Morgan Wallen – Dangerous: The Double Album

MORGAN WALLEN UNLEASHES TRIPLE THREAT PREVIEW OF DANGEROUS: THE DOUBLE ALBUM

HOTLY ANTICIPATED SOPHOMORE ALBUM PRE-ORDER LIVE NOW

Big Loud Records’ CMA New Artist of the Year Morgan Wallen barrels forward full speed ahead this week, launching the pre-order for his highly-anticipated sophomore album Dangerous: The Double Album and dropping a triple shot of brand-new music today.

The trio – “Somebody’s Problem” (writers: Wallen, Rodney Clawson, Jacob Durrett, Ernest Keith Smith), “Still Goin Down” (writers: Wallen, Michael Hardy, Ryan Vojtesak), and “Livin’ The Dream” (writers: Wallen, Ben Burgess, Jacob Durrett, Michael Hardy) – continues to crack open the broad range of Wallen’s 30-track double dip.

“Somebody’s Problem” is a twisty, deceptively sweet love song, where “Still Goin Down” adds to Wallen’s collection of signature, Tennessee-pride-riddled, hometown anthems, touting the lifestyle he knows from experience. “Livin’ The Dream” is Wallen’s most self-reflective slow burner to date, gripping from the start and brutally honest.

LISTEN TO “SOMEBODY’S PROBLEM,” “STILL GOIN DOWN,” AND “LIVIN’ THE DREAM

Following fan favorites “This Bar” and “Heartless,” and current singles “More Than My Hometown” and “7 Summers,” the Joey Moi-produced trifecta of new music builds on the sonic foundation laid by Wallen’s PLATINUM #1 debut album, If I Know Me, combining modern production styles with traditional Country lyricism and instrumentation, exuding “an authenticity fans can feel” (PEOPLE).

PRE-ORDER DANGEROUS: THE DOUBLE ALBUM HERE

This weekend, Wallen is nominated for two American Music Awards, Favorite Male Artist – Country and Favorite Album Country (If I Know Me), and performed an exclusive version of his verging #1 single “More Than My Hometown” for Xfinity in celebration of the big night.

Releasing January 8, Dangerous: The Double Album is already becoming one of 2021’s most exciting new releases, with Billboard anticipating, “if Wallen’s sophomore LP sounds like ‘More Than My Hometown,’ country music is likely going to have a new superstar.”

KEEP UP WITH MORGAN WALLEN

Holiday Jazz Albums Available in New Vinyl Set

FOUR TIMELESS HOLIDAY JAZZ TITLES BY ELLA FITZGERALD, KENNY BURRELL, RAMSEY LEWIS AND JIMMY SMITH BOXED UP FOR NEW VINYL SET, VERVE WISHES YOU A SWINGING CHRISTMAS

MOST ALBUMS REPRESSED FOR FIRST TIME IN MORE THAN 50 YEARS AVAILABLE NOW VIA VERVE/UMe

This holiday season, Verve Records/UMe is boxing up some of the most classic jazz holiday titles and wrapping them in a new vinyl box set titled Verve Wishes You a Swinging Christmas. This lavish collection brings together Ella Fitzgerald’s Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas (1960), Kenny Burrell’s Have Yourself a Soulful Little Christmas (1966), Ramsey Lewis’s Sound of Christmas (1961) and Jimmy Smith’s Christmas ‘64 (1964) (also known as Christmas Cookin’) for the first time. With the holidays just around the corner, it’s the perfect swinging, syncopated backdrop to get you in the Yuletide spirit and soundtrack your festivities.

Purchase Verve Wishes You a Swinging Christmas now: https://Verve.lnk.to/SwingingChristmas

Since the dawn of jazz, the genre’s innovators have pulled material from all corners of the Great American Songbook and beyond as springboards for improvisation — and the Christmas canon is no exception. On Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas, the First Lady of Song approaches Great American Christmas songs like “Jingle Bells,” “Sleigh Ride,” “The Christmas Song,” and “Frosty the Snowman” with vivacity and sophistication. Sixty Christmases after its release, the album’s timeless appeal has only grown over the years. In a retrospective review, All Musicproclaimed, “this is as good as jazz Christmas albums get,” and just last year, Rolling Stone ranked it No. 1 on their “40 Essential Christmas Albums” list, calling the set “superb” and praising Fitzgerald’s “exquisite phrasing and subtlety.” In celebration of the album’s 60th anniversary, “Frosty The Snowman” has received its first-ever official video, a charming animated video by Fantoons Animation Studio that features Ella and Frosty in a winter wonderland storybook setting. Watch here: https://youtu.be/Hmw4Fu4XupE

Verve Wishes You a Swinging Christmas includes a variety of jazz greats’ instrumental takes on the Christmas canon via three albums that haven’t seen a vinyl reissue since the ‘60s. On Have Yourself a Soulful Little Christmas, guitar master Kenny Burrell serves up soulful renditions from the carol book (“The Twelve Days of Christmas,” “Away in a Manger”), down the church aisle (“Mary’s Little Boy Chile,” “Children Go Where I Send Thee”) and the R&B wheelhouse (“Merry Christmas, Baby”). JazzTimes declares it “was and is a landmark album” while All Music admires Burrell’s “pensive, meditative, precise playing” and calls it “a must-have.”

The box cranks the fun up a notch with Sound of Christmas by the Ramsey Lewis Trio, which features bassist Eldee Young, drummer Isaac “Red” Holt, and string arranger Riley Hampton. By swerving around any potential treacle and keeping things light at a mere 29 minutes, Lewis and his colleagues ensured Sound of Christmas was a highly accessible slice of holiday cheer. “Lewis avoids the overly reverent… in favor of songs he can tear through with the brisk gait of a sleigh ride and the delight of a full stocking,” All About Jazz mused.“[H]is sensitivity to the tastes of the public served him well here.”

Rounding out the collection is a yuletide offering from Jimmy Smith, the master of the Hammond B-3 organ. On Christmas ‘64, which was known for decades as Christmas Cookin’ after being reissued in 1966 with the alternate cover and title, Smith offers up a mix of secular Christmas songs and traditional carols backed by a big band and several trios. He makes a heel-turn from dignified orchestral overtures, like on “We Three Kings (of Orient Are),” injecting the proceedings with funky, down-home energy to get bodies moving this December. “It’s hard to believe that ‘Silent Night’ could ever swing as much as it does here,” All About Jazz noted. But all you have to do is drop the needle on these bluesy interpretations to believe Christmas could be so danceable. For the first time in more than five decades, the LP will be released with its original cover and title.

Why wait until the Christmas shopping rush to secure your vintage sounds? Verve Wishes You a Swinging Christmas offers four titles in their original packaging, all beamed from jazz’s past to warm up your holiday season in the present.

RITT MOMNEY – PUT YOUR RECORDS ON

By Cassandra Yany

Ritt Momney released the music video for his version of Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records On” Thursday. In the video produced by Overcast and directed by Daniel Jordan K, a young boy’s daydream is brought to life and he sees himself as a future pop star in a psychedelic dreamscape.

The audience sees the pop star in a field filled with colorful roses underneath a pastel sky. This scene then starts to morph back into reality as the tone of the song changes. The serene, yet exciting vibe of the visuals perfectly encapsulates the feel-good mood of the track.

The cover first gained popularity as part of a TikTok trend where creators would put random swatches of makeup on their face and then jump to a clip where they have designed a full look using those colors. Social media influencer Ian Roley was invited on set as a makeup influencer to recreate the trend’s butterfly look for the music video.

“In 2006, Corinne Bailey Rae released one of the greatest pop songs of all time with ‘Put Your Records On,’” said Momney. “It was one of my mom’s favorites. She’d blast it in the minivan on the way to soccer practice and we’d all sing.”

“Fast forward to March 2020 when I got the idea to do a fun little cover of this song I’ve loved my whole life to combat some of the dreariness I was feeling. With this being my first real music video, I was really lucky to work with a bunch of professionals who were also around my age. They did a really good job capturing the essence of the cover, and I’m stoked that I got to work with Ian, the makeup artist who started the TikTok trend.”

Momney plans to donate a portion of the music video’s proceeds to a charity of Rae’s choosing. His rework of the song has become the 21-year-old’s breakout hit of the year. It has earned him over 120 million global streams to date with over two million TikTok videos made with the sound. This also marks Momney’s first Billboard Hot 100 entry, currently holding the no. 82 spot, and his Pop radio debut, charting at no. 39 less than two weeks after its impact.

The song topped Spotify’s US and Global Viral 50 charts in September and currently holds the no. 17 and no. 23 spots on the Us and Global Top 50, respectively.

About Ritt Momney

Ritt Momney is the solo project of Salt Lake City native Jack Rutter. The project first began as an indie rock band with his high school friends, but later became a personal outlet for the 21-year-old after his bandmates left for Mormon missions and his girlfriend went to college. He began writing, recording and producing his upcoming debut album in his bedroom. In the LP, titled “Her and All of My friends,” Rutter struggles with loss, loneliness and a drift away from Mormon culture.

8 Best Barefoot Shoes for Kids for Exploring the Outdoors

When it comes to the right footwear for kids, there are a lot of differing opinions on the same topic, but for children learning to take their first steps or learning to walk, most doctors and experts agree that barefoot is the best option. It helps them grow strong muscles in a natural and healthy way as well as aiding in developing the correct posture. But this is valid as long as they are indoors. As soon as they step outside and start exploring things, it takes a different turn. Indoors everything has been made baby-proof, and they are in the protective bubble of the parent’s outdoors are entirely different; it is almost as if everything is out to harm your precious little child.

What should you look for when you want to order kids’ slides?

As one dives into the world of shoes for children, there are plenty of things one may decide to look for as you buy kids slides. The shoe should have a wide toe area, you should start by looking for shoes that fit naturally into the feet, and you do not have to struggle to match the shoes. A pair that has enough room for the toes to wiggle around freely should be a perfect choice as the additional room means that your child is comfortable even if he/she is not able to convey the discomfort easily.

The responsibility of choosing the right shoes for the children falls on the shoulders of the parents, to dig out something worthy of the heavenly feet of the child. Here’s a list of what just might make it through your stringent scrutinization.

1.     Merrell bare steps toddler shoes.

2.     Be lenka play kids barefoot shoes.

3.     Freedom Moses kids’ shoes – they come with a minimum 20% discount during the 2020 Black Friday.

4.     Vivo barefoot kids’ shoes – these come with an easy slip-on design, which is made of durable puncture-resistant material.

5.     Wildling kids’ shoes- featuring a lightweight design that makes it easy to use at different places, it is a weatherproof shoe that guarantees comfort without the expense of safety.

6.      Mukishoes- the minimalistic design is the main reason these shoes are so sought after. Made using materials that are put through the test of trade and time so that your child experiences nothing less than what you promise them.

7.      Xero Prio kids shoes- the thin sole makes for one of the most flexible shoes your child will ever slip on their feet. The breathable material gives it the desired shape and provides style with comfort.

8.      Nike toddler shoes- these shoes have the right amount of cushioning for your toddler to get the appropriate ground feel while also maintaining grip and safety. The lightweight shoes make sure that your child is always giggling as they are exploring nature and their surroundings.

Conclusion.

Kids should be able to enjoy their footwear each and every time they slip a pair on, and it becomes one to the parents to make this comfort available to their children. The shoes should have soles that are thin enough to provide flexibility and movement without compromising protection.

Promotional Photos for Noorullah Line for 360 Magazine

Noorullah

By Hannah DiPilato

With a line that unites sustainability and style, Noorullah is a brand to watch. The timeless collection features unique and versatile pieces that appeal to everyone.

Recently, we caught up with designer Noorullah Amiri who explained what makes the line different from the rest of current-day high fashion.

Where did you pull inspiration from for this line?

I pulled inspiration from the Ancient Egyptian wardrobe, which is a white linen fabric that has drape. Linen fibers create a very functional fabric that is breathable and good for temperatures all year round. For the pajama styles, I took inspiration from Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s stained glass window in the St. Peter’s Basilica from 1660. It was fitting to use that print for the pajamas, which you can lounge and meditate in.

The tracksuit is inspired by Ancient Greek Olympians, who would participate in the Olympic events. The idea was to create a comfortable and functional tracksuit also for lounging or exercising in cold weather. I also made use of genuine snake leather for small leather goods in relation to Ancient Greek biblical artworks: “Adam and Eve” and “Laocoon and His Sons”.  And also, lamb leather in relation to “The Sacrifice of Issac”.

What made you want to create sustainable fashion?

In the fashion industry, 85% of textiles go to the dumb each year and bits of fibers from the washing machine pollute the ocean. Producing new clothes causes pollution and there is post-consumption pollution as well. The best way to be sustainable is to close the loop in the fashion cycle and use only recycled textiles for making new fibers and materials.

It is our duty to take care of the planet for a better quality of life. And the fashion industry needs to be more sustainable to preserve the ecosystem. Our approach currently, is to focus on style and quality to create sustainable products. Style determines how long products will remain relevant and desirable, while quality determines how long the design will hold up during its use. We fully commit to our highly detailed designs with confidence so that they can be everlasting in terms of style and durability.

Have you had any community involvement relating to your company’s purpose?

Last year in San Francisco, on Earth Day, I went to a fair to gain and spread knowledge about sustainability, and also planted redwood tree sprouts that can grow up to 300 feet.

Where do you hope to see your designs in the future?

I hope to keep the designs exclusive and desirable so they can be enjoyed for a long time. We would like to have a strong global online presence with boutiques in strategic locations.

It is a dream to be able to provide people an experience from our world when shopping inside a brick-and-mortar location. I have a passion for storytelling through visual merchandising. In addition, I hope to have a limited wholesale partnership with a luxury department store.

What is your personal favorite piece from the collection and what makes this your favorite?

If I have one pick, I am going with the Wool Overcoat because it is comfortable and warm. I can wear almost anything underneath and still maintain a modern look. Also, similar to all of the garments from the collection, I created each pattern piece custom for your body. And I like that it has 4 deep pockets for holding valuables.

What would you say is the one thing that makes you stand out against other designers?

I would say it is my confidence because my design process is functional yet artistic, producing something with its own identity. I can pull inspiration from nature, for example, to create something that is unique in design having function and playing with silhouettes or other design elements.

When did you begin designing and how did you get started?

I began designing vector artwork using Adobe illustrator in 2011. I was working on a streetwear brand with t-shirts and fleece before designing window displays and private label brands for assignments in college.

I got started with the Noorullah brand by gathering inspiration and having an end-use in mind for the products. The end-use is when the garments will be worn, where, and by who. Getting an understanding of end-use is what enabled me to get started with bringing the inspirations to life.

Why do some pieces have only limited numbers available? Is this something you plan to change or continue doing in the future?

Everything from the collection is very limited because there are so many ideas to play with for new designs. The collection is truly exclusive and there will be a fresh collection to build from the previous one. In the future, as we expand our business, we will continue to keep the merchandise exclusive in proportion to consumer demands.

What is your process of designing sustainable products to ensure they’re functional and stylish?

To have a sustainable design we begin with the yarns that make up the fabric. To have durable fabrics we select the ones made from long filament yarns which are more durable, produce less fiber waste in the washing machine, and even have a better hand. We pay attention to construction details to make products functional, comfortable, and permanent. This way the products fulfill their intended uses while providing comfort and not becoming damaged. Along with durable materials and construction, we produce designs everlasting in terms of style.

How would you summarize the goal of the line in one sentence?

To give the wearer a high sense of confidence with luxury only for them to know.

Do you believe other brands should move away from fast fashion and create more sustainable clothing?

Yes, absolutely. The biggest way to impact the planet through sustainability in the fashion industry is to not produce any more clothes, but even that will not undo the existing pollution that has already been set in motion many years ago. And since we must continue producing products, it is best to be as ethical as possible.

Although the demand for fast fashion is high because some styles are trendy and affordable, the price that the planet pays is too great. Because fast fashion produces fads, where clothing goes out of style rapidly and they are made poorly to save pennies in productions.

What advice would you give to other designers about becoming more sustainable?

To source only recycled materials, and produce clothing that is classic and high quality.

French Multi-Instrumentalist Orava Releases His Stunning Debut Album, ‘Behind The Wave’

Orava – the French-born, London-based multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer – has just released a stunning debut album, ‘Behind The Wave.’ A graduate of the Musician Institute of London, Orava draws inspiration from French touch, classic electronic, DnB, and traditional rock, blending analog with digital, homemade recordings with elaborate production, and vintage instruments with synthetic textures.

We last heard from Orava upon the release of his captivating music video for “Going Backwards,” which was shot on a beach in southwest France. Opening with an ambient grand-piano and melancholic vocal melody, “Going Backwards” deals with the impact of time on people’s personal growth and “the wish to go back in time to make better choices,” Orava explains. The reverse sequence music video features a mysterious figure emerging from the ocean and slowly walking backwards to the top of a dune, and the powerful connection between the video and the song offers viewers a shortcut in understanding the deeper meaning behind Orava’s lyrics.

Born Axel Gerard and crafting his music between England and his native France since 2018, Orava is named after a stream in north-western Slovakia that roughly translates as “roaring river.” Inspired by artists like Daft Punk, Phoenix, and Depeche Mode, Orava’s compositions tackle the common hopes, doubts and fears of his generation, drawing mostly from his own experiences. Written, composed and produced entirely by the artist, “Going Backwards” follows the release of his previous singles “Behind The Wave,” “The Rest is Noise,” and “Now I Know.”

Check out ‘Behind The Wave’ wherever you get your music, and be sure to keep an eye on this promising new artist. We’re sure we’ll be hearing a lot more from Orava over the next few years.

The Go-Go’s Documentary Released

2020 CRITICS CHOICE DOCUMENTARY AWARD WINNER ‘THE GO-GO’S’ TO BE RELEASED ON DVD, BLU-RAY, AND DIGITAL FORMATS

“Club Zero” Official Video Premieres With A Charlotte Caffey, Kathy Valentine & Jane Wiedlin Live Chat On YouTube

“Anyone who still thinks The Go-Go’s are just a footnote in ‘80s music history lessons will come away properly schooled.” – ROLLING STONE

“A treasure trove of archival footage that thoroughly excavates the group’s early punk bona fides.” – NEW YORK TIMES

“A laudably forthright, well-researched and perceptive testament to the power of pop music.” – NPR

“They created their own space in a male-dominated corner of the music world – in their case, the rough-and-ready LA punk scene, where they formed in 1978 – and transcended it with a mix of sisterhood, spirit and irrepressible pop songs.” – BBC

Multi-platinum Los Angeles rock band The Go-Go’s, featuring Charlotte Caffey, Belinda Carlisle, Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine and Jane Wiedlin, will see the release of their universally acclaimed, 2020 Critics Choice Award-winning documentary THE GO-GOs on DVD and Blu-ray formats (Polygram/UMe) and through digital download & rental services (Eagle Rock Entertainment) on February 5, 2021. The Alison Ellwood-directed THE GO-GO’S documentary, which first premiered at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, aired over the summer on Showtime to rave reviews, achieved a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and won a 2020 Critics Choice Award for “Best Music Documentary” in addition to receiving the honor of “Most Compelling Living Subjects in a Documentary.”

The candid and archive-rich documentary assesses the group’s place in music history and offers full access to The Go-Go’s, including past members as well as longtime members of their inner circle. With their roots in the L.A. punk scene, they were bad girls and genuine punk rockers, and this serious appraisal of their story is the first to set the record straight about their historical ascent to global stardom.  A major highlight of the film focuses on their collaborative efforts in writing a new song, the female empowerment anthem “Club Zero,” which became the first Go-Go’s single in nearly 20 years and hit the Top 10 on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart.

Today, Nov. 20th at 3:00PM PT, Charlotte Caffey, Kathy Valentine & Jane Wiedlin chat live with fans & premiere the song’s official video at 3:15PM PT (which includes footage from the documentary of their performance at L.A.’s legendary Whisky a Go-Go interspersed with other live clips) on The Go-Go’s Official YouTube Channel here.

OUT CELEBRATES ANNUAL OUT100 ISSUE

Pride Media’s Out magazine is thrilled to release the 2020 Out100 presented by Lexus. The list remains the largest annual portfolio recognizing members of the LGBTQ+ for their ground-breaking, ripple-inducing, and culture-shifting impact nationwide.

The coveted and anticipated Out100 issue features four covers including trailblazing actor Wilson Cruz, activist and BLM organizer Janaya Khan,  actor and director Joe Mantello, and artist and icon Janelle Monáe.

This year’s honorees make up one of the most diverse lists in Out magazine’s history, spanning several generations and a multitude of intersections. From 18-year-old rap sensation Kidd Kenn and 99-year old trans WWII U.S. Navy fighter pilot Robina Asti to MSNBC journalist Rachel Maddow, who in a year of political tension was a voice of reason for the LGBTQ+ community.

From fashion legend André Leon Talley, headlining musician Lizzo, comedian Wanda Sykes, actors Jeremy Pope and Cheyenne Jackson to modeling industry heavyweight Ivan Bart, the creators of Queer Eye, and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s very queer team Jamal Brown, Reggie Greer, and Karine Jean-Pierre, inclusivity and progress are the driving force behind this year’s list.

Each honoree represents not just the past but also the future. Leading into 2021, the LGBTQ+ community as a whole will undoubtedly reap the benefits of their accomplishments. This year might have brought an onslaught of challenges, but it also welcomed new opportunities to reflect on what matters to the LGBTQ+ community and what lies ahead in the fight for equality and justice.

Now more than ever, it’s vital to recognize the powerful voices leading the charge and sounding off the new vanguard of queer leaders. In a year of Pride celebrated at home instead of in the streets, community support from company partners like Lexus, Citi, Gilead, McDonald’s USA, Truly Hard Seltzer, and Stoli® Group USA, LLC has never been more important or helpful in amplifying these powerful Out100 voices moving the LGBTQ+ community forward.

“Community building has been the bedrock of the LGBTQ+ rights movement, and part of that is understanding the fact that we are not and have never been monolithic. All of us have a story and role to play in this fight. All of our experiences and lived realities are different, special, and integral in building a better world — together,” said Editor in Chief of Out, David Artavia.

“The Out100 list is a representation of this journey. For 26 years, it has stood the test of time and continues to empower the next generation of LGBTQ+ thought leaders, artists, and professionals to create a more inclusive future for all of us,” continued Artavia.

This year, Out’s nationally recognized and respected Out100 issue extends beyond the brand’s print and online properties with two exciting virtual events. On Friday, November 20, the co-founder of Black Lives Matter Canada, Janaya Khan, will moderate a dynamic “How Do We Come Back From This?” symposium on what moving out of the last four years looks like for culture, politics, the movement, and ourselves, including Emmy-winning creator of Transparent Joey Soloway, trans activist Ashlee Marie Preston, and PR strategist Kelly Bush Novak.

On Saturday, November 21, the Out100 culminates in the first-ever 2020 Out100 Virtual Honoree Induction Ceremony, live at 5 p.m. Pacific (8 p.m. Eastern) at Out.com/Out100Live, and available on all Revry live channels and on-demand at 6 p.m. Pacific (9 p.m. Eastern) at watch.revry.tv.

Our house was filled to the brim with decorations, tinsel, ornaments, bows, the smell of food, and of course, the Christmas songs my dad had recorded,” remarked Timolin Cole, twin-daughter of Nat King Cole. “We would all sit around the piano and sing along with him or sit in the living room and listen to him sing and play. These are the magical moments I remember with such fondness. Those songs of my dad still fill my house now,” adds Casey Cole, twin-daughter of Nat King Cole.

A few of Cole’s classic hits include: “L-O-V-E,” “Mona Lisa,” “Unforgettable,” “Straighten Up and Fly Right,” “Nature Boy” and the holiday staple, “The Christmas Song.” Nat King Cole’s story continues to grow as each new generation discovers his music, as well as his trailblazing, catalytic role in several important cultural and sociopolitical advancements, including the U.S. civil rights movement. The arc of Cole’s life is a study in success despite adversity, and the triumph of civility, respect, and talent married with political, cultural, and business savvy.

Nat King Cole’s twin daughters Timolin and Casey Cole, work to honor their father’s legacy and his music. They established the Nat King Cole Generation Hope in 2008 to build sustainable music programs for schools across the United States. Following his path of grace and tenacity, they raise funds and help enact change.

About NAT KING COLE

Born March 17, 1919 in Montgomery, Alabama, the masterful pianist and vocalist’s initial focus was the jazz idiom, having formed the Nat King Cole Trio while in his 20s. The group was an almost immediate sensation and proved influential to the extent that no less an authority than Count Basie marveled, “Those cats used to read each other’s mind — it was unbelievable.” Ray Charles inducted Cole into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and readily admitted to Cole’s monumental influence on him.

Cole was signed to Capitol Records in 1943 and The King Cole Trio, his initial album released in 1945 at the dawn of the LP format, topped Billboard‘s inaugural album chart. He went on to record nearly 700 songs for Capitol, including 150 singles that charted on Billboard‘s Pop, R&B and/or Country charts. That phenomenal success led to Capitol’s iconic round building on Vine Street in Hollywood to be informally known as “The House That Nat Built.”

Along with his trailblazing musical career, Cole is recognized for his contributions to the struggle for civil rights and racial equality. His efforts were done in his own unique style. In 1946, Cole broadcast a 15-minute national radio program, “King Cole Trio Time,” the first of its kind to be hosted by an African American musician. In 1956, he also became the first major African American entertainer to host his own national network TV show. NBC’s “Nat King Cole Show” aired weekly from November 1956 to December 1957, the cancelation of which was caused by a paucity of sponsors since marketers were afraid to offend white viewers with a program hosted by an African American. Cole also appeared in several films, including his top-billed portrayal of W.C. Handy in 1958’s St. Louis Blues and his final big-screen star turn as Shouter / Sunrise Kid in 1965’s Cat Ballou.

In 1948, Cole purchased a house for his family in the all-white Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The Ku Klux Klan burned a cross on the family’s front lawn, and members of the neighborhood’s property owners association told Cole they did not want any “undesirables” moving into the neighborhood. Cole responded, “Neither do I. And if I see anybody undesirable coming in here, I’ll be the first to complain.” He helped overturn the 1920s Los Angeles statute that had kept the neighborhood segregated. The KKK targeted Cole and struck again in 1956 when Klansmen rushed the stage and beat Cole at a concert performance in Birmingham, Alabama. He would never perform in the south again.

In 1959, Cole won the GRAMMY Award for Best Performance by a “Top 40” Artist for “Midnight Flyer.” In 1963, he was honored with a Special Achievement Award from the Golden Globes.

Cole’s final album, L-O-V-E, was recorded in December 1964 and released in January 1965, just before his untimely death on February 15 at the age of 45. The album reached No. 4 on the Billboard albums chart. At the time, it was reported that Capitol Records had sold more than nine million Nat King Cole records. From “Mona Lisa” to “Unforgettable,”

In 1990, Cole was posthumously awarded the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award. He has four recordings in the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame: “The Christmas Song” (1946), “Nature Boy” (1948), “Mona Lisa” (1950), and “Unforgettable” (1951). Cole’s 1944 hit, “Straighten Up And Fly Right,” and the Jazz at the Philharmonic album series in which he is a featured artist have been selected for preservation by the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry, which honors “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” American recordings.

In 1991, Cole’s daughter Natalie Cole released Unforgettable: With Love, featuring her virtual duet of “Unforgettable” with her father. The album topped charts around the world and won the coveted Album Of The Year GRAMMY Award. Just three years thereafter, the U.S. Postal Service issued a Nat King Cole commemorative stamp in its “Legends of American Music” series. In 2000, Nat King Cole was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

THE MANDALORIAN SEASON 2, VOLUME 2 (CHAPTERS 13-16) AVAILABLE ON DECEMBER 18

Walt Disney Records releases the digital soundtrack from Season 2 of “The Mandalorian,” Lucasfilm’s multiple Emmy®-winning live-action series, streaming exclusively on Disney+. The Mandalorian Season 2, Volume 1 (Chapters 9-12) digital album features score by Oscar®, Grammy® and Emmy® winning composer Ludwig Göransson (Tenet, Black Panther) and is available HERE. The release will be followed by The Mandalorian Season 2, Volume 2 (Chapters 13-16) digital album available on December 18.

Earlier this year, Göransson won his first Emmy for “The Mandalorian” “Chapter 8: Redemption” in the Outstanding Music Composition For A Series (Original Dramatic Score) category.  For the first season of “The Mandalorian,” Göransson released eight full-length albums, one album per episode, with recurring themes throughout the season. This season, he will release the soundtrack in two volumes containing new musical themes, sounds and ideas.

The score and character themes feature instruments played by Göransson including the bass recorder, woodwinds, drums, guitars, piano and percussion. The organic elements from those instruments are then infused with tech sounds and a cinematic orchestra.

About Ludwig Göransson

In a career spanning only 12 years, Ludwig Göransson has amassed an impressive resume in both the recording and motion picture industries, earning an Academy Award, an Emmy Award, multiple Grammy Awards and countless other nominations. After working as an assistant to composer Theodore Shapiro, Göransson got his first big break writing music for the NBC television series, Community. This led to a friendship and collaboration with Donald Glover, who performs under the stage name Childish Gambino, on several studio albums including Because the Internet and Awaken, My Love. Göransson has been nominated for six Grammys with Childish Gambino, and won two in 2019 for the Billboard Hot 100 Number One hit song “This Is America,” which became a cultural phenomenon and garnered world-wide acclaim.

While pursuing his masters degree in film scoring at USC, Göransson met his other longtime collaborator, director Ryan Coogler, when he scored his short film, Locks. Over the next nine years, Göransson would score all three of Coogler’s feature films. Much like iconic filmmaking duos Hitchcock and Herrmann or Spielberg and Williams, Coogler’s diverse filmography has allowed Göransson to show his range as a composer, writing understated melodies for Fruitvale Station, hyping up audiences for Creed, and infusing African percussion into his themes for Black Panther.

Göransson has accumulated success in a variety of other films including the box office smash Venom andPixar’s Inner Workings. In 2019, Göransson earned multiple awards and nominations for his score for Black Panther including a Golden Globe nomination, a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack, and an Academy Award for Best Original Score. He won two Grammy Awards for his song “This is America”, which he co-wrote and co-produced with frequent collaborator Childish Gambino.

Most recently, Göransson completed the score for Season 2 of The Mandalorian, LucasFilm’s first Star Wars live-action series helmed by director Jon Favreau, streaming exclusively on Disney+.  In September 2020, he won his first Emmy Award for his work on the series. Göransson also composed the music for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, which premiered late summer 2020. In addition, he co-wrote and co-produced the songs for DreamWorks’ Trolls World Tour with Justin Timberlake, which exceeded expectations with its history-making digital release in April 2020, racking up nearly $100 million in sales in just three weeks.
