arrive to theaters in 2022, many fans of the original 1998 superhero movie speculate whether Wesley Snipes will reprise his role in the film. Snipes played the role of the eponymous half-vampire/half-human hybrid, Blade, who has the duties of a superhero and a vampire hunter. He played Blade throughout all three of the Blade franchise movies, yet, he is not expected to be cast in this iconic role again for the new reboot. Instead, Oscar-winning Mahershala Ali will be playing the role of this flawed hero. Keep in touch with what Ali is up to HERE.

Fans of the original Blade trilogy were uncertain about how to feel about the new casting, but Welsey Snipes has since told his fans to “chillaaxx.” Although he has told his fans to calm down, it has not stopped him from being adamant about how he is, and always will be, Blade. On January 7th he quote tweeted a message to him asking, “Wes, can you be Blade again?” and in response stated, “I AM BLADE…forever.” After spending so much time as Blade, there is no doubt that Wesley Snipes has a deep connection with this role and that it will always be a part of him.

The details of Blade are still being kept from the masses, and the only confirmed detail known, right now, is Ali’s attachment to the project. Back in 2019 Snipes made a comment about his opinion of Ali’s casting for the role of Blade:

“People are very, very sneaky. They try to make it about the actors,” Snipes told AP. “It’s not about me and him. I’m happy for him to be considered. I’m happy for them looking at him. Flattery… what do they say? Imitation is the best form of flattery. It’s something that he has acknowledged that he wanted to do and his family wanted him to do it, so I’m appreciative of him getting the love that I’ve created something that others want to carry on and make their own stamp on.”

Wesley Snipes response was not only calm and collected, but extremely supportive as well. More support can be noted in a more recent interview with Den of Geek (read more about it HERE), and we can see where the two stand in regards to each other and if they have kept in contact since the announcement of Ali’s new role as Blade. So, the suspicions people have about Snipes being upset with Ali can be erased once and for all.

“No, he hasn’t called me. We haven’t talked about characterizations or how he should play it or anything like that. I can’t imagine that call ever coming in. That would be really strange. But we did communicate about how much we appreciate each other’s work, and how I’m comfortable with saying, ‘Hey man, go rock it, baby. If you got it, do it.”

Though, Wesley Snipes will not be playing his iconic role as Blade, he will always carry the attachment and fond memories of his time with this character. In addition, his part has inspired many people, Mahershala Ali included (you can hear his thoughts on Wesley Snipes HERE), and will remain the marker and epitome of, Blade.

WESLEY SNIPES’ OTHER ENDEAVORS

There are many ways to keep up with the actor through his other endeavors. He recently played General Izzie in Coming 2 America, starring Eddie Murphy. The comedy/rom-com will be available to watch on Amazon Prime March 5, 2021. Watch the trailer HERE. Additionally, outside the realm of acting, Snipes has now coauthored a dark fantasy novel with Ray Norman, Talon of God. So, for all fans of Wesley Snipes, you can continue to keep up with the actor, film producer, martial artist and author through the multitude of content he continues to produce.

KEEP UP WITH WESLEY SNIPES

How to Make a Sploof [Guide]

Even though millions of Americans and almost all Canadian adults are legally allowed to use cannabis, not everyone is comfortable advertising the fact. If you live in a rented property, likely, your landlord isn’t happy to have stoner tenants stinking out their investment! Perhaps you have neighbors who complain about the whiff, or else you don’t want your parents knowing what’s going on in your room.

Whatever the reason, having a method of filtering out the smell of weed as you smoke is invaluable. As it happens, there is such a device! It is called a ‘sploof,’ and those who have made one swear that it is effective.

Why Does Marijuana Smoke Stink?

Before we learn how to make a sploof, let’s take a quick look at why your pot has such a distinctive scent. The age of the marijuana plant when harvested is arguably the most crucial factor. When weed is harvested earlier in its life cycle, it tends to have a less skunky aroma, especially when smoked. If you smoke cannabis that is ‘older’ before being cured and dried, it usually emits a more pungent odor.

There are thousands of strains, some of which have very distinctive scents. However, for the uninitiated, the dried cannabis plant offers a piney skunk aroma when lit and smoked. In the main, you’ll ascertain the difference between strains before combustion. Herb connoisseurs love the fresh scent of marijuana when they first purchase it. At this stage, it can have an array of odors, including lemon, lime, strawberry, diesel, plum, or pine.

Overall, you can thank the hundreds of terpenes contained in cannabis for its overall scent. You will find the terpenes secreted in the same glands that produce cannabinoids such as CBD and THC. These oils help distinguish one strain from another. Repeating isoprene molecules make up terpenes. As a result, they are volatile, easily combustible compounds. The traditional method of smoking cannabis typically results in the combustion of terpenes.

The skunky aroma you get from weed potentially comes from a metabolic product of a precursor to acetyl coenzyme A. This particular fragment has a smell akin to that of appalling sewer gas. If this theory is correct, it helps explain why we get such a strong scent from combusted marijuana. Others claim that myrcene, one of the most predominant terpenes in a large variety of strains, plays a significant role in providing the skunky aroma.

If you have ever smoked marijuana, especially in a room with a few other people, you’ll know that the stink sticks to your skin, clothing, and hair. The odor mixes with the scents of smoke and fire and intensifies the natural odors (such as sweat) that we naturally produce. When you create a sploof, however, you can avoid all of this unwanted drama.

What Is a Sploof?

It is a homemade device that allows you to neutralize the telltale marijuana odor. While you are free to purchase one online, making one is quick, easy, and cheap, as you’ll see a little later on. When you smoke a blunt or joint, you release the smoke into the air. When you blow the smoke into a sploof, the smoke goes through a filtering agent and loses its famous stench.

As for the origins of the term, it is probably a combination of the words ‘spliff’ and ‘spoof.’ In case you were not aware, a spliff is a combination of tobacco and marijuana flower. If this prospect horrifies you, steer clear of Western Europe and the Caribbean because spliffs remain extremely popular in both regions! A spoof is a trick played on someone, although a ‘spoofer’ is an individual who bluffs and generally talks nonsense!

There is no good reason NOT to use a sploof and several reasons why you should:

  • A sploof is incredibly easy to make.
  • It filters out the smell of marijuana smoke, which makes it harder to detect.
  • It gives you a higher chance of enjoying a private session without your mom/landlord/partner/police finding out.
  • The smell doesn’t linger, so you don’t leave ‘evidence’ of your activities behind.

How to Make a DIY Sploof

To create a sploof, you need the following:

  • Scented dryer sheets
  • A paper towel tube or toilet paper roll tube
  • Rubber band, tape, or string
  • A pair of sharp scissors or a blade
  • A filtering agent such as activated carbon – not strictly essential but it makes a HUGE difference

Why do we need these ingredients?

Scented Dryer Sheets

It is highly likely that you have scented dryer sheets in your house. The infused odor helps hide the smell of marijuana smoke. Also, the thick weave of the material traps molecules that result in the well-known weed aroma. If you don’t have sheets at home, spend a few bucks and buy a packet.

Toilet Roll or Paper Towel Tube

We’re going to assume that you have toilet roll or paper towels in your home! Ideally, you’ll wait until you finish the paper. Otherwise, you have to waste it because you need the paper tube. Get rid of any tiny bits of paper that inevitably get stuck to the container before you begin. This tube is what you blow the smoke into.

The tape/rubber band/string is required to ensure the scented dryer sheets remain in place. You can use a plastic bottle as an alternative to the toilet paper tube.

Filtering Agent

Most DIY sploofs don’t bother with a filtering agent because the scented dryer sheet does a good enough job. However, adding something like activated carbon to the mix increases the effectiveness and longevity of your sploof.

The charcoal is extremely porous to the point where a gram has an actual surface area of approximately 3,000 square meters as determined by gas adsorption, despite being tiny! Incidentally, ‘adsorption’ relates to the adhesion of ions, molecules, or atoms from a dissolved solid, liquid, or gas to a solid surface. It means the charcoal has an incredible capacity to trap and hold the odorous molecules. Best of all, activated charcoal is easy to obtain and extremely inexpensive.

Making a Sploof – Step-by-Step

Now that you have the necessary ‘ingredients,’ it is time to create your magical marijuana smoke filtering device!

  1. Remove the remaining paper from the paper towel or toilet roll tube. If you are using a plastic bottle, cut it in half and keep the top part.
  2. Fill the inside of the tube or bottle with dryer sheets. As it isn’t necessary to pack them in tightly, you shouldn’t need more than four sheets.
  3. Take another dryer sheet, fold it, and put it over the end of the sploof. Secure it with string, tape, or a rubber band. At this point, your sploof is ready to go. Blow the smoke into the open end, and marvel at how your device filters the smell.
  4. If you are using activated charcoal, put it into the sploof after completing step #2. You only need to add a small amount. Then you tie the dryer sheet over the end.

That’s it! Once you have the requisite material, you can create a sploof in a matter of minutes.

Final Thoughts on Making a Sploof At Home

There are plenty of options if your goal is to control the odor emitted when smoking marijuana. Expensive choices include investing in an air filter or purifier. More affordable options include burning incense (although it is often associated with smoking weed), lighting scented candles, opening a window, and spraying everything in the room with Febreze!

However, there is no need to go through any of the above stress if you build a sploof. Among its many benefits is its versatility. As it is a container with holes at both ends, you have a variety of options. Apart from using a paper toilet roll tube or plastic bottle, you could also invest in a PVC pipe which will unquestionably last longer.

As for how long your sploof will last overall, it depends on the materials you use. The ‘classic’ option will lose its neutralizing power eventually. The precise longevity depends on how often you smoke, but you know it is time to change when you notice the odor of cannabis creeping into the room despite using the sploof. You might also see that the dryer sheets change color.

As you are using household items, throw your old sploof away and make a new one!

What Are the Side Effects of CBD Oil or Hemp Oil?

The use of CBD oil has become prevalent in the last few years, with more people than ever using it. The more people that start using it, the more others begin to see the appeal themselves, leading to an ever-increasing trend of CBD popularity.

One thing that a lot of people struggle with, however, is the potential side effects of CBD oil. As regular cannabis is well-known for having a myriad of side effects through its high, many people think that CBD might induce the same problems.

So, what are the side effects of CBD oil?

What Is CBD Oil & How Does It Work?

To understand CBD oil’s specific side effects, we first need to know how CBD oil works, to begin with.

When a person imbibes CBD, it reacts with the endocannabinoid system, which is the health system within the body that controls a myriad of different functions.

While the precise nature of the ECS is still being researched, a number of studies have found that the ECS, and indeed CBD itself, is able to trigger a variety of different effects.

For example, a study by Nagarkatti et al. found that CBD can trigger an anti-inflammatory response in the ECS. This allows people to actively control their inflammation response, which is especially useful for those suffering from conditions that result in inflammation, like arthritis.

CBD’s interaction with the endocannabinoid system, specifically its interaction with the cannabinoid receptors, allows it to induce a myriad of effects.

However, some of these effects might be construed as side effects depending on what the user was looking for when they did CBD.

What Kinds of Side Effects Can You Expect?

CBD oil doesn’t really have particular side effects, especially when compared to conventional drugs. Other drugs, like strong pain medications, have side effects that are not related to their intended impacts. Meanwhile, CBD’s generalized effect on the body means that it doesn’t really have many ‘unintended’ consequences.

When a person takes CBD oil, they are likely to notice a myriad of different effects. If you’re taking CBD oil for a particular purpose, though, then there are some effects you might not want.

For example, if a person were to try and take CBD oil for its anti-inflammatory properties, they might not want to experience the lower blood pressure that it can cause, according to a study by Jadoon et al.

The thing is that the side effects of CBD oils are not really worth worrying about for the majority of people because the products are actually relatively mild. While the idea of a person’s blood pressure being reduced due to taking CBD oil might seem frightening, it isn’t really sufficient to cause problems.

A person should consider worrying if they already suffer from low blood pressure or if they are already taking medication that induces low blood pressure.

The main thing to worry about with CBD oil is the fact that you will notice all of its effects, whether you want to or not.

Final Thoughts on the Side Effects of CBD Oil

CBD oil is something that is definitely pretty scary for newcomers, especially considering its relatively recent rise in popularity.

However, while taking a new thing is never easy, most potential users can rest easy knowing that there aren’t really any side effects worth worrying about.

For those looking to get started in trying to buy CBD oil on purekana, the best advice is to make sure that only brands that offer trustworthy, reputable products are considered. Brands like PureKana offer not only high-quality CBD products but will also ensure that reputable lab reports back up their products.

These lab reports are essential, especially for those concerned with any potential side effects of CBD oil. By knowing the precise composition of any product you are using, a user can make an informed decision about what they are putting in their body.

Coming 2 America

ESSENCE MARCH+APRIL TRIPLE COVERS FEATURE STAR-STUDDED CAST OF THE HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED COMING 2 AMERICA – INCLUDING EDDIE MURPHY, ARSENIO HALL, JERMAINE FOWLER, KIKI LAYNE AND BELLA MURPHY

Prepare the royal jet! Coming 2 America is finally arriving, with Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall and an all-star cast of returning and new faces—including Jermaine Fowler, KiKi Layne and Bella Murphy. It’s been more than three decades since the beloved original Coming to America hit theaters and became a true cult classic that has spanned multiple generations and demographics. Now, in the ESSENCEMarch/April issue triple cover article, The Fresh Princes of Zamunda, Regina R. Robertson talks to the cast about why this was the right time to do the sequel, their fave moments and what the film means to the culture:

  • EDDIE MURPHY ON WHAT THE FILM MEANS TO THE CULTURE: “Coming to America is one of my films that has really worked its way into the culture. People get dressed up as the characters for Halloween, and they still walk around saying catchphrases like ‘Sexual Chocolate.’ So many people grew up with Coming to America and have a lot invested in it, so I didn’t want to taint that…Once the ideas started coming together, it took about four or five years to get the script all the way right. Once we got it right, I knew it was time…”
  • ARSENIO HALL ON DOING THE SEQUEL: “A lot of people have posted about Coming to America and said things like, ‘Please don’t mess with my movie’ or ‘I don’t want no sequel!’ We’ve been pitched all kinds of ideas, but I remember reading the script in Eddie’s backyard and it was all making sense. That’s when I knew that this was going to be the sequel…”
  • KIKI LAYNE ON PLAYING MEEKA: “Meeka is loyal to her family. I’m interested in showcasing strong Black women— and being a part of this film was an opportunity to play in such a classic world and also to work with straight-up legends, all the way around…”
  • BELLA MURPHY ON PLAYING OMMA AND WORKING WITH HER DAD: “Omma is super-smart, a little bit of a badass, and she’s super-cool. Being able to do my first film with my dad is really special…I’m over the moon…”
  • JERMAINE ON PLAYING LAVELLE—AND WATCHING HIS DREAM COME TRUE: “In some ways, Lavelle reminds me a lot of myself when I was growing up and trying to figure out life. As a fan of the original film, I was honored to be a part of this whole world—but when they told me how Lavelle becomes part of the story, I just laughed my ass off and thought, All right, let’s do it…”
  • SHARI HEADLEY ON WHAT AUDIENCES WILL LOVE: “I’m as excited as the audience and have no doubt that this will be a film that people will love. I’ll venture to say they’ll love it even more than the first one…”
  • WESLEY SNIPES ON JOINING THE FILM: “I was like, ‘Whatever the role is, I want to be in it.’ Later, I was told that I was going to be a General—but really, I could have played a zebra and been just fine…”
