7 Steps to Vinyl Wrap Your Car

Vinyl wrapping your car is a great way to change its look. And there couldn’t be anything better than a new look for your car that is inexpensive, personalized and done at home.

Yes, you read it right. You can vinyl wrap your car at home – with the utmost perfection and a professional finish. There won’t be any trapped air bubbles when you’re finished.

The modern (and still cheap) vinyl-adhesive technology doesn’t get to the sticky state until after 24 hours after its application. This means you will have ample time to trace out the air bubbles. The special type of stretchy vinyl used for decorating cars, can be comfortably molded around curves for super smooth finish. And once you top with a coat of factory laminate, your vinyl finish will stay put for a decade!

Excited for a car makeover? Then, get ready.

Get your gear sorted and head on for this thoroughly satisfying DIY project. Here’s all that you’ll need:

  • Degreaser
  • Isopropyl alcohol or other cleaning solution
  • Measuring tape
  • Cutting knife and tools
  • Squeegee
  • Heat Gun
  • Gloves
  • Vinyl wrap of your choice

How to Vinyl Wrap your Car in 7 Easy Steps

  1. Prep the Car

Before you start the vinyl wrapping process, you’d need to clear off the bumpers, handles, molding and trims. Also remove the mirrors, because getting the wrap around the mirrors and moldings will take a lot of time and unnecessary effort.

Be careful while removing and re-fixing the parts. If you accidently damage anything, you can look up for a replacement at a Tucson auto body shop.

  1. Select the vinyl

You can find a huge variety of vinyl sheets at stores, usually in the size of 25 feet by 60 feet. This area is sufficient for covering the car body. Ordinarily, the material would cost you somewhere around $2500. But the rates may vary depending on the designs and vendor. Make sure you select the right vinylfor your car.

  1. Treat the car surface

This step lays the foundation for the entire project. You need to thoroughly wipe the surface of the car with a degreaser and cleaning solution. If there is any polish, wax or dirt on the surface, the vinyl won’t stick properly. Also consider getting some touch-up done on the body if there are chips and scratches, because once you lay on the vinyl these imperfections would become all the more glaring.

  1. Measure it out

You will need to cut out the vinyl in size for the different areas of the car surface. Measure each part one by one being careful you have the right measurements on hand. Always cut out 4-6 inches extra from the material to be on the safe side. You can always trim off the extras later.

  1. Apply the vinyl

Now comes the fun part. Once you’ve double checked that the surface is sparkly clean, you can peel off the backing from the vinyl and apply it on the surface. Start from the centre and work outwards gradually. You should start from the smaller parts first and get a hang of laying out the vinyl. Make sure to smooth out any air bubbles using the squeegee and heat gun.

  1. Make adjustments

Make straight cuts with a cutting knife and trim out the edges. But don’t go too deep or you would scratch out the paint. Once you have trimmed, reapply the edges and make it secure. If there are any seams visible, you can use pinstripes to cover them up.

  1. Apply heat and let it set

Now that the vinyl is all neatly laid out, you can apply the heat gun and make it secure. In case the vinyl comes off instead of drawing in to the car surface, you will have to reapply it.

Once it’s all done, take a step back and admire the beauty you just created!

The whole process can take you anywhere from 6-8 hours or even more. Take it slow and be as precise as you can. You can also divide the task into shifts and complete it over a couple of days.

How Marijuana is Becoming More Popular in Pop Culture

Cannabis in pop culture isn’t exactly a new concept. You’ve probably heard plenty of songs and seen a variety of movies where people talk about weed. However, the influence of this substance on pop culture might be bigger than you’d think. It turns out that almost half of all the US hip-hop and R&B songs in the industry have some mention of cannabis. Historically, people have largely referenced marijuana in the same vein, connecting it to lazy stereotypical stoner types. This concept is something that many people appreciated several years ago, but it’s quickly becoming outdated in a world where scientific research is beginning to demonstrate the potential of this natural substance for medical purposes. As the benefits of marijuana continue to be researched and proven, people seeking a natural healing process have obtained a medical marijuana card in order to get relief from pain, anxiety, and depression. Things are beginning to turn a corner in the pop culture landscape, but it’s a slow process, and we have a long way to go.

The Changing Presence of Cannabis in Culture

Say the word marijuana to most people and they’ll think of old-fashioned stoner portrayals that represent anyone who uses this drug as lazy and under-educated. Over the years, the way that we view this product has been mostly negative, thanks to the way that television and movie producers used the drug to represent a very specific kind of character. Today, studies indicate that pop culture is referencing weed more than ever before, but the general attitude to it might be changing.

We’re beginning to see the substance from a new perspective on the television and movie screens, because the attitude of the public is changing. These days, it’s becoming much more acceptable for people to use natural products like marijuana for the treatment of various conditions. You can get your Nevada medical marijuana card in a matter of minutes online from NuggMD, with a quick and easy process that only bills you on approval. It’s part of everyday life for a lot of individuals. As laws around the drug continue to change, so too do the opinions of the people who view this product as a pop culture icon.

Taking on a New Light

Scientific study and access to more data about the benefits that the right strain of certain substances can have on particular diseases is leading to a more educated community. We know today that there’s more to this plant than we originally thought, and many experts believe that it could be the key to managing some very serious and life-changing conditions. The people who use marijuana today aren’t just college kids looking to pass time or get high between classes.

Although there are still many states that offer the product recreationally, it also has much more important benefits that are worth considering too. Not only is cannabis a great medicine, but it can also be a product that helps to relieve anxiety and reduce inflammation. People are even discovering new ways to experiment with the product in the form of CBD oils and various edibles. The landscape is beginning to evolve, and soon, the demand for a new view of weed in pop culture will be greater than ever.

Carly Rae Jepsen – It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries

Listen to “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries” HERE

Pop dynamo Carly Rae Jepsen is bringing some much-needed Yuletide cheer a little early with her cheeky new song “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries,” out today on 604/Schoolboy/Interscope Records. The snappy, synthy jingle—which grapples with vegan boyfriends, political uncles, and grandpas on edibles—sees the Grammy-nominated star doing what she does best: finding the joy in every situation, even when tears are falling. “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries” is available now at all digital retailers.

Crafted with acclaimed songwriters and producers Benjamin Romans, CJ Baran, and James Flannigan, the disco-pop merriment of “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries” was a chance for Jepsen to embrace the good, the bad, and the ugly of her favorite time of the year. “I love the old fashioned movies and the family traditions and the excitement of gifting presents and decorating the tree and and and… my list is endless,” she says. “But each year the pressure to have the perfect Christmas always ends in tears. I call it Christmas versus expectation.”

“Christmas holiday is my favorite time of year. I love it,” says Jepsen.  “But so often emotions run high and expectation versus reality is something I’d like to shed some light on and hopefully some laughs too in the process. So if you are lucky enough to get to be with the ones that matter most to you this year- embrace it! And if things go south just remember, “the secret is to sing a little song to survive… that it’s not Christmas till somebody cries!”.

This is the Canadian artist’s second gift to fans this year. In May, she released Dedicated Side B, a sleek set of dance-pop pleasures filled with all the unbridled optimism Jepsen first displayed on her 2012 debut album Kiss. The album is a companion piece to 2019’s Dedicated, which features the buoyant singles “Party for One,” “Now That I Found You,” and the Jack Antonoff-produced “Want You in My Room”—all of which were named among the top songs of the year by outlets including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Stereogum, and Pitchfork.

Carly Rae Jepsen’s pristine, prismatic pop has long been the blissful soundtrack for first kisses and swirling romances, but the multi-platinum Grammy, Juno and Polaris Prize nominated Canadian star’s knack for distilling a sea of emotions into brilliant songcraft has wooed critics as deeply as fans. The singer, songwriter, and actress first burst onto the international scene in 2012 with the sly and sublime “Call Me Maybe.” That blockbuster hit from her breakthrough album, Kiss, topped charts in over 47 countries, sold over 20 million singles, and was certified Diamond in the U.S. It also earned her two Grammy nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year. Since then, she’s amassed even more acclaim across the music spectrum. On her 2015 synth-pop stunner E*MO*TION, Jepsen collaborated with Sia, Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes, and Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend), expanding her sonic palette with shimmery synths and euphoric dance beats that channel the sugary rush of new flirtations. Noisey declared it the pop album of the year, while the beaming single “I Really Like You” went platinum. Her 2019 follow-up, Dedicated, covered even more musical and emotional ground, as our most hopeful romantic continued to chase her bliss through a breakup. The Atlantic called the album “brilliant” with its “godlike bops.” Jepsen returned again in May 2020 with a gift for her fans: Dedicated Side B, a buoyant set of dance-floor candy that affirmed her status as pop’s undefeatable ambassador of love.

It’s Raining Men – A Promising Young Woman Edition

DeathbyRomy’s take on “It’s Raining Men” – the iconic No. 1 dance anthem originally released by The Weather Girls in 1982 – is out today. Listen HERE. Paul Jabara and Paul Shaffer wrote the song, which was nominated for a  GRAMMY®. “It’s Raining Men” is one of two songs that DeathbyRomy recorded exclusively for the Promising Young Woman: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Variety has already predicted an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for “Come and Play with Me,” the Los Angeles-based artist’s other contribution to the soundtrack. Twenty-year-old singer/songwriter DeathbyRomy pours both pain and euphoria into her catchy yet dark music, pitting electronic melodies and propulsive beats against hypnotic vocals and deeply personal lyrics. She made her Capitol Records debut last fall with the EP Love u – to Death.

Focus Features will release the Sundance hit Promising Young Woman on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2020 in theaters domestically. IndieWire noted, “The film is filled with inspired soundtrack choices – a strings-heavy take on Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ teases before it reveals itself at the perfect moment, and an amusing use of an ‘It’s Raining Men’ cover sells Fennell’s pitch-black sense of humor early on.” Idolator said, “As for the soundtrack, there’s so much to love.”

Those who pre-order the 18-track collection in digital format will instantly receive “It’s Raining Men” plus Donna Missal’s interpretation of Cigarettes After Sex’s 2012 breakthrough single,  “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby,” and Cyn’s “Drinks.”

Cyn’s original song “Drinks” has amassed over 20 million global streams. Billie Eilish added it to her Apple Music radio show, “me & dad radio.” Naming “Drinks” a “Song You Need To Know,” Rolling Stone hailed it as “insanely catchy.” The Mixed Drinks Collection” features the stripped version of “Drinks” and remixes from quartet of renowned producers, all female – MNDR, NERVO, Uffie, and Ladyhawke. uDiscoverMusic said, “[Donna Missal’s] silky vocals stand out against the moody, synth-driven production [on ‘Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby’].”

The film’s director and writer, Emerald Fennell, also served as Executive Soundtrack Producer, teaming up with music supervisor Sue Jacobs and Capitol Records to create what The Daily Beast describes as “a pop music soundtrack that could only be described as glorious.” Vice observed, “[Promising Young Woman] expertly uses femme pop songs to underscore its critically acclaimed twisted tale of trauma and revenge.” Billboard praised Anthony Willis’ “chilling orchestral arrangement of ‘Toxic,’” which can be heard in the film’s new trailer. View HERE.

The soundtrack also features previously unreleased tracks from Muna and Blessus plus Carmen DeLeon’s cover of the Gerry Goffin-Carole King penned “He Hit Me (And It Felt Like A Kiss”). Charli XCX’s “Boys,” Paris Hilton’s “Stars Are Blind,” Sky Ferreira’s “Downhill Lullaby” and Juice Newton’s “Angel of the Morning” are among the previously released tracks that Fennell employs to subvert the audience’s expectations over the course of the film. Other featured artists include Maya B and Lily & Madeleine.

Synopsis

Premiering to huge acclaim in Sundance earlier this year, PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN is directed and written by Emerald Fennell (Killing Eve) and stars Academy Award®-nominee Carey Mulligan and Bo Burnham along with an ensemble cast that includes Laverne Cox, Alison Brie, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Max Greenfield, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chris Lowell, Sam Richardson, Molly Shannon, and Clancy Brown.  Fennell produced along with Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara for LuckyChap Entertainment and Ben Browning and Ashley Fox for FilmNation Entertainment.

Say Cheese – How to Love Your Smile

When you first meet someone, what’s the first thing you notice? For most people, it’s someone’s smile. Because of that, a nice smile can make a good first impression in both professional and social settings.

According to the American Association of Orthodontics, one-third of Americans are unhappy with their smiles. This can lead to people smiling with their mouths closed, or not smiling at all. So what can you do to change how you feel about your smile?

Keep reading for a guide on how to love your smile and make sure it looks as good as it can.

Brush Your Teeth the Right Way

Brushing your teeth is the key to improving the appearance of your smile. Most people brush their teeth, but most people don’t do so in the correct way.

Make sure that you brush your teeth at least twice a day, when you wake up and before you go to bed. In the morning, do it before you eat breakfast, otherwise, you’ll be helping the bacteria in your mouth grow.

You also need to make sure that you brush your teeth for two minutes each time. Make a point to pay attention to the different quadrants in your mouth so as not to miss any areas.

Use the Right Toothbrush

If you do brush your teeth often but still have teeth that appear dull or discovered, the toothbrush that you’re using may be the problem.

If you’re using a manual toothbrush, ensure that the bristles are firm and that the brush isn’t too old. When the bristles start to fan out, it’s a sign that you need to get a new one.

Most dentists recommend using an electric toothbrush. This will provide your teeth with a dentist-level cleaning and ensure that all particles and bacteria are out of your mouth.

Remember to Floss

Flossing is something that most people know is important but don’t get around to doing. Yet finding time to do it once a day can help your teeth shine bright, as well as reduce the risk of you developing gum disease.

Most dentists recommend flossing at night, before you brush your teeth. This helps to loosen up any particles that you can then get out of your mouth with a toothbrush, letting you go to bed with squeaky clean teeth.

Flossing may seem tedious at first, but once you figure out how to do it efficiently, it’ll become much less of a chore to do. Then, make it a part of your nightly routine, and you’ll see results in no time.

Avoid Harmful Foods and Drinks

You can do everything right when it comes to taking care of your teeth in the morning and at night, but you can get rid of that progress during the day if you aren’t careful. The foods and drinks you consume play an enormous role in you the health and appearance of your teeth

It’s no secret that sweets such as cakes, candy, and chocolate can cause your teeth to decay. Try to avoid eating them as much as possible to keep everything looking its best.

Coffee may be delicious and give you your caffeine fix, but it also stains your teeth. The same goes for red wine. Quit them if possible, but if you can’t (we understand), try to limit your intake as much as possible.

Go to the Dentist

When’s the last time you’ve made a trip to see your dentist? If you can’t remember, it’s time to schedule an appointment as soon as you finish reading this article.

Most experts recommend going to see the dentist every six months. Dentists give your teeth a deep cleaning, and also check for signs of any issues in your mouth. Often, these can go unnoticed by you and can develop into lasting conditions.

It might seem like a hassle, but scheduling an appointment with a dentist will get your teeth back on the right track. You’ll leave the office feeling happier with a brighter smile.

Straighten Your Teeth With Braces

For some people, the problem isn’t the color of their teeth, it’s the shape of them. In that case, regardless of your age, consider visiting an orthodontist and getting braces.

Braces aren’t only something for kids and teenagers, either. If you’re concerned about braces impacting your professional life, consider getting Invisalign. Check out this guide to learn more about braces vs Invisalign.

Having braces seem like a hassle, but consider them to be an investment. A few months of discomfort are worth it for the shining smile that gives you confidence later on.

Consider Getting Veneers

Are your dental issues more complicated? Do you have a lot of worn down, chipped, or discolored teeth? If you do, you might want to consider getting veneers.

Made of porcelain, veneers are small caps that cover the front of your teeth. They’re custom-fit, and won’t become loose or move around. Think of them as a permanent new smile.

Many celebrities have veneers, and it’s the reason why they have such nice smiles. With veneers, you too can have a Hollywood-level smile that brings you confidence and joy.

Learn to Love Your Smile With These Tips

Whether you’re self-conscious about the color of your teeth or their shape, it can be hard to love your smile. However, by following these tips, you’ll be able to transform your smile and the way you feel about it. Remember that it’s only a part of you, and doesn’t define who you are.

New Study Shows the Development of Insulin Resistance in Children

A new study from the University of Eastern Finland shows that individualised and family-based physical activity and dietary counselling considerably slows down the development of insulin resistance, which is a precursor of type 2 diabetes, in 6–9-year-old children. Published in Diabetologia, the study focused on predominantly normal-weight children.

Insulin resistance refers to the body’s weakened metabolic response to insulin in the target tissues, i.e. in skeletal muscles, adipose tissue and the liver. Insulin resistance is usually the first sign of disturbed glucose metabolism, developing much earlier than abnormalities in pancreatic insulin secretion, elevated glucose levels and, eventually, type 2 diabetes. Earlier studies have shown that physical activity and dietary counselling reduces insulin resistance in overweight and obese children. This new study from the University of Eastern Finland is significant not only scientifically, but also in terms of public health and clinical practice, because it is the first to show that a combination of physical activity and dietary counselling can be used to slow down the long-term development of insulin resistance in children who were predominantly normal-weight at baseline.

More than 500 Finnish children aged between 6 and 9 years at baseline participated in the Physical Activity and Nutrition in Children (PANIC) study ongoing at the University of Eastern Finland. Children and their caregivers in the intervention group were given individualised and family-based physical activity and dietary counselling over a period of two years. Children and their caregivers in the control group, on the other hand, were given instructions on physical exercise and nutrition as per the national guidelines, but no actual lifestyle counselling. At baseline and two years later, the researchers analysed children’s physical activity and sedentary behaviour using the Actiheart sensor that measures heart rate and body movements. Physical activity was also assessed by the PANIC Physical Activity Questionnaire, and dietary factors were assessed by a 4-day food record over four days. Children’s body fat percentage and lean body mass were measured by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry, DXA. Fasting serum insulin and HOMA-IR were used as indicators of insulin resistance.

The study showed that during the two-year follow-up, increase of insulin resistance was roughly 35% lower in the group that was given individualised and family-based physical activity and dietary counselling than in the control group. The attenuating effect of counselling on insulin resistance was explained especially by changes in physical activity and sedentary behaviour, and slightly less by changes in overall dietary quality and in the consumption of high-fat spreads. Counselling did not have an effect on body fat percentage or lean body mass, i.e. changes in body composition did not mediate the beneficial effect of intervention on insulin resistance.

“This is an interesting finding. The attenuating effect of physical activity and dietary counselling on insulin resistance in children is likely caused by the fact that physical activity and a healthy diet boost metabolism in skeletal muscles, adipose tissue and in the liver, and not so much by a lower body fat percentage or lean body mass,” Professor Timo Lakka, the lead author of the study, says.

Although type 2 diabetes usually develops in adulthood, research suggests that its prevention is best begun already in childhood.

“Increasing physical activity, reducing sedentary behaviour and eating food of better quality should be a priority for all children, not just for those who are overweight,” Professor Lakka points out.

Professor Lakka points out that in addition to body composition measurements, all children should also be asked about their physical activity, sedentary behaviour and diet when they visit a child health clinic or a school nurse.

“Identifying children who have unhealthy lifestyle habits and who are at an increased risk of type 2 diabetes in adulthood would allow a better targeting of measures that are geared towards preventing type 2 diabetes. The best way to collect lifestyle-related data is to use scientifically validated, well-proven digital applications. This would allow the data to be optimally used for promoting children’s health and well-being, and for making scientifically informed decisions,” Professor Lakka says.

Based on the iconic square case DW5600, the watch is dressed in a vibrant red colorway with the watch band and watch face featuring Kulig’s famous logo in a repeating pattern. Additional custom features for the model include a one-of-a-kind EL backlight, that displays the “Love Me” graphic in the EL’s afterglow, making Kulig’s message visible only through the light.

The DW5600LH-4 also comes equipped with G-SHOCK technology including shock resistance, 200M water resistance, flash alert, stopwatch, countdown timer, multi-function alarm, and 12/24-hour time formats.

The DW5600LH-4 retails for $120 and will be available for purchase this November at select G-SHOCK retailers, G-SHOCK Soho Store, and gshock.com.
