Y2K x BBNO$ – Wawawa

Artist/producer Y2K and rapper bbno$ have joined forces once again to release the addictive earworm “Wawawa”. Listen HERE and watch the video HERE.

Says Y2K, “Wawawa’ (nearly titled Lalala 2) is the next installment in a 3 part fantasy saga about a halfling who journeys across the world to a volcano to destroy an evil ring. Wawawa was written remotely due to the pandemic, not something that bbno$ and I have ever really done before. As a result the record ended up changing and evolving over the course of multiple sessions/notes spread out this summer and into fall. I’m stoked on the result, and I hope our listeners feel the same!”

Ari additionally notes, “Also I am dressed as a hot mom in the music vid.”

“Wawawa” is the first joint offering since the release of their 2X Platinum viral hit “Lalala” which peaked Top 5 on the Global Spotify Chart and was routinely in the Top 20 on Spotify’s U.S. chart; listen HERE. Y2K and bbno$ also released the high octane “Lalala Remix” featuring Grammy Award winner Enrique Iglesias and Multi-platinum, Grammy, Juno and Polaris Prize nominated singer/songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen. Listen to “Lalala Remix” HERE.

bbno$ concludes, “Lalala or Wawawa, you have one to choose wrong answer you will die.”

Madison Beer – BOYSHIT

Today sees Madison Beer release her latest single “BOYSHIT” via Epic Records. With the release comes Madison’s Vevo LIFT campaign, which features a performance of the single, along with “Selfish”, her fastest ever US certified gold record, and a short film on the artist titled “Becoming”. “BOYSHIT” is taken from Madison’s forthcoming debut album, Life Support, out 26th February 2021.

“’BOYSHIT’ is one of the last songs I recorded for my album, and it was just kind of a build up after this really long year.” says Madison. “It’s simply about knowing your worth and when to leave a situation. With the play on “bullshit” I figured it was the perfect time to use the age old saying about an immature or disrespectful boyfriend, ‘he’s not a man, he’s a boy,’ but it then flourished into more. This isn’t as simple as a childish man, it’s deeper than that. Anyone can behave in a “BOYSHIT” manner and I think there’s something to be said about knowing when enough is enough and when you’re truly just feeding into nonsense, I think a lot of that is knowing your worth. This song is meant to uplift and inspire people, of all genders, to know when it’s time to stop putting up with boyshit.”

“BOYSHIT” is the latest single from Madison’s highly anticipated debut album, Life Support, out 26th February 2021. The album is a strong personal and artistic statement that sees Madison where she thrives – commanding creative control through writing her own songs, producing and creating her own visuals. Life Support features previous releases “Good In Goodbye”,“Selfish”, “Stained Glass” and “Baby” which have a combined total stream count of over 442 million. Globally, Madison has nearly 3 billion streams across her catalogue.

“Writing songs is like therapy for me.” says Madison. “That’s why this album is called Life Support. It helped me get rid of the darkness and see the light. My inspirations sonically are really diverse. I guess I’m not an easy artist to pigeonhole, and a lot of these songs are like nothing I’ve ever attempted before. All of me is laid bare on this album; it’s been a really fulfilling experience to create something that feels so true to myself. I’m grateful to my fans who have stuck by me since the beginning. Life Support has been a long time coming, and I’m just so excited for them to see what I’ve been working on.”

Vevo has tapped Madison for their coveted LIFT campaign, out now. The 3-part series features a performance of “BOYSHIT”and “Selfish” alongside a short film titled “Becoming”. The campaign takes viewers further into the mind of the artist with striking visuals and gripping storytelling, and further cements Madison as an artist to watch for 2021. Vevo LIFT alumni include Billie Eilish, Halsey, Jorja Smith, and SZA.

Prior to signing with Epic Records late last year, Madison Beer achieved unprecedented success as an independent artist with her partner First Access Entertainment, having sold over 1 million records in the UK alone. Her debut EP As She Pleases made her the first independent female solo artist to break into the Top 20 radio charts, after having debuted in the Top 5 on iTunes in 18 countries and in the Top 10 in 42 countries worldwide. Following the release of As She Pleases Madison featured on Platinum Certified UK Top 10 hit “All Day and Night” by Europa and “Pop/Stars” by K/DA which topped Billboard’s world digital song sales chart. She’s attracted the endorsement of Time, NME, Complex, The Guardian, Billboard who named her among its coveted “21 Under 21” list and Rolling Stone who hailed her as a “rising pop star”.

Ellen Tests Positive for COVID

By Hannah DiPilato

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has shut down her talk show until January after testing positive for Covid-19.

“Hi Everyone,” DeGeneres wrote. “I want to let you all know that I tested positive for Covid-19. Fortunately, I’m feeling fine right now. Anyone who has been in close contact with me has been notified, and I am following all proper CDC guidelines. I’ll see you all again after the holidays. Please stay healthy and safe,” wrote Ellen on The Ellen DeGeneres Show’s official Twitter account

The announcement to cancel the show came from a spokesperson from Telepictures studio. “Following Ellen’s announcement this morning, we have paused production on the Ellen DeGeneres Show until January,” said the statement.

The show had returned to the air in Septmeber after a summer of employees reporting the show as a “toxic work environment.” Ellen made an apology about these allegations during the September premire.

“As you may have heard this summer, there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show,” DeGeneres said during the first episode back on the air. “And then there was an investigation. I learned that things happened here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously. And I want to say, I am so sorry to the people who were affected. I know that I’m in a position of privilege and power. I realized that with that comes responsibility and I take responsibility for what happens at my show. This is The Ellen DeGeneres Show. I am Ellen DeGeneres. My name is there. My name is there. My name is on underwear. We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, our workplace and what we want for the future. We have made the necessary changes. And today we are starting a new chapter.”

DeGeneres has apologized to her staff for the environment of the show. Employees reported accounts of sexual misconduct, racism and “culture of fear.”  This has resulted in many celebrities turning down the oppurtunity to be featured on the show. Although the show has featured big celebrities such as Justin Bieber and Jimmy Kimmel in the past, celebrities don’t want to be featured on a show with such negative backlash.

Ever since the show’s return to air, the once popular talk show is now struggling to stay on top. According to Buzzfeed, the show hasn’t been able to book A-List celebrities for appearances. The show has also lost advertisers as well as seeing a large dip in viewer ratings. Usually Decemeber is a busy time for The Ellen Show because of the “12 Days of Giveaways” segment that runs through the holiday season.

This year The Ellen Show planned to give the gifts to those impacted by coronavirus such as frontline workers and affected families. However, an employee has said this year’s gifts that will be given to the audience are much less extravagant than usual.

“In a typical year, ‘12 Days of Giveaways’ is huge. We’ve basically claimed Christmas on daytime TV. When you think of Christmas on TV, you think of The Ellen Show,” said the employee. “Everyone wants to be in the audience. Everyone wants the gifts. And so we line up all these crazy sponsors, and people love it. But this year, our ‘12 Days’ is more condensed. We don’t have as many sponsors.”

Although the show is postponed until January, DeGeneres has signed a contract that continues the talk show through 2022. While the show is struggling more than usual, executives have said the show isn’t going anywhere.

The Iconic Men’s Shoes You Will Want to Own Today

When it comes to shoes, there are some brands that have stood the test of time. Timberland, Nike, Converse and adidas all have iconic kicks that have been gracing our feet for decades.

Here, we give you a run down of the most iconic men’s shoes of all time, which are all still available today.

The Timberland Boots

The first Timberland boots were released in 1973, and they are still a bestseller today. As a boot fit for both work and play, it is the versatility of the Timberland that has kept them in the spotlight.

They are soft and made of quality materials. With a waterproof leather upper and lug rubber outsole, Timberland boots are not only stylish, but they’re also comfortable — and something every man should have in his collection. These boots do come in a few different colors, but the tan hue is at the top of our list. While Timberlands have always been iconic, hip hop artists such as Kanye West have taken them to the next level of cool.

The Nike Air Max Sneakers

When you own a pair of Nike Air Max kicks, they will be so much more than a typical pair of sneakers. First released in 1987, these retro shoes come in just about any color scheme you can imagine. Known for the cushioned base and that “window to the sole,” the brand wanted to show fans the air that was hidden inside. The idea to pump up the sole with air originally came from Frank Rudy, an aeronautical engineer who had experience with NASA.

Each season we see small changes to the Nike Air Max range, but they still have that ’80s bounce we all know and love.

The Converse Chuck Taylors

Another shoe that is rich in history is the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars. These basketball babes were first invented in 1917, but Chuck Taylor wasn’t completely satisfied with the design.

He asked for more support in 1922, and they have been an icon ever since. Converse shoes come in different cuts, but we really can’t go past the high tops. They can be worn with any outfit, and really do scream retro fashion. Whether it is black, white or red, it’s that star that will keep these legends popular well into the future.

The Adidas Originals Superstar

Another shoe that we have been coveting for 50 years is the Adidas Originals Superstar. Its rubber shell toe cap and flexibility made it a direct competitor against Converse in the basketball market.

Adidas is a pop culture favorite, and while the Superstar may have started as a basketball shoe, it now has its place on the street. The 80s’ hip hop scene helped propel this shoe into the spotlight, as Run DMC proudly wore the three stripes

An Iconic Shoe Is a Must-Have

Shoes aren’t just for working and running, they can be the finishing touch to your look. Some shoes are made to be worn for life, and a pair of Timberlands, Nike Airs, Adidas Originals or Converse Chuck Taylor’s have long-term appeal.

No matter what the season or the occasion, these iconic shoes will be there to make a statement. Plus, they are all made with comfort and support in mind.

Tate McRae – r u ok

Rising global singer/songwriter Tate McRae releases her latest track and music video for “r u ok” today via RCA Records (listen/watch here).  Co-written with Bryan Fryzel (Blackbear, Machine Gun Kelly) and Elizabeth Lowell Boland (Hailee Steinfield, Madison Beer), the ukulele driven track shows another side to Tate’s already impressive repertoire.

“‘r u ok’ is a song that I never thought I’d write,” says McRae.  “It has a very sassy and feisty tone, which made it a challenge to dive into that perspective – as I think I’m quite the opposite. I love that in this song there is a lot of emotional meaning behind the lyrics, with very trappy, bright and contrasting production at the same time.”

Tate’s current single, “you broke me first” continues to dominate all over the globe.  The track currently has over 500 million streams worldwide and helped Tate to secure her spot in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Emerging Artist Chart and on the Hot 100 Chart.  The track is currently Top 25 at Top 40 radio and Top 10 on Mediabase’s Dance Airplay Chart and continuing to rise.  Overseas, the track peaked at #3 in the UK and has been in the Top 10 on the chart for two months.  It’s also Top 25 on various singles charts in 12 countries. The track is platinum in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Singapore and Sweden and gold in the US, UK, Indonesia & Malaysia.

Mixing her vocal ability with her unparalleled dance moves, Tate performed the single on the MTV’s European Music Awards (watch here) as well as Jimmy Kimmel Live! in October (watch here) and the VMA Pre-show (watch here) in August.  She was also named to Forbes 30 Under 30 List for 2021 as the youngest musician on the list as well as Pandora’s Artists To Watch 2021 list and included on Billboard’s21 Under 21 One’s To Watch list.

Condé Nast Traveler – 2021 Gold List

Condé Nast Traveler today announced its 2021 Gold List. The annual list, curated by Traveler editors in New York and London, is the ultimate collection of our favorite hotels and cruise lines across the globe—those that exemplify the gold standard of service and hospitality, a designation that is even more meaningful after a year of interrupted travel.

For the first time in its history, this year’s Gold List went beyond places to stay, expanding to include a range of experiences—flights, restaurants, bars, and destinations—our editors consider truly exceptional. These are the places we daydreamed about in lockdown, and a few we were actually able to visit—all that sustained us in a year of curtailed travel.

“We wanted to take a more holistic and personal approach to what we define as Gold, just as we’re doing with travel across the board,” said Jesse Ashlock, U.S. Editor at Condé Nast Traveler. “These are the properties, destinations, and experiences we kept thinking about in a year when travel was so constrained. In some cases they represent the travel that was possible to us. We hope they inspire readers to plan their next adventures as the world opens up again.”

While the expected threshold of excellence continues with this year’s Gold List, the 2021 winners more broadly reflect how and why we travel. Highlights include grand dame hotels like the stately Hotel Astoria in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Hong Kong’s near-perfect Peninsula, but also the tiny five-room SingleThread in Sonoma, California, where a pilgrimage-worthy 11 course dinner is the real draw. We spotlight destinations that we can’t wait to revisit, bustling cities like Rome and restorative places like the Peruvian Andes. And we include the restaurants and bars that should be on every traveler’s map–legends like Keens Steakhouse in midtown Manhattan and under-the-radar standouts like South Africa’s Wolfgat. We rhapsodize about the lie-flat seats on Cathay Pacific and Delta’s always stellar customer service, and how we can’t stop thinking about the Thomas Keller-created menus on Seabourn and the excursion we took to a Sicilian winery while sailing with Oceania.

All winners of the 2021 Gold List are prominently featured on Condé Nast Traveler’s website and celebrated in the January/February issue on newsstands nationwide Dec. 22.

Carly Rose – Change My Mind

VIDEO OUT ON DECEMBER 16TH

“A rare instance of credibly modern pop… an impressive batch of songs teeming with hooks and personality.” Los Angeles Times

New York-raised, Los Angeles-based rising indie-pop songstress Carly Rose drops her provocative next single, Change My Mind. The upbeat alt-pop anthem balances the complexities of adolescence with a celebratory energy, reminding listeners that life is messy but fun. Click HERE to listen.

Carly added about the track, “Change My Mind is about when you make the hard realization that there are certain things about yourself that you just cannot seem to shake as hard as you might try. Nobody is perfect, and this song explores the most dysfunctional and destructive parts of who I am in the best way I know how–bitter sarcasm and self-deprecation.”

Change My Mind follows the release of Carly’s successful debut EP WILD, which was hailed as “empowering” and “a compelling EP with strong emotions and Lana Del Rey vibes,” and was featured on playlists such as Spotify’s New Music Friday and Fresh & Chill.

At just 13 years old, Carly rose to fame on the X Factor’s second season, placing 2nd on the show…the youngest finalist in the show’s history. With a recording contract at her fingertips, she chose to take a step back from the industry, not wanting to become the typical reality TV-manufactured instant pop star.

The years of incubation have paid off as Carly emerges as one of the most refreshing and fully formed young artists – wise beyond her years, with an unexpected soul in her voice that cuts right through an oversaturated insta-pop music industry. Writing all of her own songs, Carly offers commentary on weighty topics such as drug addiction and lost youth yet packages it in a way that is accessible to a wide range of listeners. Listen once and you might hear a fun song to jam to. Listen deeper and you could find yourself contemplating some of life’s most topical and challenging issues.
