Fousheé Signs with RCA Records

Today, genre bending singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Fousheé announces she has signed with RCA Records. After garnering attention from the likes of SZA, Noname and more, and rising up the charts with her hit single “Deep End,” Fousheé first shared the news with her growing fanbase via Instagram. Click HERE to see her billboard announcement in Los Angeles.

On the signing, Chairman and CEO of RCA Records, Peter Edge says: “Fousheé is one of the brightest new voices with a clear creative vision and we are thrilled to welcome her to the RCA family. We look forward to helping her amplify her vision and reach new milestones together.”

Fousheé says: “I went with RCA because we speak the same music language. So many of who I’d consider to be the greats passed through there so I feel like I’m in good hands and it was important for me to still have creative control and a fair deal. I’m looking forward to pushing myself creatively. I want to create the soundtrack of this generation. “

Fousheé emerged this summer with the release of her track “Deep End” which garnered critical attention from the likes of FADER, OkayPlayer, Pigeons & Planes, 2DopeBoyz and more. Most recently Noisey included the track on their “Best R&B Songs of Summer 2020” list describing,”…a haunting voice…nestled comfortably on the production…At a time when so many of us were speechless [following George Floyd’s death], Fousheé found the words we wanted to say.”

Since then, the track has taken off hitting major milestones including reaching #5 on the Spotify Global Viral 50 chart, landing in Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits, Pop Rising, Hot Rhythmic playlists and Top Global 200 (sitting at #73), as well as #1 on the Global Shazam chart. The track has been streamed over 30 million times worldwide and currently sits at #1 on Apple Music’s Alt R&B playlist.

Internationally the track has made waves as well reaching Top 5 on the Top Daily Spotify charts in various Eastern European markets including #1 in Russia.

Fans first heard Fousheé’s pristine vocals on Sleepy Hallow’s “Deep End Freestyle” track, but she was not named as the vocalist. After the track took off, her mother and sister inspired her to come forward in a TikTok video, which now has over 6 million views and fans called for her to release a full version which she released in July along with the Blaxploitation film inspired visual directed by Zachary Sulak.

About Fousheé:

Born and raised in New Jersey, Fousheé  grew up with music in the forefront her entire life. Her mother, who hails from Jamaica, got her start in music as the drummer for a female reggae band named PEP before moving to America and starting a family. During her early childhood, Fousheé was exposed to a variety of different sounds from her mother’s record collection including Bob Marley, Toni Braxton and Etta James who she now counts as influences along with artists she personally gravitated to over the years like Frank Ocean.

Writing her first song at age six and performing with different girl groups created with childhood friends throughout her formative years, Fousheé  always knew that she wanted to pursue a career in music seriously. Yet, she found herself following in the normal footsteps of a teenager and enrolling in college, while still working on music and performing at local café’s on the side. It wasn’t until she and her mom were involved serious car accident that forced her to drop out and help her mom recover from injuries that she fully realized how important her dreams were and that was the turning point.

After living in NYC and experiencing the music scene there, she set her sights on LA where she was embraced by the music community of creators and began to pursue her dream, honing her craft and learning to play the guitar most recently. Fast forward to 2020, little did Fousheé  know that her voice would become streamed by millions as the hook on Sleepy Hallow’s viral track “Deep End (Freestyle),” influencing her to reveal her identity as the vocalist in a TikTok video that now has nearly 6 million views. With a clear creative vision and the release of her own full version of “Deep End,” Fousheé  is ready to show the world who she is.

California Ranks 3rd in Nation for Clean Energy Jobs

Clean energy jobs paid 25% more than the national median wage in 2019 and were more likely to include health care and retirement benefits, according to a first-of-its-kind analysis of federal occupational wage and benefits data prepared for E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs), the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), and the Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) by BW Research Partnership.

The Clean Jobs, Better Jobs report is the first comprehensive analysis of wages and benefits across the clean energy sector. According to the report, workers in renewable energy, energy efficiency, grid modernization and storage, clean fuels and clean vehicles earned a median hourly wage of $23.89 in 2019 compared with the national median wage of $19.14. In addition, jobs in many clean energy sectors are more likely to be unionized and come with health care and retirement benefits than the rest of the private sector, the analysis shows.

Clean Jobs, Better Jobs comes amid the growing national dialogue around clean energy as federal and state leaders look for ways to restart the economy. The findings underscore the opportunity to advance smart clean energy policies that create higher-wage opportunities putting Americans back to work quickly rebuilding a cleaner, more resilient and more equitable economy. The report also provides detailed wage, benefit, education and demographic data for 15 specific clean energy occupations, and how they compare with similar jobs in other industries outside of clean energy.

Overall, median wages in clean energy are significantly higher than median wages in sectors such as retail, services, recreation and accommodations, especially when it comes to entry-level wages. Solar energy workers earn $24.48 an hour, while wind and grid modernization jobs pay on average more than $25 an hour. Energy efficiency – the largest employer in the nation’s energy sector – supports a median hourly wage of $24.44, about 28% above the national median.

Many clean energy jobs also paid better than fossil fuel jobs. Jobs in coal, natural gas and petroleum fuels paid $24.37 an hour, while solar and wind jobs combined for a $24.85 median hourly wage. Clean energy industries also employed about three times more workers than fossil fuels did in 2019, and, unlike fossil fuel jobs, clean energy jobs are available in every state, regardless of geology or geography.

Before COVID-19, clean energy had been one of the nation’s fastest-growing sectors. At the end of 2019, clean energy employed nearly 3.4 million workers across 99% of U.S. counties, according to E2’s Clean Jobs America report.

Bob Keefe, Executive Director at E2, said:

“This is just one more indication that focusing on clean energy is the smart thing to do as lawmakers look to rebuild our economy and get Americans back to work.

“These jobs pay better, come with better benefits – and they’re also helping fight climate change and the growing economic costs that come with it. We need policies that ensure these good-paying jobs continue to grow and are available to every American in every state.”

Gregory Wetstone, President and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), said:

“More renewable energy means more high-quality jobs with good pay and better benefits for more Americans. Investing in these jobs is both smart for the economy and essential for the climate. With the right policies in place, the renewable industry can put people to work powering our nation’s economic recovery – as it did in 2009 – and play a critical role in achieving the greenhouse gas emissions reductions scientists say are necessary to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.”

Becca Ward, Acting Executive Director of CELI, said:

“Emerging leaders know the future of energy is clean energy. This report illustrates that clean energy careers are already a critical part of the economy and the recovery from COVID-19. Now the essential work is to ensure that in the greater energy transition, these benefits and opportunities are centered in equity and the frontline communities most impacted by climate change, COVID-19, and ongoing racial injustices.”

Phil Jordan, Vice President and Principal at BW Research Partnership, said:

“The U.S. economy has shed millions of jobs since the onset of COVID-19. Clean energy investments can create new opportunities for these displaced workers, in jobs that pay more and are more likely to include benefits than the average jobs lost during the pandemic.”

State Findings

Clean energy industries in six states paid wages at least 20% higher than the statewide median, led by California (29.2%), Texas (27.6%) and Louisiana (24.9%). Six states plus the District of Columbia (D.C.) had median hourly wages above $25 an hour in clean energy, led by Massachusetts ($29.80), D.C. ($27.60) and California ($27.50).

Other Report Findings

  • The unionization rate across all clean energy occupations (9%) was slightly higher than the national private-sector average (6%)
  • Common occupations – such as electrician, construction laborer, and welder – typically pay a premium when they’re involved in clean energy industries. Electricians who work in clean energy, for instance, make a median $29.64 per hour – about $2.60 more per hour than electricians overall.
  • Wage premiums for clean energy occupations are highest for entry-level positions.

Leon Bridges x Lucky Daye

Today, Grammy Award winning R&B artist and songwriter Leon Bridges and Lucky Daye release “All About You”. The sweet yet sensual, 90’s R&B inspired R&B jam was produced by Leon’s longtime collaborator Ricky Reed, and was recorded during a chance studio encounter between the two artists in Los Angeles. Listen to “All About You” here.

Regarding “All About You,” Leon says, “For this song, we set out to bring back the energy of some of the 90’s R&B greats we grew up listening to. The way Lucky and I met was completely organic. One night when I was out on the town in LA I ran into a friend of Lucky’s who suggested that we should collaborate. I was totally down but wanted our connection to be natural and chill. The day after, I was in the studio and Lucky randomly shows up. I grabbed my guitar and we tossed around some melodies and lyrics and “All About You” was born.”

Adds Ricky, “It was the last day of our session. We weren’t even trying to write anything, just finish up a tune. Then we got word Lucky was pulling up. When they first met in the studio kitchenette Leon was already holding a guitar, playing the chords. Lucky started singing, we dragged a mic over by the sink and started capturing. I fired up the drum machine. Song was done about 2 hours later. Never seen anything like it from two strangers, now friends.”

As both Leon and Lucky are visual artists, “All About You” was released with an official music video. Watch the LAMAR+NIK directed music video here. LAMAR+NIK brought “All About You” to life using a stop-motion technique known as Stratastencil. All 4,500 frames of video were printed, hand-cut and photographed frame-by-frame to achieve the tunnel effect seen throughout the video.

Prior to the release of “All About You,” Leon released the song “Sweeter” which he performed at the Democratic National Convention. Listen to “Sweeter” here. Prior to that song, Leon Bridges teamed up with John Mayer for “Inside Friend”; listen here. Leon Bridges can next be seen on NBC’s The Voice; watch his interview with Kelly Clarkson on Access Hollywood here.

Sheppard announces new album – Kaleidoscope Eyes

Less than 48 hours before they make history by performing in the coveted half-time slot at the first ever AFL Grand Final held outside of Victoria, pop-powerhouse Sheppard have announced the details of their brand new album “Kaleidoscope Eyes”, scheduled to land on February 19, 2021.

The third full length album for Sheppard is the glue that held the band together.

Two years in the making, ‘Kaleidoscope Eyes’ marks the multi-award winning band’s third full length release, and their first album since 2018’s ‘Watching The Sky’ debuted at number 1 on the ARIA Charts. It also marks a new, more self-confident side of Sheppard.

Coming off of three back-to-back world tourstwo major album cyclesmultiple awards and several years cooped up together in hotels and airport lounges, Sheppard spent 2019 writing, recording and taking time to discover who they are now, as young adults with established careers, rather than a new band chasing accolades and seeking acceptance.

No longer labelled purely as just the kid siblings that took the world by storm with ‘Geronimo’, the pressure of churning out hit singles had lifted and the realisation that they could live their lives for themselves became apparent for the first time in years. With the advent of COVID-19, the band joined the rest of the country in a journey of working out what was truly important in life.

The band rediscovered “normal” life outside of touring; Amy Sheppard kick-started a global body-positive movement called Kiss My Fat Ass and got engaged to her longtime partner Lachlan; Emma Sheppard found solace in smaller moments in life, building an epic caravan house with her partner and George continued to grow as a father and explore new artistic avenues.

As the band — now a core three-piece of founding members and siblings George, Amy and Emma — prepare to release their third album they’re sounding more assured and effortless than ever, building anticipation as they drip-feed their irresistible, big-hearted pop into the world, one song at a time.

Starting in the early stages of 2020, Sheppard began their self-imposed challenge of releasing one single per month for an entire year, slowly bringing together the many elements of ‘Kaleidoscope Eyes.’

Somewhere along the album’s journey, I became obsessed with the idea of a kaleidoscope,” said George Sheppard. “To most people it might just be a tube with pretty shards of glass, but to us it represented so much more.”

“Each time you look into a kaleidoscope, you are looking at something in a new light. It’s often bittersweet, because the slightest change can shift the entire picture forever,” said Amy Sheppard of the meaning behind the record. “On the other hand, if you continue to tumble, you’ll eventually find new beauty in a different arrangement of the same pieces. It’s a strangely beautiful metaphor for love and how the world seems much brighter when you’re in love. That message has managed to wind its way throughout the entire record.”

With stories of love, loss, heartbreak and happiness from all angles, the richly coloured tapestry of experiences, both ordinary and extraordinary, came together to form ‘Kaleidoscope Eyes’, a celebration of a tumultuous yet enriching couple of years, with music becoming the glue that held the band together.

“Kaleidoscope Eyes is an album dedicated to the wonders of love, in every form. With love, the world is a more colourful place. Spread it, make it, give it, feel it, appreciate it, and do your best not to lose it,” said George Sheppard.

Boasting over three and a half million listeners per month on Spotify, over 770 million streams across all platforms, a handful of #1’s and Top Ten hits in multiple countries around the world, Sheppard have already achieved more than most bands could dream of in their lifetime. And they’re only just getting started.

Sheppard will perform LIVE at the AFL Grand Final on Saturday 24 October. Their third full length album will be released on Friday 19 February, 2021
